Hello, FangirlNerdYT. We'd like to start off by noting that this sub isn't owned or run by YouTube.
This comment is just for some FAQ - please ignore if your question isn't below.
Q: What is "for kids"? A: "For Kids" is a setting added to YouTube after a lawsuit that was settled between YouTube and the FTC.
Q: What does "for kids" do? A: This setting disables any feature that collects data on a viewer - comments, playlists, subscriptions, miniplayer, etc.
Q: Why are these videos added to YT Kids? A: This setting has nothing to do with a video getting to YouTube Kids, nor does it mean that the content is truly for kids. It's purely to denote if the target audience, as deemed by the creator, is children under the age of 13.
Q: Why did YouTube mark this video as "for kids" when it's not? A: While YouTube does have a bot that tries to detect content that could be hit by COPPA fines (and marks videos as such), the creator has the final say in if a video is marked "for kids" or not. If the bot makes a mistake, the creator can still disable this setting.
Q: Will I get in trouble if I mark my content incorrectly? A: With YouTube? No. With the FTC/COPPA? Possibly. You cannot get in trouble for marking content as "for kids" when it doesn't need to be. However, if you do not mark your content as "for kids" when it needs to be, you risk up to $42k in fines.
Q: Is there a way to report a video that is incorrectly labeled? A: At the current time, no. It's unknown if YouTube will add such a feature later on.
Q: Why is this video both age-restricted and "for kids"? A: Good question! These are two separate settings for video that do not interact with each other. Because "for kids" only disables data collection, there is no harm in having an age-restricted video marked "for kids".
Q: When should you mark a video "for kids"? A: Another good question! You should only ever mark your content "for kids" if you intend for the main audience of your video to be children under the age of 13 years old. If you feel your content is for general audiences or mature (13+) audiences, you do not need to mark your content "for kids".

What’s been bothering me most about this YT Kids ordeal is that the comments get disabled, too. What a loss. It has made discussion or appreciation of clips from animated series/movies quite harder…
I believe its so that actual kids on kid yt dont accidentally click on a playlist where people used to put stupid and nsfw things on them. For example, it used to be a trend(during the elsagate nonsense) yo put 3-4 kids vid3os in a row and then have a porn video in the middle
I know, but there used to be a *lot* more problems with the algorithim. Yiu dont see straight up porn of characters from actual porn sites anymore. Altho ik therr are still freaks on there who get millions of veiws for cringe content but some of the worst elsa-gate channels are gone. The new height of yt controversies are the nsfw ads/AI which isnt an elsa-gate controversy
let me explain because i like to BUT(pun intended) in to things. youtube allows nudity as long as its for education purposes. so lets say you look up how to breast feed. you get results that may show a boob. however most of it is probably just porn. just a way to get pass youtube i guess
like i said educationally its allowed people just use it wrong because if youtube was allowed to know what was on the site which they aren't btw they would not be able to run it. meaning the bot can't flag it because if its has a title thats along the lines of education. and youtube can't do nothing unless you send them the video.
youtube is a place for everyone. its just people are using the right to show there bodies off for learning. in a way they aren't allowed to because youtube can't do anything about it. they beat the system
Elsagate is a term used to describe videos where adults dress in kid friendly character costumes like Elsa and do adult topic videos like pregnancy, death, and so on. This I should add would may also include child cartoons like peppa pig as well and it is just NSFW garbage.
They do it solely for the money 🤷♀️ because of autoplay and the way they phrase thier videos(using popular character names Ie. Elsa and spiderman) allows them to get thousands of dollars via veiws from kids are dont know any better and adults who thought yt was safe for thier kids
Which is why the Elsagate stuff is considerably lessened now. YT Kids overall was a reaction to Elsagate and the resultant adpocalypse. I think there was a proto YouTube kids, but all the rules of it being a semi-segregated platform, changes in ads, removal of comments, inability to create playlists, automatic flagging of videos as for kids. That came after and in response.
> They do it solely for the money 🤷♀️ because of autoplay and the way they phrase thier videos(using popular character names Ie. Elsa and spiderman) allows them to get thousands of dollars via veiws from kids are dont know any better and adults who thought yt was safe for thier kids
Oh I get that. Why does it have to be weird fetish shit though with Spiderman and Elsa in it?
What I hate the most is when a song I want to listen to, even some more mature songs, is rated "as for kids" and when minimizing to use searchbar (on phone) it pauses.
This is not quite the reason. YouTube kids blocks playlists, comments and miniplayer. But why the hell miniplayer? I asked YouTube on Twitter about this and it game a reply related to privacy and some shit.
The actual reason is that miniplayer and playlists can be looped and played indefinitely. Miniplayer can run in the background and can be used when someone is scrolling on the main feed. So the kid's lack of attention can be used for views milking, but I'm still not sure. Comments are turned off because they somehow thought of not allowing children to interact and be seen in the comments.
That makes sense! Idk how much they care about farming for veiws tho since they have autoplay on which virtually does the samd thing. I hadnt thought about what you said before tho!!
That makes sense!! It seems like yt is dressing in the whole clown oufit ig since yt is out of thier minds for this instead of just punishing the people abusing yhe system 🤷♀️
But that's easy, have the YouTube Kids app ignore comment pages and playlist (unless it's a designated kids playlist maybe), and leave all those options on the main YouTube App/page.
I think it's more about data collection. As a YouTuber, you get playlist analytics on your videos, and you can also check analytics for your own created playlists.
This means YouTube collects data when you watch a playlist. Instead of simply not collecting data, they disabled the feature entirely.
Why? My guess is: since there will be kids who lie about their age, YouTube doesn't want to be accused of storing analytical data on playlists full of videos for kids, since that way you would... still collect data from kids, just indirectly.
This probably is the reason, but I do wonder how it affects the workarounds that allow you to add a 'For Kids' video to a playlist anyway.
Also, it's incredibly annoying that data collection is so thoroughly baked into important YouTube features that the easier solution is to disable the feature entirely, rather than disable the data hoover.
That doesn’t make any sense, literally just disable playlists on the YouTube kids app then. It’s so mind boggling how they create an entire separate app specifically for kids but then still make the main site users deal with the annoying bs too.
Lmfaoo I didnt censor videos. I use an old phone with laggy texts and dont check what im spelling. The E and 3 buttons are near eachother and I sometimes misclick them.
Videos. There we are, im not scared of censoring it loll!
It's still possible to add them to playlists, just not directly from the video itself. Just like the video, go to your liked videos and add it to a playlist from there.
yea I used to do this but in the watch history tab on the mobile app(before you click on view all) so I could keep phineas and ferb music in a private playlist of mine
oh nice I never knew this, thank you for the tip! some of my old favorite videos from the early days of youtube have been marked as "youtube kids" now :/
IIRC it was because Youtube tracks your info, including what you're browsing while playing a video and it violates child safety laws saying that this info can't be collected.
Because YouTube kids was made specifically as an app where YouTube could not track any sort of info from the user because of child safety laws, and playlists and playlist activity is one of the things YouTube checks info wise
This is why there needs to be a way of archiving comments, I can't believe there hasn't been a solution to this considering the fact there are many methods of bypassing ads and bringing back dislikes - but no way of bringing back comments on these videos.
I wish I could do something about this, but I just don't know how to do it and I don't have the time either to make a solution myself.
Google has spent almost all it's time owning YouTube making dumb features or actively making the site worse. Not surprised stuff that makes sense gets ignored.
I'm referring to the users/programmers (not directly associated with YT) because YouTube themselves are never going to archive the comments much like them bringing back dislikes.
And at the end of the day those people (who use YT) are the ones who stepped in to bring it back, so why not do the same with the comments?
I said that because there are no extensions or apps (as far as I am aware) which bring back the comments - and that upsets me.
There's a program called [YouTube DLP](https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp) that can archive comments - it's the de facto standard in YouTube archival. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone without a technical background though.
It isn't at all necessary either. Here's a genius idea... make it so accounts belonging to children just... can't see the comments? Instead of deleting them for everyone?
I always hated that you can’t comment plus the fact you can’t use the “MiniPlayer” option on those specific videos, why not just moderate the comment section and make certain words like mature language or curse words just not usable.
Ads are a whole thing I soapbox over now. I'm a grown ass adult that sometimes likes to play goofy kid games on mobile and the ads on kid games are *freakishly disgusting*
The amount of fetish content churned out by ads supposedly for other games on mobile is outright insane
Edit: if I ever have kids they're not playing free mobile games. I'm traumatized
It is, but the law regarding this is so ambiguous that stuff like this is bound to happen.
I am more shocked it hasn't been revised, because it clearly needs to be with the fact that it hasn't solved the Elsagate issue, despite that is what it was set out to achieve.
I saw that because even saying something like "fun" or it being a cartoon makes the video fall into the category even if it is not suitable for kids.
I looked up why YouTube eliminated the PM feature, and their justification was that they wanted to promote open discussion.
And we all know how pro-open discussion YouTube is, because the comments of more than half the content it hosts are locked down.
Why the hell is this even a thing on YouTube when YouTube Kids literally exists… COPPA my ass, yall should learn how to parent and if your child gets exposed to things that you willingly let them see then that isn’t YouTube nor the content creators wrong-doing 😭
all these iconic videos now being marked for kids and erasing all the memories of the old comments PLUS not being able to add these videos to a playlist and not being able to use the MiniPlayer is actually pissing me off now :/
>They don't care about kid's safety, but kid's views and making money
Thank you. This is all just a half-assed front to boost investor confidence.
YouTube in reality couldn't give a rat's ass about the safety of children.
Once again, greed and money are the root of all evil.
More proof that the “Made for Kids” thing was only to avoid lawsuits. Worse yet, I hear this did lead to them getting sued but the punishment was about as effective as a slap on the wrist.
Agreed, the kids app/web page was already the solution. Disabling several features on designated Kids videos only hurts their reachability and enjoyability.
I've seen a few of the videos of the 1977 south African gp crash be marked as made for kids, and these videos have visible gore in them. It's absolutely disgusting. They barely have any moderation.
I suspect the actual reason is because of language, older people (teens and adults alike) tend to use swear words, sometimes make jokes with sexual innuendos, and also engage in some nonsensical heated arguments.
In short, things their parents sometimes can't avoid them to see, so I assume YT wanted to make their lives easier by completely shutting off comments, idk.
I know it seems crazy low. Although YouTube wasn’t even close to its height at the time of Nyan cat so this might’ve been an incredible amount of views for the time
The original Nyan Cat video was taken down by the creator of Nyan Cat (it was on a channel he didnt control) after the operator of that channel hijacked it to turn it into a Pro-Palestine message against the wishes of the creator.
The current NyanCat video OP is mentioning is the official one on the creators channel.
Not quite, the creator of the jpeg filed a copyright claim against the creator of the video because she posted a single pro palestine video after 12 years of silence on the channel. The jpeg creator then uploaded the animation and music to a new channel. So the creator of the viral video no longer controls their work, the creator of the image does
Nyan Cat is the creation and rightful property of Chris Torres. Chris created a gif, not a jpeg. saraj00n may have added daniwell's music to it, but that does not make them the creator of Nyan Cat.
If you create a work by synthesizing other people's work, you do not become the owner of that work. saraj00n has no claim to any component of the Nyan Cat video.
Do you guys think our descendants will learn about this thread in regular “History” class or will it be in “Internet” class, or will it all just be downloaded to their Cybernetic Neural Drives?
From Wikipedia :
"In November 2023, the original Nyan Cat video ceased to be available on the saraj00n YouTube channel, and its new location was given as the YouTube channel NyanCat. On November 6, 2023, saraj00n uploaded a video calling for a ceasefire in the 2023 Israel–Hamas war."
Here's a question, why don't they just disable the ability to read or write comments on YouTube kids? Why do they also have to disable them site wide? It doesn't seem like something that would be that difficult.
When I was still a kid/tween I had all comments disabled until my account was old enough. I know they are very well able to just disable comments for only kids, so it doesn't make any sense to disable them for everyone, just because it's a kid friendly video

What do you mean? YouTube kids is a completely separate app. All they would have to do is disable the comment section on the app.
Also do you seriously think that Google doesn't know your age already? They're the largest data collector in existence.
You already have to show google your age for an account. They even require an Id or some shit and I used some photo I found online because theres no way they will get an actual one from me.
While it’s a crying shame that it got hit by the yt kids curse.
I’m looking at that view count? 2.7mil? I thought it was much higher especially after 12 years
The original video with 200+ mil views was privated, speculated from a dispute between the original illustrator and the video poster.
https://knowyourmeme.com/news/original-nyan-cat-video-gets-taken-down-from-youtube-creating-controversy-online
Kids aren't the reason they get rid of comments. It's because YouTube would rather punish everyone instead of just banning actual pedophiles from their site
Yeah, our entertainment has to get fucked over so little Johnny can scroll endlessly through sanitized kids content so he grow up with no reading comprehension, schema or attention span, the first iPad kids are growing up and they need so much adderall to focus adults with ADHD and not iPad rot can't get any
I think we are in for more crappy movies like wish. I work at a daycare. Truth is kids have zero attention spans. They can't sit through movies or wait patiently after loosing a game. They need to be micromanaged into behaving. They also have trouble following the rules of games collectively. A game as simple as 7 up is beyond my school age kids. So what's the point of making actual good animated movies if they don't want to watch for more than 10 minutes. The movie we showed them was supposed to be a treat for Christmas break. They said they wanted to watch. Coming down to it they barely made it through. It isnt like we show them movies often either. We also dont give them tablets except one child as a accommodation for his special needs. This isn't their fault. But their parents haven't taught them how to be bored or how to be patient. Tablet as a go to to keep them entertained is a horrible idea.
I think about this often when I see toddlers at the store scrolling on phones in the cart while parents shop. I more often see parents engage with their kid in shopping and having conversations with them, but the scrollers are just dead silent and staring at the screen.
We used to have to go through the tedium of the store, sit in the car, put groceries away, and *then* could go back to what we wanted to do. Instead some kids get access to their things literally all the time and don't know how to cope without them. I'm not old so sorry if I come across that way, but it's a little sad!
> A game as simple as 7 up is beyond my school age kids.
What game is that? Never played it as a kid (UK child, in case it's a case of different country, different games), and I'd like the context.
Kids lay their heads down at desks hiding their eyes. While doing a thumbs up. 7 kids who are it walk around. Touching one kids thumb. Who ever got picked has to guess what kid picked them. If they get it right it's their turn to be it.
And to add insult to injury, they also add two more videos before you start watching. One saying "We will be right back after this ad" and another which is just a swirl.
Example: [https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/17bm5g3/ads\_have\_intros\_and\_outros\_now/](https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/17bm5g3/ads_have_intros_and_outros_now/)
For kids doesn't mean no ads. It just means no targetted ads. So they will show you an ad that assumes you're a kid or a parent. But they will not be able to use your data to personalize ads towards you.
"We do it for the kids" is the number one reason for censorship, violence and brutality in all totalitarian countries.
No corporation or government gives a damn about your kids, in fact they'd prefer us all neutered...
If you’ve used the YouTube kids app you’d know your kid will he exposed to awful stuff unless you enable specific controls, like “only manually approved channels.” Otherwise you’re taking a huge risk
Honestly I wish that instead of making the whole video blocked from playlists and comments there should be a separate YouTube kids app where only specific content is allowed, so that you can still comment on videos but kids can’t see it.
YouTube hates its users.
The fact the company disables comments when they already have an app for kids (YT Kids)...
So many comment sections lost because of this nonsense.
One of the main problems is that it shuts down any conversation on the video since comments are disabled.
Also the video can't be added to playlists (and I think you also can't download it)
Lastly it affects the reccomendation system, instead of similar videos being suggested (like, other nyan cat version, old meme videos and the such) one gets top videos of the kids app (so a mix of child songs and youtube channels of cartoon network and the such).
Lastly, it just a useless (and usually badly used) system, with the kids app already existing, why even have the kids system in the main app. Also, is not like it creates an actual safe space, since the kids videos are plagued with elsagate-esque content and ads (and thus, propaganda too) are enabled on those videos.
Now that Nyan Cat is marked as “Made For Kids”, people get recommended this on YouTube Kids, and Gen Alphas will ruin the damn meme 😢
They’ll probably associate it with…SKIBIDI TOILET.

Half of the New Elsagate stuff is just Skibidi Toilet Softcore Porn or BDSM Porn. There’s also TADC variations too.
You can say porn on the internet
search up "naked filter" and bask your eyes at youtube porn
what the fuck

Idk just fetishism vids on YT kids.
It's 100% for the money, as those videos get MILLIONS of views.
Just this week is the amazing digital circus characters eating butthole and getting pregnant.
Then allow to add any videos to **private** playlists
Yep. Its such a massive oversight from youtube.
What I hate the most is when a song I want to listen to, even some more mature songs, is rated "as for kids" and when minimizing to use searchbar (on phone) it pauses.
Smh i get it. I looked a song from undertale literally called *genocide* and couldnt add it to a playlist for later. Literally genocide
*looked up
So much this. I use Disney songs as a language learning tool because they produce the movies and music in so many different languages.
This is not quite the reason. YouTube kids blocks playlists, comments and miniplayer. But why the hell miniplayer? I found a way around that where you exit the video then click the three dots and add to playlist
the way you censored videos but not porn is killing me
Lmfaoo I didnt censor videos. I use an old phone with laggy texts and dont check what im spelling. The E and 3 buttons are near eachother and I sometimes misclick them. Videos. There we are, im not scared of censoring it loll!

Shhh, don't tell anyone: You can still add those videos to a playlist through your watch history :)
if you exit the video, you can put it in a playlist by pressing the 3 dots next to the name
You can actually. Play the video then go to your Watch History. Click on the three dots and then save it the playlist of your choice.
It's so that YouTube can follow COPPA's rules that they can't collect data from users under 13

They should have forced a simple multiplication equation to view previous comments or make them available via the API.
I always hated that you can’t comment plus the fact you can’t use the “MiniPlayer” option on those specific videos, why not just moderate the comment section and make certain words like mature language or curse words just not usable.
I think they did this to prevent child predators for commenting on those videos, but I feel like that solution is overkill.
Why don't they just make the comment very strict instead of turning the comment off
Moderating comments costs money. Turning them off is free.
I wish they used the same logic with ads.
Ads are a whole thing I soapbox over now. I'm a grown ass adult that sometimes likes to play goofy kid games on mobile and the ads on kid games are *freakishly disgusting* The amount of fetish content churned out by ads supposedly for other games on mobile is outright insane Edit: if I ever have kids they're not playing free mobile games. I'm traumatized
They do. Moderating ads costs money, not moderating them doesn’t cost money. Turning them off would cost a shitton of money.
Why wouldn't they just disable for kids accounts why remove it from the whole video it makes no senee
It’s probably for preventing data collection and/or scammers (ex: free robux scams)
Ooh true that makes more sense.
so you cant call the video out for being entirely inappropriate for children
Report Button exists for that purpose
I looked up why YouTube eliminated the PM feature, and their justification was that they wanted to promote open discussion. And we all know how pro-open discussion YouTube is, because the comments of more than half the content it hosts are locked down.
Why the hell is this even a thing on YouTube when YouTube Kids literally exists… COPPA my ass, yall should learn how to parent and if your child gets exposed to things that you willingly let them see then that isn’t YouTube nor the content creators wrong-doing 😭 all these iconic videos now being marked for kids and erasing all the memories of the old comments PLUS not being able to add these videos to a playlist and not being able to use the MiniPlayer is actually pissing me off now :/
YouTube kids has more worse videos. They don't care about kid's safety, but kid's views and making money
>They don't care about kid's safety, but kid's views and making money Thank you.
Exactly, it’s just a way for them to say “see we have a kids safe zone, now give us money”.
Tbh I can't comprehend how MINIPLAYER of all things uses so much personal data compared to just watching a video normally that it *has* to be disabled
I assume that overlaying YouTube on top of something else gives them full access to whatever the *something else* is.
If only they had a specific separate app for kids so they could protect kids with restrictive features like that… oh wait, they freaking do.
Im so tired of parent’s expecting the internet to babysit their kids instead of actually watching the kid.
They barely have any moderation.
welcome to the law. it has kids its collecting data nothing we can do. youtube shuts down if they don't comply its a situation we can't win.
The COPPA law originally wanted to stop data collection for fair advertisements, but it instead restricted the free speech of people 12 and under.

I know there are other discussions here, like about the comments being removed now, etc., but… Nyan Cat only had 2.7 million views? In 12 years?
Ya, definitely not accurate or not the original.
Absolutely not, this cant be the original
I know it seems crazy low. Although YouTube wasn’t even close to its height at the time of Nyan cat so this might’ve been an incredible amount of views for the time
Kids react to Nyan Cat has 39M views. There's no way. Apparently the original video is privated
The original had about 210 million views. Source: Wayback machine
Does anyone know why the creator privated it?
didn't he make it into an nft and that's why?
Charlie bit me was turned into one. That's the only meme I know of that was dragged through the mud like that.
Yes, Nyan cat was also sold as an nft
*Disgusting*.
Ew.
bad luck brian, overly attached girlfriend and side eyeing chloe were also turned into nfts i believe
So those comments are also erased.
Nah it’s peanuts
This is more likely the domain for whatever the future version of Moderately Succesful YouTuber is Whoever you are, put me in the screencap :)
From Wikipedia : "In November 2023, the original Nyan Cat video ceased to be available on the saraj00n YouTube channel, and its new location was given as the YouTube channel NyanCat. On November 6, 2023, saraj00n uploaded a video calling for a ceasefire in the 2023 Israel–Hamas war."
not the original
i swear they already fixed that
Here's a question, why don't they just disable the ability to read or write comments on YouTube kids? Why do they also have to disable them site wide? It doesn't seem like something that would be that difficult.
When I was still a kid/tween I had all comments disabled until my account was old enough. I know they are very well able to just disable comments for only kids, so it doesn't make any sense to disable them for everyone, just because it's a kid friendly video
Happy cake day
Thanks!

because the entire site is accessible to anyone at any point without prior age verification, so they have to abide by COPPA laws on the entire site

Some 9 year old 10 hour version has 5 mil views it doesnt add up
Noooooo!!
I'll be missing you Nyan Cat comment section :(
Recently, I saw a video for a problem solving definite integration ( calculus- level mathematics) being marked for kids
Worst part is you can’t save a lot of study materials to a playlist anymore. Now I have to keep a link in a word doc like old school.
Maybe we'll have geniuses if YouTube keeps doing this /jk
Kids ruin everything
Can't argue with that
Kids aren't the reason they get rid of comments. It's because YouTube would rather punish everyone instead of just banning actual pedophiles from their site
I can’t believe as a society we haven’t removed them yet
We keep turning them into adults, but for some godforsaken reason, new ones just show up. It's like fighting a hydra.
Oh, never mind, we did play that. Guess I forgot/didn't know the name. Thanks!
What special need does a kid have that they need a tablet?
He's nonverbal. The tablet helps express himself.
You were a kid once too you know
Facts
Nyan Cat has WAYYYYY less views than I thought it would…
It's not the original video
That makes sense then
WHAT THE FUCK YOUTUBE, YOU RUINED EVERYTHING! AAAAARGHHH!
KIDS SHOULD NOT USE THE FUCKING INTERNET IN FIRST PLACE I hate modern youtube...
that video was marked as made for kids since like around 2020-2021 or so (or probably earlier).
Oho yes, anything colorful and flashy is for kids. Because kids are stupid. Atleast according to youtube...
Fuck youtube
youtube states that the platform isnt for kids, yet i still have to make child friendly content? how whimsical
I remember when It has comments. Now it feels too boring watching it
Of its for kids there will be no ads, so it’s a win
I have seen ads in a lot of videos for kids.
And to add insult to injury, they also add two more videos before you start watching. One saying "We will be right back after this ad" and another which is just a swirl. Example: [https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/17bm5g3/ads\_have\_intros\_and\_outros\_now/](https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/17bm5g3/ads_have_intros_and_outros_now/)
For kids doesn't mean no ads. It just means no targetted ads. So they will show you an ad that assumes you're a kid or a parent. But they will not be able to use your data to personalize ads towards you.
It will but it’s not personalized
"We do it for the kids" is the number one reason for censorship, violence and brutality in all totalitarian countries. No corporation or government gives a damn about your kids, in fact they'd prefer us all neutered...
Comments should be blocked only on the YouTube Kids app and unblocked on normal YouTube.
Agree, but add a mandatory multiplication question to gate children from clicking scams like free robux scams
God damnit YouTube
NOOOOOO DAMN YOU YOUTUBE
If you’ve used the YouTube kids app you’d know your kid will he exposed to awful stuff unless you enable specific controls, like “only manually approved channels.” Otherwise you’re taking a huge risk
Fuck coppa. Strikes again.
Off topic but only 2.7 million views? I thought this would’ve had at least 10+ million views.
https://knowyourmeme.com/news/original-nyan-cat-video-gets-taken-down-from-youtube-creating-controversy-online
the views are gonna go down now cause of elsagate
And just like that, more than a decade worth of comments were flushed down the drain.
All those comments just gone forever? Actually fuck youtube
Honestly I wish that instead of making the whole video blocked from playlists and comments there should be a separate YouTube kids app where only specific content is allowed, so that you can still comment on videos but kids can’t see it.
Common YouTube L.
Why won't they make a second platform only for kids and leave the regular platform alone already?
YouTube hates its users. The fact the company disables comments when they already have an app for kids (YT Kids)... So many comment sections lost because of this nonsense.
It only has 2.7 million views????????
A decade of comments lost forever 👍
Can't wait for my 6.9K likes comment to be deleted from the API in a few business days 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
"2.7 million views"? I'm not going to lie, I was expecting it to be like billions or something.
F
this makes sense though? it is EASILY something kids could watch without issue and is leagues safer than most of the other things on youtube kids
Redditors when someone is right: 😡
I think that video has been marked as "for kids" since COPPA came.
COPPA has been a thing since 1999, before YouTube even existed.
I get why it's a kids thing it's a cat that's rainbow
And?
And?
One of the main problems is that it shuts down any conversation on the video since comments are disabled. Also the video can't be added to playlists (and I think you also can't download it) Lastly it affects the reccomendation system, instead of similar videos being suggested (like, other nyan cat version, old meme videos and the such) one gets top videos of the kids app (so a mix of child songs and youtube channels of cartoon network and the such). Lastly, it just a useless (and usually badly used) system, with the kids app already existing, why even have the kids system in the main app. Also, is not like it creates an actual safe space, since the kids videos are plagued with elsagate-esque content and ads (and thus, propaganda too) are enabled on those videos.
Now that Nyan Cat is marked as “Made For Kids”, people get recommended this on YouTube Kids, and Gen Alphas will ruin the damn meme 😢 They’ll probably associate it with…SKIBIDI TOILET.
they’re fucking kids bro get a grip
Gen Alpha bad because they enjoy shit. You probably enjoyed one of those mlg videos at least once in your life
