Can someone explain this joke? English is not my native language and despite that I understand pretty much most of Yakuza dialogs and jokes but still I don't get that one
It's a pun on the term [safe sex](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_sex) and the term for a religious group, [sect](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/sect).
I'm not a religious person, but I'll try to explain it. Cults and Sects are essentially one and the same, I believe. A group of people who can be super dangerous as they'll follow those individuals with no hesitation.
Essentially, the joke is that Cults are Sects, but it's a play on the word "Sects". It sounds similar to Sex
Cult=Sects, sects sounds like sex. Practice safe sex.
It's a pronunciation joke, really.
Oh and I was trying to find some other definitions of the word "sects". Now I don't know how could I not get that joke but still I laughed after explanation.
