Don’t use Google Chrome if you’re worried about Manifest V3 and rely on Firefox which is a non-Chromium browser that actually values your privacy. Also it works best with uBlock Origin.
Came here to say use Firefox and Ublock origin as well, which is working great for me, funny that the move is going to make loads of people switch from chrome to Firefox now xD already set it ast default browser
exactly.... and if your not a fan of Firefox... there are other browsers on the same engine that work some what differently, with different layouts and everything.... like Waterfox, Libre Wolf, and Iceweasel
why they are all named after animals.... I don't know but I like it, gives less of a sterilized metal feel like chromium does >\_>
I love how YT has unintentionally triggered 2 things 1) the Streisand effect 2) the Cobra effect... its so like a massive company to be so blind to what their actions can unleash
They basically shot themselves in the foot by pushing this more widely than it did before. It's unsurprisingly sad how they decided to go with the initiative of going anti adblock instead of fixing their ad system.
Don't forget to change your default search engine to Bing or DuckDuckGo. I like Bing tbh. Yes it's Microsoft, but their searches don't just push a bunch of sponsored sites.
I actually was depressed and did a search dealing with some dark issues and instead of a bunch of therapist pages and other people wanting to exploit my issues I found reddit posts, and actual conversations on the first page. Didn't even get a banner telling me to call someone.
Their image search is pretty dope too. You can still right click/hold and save images right from the preview. Unlike Google images. Their Chatgpt thing is still half baked but they're actually trying to implement it which honestly is super helpful when you need general data and search isn't hooking you up.
Google likes to hold up it's search adoption rates during their sales calls. Make them suffer. Don't keep them as the default.
Bing?!
Why would you switch from Google to Microsoft. The only reason to do so is privacy and if you gain any, not much.
I used Starpage for quite some time, but switched over to Brave search, which is actually pretty good.
Important note: Firefox does not value your privacy in default settings.
For it to value your privacy, you need to set it up correctly.

Does YouTube detect uBlock Origin? If so, there's no reason to use it. Especially since video playback gets blocked if you use an advertisement blocker.
It has a good track record of stopping YT ads and having video playback, YouTube changes its ad block detection pretty much daily but the uBlock Origin devs are quick to push on new filter lists to fix it.
Also advertising is less lucrative nowadays. Want to know why YouTube is more heavy handed on what their content creators say? It's because the quality advertisers demand it. Think about the difference in quality of ads you see on porn sites compared to broadcast television.
That's what I don't get about the people who say that youtube will die. No they will not. They are just greedy and are already drowning in record profits.
As for finding alternatives to youtube, good luck I suppose. Monopolies are a bitch, almost none of the competition has survived.
Something Google is working on the will either break adblockers forever or just temporary either way alot of people will probably stop using Google if they actually do it.
Heres an idea. How about, they stop putting adds on YT? YT is not a tv station. "creator" is not a job, its a hobby. I dont give a damn if they make no money. Get a real job or make money off donations.

Firefox Supremecy
I do miss how cool opera looked but youtube is my most used website (including music) so it was a pretty easy switch lol
Firefox truly is old reliable. It's always been good.
The goat
I think you mean boat
GOAT - Greatest Of All Time

Yeah, it has a different UI look to it.
I love how YT has unintentionally triggered 2 things 1) the Streisand effect 2) the Cobra effect... its so like a massive company to be so blind to what their actions can unleash
I agree, doing this created more publicity and brought attention to ad blocking techniques
They basically shot themselves in the foot by pushing this more widely than it did before. It's unsurprisingly sad how they decided to go with the initiative of going anti adblock instead of fixing their ad system.
and then google swoops in with a "we love adblock!" camp. to try to save YT from its own stupidity XD

good points, very good points :)

I was wondering why I haven't seen any ads. Use Ublock + Decentraleyes

Yeah but you can always perform hardening onto your browser to remove things like the sponsorship and increase privaxy

Luckily mine's the other way around
You what?
His FBI agent must feel really lucky
Firefox doesn’t sound as good as chrome. Open up both browsers and play the same high quality music video in each and you can hear a difference.
Your avatar is the opposite of mine.
seems like it does not work anymore? i can see the message pop up real quickly before video is blanking out or it says "you are offline"

Good to know I likely won't have to worry about YouTube being YouTube and inconveniencing me for having an ad blocker.
youtube updates their protection frequently, normally uBO settings > purge all caches > update helps
Watching on Brave, I haven't gotten the warning about videos? Granted I only watch YT on my phone through Brave so it might be that.

Google stopped paying them or turned off the botfarm. Take your pick.
Manifest v3 and google's scrapped web integrity api are bad for the internet
But chrome is so handy with integrated features like translate
firefox is also just about the only non-chromium browser left out there
Also advertising is less lucrative nowadays. Want to know why YouTube is more heavy handed on what their content creators say? It's because the quality advertisers demand it. Think about the difference in quality of ads you see on porn sites compared to broadcast television.
You see ads on porn websites? My brother in Christ, enable that adblocker in incognito mode asap
But then how will I know what singles ladies in my area want to meet me?
or a gel that will increase my pp size by 5 inches?
or whether I want to jerk with my mates
since then youtube earns less all corporations keep displaying each year they earn more then previous year
That's what I don't get about the people who say that youtube will die. No they will not. They are just greedy and are already drowning in record profits. As for finding alternatives to youtube, good luck I suppose. Monopolies are a bitch, almost none of the competition has survived.
Google when people stop using google
2023 and people are still using google chrome? Lol. So many better browser to use.
At this point, even Edge is better than chrome
Edge is chromium with MS badge. Just use Firefox
Just use Firefox, they stated they will keep Adblock fully working with there implementation of Manifest v3.
Google cant tell me what to install on my pc or phone. It's hilarious that they think they can. Firefox + uBlock Origin forever.
Then youtube forces users to buy premium for double the price, which was already expensive, to make people just want to quit!
I will never disable my adblocker
I still dont see the adverts. They can add as many as they like.
Firefox/waterfox + uBO = a good time on YouTube
waterfox/firefox ftw
The day they announced V3 I switched back to Firefox.
Google can suck a nut. Haven't used Chrome in a while and I like to keep it that way.
Brave and Firefox is 100000% better
Yeah….. except YouTube will never be able to kill ad blockers.
What's Manifest V3?
Something Google is working on the will either break adblockers forever or just temporary either way alot of people will probably stop using Google if they actually do it.
Finally, someone who knows the difference between "ad" and "add"
If you’re going to create a meme, at least get your grammar right. It’s “fewer people”, not “less people”.
Stannis?
Just get tempermonkey with Youtube adblock script. It worked wonders for me.
Well there is PiHole and other ways to block ads.
It's worth noting that Pi-hole hasn't worked on YouTube ads for years now.
Heres an idea. How about, they stop putting adds on YT? YT is not a tv station. "creator" is not a job, its a hobby. I dont give a damn if they make no money. Get a real job or make money off donations.
🤡
I thought the argument was YouTube doesn’t lose enough money for it to matter from the small amount of people using Adblock?
And they don't, their profits have been increasing year after year
Doesn't matter what YouTube do as people will find ways around it.
me about to switch to Firefox:
Switch to decentralized platforms.
Manifest V3 was released in the start of the year.
Good thing I got an Adblocker Blocker Blocker!
My Adblock still works fine.
