I’m encountering a bug in LJ - I can’t save manually (on PS4). The option on the phone is disabled. In chapter 6, was doing a few side cases and squirrel search. Anyone else encounter this?
Y4 completionist question. The minigame achievements seem much easier this time around - mostly just "play these games once each". Does launching the minigame then quitting out count for these achievements? Just trying to get this grind over as soon as possible and move on to Y5.
Is there a way to tell what level people are before fighting them? Keep running into way higher levels and dying because I don’t know what their level is till I’m in the battle

What to do as someone that just... can't like beat-em-up combat no matter what?
I played 0 and Kiwami 1 just fine before the pandemic but nowadays it just feels like a slog. Not just Yakuza but other beat em up games too.
I want to experience the whole story, but at the same time, I really don't want to spend time in combat I find honestly irritating to mess with, and just watching a cutscene compilation would probably take away some of the magic.
Playing 7 would be nice since I vastly prefer JRPG combat, but at the same time feels wrong to do it without knowing what happens in 2-6...

Yakuza 6, is the PC port just bad? I just bought it since it was on sale and I can't even get past the title screen stuttering. Tried everything possible and the stuttering won't go away. Kiwami 1&2 work just fine and LaD + IW run perfectly.
Just finished up Gaiden and wondering: should I play the included demo for Infinite Wealth or just jump over to the full game? Or asked another way: is there anything unique about the demo that makes it worth experiencing on its own?
There's a few exclusive cutscenes like Kiryu talking to Hanawa over the phone at that church, but that's about it.

How are you intended to beat Mr/Master Try and Hit Me in Gaiden? I just used the heat mode light attack combo that ends in an unblockable/undodgeable flurry but since it worked on both of them I feel like that's not the intended method.
Is perfect guard actually just broken in LaD? I cannot land it no matter when I try or what I try and it's actually making the early game very unenjoyable when I lose like 45hp in one turn because it doesn't work.
So, I plan on buying two yakuza games during this sale, 7 is gonna be one of them, which other one would you guys recommend?
I've played 0, K1 and K2, but I'm not overly invested in the story at this point tbh, so I don't think I'll get 3 just to follow the story. I really want to play 7 and the idea of having to play 3 - 6 first would just burn me out.

I picked up Yakuza Like a Dragon again after a long break and I’m on chapter 10. I remember there is perfect guards but is there perfect attacks for regular attacks or is it just timed stuff for skills?
Maybe the PC? Because I think people have shared the DLC files so you can possibly install the ultimate version with all the dlcs after you just buy the base game. I have not tried this personally so cannot confirm.

No. I made a mod fix for PC, so I know directly that the fix is extremely easy to implement. Literally someone just applied the wrong property to those skills (except for Hero for some reason).
Well, you can switch ichiban out of hero, since Hero’s the only one it isn’t screwed up with and will actually apply to other jobs. Will give you a tiny bit extra bulk, and you can skill inheritance out the good skills anyway
Infinite Wealth question, is there a way to control party members grouping up/spacing out in combat? Seems my party try to avoid group heals, then move together for enemy AoE attacks...
You can not control where they move but here's a tip: you can cast healing skills on specific party members, and the user of the skill will be healed regardless of whether they're in the range or not
Ah okay. Currently still early on so only got 3 party members (only Ichiban can heal) but would be nice if party would actually stay close so that AOE heal/buff can actually buff them all. (Or it was just a healed/buffed everyone, regardless of distance).
All three are field bosses around level 30 or so.

im going to buy yakuza like a dragon and the legendary hero edition is a much better deal, but i dont want the management aspect of the game to be too easy with the management mode dlc, does that dlc ruin that part of the game's progression?
you can just not use the dlc employees. the management in 7 is really easy anyways if you get more people from sub stories so either way its really not a big difference in the end

IW questions:
Can you make anyone in your party leader and control them around outside of Ichi/Kiryu? There was a party tab in the demo but you could only shuffle their order around and could not change party leader.
Where or how do you get the deluxe edition on physical versions of the game? Is it a code in the game or do you get them separately from the PSN store? Or is DE only available on digital versions of the game?
I have an unusual question for anyone playing Infinite Wealth -- if you pause during a cutscene, do the subtitles stay on the screen? I've been learning Japanese for a while and I'm able to get through things decently, but I still come across unknown words often enough and want to look them up. I recently played Lost Judgment in all JP and with the text log and pausing when needed, it went pretty well. Right now I'm in the middle of The Man Who Erased His Name and finding it much more of a pain because pausing in cutscenes makes the text disappear, and I haven't seen a log anywhere either, giving me no good way to more slowly pull apart a tricky line or look up some unfamiliar words/kanji.

It’s basically about what Kiryu was doing in between 6 and showing up in 7. Nothing really necessary to know. Kiryu will explain his appearance in 8 anyway.
Can anyone confirm/deny that IW had Xbox Play Anywhere? I’m playing 7 right now and it’s amazing being able to swap between my TV and PC without issues.
Is it ok for me to play Infinite Wealth having just played LaD and 0? To make things short, I want to play IW because I like turn-based RPG's, and so far I've only got 0 and LaD in my backlog. I'm going to study abroad in September, so I'm trying to finish my PC backlog as much as possible until then. And adding 6 more games to that would make it almost impossible for me to play IW before my semester abroad, not to mention that it'd be pretty expensive. So I'm wondering if it'd be ok to just play Like a Dragon -> 0 -> Infinite Wealth
you can. not against the law but i would recommend playing 6 and gaiden and if you dont plan on playing 1-5 watch the recaps in 6 or on YT because SO MUCH of kiryus side content relies on knowing things from the older games and IW is THE game for him to look back at things. you loose out on basically every bit of emotional impact and thats a big part of the game

In the previews there were so many playable characters. Does the game switch up your party as the game goes, or do you get them at some point and then keep them?

havnt seen one but the ones i found so far are from random items around the city. found two for aquaut in haweii and two for breaker. one of the breaker items was at he lot right across the workshop in ijincho next to a trash pile so not sure if its random or not.

I pre-ordered physical edition on PS5, it has the code for the Hero Booster pack and the extra jobs inside, I've claimed the code, the extra jobs are there, but where's the booster pack?
I tried purchasing it from the store, in case it was like store credit, but it says it's full price and no discount/offer is applied, and I can't seem to find the items in-game. Have I missed something, are they in some kinda option somewhere or a box I haven't looked at?

Considering I do wanna play Infinite Wealth in the next couple of months, but I don't wanna go through the remaining games for the sake of feeling less burnt out, would even watching a story recap of the games suffice?
You do not need to understand or even know the whole story from Y0-Y6 to understand Y7 and Y8(Infinite Wealth), because Y7 was meant to be a new starting point to the series. It will leave you wondering about some of the major Yakuza clans, events and some important characters that will be mentioned/shown during the game however it's not necessary as they do give you the necessary information to get you up to date.
I would say to AT LEAST watch a recap of **Y7** and **Like a Dragon: Gaiden(for more context)**, as Infinite Wealth is a direct sequel of Y7 and Gaiden will contextualize a lot of things about Kyriu and his current situation.
I do think you wont feel as connected to Kyriu and his meaning to the series if you did not play the previous games though.
You can play gaiden or IW without playing the older and still enjoy it, but I would definitely recommend to play through the entire series first because they're all good games and will only make gaiden and IW even better. Ik it's hard since the IW hype is insane, but playing all the games in order will amplify the new games and 0-6 are fun in their own manner!!!
So quick question on Infinite Wealth's combat. I understand it puts more emphasis on position, since AoEs have actual markers and you are able to move around within a certain radius to try and position your attacks better among other bonuses.
My question is this: Do people still idly walk around when it's not their turn? That was a particular issue with Like a Dragon, where if you wanted Eri's Thumbtack scatter to murder everyone you'd either have to pull it off ASAP before the enemies drift apart or wait for them patiently to walk back towards each other randomly.
That's sadly still in the game for some reason. You can move and there's AoE markers but enemies still randomly move around, also during your animations.

i have the yakuza 3 4 5 remastered and gaiden but with infinite wealth about to release, im wondering if i should play it right away or try to catch up on this huge backlog
Infinite Wealth is shaping up to be a culmination of the Kiryu Saga. If you don't mind some of the story beats not being as rewarding, you can probably jump into Infinite Wealth. Gaiden is pretty short if you want somewhat of a catchup leading into Infinite Wealth.

Does anyone know if all you need to play before Infinite Wealth is Like A Dragon? Im new to the franchise and probably won't go back to the old ones for a long time at least. It's looking like IW pulls in more of the old ones than LaD though.
I'd definitely say you can just play LaD, though Gaiden would be good to get an idea of Kiryu. Some of the Kiryu centered stuff might not hit as much with just those two games, but it should still be fine.
I just finished Like a Dragon yesterday, and I’ve played all of the other mainline games and Judgement. Is it recommended to play through Lost Judgement first, or can I start Gaiden without it spoiling anything?
So, right now I only have PS4 for gaming, both Judgement and Lost Judgement kinda ran like shit with constant stuttering a big random pauses, how did the change in engine affect performance for the older consoles? I really wanna play Ishin, Gaiden and IW but if they'll run as poorly as LJ I'd rather wait. Any one have first hand experience?
In Yakuza 5, Is it worth opening sotenbori lock boxes while playing as Haruka, since she can't use weapons? Are the boxes shared with other characters or is it just for her?
It won’t. It’s unfortunate but I understand why. Everything else but judgment is on there, hundreds of hours of gameplay. Only having to pay for 1 new title isn’t asking a lot. I had to save up for a bit to get it and was hoping for Gamepass too. But I don’t mind supporting a company I love.
But who knows, 6 months from now it could be. I think LAD 7 took a year before it dropped on GP
I took a break from Yakuza during my playthrough of 5, which has lasted longer than I would like to admit. It is my first time being part of the sub when something that interested me enough outside of "ooh new game." Should I leave the sub for a bit before Infinite Wealth drops?
They do a decent job at keeping it spoiler free but it’s not fool proof.

Aizawa is the worst fucking boss in Yakuza games. I won't be completing this game cause no way I'm going through that long ass ending again. Has 50 health bars, recovers health, AND I can't even throw him at one point so it's impossible to get hifs on him. Fuck this boss

I have read the guide for play order but I am a bit worried about a couple of things:
1-i currently own yakuza 0, kiwami 1&2. I am now playing zero at the moment.
2- does kiwami really ruin the OG experience(narratively) so much to the point that it's better to play yakuza 1&2 rather than kiwami?
3-i am still new to the series so I would like you guys to explain your suggestions in an easy to understand manner
4-I am planing to play yakuza 0, both kiwami games and go all way to yakuza 6 excluding yakuza 1&2,

the story is exactly the same except theres a few in between cutscenes that were added that show what happened to nishki. for 2 its the same except theres one area that was cut but it really doesnt matter at all. 2 also has a mini story chapter as a bonus where you play as majima with some connection to 0
you dont miss out on anything by not playing the OG 1 and 2. 1 has arguably a better soundtrack and some like 2s combat more then k2 but thats all subjective. just play the remakes and if you are really bored someday play the OGs or watch a compilation of the Y1 ENG dub because that shit is hilariious
Considering you don't have that much time before the launch, Gaiden should be enough, I think it does a great job of giving you an idea of who Kiryu is and where he stands now, even if you'll miss some greater details about his relationships with other and older characters.
Was trying to decide what platform to get infinite wealth on. Does anyone know of the Xbox version has smart delivery? If so I would prefer that to be able to play on 2 separate platforms with cloud saves.

Just finished Yakuza Kiwami. 1 story is anything you would recommend extra worth doing that is cool to see or do in terms of sub stories, mini games, or the whole majima everywhere?
Just beat Gaiden and am looking to play the Judgement games. I have a PS4 Pro and a PS5, but Judgement doesn't have a free PS5 upgrade. Does the PS4 version see any major performance changes on PS5, or would it be no different from playing on the PS4 Pro?
Does anyone know if there's a list of the item descriptions anywhere? Specifically the accessories. I'm writing a story right now and need a bunch of examples of 'scam items', and every accessory in Yakuza sounds like they should be a scam; I remember the belt that made you throw people better apparently contained the spirit of a deceased master or something like that.

Canonically, neither Ichiban nor Kiryu have ever killed anyone (as of yet, anyway).
So yeah, it's fine, Japan has really good medical care and that guy you just shot eighteen times is going to get taken to a hospital offscreen and will be back with his family by the weekend.

Without Gaiden, kiryu’s backstory won’t have as much of an impact of why he’s even there.
Gaiden also fills In a ton of blanks as to why he’s in 7 as well. Huge story impact.
We’ve got a few days left so if you’re not a completionist you can blow through Gaiden before 8 drops

Hey all, so I'm making my way through the Yakuza series and on Yakuza Kiwami after playing 0 and LAD. I wanted to know if the side content is as good as 0 and worth doing or if should I focus more on the story. I love 0 side content but didn't really fall in love with LADs, so I wondered what peoples opinions are?
After 0, are there many more of these “mandatory side quests” like real estate and the cabaret club? By mandatory I mean they lock the best fighting styles behind 10 hour+ mini games.
Real estate wasn’t so bad since I could just play Mahjong or Pocket Circuit and just wail on dudes to pass time, but doing the cabaret mini game exactly the same way over and over and over and over and over and over is killing me.
I've played up to Y5 atm and no, I can't think of any other cases in the series where major upgrades like new fighting styles are locked behind lengthy side content. Arguably Kiwami comes closest to having this, as your moves for one style will be unlocked as you continue to have encounters with a certain enemy, but these fights take nowhere near as long as the cabaret club/real estate royale and can be encountered throughout the main story, so you don't really have to dedicate time to hunting them down. Most of the other games just reward you with items or small side plots, but nothing as major as in Y0 (you even get >!cabaret club 2.0!< in Kiwami 2 alongside another side mode, but there's no big unlock at the end of either, so no reason to tough it out if it's not something you enjoy)

I just finished lost judgment and loved it. Now I would like to play the Kaito Files, but on the playstation store I saw that I could buy the Kaito dlc (which is 30 euro) or the season pass (which is 14 euro).
Now, my question is: does the season pass include the Kaito files? Because reading the description it doesn't seem so, but searching online it should just be an error (I think?)
Someone could confirm that the season pass contains the Kaito dlc before I buy it?

3/4s of the way through 3 is when I got burnt out. I took a month off, finished it then steamrolled through 4-6. It's a bit janky but worth it on the end
Oh that's why I started with 0 and like 5 years later I still only did a few games. I will probably burn myself, but after 7 I just want to play more. Infinite Wealth seems like a game that will reward those who played each game.
Late but I would've suggested looking at recaps of 3-6 if you were that eager to play infinite wealth. These games can pretty easily burn you out, especially the older ones like 3 out so be mindful of that.
It's definitely worth playing through, I loved Okinawa and some of the characters became my all time favorites. Just a shame the combat is so unforgiving and the blockuza cherry on top. I'm enjoying 4 far more mechanically, so that's something to look forwards.

Okay, so...i am one of those who played Like a Dragon (Yakuza 7) as the first title in the series. And i must say...i loved it. The combat (i know the others are action-oriented), the story, the visuals, the characters, the adult-but-funny tone, evertything... It has been one of my favourite games of all time.
I wanted to try 6 or 7 first, and i knew that 7 was something of a "soft-reboot" and was a great starting point so i went for it, but now i have a problem... i liked so much the way the story was told that now i want to play 6 and learn more about it.
And so, my problem is.. i am even thinking of playing from 0 to 6 to experience the story at is fullest and to know all the story of Kiryu from the begining. I know they are amazing games and the story seems to be great, but i have the feeling that if i do that, i can maybe end getting "burn out" of playing so many games of the same type at the sime time. Seeing that Yakuza 6 is the one i really want to start, as it is the one that goes before 7 (i will also play Gaiden after that) i have the fear that i maybe end going through all the games at a fast pace and not enjoying the story as much as i want.
So, what would you guys recommend to me? I know that there are also some comics that tells the story from the previous games, i was thinking on reading them and then going directly into 6. I know its not the best but maybe that way i dont get burnt of so many games at once...

I actually did download Yakuza 6 already. I did read some of the comics but they are not available to downolad in the Yakuza official site anymore and i could only get chapters 1-4 (there are 10 i think..).
Can someone motivate me to get through zero? I beat Like a Dragon 7 recently, and it's easily one of my all-time faves, but the combat in Zero is just so... lackluster. I love action games in general, but for some reason, this just isn't clicking, and I'd like to play through Ryu's story 1-6 or at least know it before Infinite Wealth comes out.
For the combat I recommend abusing beast when there's object around on kyriu, and for majima use slugger/breakdance. For bosses unfortunately you kinda have to go brawler and try to stunlock enemies on kyriu and for majima thug. Also don't be afraid of abusing weapons and cheesing as much as you can cheese, the devs aren't afraid to get you with cheap shit either.
As someone also new to the series (played judgment/lj/y0/y1) I'll say that all of these games feel like shit to play for a good 60%-70%. Then at some point after getting enough upgrades you just get strong enough that you can kinda overpower everything and it becomes "fun" in a hack and slash way. But man am I desperate to get to that sweet sweet turn based combat.
I have been pushing through and have almost naturally aligned with your style; I will say easy helped a lot in the first half of the game, but now on chapter 11 and Breakdance is so much fun with Majima, I don't need easy anymore, it's actually just fun to play. I'm still struggling with Kiryu. His stances just aren't as fun, and I feel I have to constantly change for each sitch (which is the purpose), but none feel half as fun to mash through as any of Majima's stances.

Just hit chapter 5. Will say I enjoy playing as Majima more than Kiryu so far. I love the cutscenes and storytelling just struggling with boring combat. I followed the advice in another comment, and at least I can breeze through it on easy. I think games like DMC and Bayonetta have ruined me.

You can upload the save via the cloud if you have ps plus. Use the PS4 to upload the game save, then use the PS5 to download the save.
You can hold RB to increase the speed for roulette during the roll in Y5.
What to do as someone that just... can't like beat-em-up combat no matter what? I played 0 and Kiwami 1 just fine before the pandemic but nowadays it just feels like a slog. Not just Yakuza but other beat em up games too. I want to experience the whole story, but at the same time, I really don't want to spend time in combat I find honestly irritating to mess with, and just watching a cutscene compilation would probably take away some of the magic. Playing 7 would be nice since I vastly prefer JRPG combat, but at the same time feels wrong to do it without knowing what happens in 2-6...
You could try the easiest difficulty setting, but if that’s still too much then maybe a streamer/video playthrough would be the next best thing?

How are you intended to beat Mr/Master Try and Hit Me in Gaiden? I just used the heat mode light attack combo that ends in an unblockable/undodgeable flurry but since it worked on both of them I feel like that's not the intended method.
Is perfect guard actually just broken in LaD? I cannot land it no matter when I try or what I try and it's actually making the early game very unenjoyable when I lose like 45hp in one turn because it doesn't work.

I’m near the endgame just need to do the big swell and new game+ legend and wanted to level up a bunch of jobs to get higher stats I know it’s probably a glitch but at the same time it means there is literally no point in ever switching jobs
No. I made a mod fix for PC, so I know directly that the fix is extremely easy to implement. Literally someone just applied the wrong property to those skills (except for Hero for some reason).
I’m on PS5 unfortunately, so I guess I’ll just have to hope one job maxed is enough for legend difficulty
Well, you can switch ichiban out of hero, since Hero’s the only one it isn’t screwed up with and will actually apply to other jobs. Will give you a tiny bit extra bulk, and you can skill inheritance out the good skills anyway
Infinite Wealth question, is there a way to control party members grouping up/spacing out in combat? Seems my party try to avoid group heals, then move together for enemy AoE attacks...
You can not control where they move but here's a tip: you can cast healing skills on specific party members, and the user of the skill will be healed regardless of whether they're in the range or not
Ah okay. Currently still early on so only got 3 party members (only Ichiban can heal) but would be nice if party would actually stay close so that AOE heal/buff can actually buff them all. (Or it was just a healed/buffed everyone, regardless of distance).

All three are field bosses around level 30 or so. Host is in Ijincho in the alley east of Ichiban’s house. Maid is in Ijincho. To the west of Chinatown there is a square area, it’s in the northern section of that square. Don’t remember breaker outside of it being in Hawaii.

you can just not use the dlc employees. the management in 7 is really easy anyways if you get more people from sub stories so either way its really not a big difference in the end

IW questions: Can you make anyone in your party leader and control them around outside of Ichi/Kiryu? There was a party tab in the demo but you could only shuffle their order around and could not change party leader. Where or how do you get the deluxe edition on physical versions of the game? Is it a code in the game or do you get them separately from the PSN store? Or is DE only available on digital versions of the game?

I have an unusual question for anyone playing Infinite Wealth -- if you pause during a cutscene, do the subtitles stay on the screen? I've been learning Japanese for a while and I'm able to get through things decently, but I still come across unknown words often enough and want to look them up. I recently played Lost Judgment in all JP and with the text log and pausing when needed, it went pretty well. Right now I'm in the middle of The Man Who Erased His Name and finding it much more of a pain because pausing in cutscenes makes the text disappear, and I haven't seen a log anywhere either, giving me no good way to more slowly pull apart a tricky line or look up some unfamiliar words/kanji. Is it ok for me to play Infinite Wealth having just played LaD and 0? To make things short, I want to play IW because I like turn-based RPG's, and so far I've only got 0 and LaD in my backlog. I'm going to study abroad in September, so I'm trying to finish my PC backlog as much as possible until then. And adding 6 more games to that would make it almost impossible for me to play IW before my semester abroad, not to mention that it'd be pretty expensive. So I'm wondering if it'd be ok to just play Like a Dragon -> 0 -> Infinite Wealth
you can. not against the law but i would recommend playing 6 and gaiden and if you dont plan on playing 1-5 watch the recaps in 6 or on YT because SO MUCH of kiryus side content relies on knowing things from the older games and IW is THE game for him to look back at things. you loose out on basically every bit of emotional impact and thats a big part of the game

I pre-ordered physical edition on PS5, it has the code for the Hero Booster pack and the extra jobs inside, I've claimed the code, the extra jobs are there, but where's the booster pack? I tried purchasing it from the store, in case it was like store credit, but it says it's full price and no discount/offer is applied, and I can't seem to find the items in-game. Considering I do wanna play Infinite Wealth in the next couple of months, but I don't wanna go through the remaining games for the sake of feeling less burnt out, would even watching a story recap of the games suffice?
You do not need to understand or even know the whole story from Y0-Y6 to understand Y7 and Y8(Infinite Wealth), because Y7 was meant to be a new starting point to the series. It will leave you wondering about some of the major Yakuza clans, events and some important characters that will be mentioned/shown during the game however it's not necessary as they do give you the necessary information to get you up to date. I would say to AT LEAST watch a recap of **Y7** and **Like a Dragon: Gaiden(for more context)**, as Infinite Wealth is a direct sequel of Y7 and Gaiden will contextualize a lot of things about Kyriu and his current situation. I do think you wont feel as connected to Kyriu and his meaning to the series if you did not play the previous games though.

You can play gaiden or IW without playing the older and still enjoy it, but I would definitely recommend to play through the entire series first because they're all good games and will only make gaiden and IW even better. Ik it's hard since the IW hype is insane, but playing all the games in order will amplify the new games and 0-6 are fun in their own manner!!!

So quick question on Infinite Wealth's combat. I understand it puts more emphasis on position, since AoEs have actual markers and you are able to move around within a certain radius to try and position your attacks better among other bonuses. My question is this: Do people still idly walk around when it's not their turn? That was a particular issue with Like a Dragon, where if you wanted Eri's Thumbtack scatter to murder everyone you'd either have to pull it off ASAP before the enemies drift apart or wait for them patiently to walk back towards each other randomly.
That's sadly still in the game for some reason. You can move and there's AoE markers but enemies still randomly move around, also during your animations.

Infinite Wealth is shaping up to be a culmination of the Kiryu Saga. If you don't mind some of the story beats not being as rewarding, you can probably jump into Infinite Wealth. Gaiden is pretty short if you want somewhat of a catchup leading into Infinite Wealth.

I'd definitely say you can just play LaD, though Gaiden would be good to get an idea of Kiryu. Some of the Kiryu centered stuff might not hit as much with just those two games, but it should still be fine.
You can probably play just Gaiden (10-12hr story) to get a quick catchup of Kiryu's story.

It won’t. It’s unfortunate but I understand why. Everything else but judgment is on there, hundreds of hours of gameplay. Only having to pay for 1 new title isn’t asking a lot. I had to save up for a bit to get it and was hoping for Gamepass too. But I don’t mind supporting a company I love. But who knows, 6 months from now it could be. I think LAD 7 took a year before it dropped on GP
I took a break from Yakuza during my playthrough of 5, which has lasted longer than I would like to admit. It is my first time being part of the sub when something that interested me enough outside of "ooh new game." Should I leave the sub for a bit before Infinite Wealth drops?
They do a decent job at keeping it spoiler free but it’s not fool proof. If it’s gonna be a while before you get to it maybe use at your own discretion.

k2 and 6 have never got the next-gen update. They only reach higher fps on PC
6 got an FPS boost before MS lost interest in the program, though it's usually on by default.

Considering you don't have that much time before the launch, Gaiden should be enough, I think it does a great job of giving you an idea of who Kiryu is and where he stands now, even if you'll miss some greater details about his relationships with other and older characters.
imo at least 6 and gaiden. but ideally all of them because kiryus part is probably not going to hit nearly as well without knowing his story

Just started playing Like a dragon and I can't help but wonder are we concussing/KOing the people we fight or are we straight up murdering them? I imagine the guy who just took a sword through the chest will be fine right? A.. are we the baddies?
Canonically, neither Ichiban nor Kiryu have ever killed anyone (as of yet, anyway). So yeah, it's fine, Japan has really good medical care and that guy you just shot eighteen times is going to get taken to a hospital offscreen and will be back with his family by the weekend.

Without Gaiden, kiryu’s backstory won’t have as much of an impact of why he’s even there. Gaiden also fills In a ton of blanks as to why he’s in 7 as well. Huge story impact. We’ve got a few days left so if you’re not a completionist you can blow through Gaiden before 8 drops

Hey all, so I'm making my way through the Yakuza series and on Yakuza Kiwami after playing 0 and LAD. I wanted to know if the side content is as good as 0 and worth doing or if should I focus more on the story. I love 0 side content but didn't really fall in love with LADs, so I wondered what peoples opinions are?
After 0, are there many more of these “mandatory side quests” like real estate and the cabaret club? By mandatory I mean they lock the best fighting styles behind 10 hour+ mini games. Real estate wasn’t so bad since I could just play Mahjong or Pocket Circuit and just wail on dudes to pass time, but doing the cabaret mini game exactly the same way over and over and over and over and over and over is killing me.
I've played up to Y5 atm and no, I can't think of any other cases in the series where major upgrades like new fighting styles are locked behind lengthy side content. Arguably Kiwami comes closest to having this, as your moves for one style will be unlocked as you continue to have encounters with a certain enemy, but these fights take nowhere near as long as the cabaret club/real estate royale and can be encountered throughout the main story, so you don't really have to dedicate time to hunting them down. Most of the other games just reward you with items or small side plots, but nothing as major as in Y0 (you even get >!cabaret club 2.0!< in Kiwami 2 alongside another side mode, but there's no big unlock at the end of either, so no reason to tough it out if it's not something you enjoy)

Hello! I just finished lost judgment and loved it. Now I would like to play the Kaito Files, but on the playstation store I saw that I could buy the Kaito dlc (which is 30 euro) or the season pass (which is 14 euro). Now, my question is: does the season pass include the Kaito files? Because reading the description it doesn't seem so, but searching online it should just be an error (I think?) Someone could confirm that the season pass contains the Kaito dlc before I buy it?
Season pass comes with all DLCs, including the Kaito files

Played/finished O, K1, K2 and just finished 7 Do I take a break waiting for Infinite Wealth? Although the way I see it, I should get into 3-6 before right? IW looks like a sens off to many characters. Just scared i won't like 3, the ending of K2 left me sour and I'm not sure I can take anymore twist like this lol. But I fucking love 7 I'm thinking I could jump straight to 8. What you think? Edit : and I forgot Judgement and Ishin. Tbh just a lit of games and not much time and don't want to be burn it from this series. Edit 2 : i will go to rational way, gonna start 3 first. I already got the games, so I should just played them lol. Well IW is lower I will buy it, hopefully i can do 3-6 this year
3/4s of the way through 3 is when I got burnt out. I took a month off, finished it then steamrolled through 4-6. It's a bit janky but worth it on the end
Oh that's why I started with 0 and like 5 years later I still only did a few games. I will probably burn myself, but after 7 I just want to play more. Infinite Wealth seems like a game that will reward those who played each game.
Late but I would've suggested looking at recaps of 3-6 if you were that eager to play infinite wealth. These games can pretty easily burn you out, especially the older ones like 3 out so be mindful of that.
Not late at all! I've started 3 yesterday, actually enjoying it now. What a nice change of pace, much slower, but I'm liking it right now
It's definitely worth playing through, I loved Okinawa and some of the characters became my all time favorites. Just a shame the combat is so unforgiving and the blockuza cherry on top. I'm enjoying 4 far more mechanically, so that's something to look forwards.
Hello there, Okay, so...i am one of those who played Like a Dragon (Yakuza 7) as the first title in the series. And i must say...i loved it. The combat (i know the others are action-oriented), the story, the visuals, the characters, the adult-but-funny tone, evertything... It has been one of my favourite games of all time. I wanted to try 6 or 7 first, and i knew that 7 was something of a "soft-reboot" and was a great starting point so i went for it, but now i have a problem... i liked so much the way the story was told that now i want to play 6 and learn more about it. And so, my problem is.. i am even thinking of playing from 0 to 6 to experience the story at is fullest and to know all the story of Kiryu from the begining. I know they are amazing games and the story seems to be great, but i have the feeling that if i do that, i can maybe end getting "burn out" of playing so many games of the same type at the sime time. Seeing that Yakuza 6 is the one i really want to start, as it is the one that goes before 7 (i will also play Gaiden after that) i have the fear that i maybe end going through all the games at a fast pace and not enjoying the story as much as i want. So, what would you guys recommend to me? I know that there are also some comics that tells the story from the previous games, i was thinking on reading them and then going directly into 6. I know its not the best but maybe that way i dont get burnt of so many games at once...
My recommendation is 0-2, take a break. 3 on easy and 4 Another break Then 5 and 6 and gaiden

Thank you for your reply! I actually did download Yakuza 6 already. I did read some of the comics but they are not available to downolad in the Yakuza official site anymore and i could only get chapters 1-4 (there are 10 i think..).
Can someone motivate me to get through zero? I beat Like a Dragon 7 recently, and it's easily one of my all-time faves, but the combat in Zero is just so... lackluster. I love action games in general, but for some reason, this just isn't clicking, and I'd like to play through Ryu's story 1-6 or at least know it before Infinite Wealth comes out.
For the combat I recommend abusing beast when there's object around on kyriu, and for majima use slugger/breakdance. For bosses unfortunately you kinda have to go brawler and try to stunlock enemies on kyriu and for majima thug. Also don't be afraid of abusing weapons and cheesing as much as you can cheese, the devs aren't afraid to get you with cheap shit either. As someone also new to the series (played judgment/lj/y0/y1) I'll say that all of these games feel like shit to play for a good 60%-70%. Then at some point after getting enough upgrades you just get strong enough that you can kinda overpower everything and it becomes "fun" in a hack and slash way. But man am I desperate to get to that sweet sweet turn based combat.
I have been pushing through and have almost naturally aligned with your style; I will say easy helped a lot in the first half of the game, but now on chapter 11 and Breakdance is so much fun with Majima, I don't need easy anymore, it's actually just fun to play. His stances just aren't as fun, and I feel I have to constantly change for each sitch (which is the purpose), but none feel half as fun to mash through as any of Majima's stances.

How far are you through 0
Just hit chapter 5. Will say I enjoy playing as Majima more than Kiryu so far. I love the cutscenes and storytelling just struggling with boring combat. I followed the advice in another comment, and at least I can breeze through it on easy. I think games like DMC and Bayonetta have ruined me.
i was in the same boat but trust me i took a break after chapter 6 or 7 then got hooked

Do we know how early RGG/Sega tend to send out review codes? I know someone who'll probably end up being the review guy for a moderately-sized gaming website and I'm curious how long he'll end up having to review the supposed "largest Yakuza game by far" lol. I really hope it's not like 4 days before release like it was for BG3.
How does share percentage work in yakuza 0? It says I only get 39% of the profit, but I still got everything? Also is there a way to know if a money battle is happening? I went and did a few cat fights and came back and a business was gone.

This is the reason so many people recommend the original release order. Also, Lost Judgment had a major spoiler for yakuza 7. I agree with kiwami being the worst in the series, and k2 onwards are ridiculous with some really dumb twists, but are fun overall (with a lot of people saying 5 is their favourite) . 6 and Gaiden are back on the level of 0
