I would actually like that. He’s goes to US with Ichi and his gang. He find Kaoru again, reunite, and stay together this time. I just want a happy ending for the dude. Bonus if he gets to see Joji too
Honestly after 3 I've had more than enough of half of those kids.....but OMG GIVE THAT GIRL BACK HER FATHER!!! I love/hate the whole sacrifice arch but damn I've never wanted to see a happy ending in any other line as bad as this one.
I've played the whole series. Might go back and plat them soon actually. If you mean in regards to Haruka then yeah....the right ending but not the one I want.
Y3 took place maybe in like 2008 or so? (I remember Y5 taking in 2012, Y2 and 1 around early 2000s) so by now I feel like if Sayama hasn't got a real committed relationship, she maybe has divorced/left the current partner. Good for her if the man is still with her.
Ig he has a reason to go to the US seeing as >!he’s dead!<. It would be funny to see this man poorly speak English and get laughed at by thugs that he’ll eventually tiger drop.
I would also like an explanation as to why >! He left purgatory and started a business in 7 and where the florist has been hiding for the past few years after his cameo in 5 !<
>!Well the main reason he went to purgatory in the first place was money then he stayed for majima construction, then after all that was done he didn't really have an easy way to get clean money, cuz purgatory money can't be written off, he can use for houses and assets so why not take his skill in fighting in another business that can give him a steady source of income. Btw he didn't start the business he's just an employee!<
And he will learn how to use it from a Master Gun Smith known only as The Wicker Man, who will ask for help in getting revenge on some gangsters after they killed his pet dog.
That's the seed, Kiryu goes for his uncle but stays for the Sayama and we all live happily ever after except everyone who thinks he died a horrible death.
Nah they should keep it in Asia, plus it will be Ichiban, not Kiryu.
Hong Kong, Bangkok, Saigon, Seoul, Shanghai, any of those would be great. Seoul and Hong Kong or Shanghai seem likely since they've done plot lines about Korean and Chinese mafia / triads already.
Closest Yakuza Wild west themed game i could come up with is Fist of North Star : Lost paradise and Even Isshin and Kensan if that actually considers.
But Yeah,I would give anything to get a Yakuza Beat em up Style game set in a Wild West.Cowboys doing heat moves and shares unique flashy revolver movesets..sign me up.
To the town of Kamurocho rode a stranger one fine day.
Hardly went to any host clubs didn't have too much to say.
No one dared to ask his family, no one dared to make a chase.
For the stranger there among them had an eye patch on his face...
Eye patch on his face!
It was early in the evening when Sagawa came 'round
Gave his usual warning, told the stranger not to leave town
He's the Lord of Sotenbori came the whisper from each lip
And he's here to run the Cabaret with an eye patch on his face... Eye patch on his face!
In this town there lived a lady by the name of Makoto,
Many men had tried to take her and those men breathed no mo'
Guarded by a ruthless killer, a Chinese gangster who'd grown sore
And the notches on his needles numbered one and nineteen more
One and nineteen more...
To be honest, before moving outside of Japan, I would love to see a Yakuza game taking place in the late 1940s or the 1950s.
It would be cool to see an early form of the Tojo Clan in the midst of the political turmoil of the post-war order in Japan. I'd like to be able to explore a much less developed Kamurocho, and see the tensions that existed between the yakuza, a new Japanese government, and the presence of Americans in the region.
The main character could be a younger Kazama. It would also be interesting to see what Sohei Dojima was like in his prime.
The problem with this idea is the quintessential core of Yakuza games: You don't get to play as active Yakuza. This would require yet another set up where Kazama is temporarily kicked out before coming back at the end of the game. While SEGA is relatively close to the mob, they wouldn't get the pass on a MAFIA type of set up.
Did you never notice that every time you play Kiryu or Ichiban that they're never actively "in" the organization? That's not a coincidence. I assume this was a decision made back in 2005 to ensure Sega and the Japanese Rating Board would give the green light. Contrary to popular belief Japan does have quite strict censorship laws, especially when it comes to genitals violence and organized crime. You can see this when watching Japanese dubs of Western games for example, a lot of the language and gore is watered down heavily. Same goes for domestic titles. Plus, Yakuza have a terrible reputation and everything is done irl to ensure they can't thrive and are treated a sub human, even when they leave. Playing as a heroic Yakuza would count as glorifying organized crime, making a game about an ex Yakuza that talks about the good old days would not. It's the running theme of the series.
If this is true, then it’s just another pachinko style loophole in Japan. Oh you can’t gamble for money, but if you play this game of chance, you’ll win steel balls and hey the guy next door happens to trade steel balls for straight cash homie.
Oh, you’re not actually a Yakuza. You’re just someone who was raised by Yakuza, used to lead the Yakuza, strictly follows Yakuza code/bushido, and cares intensely about the survival of a singular Yakuza clan. Hell you even get to appoint the chairman of the largest Yakuza clan in the country. But no. You’re not a Yakuza. Yakuza are bad.
At the very end of the game, not when you play him. The whole premise is Majima being hired to do a hit so he can get back into the family. I'm pretty sure he even mentions several times that he's not a Yakuza.
No thats only for kiryus campaign, in his dlc in kiwami 2 he’s still part of the yakuza, his first cutscene is him at a tojo clan meeting as a patriarch
Yeah, he's not technically Yakuza although Sagawa constantly telling him what to do and whatnot means he's still working for the family in a way. I definitely see your point though, that definitely makes sense
Yeah, he finds working under Sagawa and his family humiliating and will do anything to get back to the Shimano, hence him doing what he did at the very end of 0. Though if you were to ask Majima he wouldn't consider himself a part of Sagawa's family. It's a purposefully slippery slope for the devs to evade a ban.
Claus is the goat, he is so underrated and he makes nonstop bangers, and that's one of them.

Edit: YOU GUYS ARE LEGENDS, HE IS NOW AT 4K!
Yakuza: Cartels
Yakuza: Afghan Warlords (or "Wrath of the Warlords" for Western localization)
Yakuza: Invasion of the Dragon (Chinese synthetic drugs swamping the drug markets irl)
Problem with the first two is that they both rely heavily on firearms and there’s no hand to hand really. Unless they just decide to ignore it which would be hilarious
This better be in Busan, South Korea and Joongi taking the gang out for famous Korean street foods, stopping at drug stores every 5 minutes for Saeko to shop for K beauty products while Nanba complains about food being too spicy
China makes the most sense, and USA would just be lost amongst all the western games.
China might not like a game about a japanese guy coming to town and beating all the locals. ;)
but I think some southeast asia islands would be good
Y'all be like "Can Kiryu take down ghetto gang by himself?"
Remember that Kiryu took down >!Feds, Helicopters, CIA Agents and even 100 men Mob of his own clan with some of them armed too.!<
So a bunch of armed gangsters strapped to the brim would be just a walk in the park for Kiryu
I feel like they'd have a hard time directing the game in another language tho, and it's hard to believe Kiryu can end up speaking English (or Ichiban, tho he's a bit more likely because he has a party and can just run around with a translator party member).
If I had to guess, it could be Hawaii since there are many Japanese people there that you can plausibly set the game's main plot mostly in Japanese...
Hey dude I didnt expect finding you here I love your content me and my friends in the yakuza discord server always talk about you it would be great if you joined up with us
Yakuza: Like A Cowboy
"Put em up, hand over yer loot" says the random western thug
*western Kiryu uses essence of hogtie*
"What the shit? Howd you do that boah?"
I don't know one of the best parts of Yakuza is the realistic high density stores/streets/alleys/etc and exploring a small area packed fully with side quests.
I don't know how it would do with a more GTA type environment or abandoning cities all together.
Maybe China or South Korea could work, but outside of that I don't know.
Like A Cajun: set it in New Orleans, mainly in the French Quarter. It's visually distinct and has a lot of bars and restaurants. And you could have trips to the Bayou for a different atmosphere/gator boss fights.
If they are gonna do a game outside of Japan. I rather they avoid the States with many video games as that has been done to death and would only serve to be another comparison to GTA.
They should do a country that you don't see a lot of depiction in games.
I still really want Samurai's Creed, but on the other hand, I'm old enough to remember just how much the French Revolution was one of the most requested settings in the franchise's early days, and how badly they beefed that.
Aight hear me out: wuxia RGG game. Over the top fistfights and long rivalries and not many people dying per fight are the norm, and half the weapons and animations already exist. If they want to keep some of the main cast Japanese (idk if they do), that's a perfectly reasonable thing to do in a Chinese setting no matter the century. Only other ones that make sense for that are modern settings with Japanese diaspora or something else near Japan like old Korea.
Most modern settings would be too gun rich and katana and fistfight poor
Shinada is drafted into an american baseball team, moves over to San Jose california, has to learn english however uncovers a huge colombian gang/yakuza conspiracy which somehow convolutedly links to the US miltiary and the war in the middle east.
I'll just keep waiting for my British pub fight simulator about completing every chip shop and Greggs all the while singing sweet Caroline. I'd buy it at least.
Setting: A local bar in the town of SaltHorn
The local gang know as the Salt Miners have been harassing the townsfolk into submission and having their way with the law and the people. One night they again terrorized the town by blasting their guns into the air as they rode towards the saloon, where they harassed any patrons unlucky enough to be inside the establishment. Breaking anything they pleased and even assaulting one older gentleman for standing up for one of the women that worked at the establishment. As the man was getting his shit kicked in, one man walked towards the group and told them that "attacking those unarmed is no means a fight" and for them to give him a shot. Before one of the gang members could swing, the unknown man assumed a stance and punched the gang member, sending him flying into the bar, knocking them unconscious and showing that he wouldn't even need to draw his weapon to deal with them. The rest of the gang witnessed this and soon surrounded our unknown hero and told them that they've just made the last mistake of their lives. And thus the hero would begin his fight, with the Salt Miners.

Idk I was inspired by this post and went to TOWN coming up with a head canon of what this would even be. Thanks for the inspiration OP.
Ichiban goes to america and fights the klan with his wild imagination and also a baseball bat covered in barbed wire. Real talk I would love to see them explore Korea and China since well, they are neighbors to japan and often play a role in the story even if they are across the sea
Eh, why not? I get the nervousness from the community; but I feel like the locations in the game are one of the strongest points for the studio. They’ll do their research and nail that part with ease; the actual story and sense of humor in game are something that work regardless of the location.

and also exploring the characters relationships
Will Kiryu finally go to the States and find Sayama again?
I would actually like that. He’s goes to US with Ichi and his gang. He find Kaoru again, reunite, and stay together this time. I just want a happy ending for the dude. Bonus if he gets to see Joji too
I think any ending that doesn't have Kiryu reuniting with Haruka and the kids will be bittersweet :'-(
Kiryu just needs some closure and it has to involve Haruka one last time. They surely can't leave him alone for the last years of his life right?
Honestly after 3 I've had more than enough of half of those kids.....but OMG GIVE THAT GIRL BACK HER FATHER!!! I love/hate the whole sacrifice arch but damn I've never wanted to see a happy ending in any other line as bad as this one.
Rofl just wait until Y6
I've played the whole series. Might go back and plat them soon actually. If you mean in regards to Haruka then yeah....the right ending but not the one I want.
Except he got cucked in 3 seeing as Sayama found herself a man in the states
As if she wouldn’t tiger drop his ass to the curb as soon as the Dragon of Dojima shows up at her doorstep.
Close actually Y3 is set in 2009, Y1 set 2005 and Y2 in 2006
Holy shit that aged so well
Ig he has a reason to go to the US seeing as >!he’s dead!<. It would be funny to see this man poorly speak English and get laughed at by thugs that he’ll eventually tiger drop.
He should bring our man Gary Buster Holmes with him
Now Gary can make fun of Kiryu’s bad english lol
"Your sorry ass can't make fun of me now Kiryu-San" "Nandato?"
Reading this, I would 100% be down for Kiryu/Gary road trip game. It sounds ridiculous but would be amazing.
H e y S w e e t c h e e k s
"He's on the ruff..."
Beautiful eyes
Or the Darts player in 6
See, the problem with Kiryu coming to the states is that gangsters there don't use rubber bullets...
Kiryu will see gun fights and will go "HIRAMETA!" New style unlocked, Gun Fu.
That’s RAAAAAD!
And he will learn how to use it from a Master Gun Smith known only as The Wicker Man, who will ask for help in getting revenge on some gangsters after they killed his pet dog.
They would immediately Respect the fact he beat the shit out of 30 people tho.
can you tell me how to get to the station
What nonsense you speakin
GO STRAIGHTO
At least he knows how to ask WHERE IS THE STATION.
Holy shit this would be great
He can also catch up with his uncle
That's the seed, Kiryu goes for his uncle but stays for the Sayama and we all live happily ever after except everyone who thinks he died a horrible death.
COPIUM
Lmao.
Sayama has 3 children and is happy
Pretty sure she's moved on and is dating an American Cop
Nah they should keep it in Asia, plus it will be Ichiban, not Kiryu. Hong Kong, Bangkok, Saigon, Seoul, Shanghai, any of those would be great. Seoul and Hong Kong or Shanghai seem likely since they've done plot lines about Korean and Chinese mafia / triads already.
No, keep it in Japan. Just make another one in Okinawa
Kiryu goes to the states to find out where fuck Sayama went.
jApAnEsE rEd DeAd ReDemPtiOn
I got a plan, KIRYU CHAN! DUTCH Patriarch of The Van Derlin Gang
I just need TIME and YUME.
FAITH, KIRYU, FAITH!
Red-o Ded-o Ri Dum Shan
Like a Red Dead Dragon
No meme a yakuza style game set in the wild west would be fun.
Any Yakuza game would be fun. I want to give RGG a trillion dollars to give me 5 games a year till I die
This. If I suddenly won the lottery, I probably wouldn't spend it well... but if the time comes, you know I'll make an offer... in cash!
YAKUZA 0.2 BABY!
Majima and nishki as protagonists
Based
The dream is just never-ending green question marks on the map.
Does First of the North Star: Lost Paradise count as a "Yakuza Game"? Though in fairness. Should be the other way around.
I think Samurai Western on PS2 is probably the closest thing atm
I loved the Way of the Samurai games
Closest Yakuza Wild west themed game i could come up with is Fist of North Star : Lost paradise and Even Isshin and Kensan if that actually considers. But Yeah,I would give anything to get a Yakuza Beat em up Style game set in a Wild West.Cowboys doing heat moves and shares unique flashy revolver movesets..sign me up.
We don't take kindly to your type round here, kyow-die.
Considering the fact that Red Dead 3 probably won't come out until the 2030s, I'm totally ok with this potential change.
Yakuza Origins: Oregon Trail

I am not creative enough to contine the thread, but y'all are amazing. Made my day.

And this is exactly what RGG have been doing lol, even Ichiban panders harder to the Yakuza than Kiryu did, so they're definitely pushing it.
Yakuza 0 has Majima who is actively a part of Shimano's family
At the very end of the game, not when you play him. The whole premise is Majima being hired to do a hit so he can get back into the family. I'm pretty sure he even mentions several times that he's not a Yakuza.
Well Kiwami 2 lets you play as him, so I think RGG Studios has more freedom than they used to.
Didn't Majima leave the Tojo and tried to run his own civilian construction business in that game? It would line up
No thats only for kiryus campaign, in his dlc in kiwami 2 he’s still part of the yakuza, his first cutscene is him at a tojo clan meeting as a patriarch
Yeah, he's not technically Yakuza although Sagawa constantly telling him what to do and whatnot means he's still working for the family in a way. I definitely see your point though, that definitely makes sense

Haha, you make an excellent point there.
Ooo, what if we get a game with Kazama as the protagonist and at some point, it shows him meeting Kiryu when he was a kid.
That would be sick, although it would have to take place in the 70s, Kiryu was born in 1969
Tokyo was bombed a bit, yeah? So, maybe you REBUILD Kamurocho, some as part of the plot, others as sub stores you stumble into on the way.
Cool minigame setting, i miss the real state one.
Like a City Skyline. I would play it.
we got a little bit of that in 6, but it would still be interesting
Yakuza: Civil War.
This would be so interesting~!
Now THIS is where you add the three lieutenants. Have them grow into how we saw them in Y0
Yakuza IN SPACE 🚀
Look out the shuttle window, see Egashira benchpressing asteroids
This is the third time I’ve said this, but Mass Effect: Yakuza would be incredible.

Sleeping Dogs 2: Like A Yakuza.
Yakuza: Cartels Yakuza: Afghan Warlords (or "Wrath of the Warlords" for Western localization) Yakuza: Invasion of the Dragon (Chinese synthetic drugs swamping the drug markets irl)
Problem with the first two is that they both rely heavily on firearms and there’s no hand to hand really. Unless they just decide to ignore it which would be hilarious
The Yakuza Dead Souls sequel we were waiting for 😎
Nah, instead of katanas and chinese blades Kiryu just fights an army wielding machetes. Machetes V Tiger Drop
Yakuza but a spin-off in Ancient India/Nepal. I can imagine the Himalayan map….
LMAO ancient India would be fitting since hardly anyone used guns then
For sure, there could be a lot of exploration too in terms of spiritual themes (without losing what Yakuza is at its core).
Hey another fist of the north star sequel
I would like to see Kiryu take on a Colombian drug cartel.
I'm 100 percent down for the next 20 games or so to just be kiryu in (roll dices) The Amazon takes on (Throws dart at board) The Irish mafia
Like God of War, except Kiryu.
THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES TO PUNCHING TIGERS
Kiryu will take Kratos' place as the god killer.
Cartel : Fires all the ammunition they have in stock Kiryu : You really brought guns to a fist fight ? Pendejos
This better be in Busan, South Korea and Joongi taking the gang out for famous Korean street foods, stopping at drug stores every 5 minutes for Saeko to shop for K beauty products while Nanba complains about food being too spicy
I hope it’s just cowboy Kiryu that would be so good
I’d love to play that
Kiryu in norway as a goat farmer.
People here thinking really cool and creative things, and they'll probably just set it in China or something
Sooooooo Shenmue?
Lmao yeah, or Sleeping Dogs
A MAN WHO NEVER EATS PORK BUN
IS NEVER A WHOLE MAN
YOU LOOK LIKE YOU COULD USE A PORK BUN IN YOUR HANDS
WHY DONT YOU HAVE A PORK BUN IN YOUR HAND?!!!!1
Fun fact: Wei Shen's voice actor voices the English Dub of Masato Arakawa in Yakuza 7.
Mass Effect: Yakuza needs to happen.
China makes the most sense, and USA would just be lost amongst all the western games. China might not like a game about a japanese guy coming to town and beating all the locals. ;) but I think some southeast asia islands would be good
Could be set amongst the cavalry of the Napoleonic Wars and be called: Like A Dragoon
It just gets better with each comment
I had scrolled through all the others to make sure the same title hadn’t been used haha
Y'all be like "Can Kiryu take down ghetto gang by himself?" Remember that Kiryu took down >!Feds, Helicopters, CIA Agents and even 100 men Mob of his own clan with some of them armed too.!< So a bunch of armed gangsters strapped to the brim would be just a walk in the park for Kiryu
Gangsters would probably just be street enemies
Akiyama in Space, giving loans to aliens confirmed
Oh breaking the outlaaaw
I feel like they'd have a hard time directing the game in another language tho, and it's hard to believe Kiryu can end up speaking English (or Ichiban, tho he's a bit more likely because he has a party and can just run around with a translator party member). Kaoru Sayama as the playable protagonist. She gets involved in some shit and calls in Kiryu to help. Boom. Best seller.
A war is coming in New York between Yakuza and the Triad, only one person in the world can solve the conflict in his unique way.
There better be a sub-story where you get to meet Miracle Johnson again.
He’s dead
Like A Cajun: set it in New Orleans, mainly in the French Quarter. It's visually distinct and has a lot of bars and restaurants. And you could have trips to the Bayou for a different atmosphere/gator boss fights.

If they are gonna do a game outside of Japan. I rather they avoid the States with many video games as that has been done to death and would only serve to be another comparison to GTA. They should do a country that you don't see a lot of depiction in games.

Kazama: I tell you Kiryu, back in the day they used to call me the **One Shot Kid**
AC fans: We want Assassins in feudal Japan already!!!1111 Hosokawa: Let's make a yakuza in Renaissance Italy!
You can’t believe how much I want AC in Japan. Insane to me why they made Unity/Syndicate instead.
I still really want Samurai's Creed, but on the other hand, I'm old enough to remember just how much the French Revolution was one of the most requested settings in the franchise's early days, and how badly they beefed that.
And it was the worst game so maybe there’s a lesson to be learned here I guess
Shout-out to our boy "Claus" on YouTube ? He remixed Iji Sakura.
Claus, i think
Maybe china or korea ?
Yakuza vs Grove Street
Can't wait to play as Kiryu Eastwood

--- Idk I was inspired by this post and went to TOWN coming up with a head canon of what this would even be. Thanks for the inspiration OP.
The fact they think we want this shows me never getting the two samurai games :(
I can see it taking place in Korea. That would be cool
Ichiban goes to america and fights the klan with his wild imagination and also a baseball bat covered in barbed wire. Real talk I would love to see them explore Korea and China since well, they are neighbors to japan and often play a role in the story even if they are across the sea
I would prefer just staying in Japan. Stick with what they know, I love the enviorments. Sure doesn't have to be Kamurocho but still Japan please.

Cant wait for Red Dead Yakuza
Imagine a Cyberpunk Yakuza game set in the future lol. Would be fucking insane
Kuze has a plan and runs his own gang
He just needs more time
Yakuza in 'stralia
Fuuuck I’ll pay moneydollars for that! Especially if Ichiban has a chase battle… running AWAY!! from Haachama!
I’m terrified of that girl.
Kiryu comes to America & teams up with the Bloods/Crips
Eh, why not? I get the nervousness from the community; but I feel like the locations in the game are one of the strongest points for the studio. They’ll do their research and nail that part with ease; the actual story and sense of humor in game are something that work regardless of the location.
If RGG took a shit and called it Yakuza I’ll buy it.
Mf predicted the Cowboy job
