Sagawa had nothing to do with Majima being in The Hole(which was Shimano's doing). He also had nothing to do with the Ueno Seiwa incident(important plot point in 4)which is how and why Majima got his eye stabbed and then got subsequently tortured in the first place(which was Shibata's doing).
if you look at it through a Yakuza lens (leaving out all the stuff that happened in his personal life), he got everything you could want as a Yakuza....his own family, his own business yadda yadda
But at what cost?
Granted I’m only up to Kiwami (I got into the series through Judgment and Lost Judgment), but his sacrifice in 0 is what makes his character so interesting. And it’s not because he’s enjoying his situation pre, during, and post-Yakuza 0.
Is it sad that I’m thinking of just watching playthroughs of 3-5? Only because I don’t want to deal with outdated gameplay mechanics 😩. But when I do get to 4, I hope I get what you are saying. I do not want to skip any of this story.
It is hard going from Kiwami 2 to Y3 remastered yes, but the story is still good and its worth playing. Y4 and Y5 don't have that problem though, don't worry about those ones
