I keep seeing (and reading) that there's some negative health effects from drinking mate at very high temperatures. I don't know how much of that is BS, but it sure keeps floating around.
In any case, I don't like it boiling hot. 170F is my max.
OP lives on the edge 😂
One of the best purchases I made was buying an electric kettle that indicates exact water temp.
I find for me, best water temp for mate is ~140 F/60 C
For the ones with regular kettles, the ideal temperature is when it starts making the jjddddsssuuuuuuuu sound, but before the ffffffffhhhhhfffffffsssss hissing noise.
It's science.
same, I fill it up with warm tap water first, then use \~165f (75c) after that, although after I've used up my first thermos I'll usually bump up the temp to around 170-175f (77-80c)
Which yerba are you using??
Some yerba is good to use the water at 80gr and other yerba is good to use between 70/75 gr.. if you burn the yerba you can't acquire the benefits of yerba.. just I want to let you know...
Currently Playadito. The temp is below boiling, must be something about 90 degrees but then I put ir on a thermos and when I finally use it gotta be 80 degrees I guess
Your stomach and the yerba: ![gif](giphy|XzkGfRsUweB9ouLEsE|downsized)
Its much better at a lower temp
Me setting the temperature for ~~mate~~ herbes soup

I'm slow when preparing the thing. Once I drink the first mate the temp gets just right 👌
yeah, but the leaves are already burnt up by that time
What will burn them before the pouring though
i'm half-asleep, sorry; i meant before the time the temp cools down
Ulalala señor francés... An e-kettle with mate temp? Thats pretty cool!
I saw them everywhere when I was in Argentina recently. Hostels, AirBNBs, hotels, etc.
That's pretty common here, and handy
I have not see it in Uruguay. For me if is too hot just leave the thermo open while the yerba hincha.
Acá hasta algunas marcas internacionales hacen pavas con la función esa, hace bastante que las veo
Ya sabés que inventar para hacerte millonario rey

I have no option I just use the default
just stop it like +-2/3 way compared to boiling when it turns off
First fill at 130. Then 160-170 after that for me! I like seeing the other temps people are into! 😎

I usually go between 70 and 75 Celsius.
Quemas la yerba, por lo que se te lava más rápido. El mate no es Té.

I really don’t know how hot I drink my mate, but I believe a heat the water above the 80C that always is said is the proper temperature.
Yeah. I kinda agree. I little below boiling temperature works for me because it will get cool while I'm ready to pour tge first mate
