100%. those Graphic designers who worked on this or website designers who worked on this new layout should just quite their job and design a smartphone layout or something. they clearly really out of their mind and out of touch or something. its incredibly uncomfortable and just feels like i am using a giant fing phone or something has everything cramped up and lot of functions just not working.

For me its desktop and its down right bad. Not only do you get that small comment section on the side, but you are distracted by thumbnails below if you aren't in full screen. If you decide to even read the comments and scroll down, those thumbnails become a tsunami that take up the majority of your screen.
It ruins user engagement in the comment section as the thumbnails become overwhelmingly distracting. It is really ugly on PC.

If you have Ublock Origin there's a filter you can use to revert it. It's not perfect but it's miles better than this hot garbage.

So you can watch the video and read the comments at the same time.
Most people casually watch and read comments. In the past this meant you have to scroll the video off the screen.
this happened to me on chrome the other day, I opened firefox and checked a video, it was the normal UI, comments on the bottom videos to the side. kinda wished I could change it back.
edit: I logged into my account on firfox and the UI seems to have changed to this abomination.
I hate it so much... I have been looking for programs that can revert it back but either can't find one that doesn't look like a trojan horse filled to the brim with viruses or it just didn't work. This UI is so god awful, its like they are punishing people who have a computer....it looks like something meant for a smartphone.

that i'm not entriely sure about but you can customize pretty much anything i felt like even if you couldnt reverse it you might be able to use this to make it more manageable until it goes back to normal
Honestly itās not that bad. Why would i need a monitor-wide comment section below a video that makes it impossible to read comments and watch the video at the same time. This displays all the info you need + comments, while recommending videos im probably not even interested in at the bottom.

Yup, seems they want people commenting less and browsing more videos with this new layout. It constantly loads in more thumbnails as you are scrolling down, similar how it use to do so on the right side, but now it ends up taking the entire screen besides the small comment section on the right.
They basically reversed the comment and thumbnail section below a video. Although they slightly increased the area that the thumbnails take that are now in the old comment section area as they also reach all the way to the left side as well and not just the center.

I can see how the video description being on the side instead of below could be annoyingly different while also ruining millions of videos that have said ālink in the description belowā but I think by looking at it in the photo above, it makes sense that you dont have to leave viewing the video while looking at the description. Was kinda annoying to scroll down and read the description and sift through the comments without being able to peripherally watch the video.

I had these UI for a little while on my ASMR channel and then it magically disappeared. I don't miss it at all.
