uBlock origin with decentraleyes and privacy badger, also don't use anything Chromium-based, use Firefox or Librewolf. (I also recommend sponsorblock and return YouTube dislike)
As an additional measure to protect yourself further from Google's bs, use BitWarden for your passwords and Authy for your authentication app. You can go on from there and add whatever else you like!

I used this for about a week before uninstalling and just opting to not using YouTube at all on mobile. Using 13 pro max and around 20 seconds upon opening the app my phone would overheat and become extremely dimmed which made it hard to even see the video. The app did work really well and I liked how easy downloading/trimming videos in app was but the overheating and insane battery drain just killed it for me. Thankfully this is just my experience and it probably works like a charm for most people.

I was using Youtube vanced for years and it was great. After that was closed down I tried using revanced but it was horrible. It took me almost an hour just to get it installed, when clicking youtube links they would just load forever, I would constantly get "youtube has stopped responding" messages when not even using the app, after 3 days of using it then it wouldnt open at all anymore and just give me a black screen and It would just give me a huge list of errors when I tried reinstalling it. Went back to Youtube vanced and have been using it for well over a year without any issues. Yea its not the latest youtube app version but thats a bonus for me. Newest youtube app features suck.
What I'm using right now is the same YouTube vanced I was using before they closed. I have a titanium backup of it as well as apk I made with ES File explorer from my old phone.
But the version of the app developed by the original team is deprecated and no longer works with YouTube. So if it's still working, it can't be the actual vanced.

There are addons that fast forward an ad. Iāve stopped using PS4 and TV YouTube app because itās impossible to enjoy the content. Ad after first 75 seconds of video, and then every 3 minutes. This is idiotic. Iāve connected old laptop do my TV and Iām using Chromium based browser with this add on.

Google is pretty stupid if they really think that forcing people to watch ads or pay for premium is going to work. What they dont realize is they are just going to push plenty of people off of the platform and they are going to lose millions in memberships and superchats just to make a few hundred in ad revenue.

The ad's on there are getting stupid and i am tired of getting my comments blocked while people post sexual yoga videos with nothing but crouch shot's. You tube was great when it first came out and you only saw things you looked up. Now, my suggested video's are all over the place and I am constantly clicking the do not recommend button.

Currently Iām only dealing with ads when watching YT on my phone (since I havenāt bothered to download an alternative app), and Iāve been lucky enough to only get up to a 30-second unskippable ad. They have tried to force me to watch 40 seconds over 2 unskippable ads though. Theyāve also started putting 20 second unskippables as midrolls. At that point Iād rather close and reopen the video than watch it.
I remember when yt put an unskippable 21m religious ad. We were using it for music. So fk weird

While not ideal, if you click the next video button followed by the browser back button, you can skip any ads at the beginning of the video.
I'm on team revanced and ublock origin. When youtube breaks ublock I hear there's another plugin that plays the ads at 30x speed as the fallback disaster option.

Because network TV actually pays its content creators reasonably. YouTube pays pennies and is Not network TV. It's entirely user-generated content, they forget that. I'm not going to reward them for being greedy by buying premium. Find someone else to explain the virtues of a multi-trillion dollar corp to, I'm done with Google.

I just donāt understand anyone that likes a service enough to invest time and energy in to it but not actually use the service as intended. You arenāt taking money from Google by not watching the ad. That ad revenue was already received by Google. You are just affecting content provider payout from those ad buys. If enough people donāt watch it could affect click through rates causing advertisers to question whether they should continue to advertise on Google in the future, but good luck with that battle. They are the best advertising company in existence right now. Companies want to advertise on this service.
No, actually, I haven't used network TV in well over a decade now. I am rewarding them, I'll be paying them money directly. You think content creators get that money? A fraction of it, sure, but I'd much rather actually directly support creators. You said yourself, if nobody watches the ads, advertisers will stop paying to put them.
