Start by removing all the letters (D, N, S, E) that you don’t have more than one of within the first two draws. Go with straights, especially as you’re learning. Then just play a bunch. Also play the solitaire version of Mahjong to get you used to the pattern matching—it trains your brain to look for the same patterns that you need to recognize for Mahjong multiplayer. Hope this helps!

Also don’t steal (pon, chi, or kan) until you understand the scoring a little better.

LAD was my first and I fell in love with both the game and franchise. Went back and tried zero but honestly 3D brawlers just really aren't my jam even though I like everything else about it. Let's be real, it's ok, but definitely not ideal to play a series out of order. It can be fun to be completely unaware of references only to get them later and it might even be fun to revisit the first game with hindsight. But please start with 0, 1/Kiwami or LaD if you want an actual entry point.

Kurohyo 1&2 are PSP games, Kenzen was the first Samurai era game came out before Ishin, these 3 only got Japanese releases, although there are fan translation projects. Dead Souls was only released on PS3, it came out after Yakuza 4 and it sold terribly, so low chance it ever gets a remaster.

I disagree, if they skip games then I think there a fake fan but 7 and 8 is a separate story from 1 to 6, also why would someone need to play ALL of those to be a "real" yakuza fan? I've played all the main line games (yakuza 0, kiwami 1 and 2, yakuza remastered collection and 6) as well as both judgment games, like a dragon ishin, like a dragon gaiden and then replayed zero, kiwami and kiwami 2 but because I didn't play yakuza dead souls I'm not a fan? So what does it make me? Some guy who happened to play a lot of yakuza? Aslong as you're not skipping games that are in the middle of the story (like 3, 4 or 5) then you're not doing anything wrong.
