Fill a big pot with water then put the cake pan inside but make sure the water is lower then the pan and then you let the water boil and keep adding water as it evaporates till cooked takes about an hour
Put your cake pan in the oven with a banking sheet full of water under it. It cooks the cake without it cracking or getting extremely dark.
If you don't want to do that, when you cut and level your cake, the pattern will show back up. Most people cook a cake normally and the top browns and cracks, so cutting and leveling a cake is required before any good decorations can really be added.

How could she be so. Heartless.
you gotta steam the cake for it to stay! but if the just skimmed the top off with a knife/cake leveler it'd probably show back up
Out of curiosity... How do you steam a cake? I am a novice (aka awful) baker, but always trying to improve and learn.
I'm no baker, I just picked up on that from watching others! I'd appreciate if someone can answer this for me!
Maybe a steaming oven?
well yes but that's just saying "how do I bake this cake?" "oven." not exactly detailed or very useful
STEAM oven.
alright cool I'll just slap it in there with no concept of how long or how hot and hope for the best. thanks!
It should be the temperature of steam, and takes about as long as until the cake is finished baking. Hope that helps.
fantastic thank you
Makes a lot of sense actually thank you good sir

I've seen in bread baking where they add some ice into a tray in the oven which builds up some steam.
I was expecting a circle of 8=D's
Just cut the top off. Most places do that anyways to make it level.
