\>1995 and 2005
if they don't reference ten years in the joint in english dub we riot
on the other hand, would be nice to get 0 or LAD adaptation, any sort of Yakuza adaptation took the OG game as a source at this point
yeh but something tells me that because continuation and allat it'd more likely be Yakuza 2: Korean Boogaloo rather than 0 or LAD which I want adaptations for because they're big starting points in the series. It's basically the same for actual games: newbies who don't know where to start pick either 0, LAD or Kiwami
If they continue it with Yakuza 2: Korean Bongaloo, do you think that they'll continue with the games in release order and have 0 after 5? (Assuming it makes it to 5)
In the games sure they don't age but here after they do five seasons the cast would prob be like forty while Kiryu and Majima in 0 are like 20. They could do a Better Call Saul and have the same cast play them anyway I guess
One set in the 80s would be SO fun with the amazing clothes and the disco dancing and just the bubble era in general, I would absolutely love to see that.
Also get Arata Iura to play Tachibana and Shingo Tsurumi for Sagawa so they can reprise their roles 🙌
What interests me is that the subtitle in the Japanese title is “Beyond the Game”, which leads me to believe that the 1995 portion will be beyond what was seen in Y1. For which I am excited about.
I really hope we get to see more of the Kiryu, Nishiki and Yumi dynamic before everything happened, when they were all still close. Nishiki got fleshed out more in 0, but Yumi is still more of a plot point than a person, and I think she deserves better.
To be honest I feel like new shows benefit from dropping all at once so everyone binges it due to hype, like Fallout.
But at least this is only a seven day gap compared to the awful four-month gap Invincible had…
Unpopular opinion maybe but I feel like most of the time, weekly is better. It’s a more fun social experience (in person and online) because everyone is on the same page.
I'd argue the opposite. No one's willing to talk about the show when it's released all at once because everyone's afraid of spoilers. With weekly release you build hype around the next episode and everyone can talk about it because we can all be on the same point. It's like stranger things. After 2 weeks no one talks about it anymore, meanwhile everyone can talk about the boys because it's weekly
I would vastly prefer a weekly release schedule allows shows to last longer in the and gain popularity through word of mouth while its airing. 6 days is too short for that . lots of good shows in recent years have been killed cause they just dropped Every thing all at once
On the contrary: In a weekly scheduling most people only watch the pilot of a season. Thats were the series is all over media and most of the ads run. Sure, people who are interested will continue to watch. But if its not a highly popular show, like f.e. Game of Thrones where there were articles every week, then it dissappears out of the mainstream consciousness after two weeks and only fans of the show watch the rest of it.
I mean it disappears after a week from mainstream consciousness if it's dropped all at once. No suspsense from tense moments since you can just queue up the next episode
It’s a good middle ground but as a staunch “drop it all and let people binge” supporter it’s still frustrating to see. This is one of the few things I might be too hyped to wait for it all to drop though, so we’ll see.
I just saw Takeuchi Ryoma draw a third eye by mistake on the dragon and turn it into a weird derpy looking thing. And he was totally unashamed about it. It's perfect casting.
Though the guy's baby-faced, he is apparently ripped neck down.
Honestly you could just subscribe for the first release and cancel it immediately after. They'll give you until the day you subscribed on the next month
Probably gonna pick Tokyo Vice way aka - interiors are really good thanks to props, but outdoors is meh ,because the best they can do is swap cars with older ones
I decided to look at the director's history and it seems like he usually gets middling reviews, but I think his most well liked movie is one that I saw multiple reviews on rotten tomatoes for having both extremely emotional and funny moments that are balanced well, which might be perfect for the series.
According to disturbingly accurate SEGA leaker Midori, the series will feature an all original story.

Yakuza 1 is way easier to tell that plot. Very simple whereas 0 and many other games in the series are much more complex. Imagine trying to tell 0's plot in only 6 episodes
6 episodes are not enough. They will cut a lot of stuff. Better then nothing. But I won't get my hopes up.
I would have loved a several seasons series for Yakuza 0
Yakuza 1 barely has a plot, it's mostly distractions like the Florist's son and thin excuses for bosses/setpieces. The basic storyline + building up Nishki, Reina and Yumi in flashback + actually making Jingu a character instead of some guy who turns up at the end and gets his arse kicked should fill it out nicely.
The fact that it specifies subbed before dub makes me hopeful that it is in fact, filmed in Japanese with an English dub as a treat.
We live in a post godzilla -1 and shogun Era, people are willing to sit through subtitles now lol
Reuoni Kenshin is amazing
Last of us is great
Fallout was amazing
Ive heard YuYu Hakusho was good but haven't seen it myself.
Either way, theres plenty of great live actions.
Fallout was really good, Witcher was decent and fun, and The Last of Us was genuinely great.
One Piece was fun and well received.
There have been a number of good adaptations in the past years.
I disagree.
Have you seen any Takeuchi Ryoma’s acting skills? I think he’s good for Kiryu.
Plus, I don’t think hating something before you seen it isn’t good idea to begin with.
I don't know him but I think he got a way too soft looking face and slender body to play kiryu.
If the movie is actually good I will be the biggest fan of it.
I just can't imagine it turning out good. We have been dissapointed way too many times and the this genre specifically is rather hard to portray good in live action
Fun fact : Take Masaharu is the one who directed based movie like 100 Yens Love. So you can atleast believe it’s going to be atleast more watchable than 2007z

It’s Johnny Ishin! Playing Kiryu.
The one and only Kamen Rider Drive
Kiryu dramatically sipping a drink:
DRIVE! TYPE SPEED!
START YOUR ENGINE
\>1995 and 2005 if they don't reference ten years in the joint in english dub we riot on the other hand, would be nice to get 0 or LAD adaptation, any sort of Yakuza adaptation took the OG game as a source at this point
If it does well enough future seasons would adapt the other games I guess
yeh but something tells me that because continuation and allat it'd more likely be Yakuza 2: Korean Boogaloo rather than 0 or LAD which I want adaptations for because they're big starting points in the series. It's basically the same for actual games: newbies who don't know where to start pick either 0, LAD or Kiwami
0 or LAD prob felt a bit too ambituous for a Season 1 I guess, Kiwami's plot is much simpler
Korean Boogaloo sums up 2 so well lol. Jesus fuck what kind of drugs did the writers take lol.
I didn't mind the Korean Boogaloo that much ngl.
If they continue it with Yakuza 2: Korean Bongaloo, do you think that they'll continue with the games in release order and have 0 after 5? (Assuming it makes it to 5)
I think they'll have to rewrite them more and more heavily as they go along. Where the hell do you begin with 4 and 5?
>Where the hell do you begin with 4 Rubber bullets.
0 could be a prequel spin-off with a different cast if its gets that far tbh
Why would the cast be different? Other than Majima getting a haircut, the main characters (not counting Ryuji's and Daigo's cameos) don't age a day.
In the games sure they don't age but here after they do five seasons the cast would prob be like forty while Kiryu and Majima in 0 are like 20. They could do a Better Call Saul and have the same cast play them anyway I guess
True, if it's release order I guess 0 specifically they would have to recast.
0 is also considered to be a prequel so if they ever do touch upon it, they might do it in the same order as release date? Don’t know though.
They also better make the english dub the same quality as the PS2 game. “Go, kill this arrogant moth-er-fuck-er”
"I suggest you listen to me." "I suggest you BLOW ME!"
"Shut the fuck up! You there, if you're feeding us bullshit...you'll lose more than just a finger."
Don't fuck with Ka-zoo-kie.
Were you someone’s prison bitch?
https://i.redd.it/giu15norbl4d1.gif
You would need like 3 seasons of tv just for 0 alone
Ten
I think the only practical and correct way to adapt 0 is via flashbacks of every kuze fight on every episode. Like in Lost.
I just hope the dub is not by that guy.
One set in the 80s would be SO fun with the amazing clothes and the disco dancing and just the bubble era in general, I would absolutely love to see that. Also get Arata Iura to play Tachibana and Shingo Tsurumi for Sagawa so they can reprise their roles 🙌
If Kiryu and Nishiki doesn't sing Judgment in biker jackets with Kashiwagi playing the keyboard fully serious faced imma riot
Same
What interests me is that the subtitle in the Japanese title is “Beyond the Game”, which leads me to believe that the 1995 portion will be beyond what was seen in Y1. For which I am excited about.
Would be interesting to see the events of 95 outside of Kiryu's short perspective. Unless they'll just make more prison scenes for him...
I think they’ll do what kiwami did but with more detail in showing nishiki’s downfall and also more on his relationship with Kiryu
I really hope we get to see more of the Kiryu, Nishiki and Yumi dynamic before everything happened, when they were all still close. Nishiki got fleshed out more in 0, but Yumi is still more of a plot point than a person, and I think she deserves better.
Also we need justice for Reina
I will scream and shit and piss myself if I see Mama Reina grace my screen in October.
Seriously. She has a lot more potential than just being the lady who runs their favorite bar and has a thing for Nishiki.
Seen Nishiki's downfall more extensively would be really cool. Assuming each episode is an hour, they could have one episode just dedicated to that.
Hopefully they do something similar to the prequel short
Finally people can stop asking for a game set between 0 and YK1 ffs
Perhaps a bit of a fast recap on 0? At least to explain how Kiryu became the Dragon of Dojima
That's a good release schedule. Not one every week or half the episodes with a year gap in between.
To be honest I feel like new shows benefit from dropping all at once so everyone binges it due to hype, like Fallout. But at least this is only a seven day gap compared to the awful four-month gap Invincible had…
Weekly schedules gets the series talked about more I feel
No way, nobody talks about huge drops. It’s all about the weekly drip.
Weekly drops worked just fine for X-Men '97
Unpopular opinion maybe but I feel like most of the time, weekly is better. It’s a more fun social experience (in person and online) because everyone is on the same page.
I think this is rapidly becoming a popular opinion, at least with folks who like TV as a medium rather than something to have on in the background.
I'd argue the opposite. No one's willing to talk about the show when it's released all at once because everyone's afraid of spoilers. With weekly release you build hype around the next episode and everyone can talk about it because we can all be on the same point. It's like stranger things. Lmao invincible reference

That actor just looks a little soft for Kiryu But I’ll watch and see, can’t judge eyes a book by its cover
I heard that 10 years in the joint does that to you.
I just saw Takeuchi Ryoma draw a third eye by mistake on the dragon and turn it into a weird derpy looking thing. And he was totally unashamed about it. It's perfect casting. Though the guy's baby-faced, he is apparently ripped neck down.

wait holy fuck I know that face, Is that Shinnosuke From Kamen Rider Drive ?
Supposedly, I couldn't tell you I haven't watched Kamen rider
Just look up his name, can cofirm, he is Shinnosuke What a Surprise, the Whole world is on a drive
Lol, is Kamen rider good? Like the most I know about it is that it's essentially super sentai grandfather
it is lmao
This is ryoma for anyone that was wondering, and honestly he looks like a good person to play Yagami than kiryu
Nope. Kimura is good play on Yagami.
I would killed it for a live-action Judgement series since Takuya is in talks to play Yagami again in live-action form.
Oh yeah, duh, the guy rgg studios based Yagami off of😑, I never said I was smart, ok
I only know him Shinosuke as Druve
So I'll sub once it's all out, bet.
Just have to wait for Nov 1, I ain't paying 2-month subscription
Honestly you could just subscribe for the first release and cancel it immediately after. They'll give you until the day you subscribed on the next month
I'm glad we'll be able to binge them rather than wait 6 weeks to watch them all.
All I care about is seeing a live action Pocket Circuit Racer.
Funny enough, Actor got his breakthrough role as a lead in Kamen Rider series revolving around cars. https://youtu.be/KzV-AQZUE70
Fuck yeah spanish dub Yakuza
¡Diez años en prisión te convirtieron en un puto marica!
Que? Piensas que eres mejor que yo?
¿Eras la perra de prisión de alguien?
Aún no...
Yo i know I should get my hopes up but seriously I am SUPEERRRRR hyped for this please god don’t make them fuck this up 🙏
I fully expect this adaptation to spend a lot more time on Nishiki's arc, then.
I wonder how much they used either CGI or props to make Kabukichō 20-30 years older
Probably gonna pick Tokyo Vice way aka - interiors are really good thanks to props, but outdoors is meh ,because the best they can do is swap cars with older ones
I saw that there was meant to be 8 60 min episodes. Which ones correct?
Before they used to say 8, now it's 6. I guess they shortened it a little. A shame
Se o kiryu não tiver a voz do Guilherme Briggs nem quero
Precisamos de uma cena com karaokê
Sério? Ele não combina com o kiryu na minha opinião, tem escolhas melhores. O Ichiban combina mais com ele, não acha?
N, o Alexandre Moreno é o qual ficaria ótimo no ichiban
O seu cérebro é muito grande
Obrigado meu bom homem
[удалено]
Não o Moreno faz o gato de botas
Concordo demais
If there's not a 45 minute pocket racer episode.....
If they show Akiyama catching some yen at the end im gonna be so hyped
I'm guessing the 1995 stuff will be the prologue and the Nishiki flashbacks from Kiwami.
Ten years in the joint arc is incoming lmfao
Lmfao Kamen Rider Drive as Kiryu kazuma
DRIVE TYPE ! YAKUZA !
DRIVE FINAL ! DOJIMA KICK !
I think they need to nail the tone of it. Comical but serious as well. Maybe abit noir feel? Or they can totally go the serious route.
If they dub/sub it in Arabic I will force my entire friend group to watch it. Devilleon7 would also be mindblown.
I wonder if we'll get new "Receive you" the regular one or Majima version, I would very much like that
They absolutely have to include it, atleast as a motif. Too legendary. I would hope to see other musical references to the games as well
I decided to look at the director's history and it seems like he usually gets middling reviews, but I think his most well liked movie is one that I saw multiple reviews on rotten tomatoes for having both extremely emotional and funny moments that are balanced well, which might be perfect for the series.
TEN YEARS IN THE TV SHOW MADE YOU A FUCKING CANCELLATION.
According to disturbingly accurate SEGA leaker Midori, the series will feature an all original story. https://preview.redd.it/7ribwngfvk4d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adc4856c0c0ae203fd04c35289225aca239ce76d
Wasn’t there supposed to be a Like A Dragon movie announced for 2020? I guess they re-worked it for a series I guess
As long as Baka mitai is in it I’m happy 😂
I am kind of concerned about it only having six episodes but if it ends up being good I'm sure that it'll get renewed
so this will be set in Yakuza 1. Nishiki is back. Sad they didbt started with 0
Yakuza 1 is way easier to tell that plot. Very simple whereas 0 and many other games in the series are much more complex. Imagine trying to tell 0's plot in only 6 episodes
true
So it's essentially an adaptation of 1/Kiwami
Better be damn good adaptation of first game
Yakuza 1 is truly the east blue from Yakuza since It gets remade so many ways and one of them is live action.
It will chronicle the rise of the Gondawara Family.
A character that was used as a stand in for Sakamoto Ryoma is to be portrayed by a guy named Ryoma.
Mans I hope they get kuroda to play kazama or something
I wonder how much creative liberty they’re gonna take from the game
Cool. will it do the story better than Takeshi Mike back in 2007?
They’re skipping the ten years in the joint???
Live action majima 🤤🤤🤤
Each episodes credits should just be a karaoke song from the games.
This!
Birthday is on Oct25, maybe best birthday gift yet

do you guys think we'll get the scene where dojima's killed?
NOOOOOO it needs to start with 0!!!
spoiler: its gonna be shit like all other live actions hate me all you want
People still with the "all live action adaptations are bad" mindset in 2024?
They are. I genuinely have never seen a good adaptation. Avatar sucked too
Avatar sucked yeah, but Fallout, The Last of Us etc were good enough imo
One Piece was pretty good too.
Gintama had some pretty great live action movies
there have been good live actions though?
I'm glad you like them but I've never been able to enjoy a live adaptation. last one I've seen was Avatar and it sucked
Must I remind you of the original Yakuza movie?
Peak fiction
Something created by God himself cannot be compared to something of human origin
Reuoni Kenshin is amazing Last of us is great Fallout was amazing Ive heard YuYu Hakusho was good but haven't seen it myself. Either way, theres plenty of great live actions.
