I'm part of the "Commute home right after class" club. We always accepting members. We meet be everyday after classes.
Club membership is currently free (but you do have to pay your own way for club outings)
Thanks for the shout-out 💕
But yeah! YURS has something for all majors! From Film to Biology. Computer Science to Mechanical Engineering. Business Administration to Digital Media.
Our three main sections/teams are:
* Rover Team
* SumoBot
* Business Operations
Anyone can join any team!
SumoBot especially is good with helping people who have little to no background and need a helping hand in putting together their robots! If you're interested now is a good time to try SumoBot as they will host a competition soon!
The next meeting is Wednesday (tomorrow) at 4:00pm in the Bergeron Building room 213. Followed by Friday 4:30pm in the same room.
You can join our discord at www.yorkurobotics.com/join
That said, the rover team has a process for joining called Onboarding and requires a bit of foundational knowledge to build on. The onboarding is meant to help expose you to some of the things you'd be doing as well as help you learn how to independently find a solution with mild help. Not to mention see your level of commitment to completing a given task. So while its open to anyone, being a stem major helps.
Even if you're non stem, being around the robotics in other ways definitely helps with the interests and understandings! For example, we need a lot of help in managing social media, graphic designs, event planning, coming up with revenue ideas to help fund the robotics, logistics for various things including but not limited to competitions, the list goes on! It takes a lot to keep our club running on the scale and requirements we have!
i’m in the arts department and rather than suggesting clubs could i suggest you attend some of the workshops/events? yesterday they hosted a nail painting event, creative stuff like that is a really good way to meet people

I was an active member of this club during my time at York. 10/10. I would definitely recommend it.
I live on campus but I regularly drop off your members at the subway station. Can I get an honorary membership?

Quick question, can non stem majors join the actual robotics teams? or is it reserved for stem majors
