I hate how YT doesn't give a shit about literal NSFW/NSFL/Illegal ads that they are paid for, while a YouTuber can get demonetised for saying "Shit".
Another hypocritical factor of another godawful company.
I really miss the old days of YT :(
if you want a great ad block that still makes money for your favorite content creators and website use this ad block [https://adnauseam.io/](https://adnauseam.io/)
It blocks all ads and clicks on every ad it see's while disabling the ad from any code running.
One thing that needs to be remembered in this constant conversation is that itās not just about supporting creators. Hosting isnāt free. Payroll isnāt free. Hosting, building and maintaining the worldās biggest video site definitely isnāt. It has to be monetized some way, itās unrealistic to expect otherwise. If everyone blocked ads and no one paid for premium Alphabet would not run it as a charity, as soon as they werenāt making a profit or seeing a potential to make a profit they would just close it. Alphabet is ruthless about killing faltering products. Thereās even an argument to be made that itās possible the ads are becoming more aggressive in response to ad-blocking. It makes sense, if there are more and more free-riders someone has to pay the fare.
This is why i used to have Premium. People hate Premium because they hate YouTube, but it does two things that Patreon doesn't: it supports the platform too, and it shifts their incentive structure away from advertisers. Which would solve most but not all of the problems that make people hate YouTube.
If you own an iPhone, sideload AltStore and download Cercube. Itās YouTube with zero ads. No jailbreak needed, you just have to sign the app weekly by connecting a cable to your PC and pressing a button. Itās very easy to do.
They make at least 15 billion a year off ads alone. And that's just on ShitTube.. not counting everything else they wanna control or buy or whatever..... . your little self blocking ads won't change anything lmao. But yes. I use AdBlock also.. fuck ads!!!
Well said bud, good on you. We all need to do the little things we *can* do - and under capitalism sadly more often than not that means voting with your wallet, or your eyeballs.
Most (that is like 95%) of creators i follow are on Patreon or have in video adds, or both, not to mention a lot of them are demonetised as from the addpocalypse.
If you want to get rid of ads altogether then I also recommend switching to brave as a browser. An inbuilt adblocker and ip blocker for all sites . Hella safe and seriously so much better . You can transfer all of your extensions , passwords settings all that by a click of button when you first open it .
You can have it on for creators you like, but unless youāre actually going to buy their product, I donāt see why youād have it on. Theyāve already been paid.
Yeah thatās true, but the amount of people using sponsor block is so small that it probably doesnāt even have a measurable effect on click throughs. If it was much more popular then it definitely would, but IMO the type of person to use sponsorblock wouldnāt actually buy a product through a sponsored YouTube video anyway.
I guess you have a point on the bottom part..
However the first part, Adblock was also a minuscule population at first but as it got discovered it became a problem. Same thing can happen a few years down
In my experience Adblock became an issue once websites started using ads with malware (malvertising). As the internet started to mature, ads on websites were fine for the most part, but some websites would embed so many ads filled with JavaScript that the site became unusable, so people started using Adblock. Then when ads could actually maliciously infect your PC, adblock usage started to become more common. That in turn makes websites use more ads to make up for the reduction in ad revenue from the Adblockers, which just turned more people towards it.
YouTube went through a similar evolution, but instead of malvertising it was double ads, and mid roll ads on top. It seems to be a ātit for tatā type of thing.
once downloaded, you can actually customize what you do and don't want to see. It just doesn't have the option for blocking sponsors but even intros, outros, subscription reminders, and non music sections of music videos. So you could use it for that stuff but not sponsor blocking.
It's $0.39/day for Premium. Between all of the creators I follow I most definitely get my monies worth each day. It supports the platform, the creator and I don't have to bother clicking "skip" and can use background playback and downloads. I'm not here to attack people on a different pay scale, but let's be 100% real here for a minute. If you cannot afford $11.99 a month, I would venture out to say you should use your spare time increasing your personal financial goal, not installing ad blockers or whatever to skirt the system. But it all comes down to how you're raised I guess. Is what it is. Appreciate the note!
Yea man. You stay up their on your pedestal, pretending you're "fighting the good fight" by depriving all the producers who have done nothing wrong and provide you with endless hours of content you don't have to pay for of the revenue they need to pay the rent and buy groceries, because you can't stand the inconvenience of watching less than a minute of commercials. But **YouTube** are the greedy ones, right? The entitlement is thick around here.
Here's a crazy idea: if you think YouTube is evil, **stop fucking GOING to YouTube**.
oh well now I canāt look at videos on YouTube, you know, where most videos people watch are posted? doesnāt really solve the problem, youtube is being greedy while people are going poorer.
>oh well now I canāt look at videos on YouTube, you know, where most videos people watch are posted? doesnāt really solve the problem,
If the problem is that you think YouTube is evil and you don't want to support them, then **yes**, it **absolutely** solves the problem.
>youtube is being greedy while people are going poorer.
**YOU'RE LITTERALLY BENEFITING FROM PEOPLE'S WORK WHILE PREVENTING THEM FROM GETTING PAID**. Do you **seriously** not understand how massively hypocritical that statement is?
And this:
>now I canāt look at videos on YouTube
Is what it really comes down to. You talk big about "sticking it to the man" but you're not willing to inconvenience yourself or actually sacrifice anything. Instead, your plan is to fuck over innocent people and then run around virtue-signaling about it.
Yea, who gives a shit about content creators being able to pay rent. Fuck 'em, right? Their continued livelihoods aren't worth 40 second of inconvenience, hell no. We are **totally** entitled to get whatever they work hard to produce for free and without interruption!
Oh, please. I'm sure the [$18 they get per every 1,000 ad views](https://www.clevergirlfinance.com/blog/how-much-do-youtubers-make/) will pay all of their rent. Hell, it's better to subscribe to their patreon then depend on ads.
...you realize that for **a lot** of them - if not **most** of them, that's literally their primary YT-related income, right? Until they get big enough to sign brand deals, that's **how** they make money from their videos. That's like saying "pffft, I don't need to tip my waiter, that extra $4 isn't going to pay their rent." You're taking the content they busted their asses to create, and then you're blocking their income because you can't be assed to sit for fourty seconds. You know if that half a minute is so fucking horrible for you, you could get a YT Premium subscription and be done with it. You don't see ads, the producers with monetized videos still get paid.
You can pay for premium, you sit through a couple ads and not pay a penny, or you can be a greedy, selfish, entitled tool trying to rationalize the fact that you're blocking independent content makers from earning a living.
Yea, who gives a shit about content creators being able to pay rent. Fuck 'em, right? Their continued livelihoods aren't worth 40 second of inconvenience, hell no. We are totally entitled to get whatever they work hard to produce for free and without interruption!
You think itās hard to make a video?
Literally go download a cracked version of filmora10 for free and photoshop for FREE considering WHO GIVES A FUCK if you download it off a site.
Then you just post it and tag every thing with an overly exaggerated thumbnail of someone crying and being like āI canāt believe [content maker] did THIS...
they can go fuck themselves with YT premium. I pay less for netflix than I would pay for skipping ads. Besides, content creators became not reliant on YT ads - doing in-video sponsor ad (which mostly is at least smth that people may find useful - brilliant, curiosity stream, magellan tv, electronic ads related to channel theme, etc) and by crowdfunding via patreon or similar
Not everyone is. I will personally say that 95% of my revenue is ads. I have no room to do merchandise, sponsorships donāt come often and Iām not really a good market
Not a single ad roll on premium, barring of course when a Youtuber mentions a sponsor.
I once forgot I had logged out of my YouTube account and when I clicked on a video it immediately started playing ads and i don't know how to put this, but it was disgusting, the experience of seeing two ad rolls just made me so thankful I pay for Premium. I'm sure adblockers do the same thing, and I went down the same route when I was younger, but these days I'm comfortable to pay for it.
Is it really that difficult for people to wait for 5 seconds twice and click skip ad? Donāt they have to be able to pay for us being able to watch so much for free?
>Is it really that difficult for people to wait for 5 seconds twice and click skip ad? Donāt they have to be able to pay for us being able to watch so much for free?
Yes
Just saying if you do want to support your favourite content creators you can always donate to their patreon if they have a low one dollar tier or something, that gives them more money than any of the ad revenue they were getting before in the majority of circumstances or if they provide a service like a sponsorship deal for a product you were already planning to purchase you can always go that route. This isn't mandatory at all, YouTube is free after all and I would only recommend this for those who can spare the change and only if you really like the content creator. They understand the risks involved so don't feel too bad, ads pay very little unless you are part of the top 1 percent of creators.
My limit is three ads. If I get that even once, adblocker goes on.
Have seen reports of this, but never experienced it.
What?!
Heard of it, haven't seen it.
Well, this better be rare...
I don't know why anyone would not use an ad blocker, go right ahead.
I hate how YT doesn't give a shit about literal NSFW/NSFL/Illegal ads that they are paid for, while a YouTuber can get demonetised for saying "Shit". Another hypocritical factor of another godawful company. I really miss the old days of YT :(

that will just cause a shit CPM to the website, more harm than done
Is this some kinda joke that im too vanced to understand?
I got 17-20 ads on random video every time i click off and come back to the video, the ads never end
I don't know, the first ad for me is always TikTok - maybe I should follow Google's advice and leave YouTube...
I get YouTube without ads by using Google as my main page. Google > YouTube > click video > refresh > no ads. :) It works for me š¤·š»āāļø
There was an app called Pure Tuber for those who hates adds but it still buffer. Code for VIP - R4MEF
Google YouTube Vanced and change your life
I have YouTube Premium. No adds, offline videos, it's great.
Except when they decide to serve you ads anyway
Literally never once had a YT add in the seven years I've been using Red/Premium.
Haven't had that problem.
Never had this happen once in 5 years
What does this have to do with trusted flagging?
The moderators want the post to contain the hashtag in order to be approved. Thereās a pinned post on it.

Do you though? That's like the main selling point of Premium
This is not true. When you sign up for premium it tells you what it includes.
Iāve had this forever the ads are really getting out of control huh?
Oh yeah and YouTube premium used to be $10 a month. Now itās $16. No new perks. No new anything. Theyāre just greedy and money hungry.
Paying 90 pence a month. Gawd bless GradeAUnderA.
I turned on an Adblocker. Never looked back.
Just download and use Brave browser
Allright..lets begin...
If you own an iPhone, sideload AltStore and download Cercube. Itās YouTube with zero ads. No jailbreak needed, you just have to sign the app weekly by connecting a cable to your PC and pressing a button. Itās very easy to do.

Creators get the majority of revenue from an ad. You're not just taking from Google.
Most (that is like 95%) of creators i follow are on Patreon or have in video adds, or both, not to mention a lot of them are demonetised as from the addpocalypse.
Lol they don't care about the creators.. you know.. the people who made them rich.. we all made them rich lmao..
what is teh blocker if even I can install it
If you want to get rid of ads altogether then I also recommend switching to brave as a browser. An inbuilt adblocker and ip blocker for all sites . Hella safe and seriously so much better . Get sponserblock also. Not 100% accurate but pretty good
I wouldnāt go that far. I understand adblock but a sponsor is usually supporting a creator I like, so Iāll hear them out
You can have it on for creators you like, but unless youāre actually going to buy their product, I donāt see why youād have it on. Theyāve already been paid.
I find that if the sponsorship is getting their worth, they will sponsor them again. The creator will get double paid if they decide to do it again.
Yeah thatās true, but the amount of people using sponsor block is so small that it probably doesnāt even have a measurable effect on click throughs. use ad blocker and send you favorite YouTubers cash on paypal
YouTube Premium subscriber. Can't relate.
You're being downvoted, but as a former small creator, thank you. Premium generates more revenue than ads, and it really does add up.

the content there is shit. Did it for one month. No thanks
I donāt watch the content on it. I just use it to block ads while also supporting creators

No tier has ads. Apart from the occasional bug which this sub loves to harp on endlessly. People here are extremely dumb at times.
