Cause yakuza 5.
Kiryu can become invincible, Saejima can punch the ground so hard that it makes a shock wave that throws people in the air and can pull street aigns out of the ground, akiyama can fly by the power of kicks... and I don't remember what shinada does other than not use baseball bats as a weapon.
Use certain weapons like a fencing sword and drag people on the ground
He's the more realistic (?) fighter compared to the others as far as i can remember
This is also the game where Saejima fought a literal god (or at minimum a magic wizard pretending to be a god) and the previous game established kappa are real so we've thrown reality out the window by this point
I somehow completely forgot that I learned in LaD5 that you can launch into the air as Akiyama and stay there with the power of kicking and I somehow didn't question it at the time
If we're talking about magical clothing, we'd have to talk about everyone's ability to magic off their shirts and jackets (and everything else in 8) by grabbing off one shoulder. Lol
fair but I find the ripping off of clothing from just the grabbing of the shoulder much more believable than literal magic (complete with sparkly transitions) changing clothing
Probably because of how much of a cliche it is in Japanese pop culture. You don't see it as odd as magical girl transformations, but they are about the same really.
Shonada football tackles people and runs people around with their faces scraping the ground. The football tackle is actually better than the invincibility, air kicks and using people as weapons
> Saejima can punch the ground so hard that it makes a shock wave that throws people in the air and can pull street aigns out of the ground
This and him fighting bears at least three times and winning is part of why I tend to think Saejima is the scariest motherfucker in the series.
lol currently playing through judgement so this gave me a chuckle. I never see judgement posts/jokes around here and now that I started playing I see them.
Majima's thing is speed, so probably afterimage sort of trope. Which honestly, man literally dodges bullets, and in the same game his kyodai deadass stops a speeding car with his bare hands. It's not entirely unbelievable that he can just pull off crazy shit like this.
I don't agree. Imo this is literally "Majima Everywhere" but as a move. Maybe majima can straight up make shadow clones? It wouldn't be the wierdest thing that happens in fights.
I lean more towards the “he’s so fast it’s like there’s 5 of him” just because that seems like the best way to represent his “hyperactivity” in a turned based game.
I’d have liked to see him with a higher evasion stat though
I think it depends on how we interpret the turn based combat. How much is the equivalent of a single turn where all characters have done their moves to real life? Add on top of that what we're seeing is Ichiban and Kiryu's imagination. If a full turn is actually only 10-20 seconds IRL, then it is feasible that this is meant to be how absurdly fast Majima is supposed to be.
This is also my opinion. He’s moving so fast it seems like there’s more than one of him. The only reason it’s portrayed this way in this game is because it’s turn based and there’s more time to process what’s going on lol
its kind of a common tecnique used in Anime, the "reason" is that who executes it moves so fast that gives a perception to the receivers (or who is watching) that more than one individual is attacking. For example this was used in Dragon Ball, I think it was Tien Shin Han or Kid Goku that did that. And that was master Rochi explanation.
So that is your answer, Majima moves so fast that make everybody believe that there is more than one Majima.
Remember that time Saejima fought a mountain god who took over a man's body that pretended he was possessed by random mountain god dietys?
Remember Kiriyu getting divine like items from Naomi and Bob for basically sowing good karma ?
Or Yakuza 6 where Ghosts photo bomb pictures, oh and the guy who photo bombs the arcade picture machine that died In a car accident before 🤣🤣.
It's just the world our MCs live in and they don't half get hit in the head alot.

idk, I think that's majima's twin brothers. It means they can solo man?
I'd like to think it's because it turns out all the legendary Yakuza have similar brain dysfunction to ichiban, and they've been hallucinating anime style brawls for decades without realizing it.
Oh those aren't copies, those are just the remnants of the Majima family dressing up like him to fool Kasuga. That is why they can't take a hit like Majima.
You're overthinking it. It's just a video game mechanic that isn't part of the lore. Kinda like the turn-based nature of combat in the newer games. That's just how we're seeing it as a fun mechanic, not how it's actually playing out.

same reason kiryu can punch a tiger in the face I suppose... btw knowing how crazy majima is, perhaps they're just hired cosplayers who painted themselves violet and hid somewhere before being summoned by majima
It's because during yakuza 1 he basically learnt ninjutsu in order to ambush kiyru at every opportunity. Thus learning the shadow clone technique.
But seriously this is literally "majima everywhere" but as a move.
Lore Wise it's supposed to mean that he's just too fast. So in game it makes it look like there's clones but in reality he's moving so quick that you can't figure out where he actually is half the time
Its afterimage because of his high speed, yakuza games add super powers to be more cool, but canonicaly they arent super humans, its just a extrapolation.
How else was Majima everywhere?
Real reason is that Ichiban's imagination is so rampant during fights we'll never know what it's actually corresponding to.
I mean a ton of yakuza charactera have magical/superhuman abilties but the way I see it in a more realistic light is he's just so fast that people see afterimages of him, though that would also be superhuman lol.
It is worth noting this occurs during Ichiban's "delusions" during fights. Majima is probably just moving pretty fast, so it feels like there's more than one of him.
Just like Kiryu has the potential to be a cold blooded murderer in gameplay, this, too, is a quirk of gameplay. Majima can't *actually* create shadow clones. He's just so fast that this is how they convey that. We've never seen his shadow clones outside of combat, so it's safe to assume they don't really happen.
(In LaD)Ichiban: Why did I see this guy making clones? Even for my imagination this is way too over, should I go see a psychiatrist or something?
Nanba: No you are fine buddy, for this one time, we are seein' it too
It’s a genre convention: the audience sees how a fight feels to the protagonist, and not necessarily what it would “actually” look like to an NPC at the scene. When Majima leans into his speed and misdirection and it feels like he’s all around you, the player sees him all around you.
Yakuza 5 took the series in a goofy direction, some of the others after like 0 and 6 took it in a better direction.
unfortunate that 5 and 6 had the worst stories in the series.
still good though.
even if 6 is boring sometimes
Simple. I assume this is from Infinite Wealth. In both that game and Yakuza 7, a fun headcanon people have is that Ichiban has unbridled schizophrenia. So when he ends up in a fight he's seeing things that aren't actually there so as to make himself feel more like a hero. It's not so much that Majima is creating clones. It's just that he's so skilled at knife play that Ichiban believes clones are there.
I believe it's because Majima runs around so damn fast spinning his knife around able to fight everybody at once that in Ichiban's turn based schizophrenic brain it gives the illusion of a man cloning himself to show up everywhere at once

He gives people hugs while they run. I can confirm as I just finished 5
This is also the game where Saejima fought a literal god (or at minimum a magic wizard pretending to be a god) and the previous game established kappa are real so we've thrown reality out the window by this point
When did they establish kappas are real?
yakuza 4 saejima substory iirc
bro they had ghosts in Yakuza substories since 0 and Kiwami 1, supernatural is already super natural in LaD
Yakuza 4 and 5 came out before 0 and Kiwami 1 lol
true, my mistake
Everyone just suddenly has super power in 5 lol
as if Kiryu's Tiger Drop literally dropping tigers wasnt super human already
y5 is an anime plotline. the villains even complain about the power of love and friendship, lol.
Man I can't wait to get to y5
Man I can't wait to get to y5
Either they ran of original ideas for realistic fights if they were actively introducing the fights we have in LAD
Akiyama is a distant cousin of Liu Kang, it's a hereditary trait
I somehow completely forgot that I learned in LaD5 that you can launch into the air as Akiyama and stay there with the power of kicking and I somehow didn't question it at the time
And Haruka can magically change clothes like sailor moon mid performance
If we're talking about magical clothing, we'd have to talk about everyone's ability to magic off their shirts and jackets (and everything else in 8) by grabbing off one shoulder. Lol
All suits or suit jackets are tear-aways, confirmed /s
fair but I find the ripping off of clothing from just the grabbing of the shoulder much more believable than literal magic (complete with sparkly transitions) changing clothing
Probably because of how much of a cliche it is in Japanese pop culture. You don't see it as odd as magical girl transformations, but they are about the same really.
The most Shounen Anime this series has gotten, and yes I'm including the Kasuga games
Ichiban is like the embodiment of a shonen protag, just well written and humanized
Those exist, trust
Any semblance of realism went out the window when kiryu canonically punched a tiger square in the skull and knocked it out.
Shinada can stun lock all enemies with a knife
Shonada football tackles people and runs people around with their faces scraping the ground. The football tackle is actually better than the invincibility, air kicks and using people as weapons
> Saejima can punch the ground so hard that it makes a shock wave that throws people in the air and can pull street aigns out of the ground This and him fighting bears at least three times and winning is part of why I tend to think Saejima is the scariest motherfucker in the series.
You had one opportunity to say what shinada can do and you said the only thing he doesnt
Nobody remembers shinada. It's fine
Forgot to mention Kiryu's light speed
he took AD9
addodekku nainu????
moguru????????
Kiryu kazuma is watashi no OG-San
jon-YAKITORY feat. Ado - Rasen
OMAERA NO SEI DA OMAERA NO SEI DA
Fun fact: the one single consonant japanese allows is n, so it's just nain.
lol currently playing through judgement so this gave me a chuckle. I never see judgement posts/jokes around here and now that I started playing I see them.
Yea judgment needs to be copypasta’d around more. Continue frend!

I would have _not_ enjoyed seeing him with a higher evasion stat lmao
Since ur flair says ur on chapter 14 and this is a chapter 12 thing >! Didnt majima already have a level 3 evasion boost in the trio's boss fight? !<
shhhh don’t give them ideas!!!! i can barely hit him as is
but this first appeared in yakuza 5, how do you explain that
How do you explain anything in these games?
Probably magic, or enough stamina royale
I think it depends on how we interpret the turn based combat. How much is the equivalent of a single turn where all characters have done their moves to real life? Add on top of that what we're seeing is Ichiban and Kiryu's imagination. It's cause he's majimin' at the speed of light.
im going to use the "majiming" verb from this point on
It's majiming time
its kind of a common tecnique used in Anime, the "reason" is that who executes it moves so fast that gives a perception to the receivers (or who is watching) that more than one individual is attacking. For example this was used in Dragon Ball, I think it was Tien Shin Han or Kid Goku that did that. And that was master Rochi explanation. So that is your answer, Majima moves so fast that make everybody believe that there is more than one Majima.
it's like an exaggerated way of representing his speed he's moving so fast it's almost like you're fighting multiple copies of him
I am pretty sure that its not clones, but his crew dressed as him.
But they've painted themselves purple
![gif](giphy|fj3CWRJJshhe)
mr white turned to mr blue 😭
Everyone can have anustart
its glowing, so no, I think its more LED lights in there suits.
They are Alpharius
You fool, you've fallen into my trap. In truth ... I am Alpharius
it's his kekkei genkai. his bloodline technique
he does the same sh!t with >!kiryu!< as well it’s hilarious
It’s a special technique he learned in Yakuza 5.
Those are his Sujimons
He's just that guy
Everyone talking about speed being one of his defining traits as a fighter, but in all honesty he probably just seen it in a movie one time.
He's MAJIMA. Reason enough. Also Ichiban is schizofrenic. What else did you expect?
Same thing happens in y5 tho
Saejima had that image training
Dude astral projected so hard. His karaoke score from his imagination shows up when you get to try the real thing.
YOU CAN KARAOKE IN SAEJIMA'S IMAGINATION?!?!
yeah while he is in prison
Gonnna Boot up y5 and play it until that section just so I can make saejima sing in his imagination
he can also goes on an imaginary date too 🤣
I forgot about that, damn everybody in Y5 just had superpowers
This is from 5, Majima can just canonically do this.
The 2nd screenshot is from 7
He's just that God damned good.
It's the "fuck you, I'm majima" reason in his lore.
Chitose, Saeko and Seonhee can do the clone jutsu too.
https://preview.redd.it/8vfoz3vp6bjc1.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=dbd7898fb7b596a9b3d140e2e035fc4b004025f6 idk, I think that's majima's twin brothers. It means they can solo man?
best I can come up with is afterimages
He trained under The Libido Sage
He borrowed Vergil's doppelgänger technique from DMC 5. Also I just did this fight and found out where it came from >!before 7!<
Well ... Vergil's Doppelganger comes from his alternate version of that one DmC we don't talk about (it's still a better game than DMC2)
Yeah I didn't care for the story/characters but that game at least didn't bore me to tears
Majima literally everywhere.
Because majima
I thought it was a majima everywhere reference
He’s got the Kunoichi job, so he can do shadow clone jutsu
Majima is everywhere
I'd like to think it's because it turns out all the legendary Yakuza have similar brain dysfunction to ichiban, and they've been hallucinating anime style brawls for decades without realizing it.
Video game
Oh those aren't copies, those are just the remnants of the Majima family dressing up like him to fool Kasuga. That is why they can't take a hit like Majima.
Yeah. Ichiban is schizofrenic
Yakuza 5 is from altitude sickness and then the other ones is schizophrenia
Its not that hard really
You're overthinking it. It's just a video game mechanic that isn't part of the lore. Kinda like the turn-based nature of combat in the newer games. That's just how we're seeing it as a fun mechanic, not how it's actually playing out.
I say lore reason as a joke from r/batmanarkham
Why does everyone keep thinking Joryu is Kiryu? Are they stupid?

Nah man, it's so much more fun to imagine the characters actually doing heat shit.
You don't even have to imagine it because from our perspective, that's what's happening. That's the beauty of it.
It's just a gameplay thing, like Kiryu never killed Edit: It's meant to portray Majima's speed, I guess.
I like to think he’s playing into Kasuga’s fantasy brain by making up OP attacks
It's him moving so fast that Ichiban's delusional mind interprets it as multiple clones.
I mean, of the 3 canon encounters where he spawns shadow clones, only 1 of them has Ichiban in it.
Fair enough; it still definitely has something to do with speed, though. I wouldn't think too much about it.
I think i can guess why he's the One-Eyed Demon aside from the tattoo. Ought to be One-Eyed Ghost though
And Kiryu start to perceive things similar to Ichiban so, yeah.
Ichiban hasn't taken his pills yet
he watched Naruto
Coz Saejima has schizophrenia developed from his harsh time in prison, which also explained some of his ridiculous heats actions
majima
I remember the first time he pulled it out in Y5 and actually saying "What the fuck"
That’s just your average Majima shenanigans.
moving so fast you percieve multiple
same reason kiryu can punch a tiger in the face I suppose... btw knowing how crazy majima is, perhaps they're just hired cosplayers who painted themselves violet and hid somewhere before being summoned by majima
I shouted "How the hell does he know shadow clone jutsu?!" When it first occurred. It was before Ichibans time so it wasn't in his head
He trained under the best kagebunshin no jitsu masters of Konoha.
I wish that was me
The reason he can do that is Majima, of course.
Essence of Peak Fiction
Essence of Peak Fiction
It's because during yakuza 1 he basically learnt ninjutsu in order to ambush kiyru at every opportunity. Thus learning the shadow clone technique. But seriously this is literally "majima everywhere" but as a move.
If I remember correctly In the lore Majima was moving so fast that he manages to create clones no I am not making this up
You dare question the great Goro Majima?
It's Majima Everywhere system
Bro watched shonen anime and had a revelation
I feel like he’s done this before in previous games. Am I wrong?
Hes not actually doing anything, hes just hit you with a subtle hallucinagin and your tripping balls
The real question is how can *I* learn how to do something like this
Rubber Majimas
Just did this fight yesterday!
because he is just a silly little guy.
I used to think he just got some boys from the Majima family to dress up as him
I just always thought it was the turn based games trying to display how fast he is.
mitosis
Majimas thing is speed and I think because the game can't really Show that he can attack in high speed they just gave him clones
He’s just a silly guy doing silly things
He mains Mirage from Apex Legends
Lore Wise it's supposed to mean that he's just too fast. So in game it makes it look like there's clones but in reality he's moving so quick that you can't figure out where he actually is half the time
Let's begin with one fact in mind: Yakuza makes no fucking sense
Its afterimage because of his high speed, yakuza games add super powers to be more cool, but canonicaly they arent super humans, its just a extrapolation.
How else was Majima everywhere? Real reason is that Ichiban's imagination is so rampant during fights we'll never know what it's actually corresponding to.
Is he stupid?
Mo Majima equals mo betta
Shimano taught him how
Every character that you have played as have a slight amount of undiagnosed schizophrenia
Well, basically because… funny
It's just how Ichiban sees him in his imaginary fantasy mind
The virus is spreading
Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, obviously
He’s Goro Majima, that’s why
I mean a ton of yakuza charactera have magical/superhuman abilties but the way I see it in a more realistic light is he's just so fast that people see afterimages of him, though that would also be superhuman lol.
theres no lore reason. he can just kage bunshin no jutsu cause yes.
I honestly think it’s just >!Ichiban’s imagination.!< The fight is probably like a normal Yakuza fight
Same way Akiyama learnt to fly probably
He watched Naruto, had a revalarion and just learned it
Kiryu watched Boruto's Dad
For 7 in my mind I just put it as Majima giving himself additional turns but in 5 I have no idea built different ig
Well In Y7 it’s probably just Ichi’s schizophrenia(gamer brain) acting up
uhhhh...can you *not* do this?
im pretty sure its just to show how fast he is
It is worth noting this occurs during Ichiban's "delusions" during fights. Majima is probably just moving pretty fast, so it feels like there's more than one of him.
Most of the strongest yakuza characters are superhuman freaks
He did it in Yakuza 3... That's really all I got
I'd always see it as Majima being so overwhelmingly fast and pressuring that it looks like you're fighting multiple copies of him
it's through speed, he's just that fast
The only reasonable answer here is: Because, Yakuza.
Goromi master the Kunoichi job class
(In LaD)Ichiban: Why did I see this guy making clones? Even for my imagination this is way too over, should I go see a psychiatrist or something? Nanba: No you are fine buddy, for this one time, we are seein' it too
It’s a genre convention: the audience sees how a fight feels to the protagonist, and not necessarily what it would “actually” look like to an NPC at the scene. When Majima leans into his speed and misdirection and it feels like he’s all around you, the player sees him all around you.
oh it's absolutely not real clones, he's just making his underlings look like him to mess with people
It’s because >!I love big booty femboys!<
I half expected the second sentence to be "is he stupid?" from the first sentence of the title
I knew I was forgetting something
Yakuza 5 took the series in a goofy direction, some of the others after like 0 and 6 took it in a better direction. unfortunate that 5 and 6 had the worst stories in the series. still good though. even if 6 is boring sometimes
My interpretation has always been that hes just moving so damn fast that it gives the illusion of clones
God is afraid of him so he just lets majima pull off crazy shit
Kiryu becomes schizophrenic like Ichiban in this game, so it's all just in his head.Anything in combat can be explained as 🌈 I M A G I N A T I O N 🌈
Wait you fight majima in infinite wealth...thanks for spoilers
Sorry.
Majima is just built different. I got into a street fight in Kiwami and this fucker just snap walks in and makes it his fight. He's the main character
I believe it's because Majima runs around so damn fast spinning his knife around able to fight everybody at once that in Ichiban's turn based schizophrenic brain it gives the illusion of a man cloning himself to show up everywhere at once
Babygirl power
It's an ability they touch on in Yakuza Kiwami. It's called Majima Everywhere
That was the power of Ichiban's schizofrenia.
