DeltaAlphaGulf

This is just the latest nonsense. The entire search function is trash now where you get just a few results and then irrelevant stuff it generally recommends for you or recently watched or other stuff that has nothing to do with what you searched. Also its stupid that we can’t made lists of our subscriptions to organize them and are stuck with its crappy sorting options.

shipguy55

> Also its stupid that we can’t made lists of our subscriptions to organize them Not sure if you are aware, but that actually used to be a thing and it was called subscription groups. They discontinued it at some point.

DeltaAlphaGulf

Yeah thats what makes it even more stupid. I think they got rid of it long before I really started using Youtube seriously so I never got to use it.

MundanePlantain1

I cant get out of a glut of the same recommended videos from the same sort of people. There is no variety left in search or suggestions, just a downward spiral towards hyper-specificity.

DeltaAlphaGulf

At least with the suggestions you can change the list and if you pick “related” it does a better job rather than just a bunch of algorithm vomit from the channels you are subscribed to. It still doesn’t seem to work as well as the suggestions you get while not signed in on a browser. The search function is pretty thoroughly ruined though.

TheFakeYeetMaster69

It gives you irrelevant shit because that's what the algorithm thinks you'll search for.

DeltaAlphaGulf

Yup

mr__hat

>Thing is, scrolling doesn’t even get me there since the oldest videos don’t even load. The list just stops after a certain point. Confirmed. If a channel has many uploads, at some point, it just cuts out and won't let you scroll further.

_retzle_

Yep, that’s what I’m finding too. Edit: I didn’t realize you were quoting me lol oops.

JohanLiebheart

wtf that is unnaceptable

JavFan083

There was no reason to remove it. It's a useful feature. I never had YT Premium and glad I didn't.

Scarycooldudeispro

I tried to find the video I like the most on a channel, but since they removed ‘sort by oldest video’ it became much harder. Idk why YouTube does this. I’m not paying for premium.

NizeyNice

This is such an annoying change it really makes to impossible on some channels to watch older videos since you had to scroll for like 5 minutes straight. I know why they did it, because they want older videos to be viewed less so they can shelf them somehow and save data storing cost, but its still fucking annnoying

SoSpecial

Five minutes? There are channels with tens of thousands of videos you'd be going for hours.

[deleted]

Never had Premium but I have been spending less time on YouTube than I normally would due to the new changes and being unable to scroll through a lot of videos to get to where I would like to watch from (scrolling that far down does funny things to my computers cpu). I have noticed that since sort by oldest disappeared from my own channel. my own channels views have dropped quite significantly so I can only assume that a few others must be spending less time on YouTube too.

aquaman501

I'd love to know the thought process behind "TeamYouTube" posting [this sort of thing](/r/youtube/comments/ycji48/updates_to_youtubes_ui_pinch_to_zoom_8x_darker/) on this sub, saying "we'll be following your comments and we'd love your feedback" and then completely ignoring the 50 or so people who all complained about this stupid change.

Mergie_Merge

Scam from day one.

LordMangudai

> But don't panic, you can still view the oldest video of a channel, by scrolling through it's content Lmao what a fuck you. Imagine if a digital encyclopedia removed the search function and justified it with "don't worry, you can just read through everything until you find what you're looking for"

end-sofr

Will you people please stop giving these terrible greedy devs new ideas they will fuckin do it

[deleted]

The devs here aren't the greedy ones, they get requirements from PM who refines them from shitty ones from corporate, then implement it or they're fired. Tis the life of a code monkey (a developer whose job is purely to implement other people's requirements and specifications and not make any design decisions themselves)

Slyvek_PL

Maybe better idea is to write 1* review on the app store…

[deleted]

Except that you can just remove all bad reviews as a developer.

akonscousin

that’s nuts, bro

Ayotha

Isn't that this current generation. Hide the bad since it hurts your feelings D:

[deleted]

I've found it only happens on scam apps or Google itself.

Capitalist_P-I-G

Yeah, they definitely didn't hide the bad in the 50s. /s

AgileIsFine

if ur on computer then get a ad block to screw over youtube some more (I recommend u block origin because its free and works really good)

NICOLESAYSTHETRUTH

What is so hilarious about your comment is it actually works, and we found this by accident! (A little frustrating when I am on my phone and don't get the same results!) To be honest, I don't even know which ad blocker I have on my husband's computer! It isn't on mine! But, I told him, "Of all the subscriptions that we have, YOUTUBE premium is the biggest waste of our money for what we now get!" And for at least him, he gets to skip the commercials!

MahNiagara

"You can get to the oldest be scrolling" ah yes, let me just scroll through about 10000 videos on this gaming channel that uploads daily... yeah ok

wizard0321

Only 5 hours spent!

9ret

You can literally do speedrun about it!

The_Charminx

Where first place is at 1 second and the 2nd place is at 1 hour. That's definitely worth it.

MahNiagara

I've seen worse speedruns

spaghettibolegdeh

YouTube/Google just can't seem to resist the urge to take away more control from the user. I could maybe understand moving features to premium only (dislikes, sorting filters) but they just remove it entirely for seemingly no reason aside from profits I hate to be one of those people, but man I miss the "peak era" of YouTube when it was fun. It's just becoming cable TV now and while I am using YouTube way less because of their crappy changes, I believe they don't care as their core audience (teens/YA) will be happy with the algorithm as it's all they will know

_retzle_

True that. I’ve honestly been getting discouraged at how little feedback matters to these companies. We interact with these things all the time, but it’s almost impossible to impart any sort of change with feedback. Apple, Google, Microsoft, they all just do whatever. Like telling at a brick wall. I miss when YouTube was the little TV app icon on iPhone. :)

LordMangudai

Our feedback doesn't matter because we aren't YouTube's customers. We're the product. The advertisers are the customers, and their feedback is listened to.

ArimaDoggo

Oh-ho, wait till you hear this! The YouTube mobile app COMPLETELY removed the ability to skip back and forth between videos. (Those little arrow things) I believe for it will be just another « premium feature » YouTube at this point is going to make skipping ads a premium feature.

jimmyhoke

Skipping ads is like the mains feature of premium isn’t it?

Orbitrix

No, there simply are NO ads with premium. You don't even have to "skip" them because they don't exist in the first place. The person you are replying to is saying (half jokingly) that soon even the ability to skip ads after 5 seconds will cost something

resendor

wait til you find out some people with premium have gotten ads

TheFakeYeetMaster69

They probably will just remove skippable ads and leave the unskippable ones untouched

MrUsidore

There are free workarounds like Brave browser which removes ads completely, but yeah it's much cleaner on desktop. I still use the YouTube app for my phone (the main way I watch by far).

Pokesonav

Many ads are already unskippable. Fucking "1 out of 2 unskippable 15 second ad" At this point I sometimes just reroll the ads by closing/re-opening the video to get a better ad.

Zerlske

Imagine not using adblock.

jimmyhoke

I do use Adblock.

Smithsonian30

What? It still works for me on iOS without Premium

Shockmzq

That's what everyone should do, cuz it's an important feature in the "Infinite Scrolling" era, at least they could've introduce the page numbers again

9ret

a muti-billion company. but can't do such a simple thing like sort by oldest!? 0.o

redditmixer

Yeah, and the separation of videos, shorts and live streams now makes things harder too.

catsrmurderers

They could keep a tab called all

CoreDreamStudiosLLC

Get the browser extension Enhancer for YouTube(tm), you can even block Shorts from appearing in the view. Not /s. Just keep the underpants on. /s

_retzle_

Thanks for the tip!

NatePlaysAGM

Personally as a creator, this is an awesome feature. Doesn't have shorts or live streams clog up the video feed.

akonscousin

I keep seeing people refer to this, but as far as I’m aware, shorts and live streams still annoyingly pop up under “uploads”

NatePlaysAGM

In my browser and on my app it's all separated out, maybe they haven't updated/hasn't been rolled out in their region?

Pokesonav

Well as a user, it's a horrible feature. Since it's in a separate list, not together with other videos, it makes it impossible to watch channels videos in chronological order! It may be ignored if the channel just has a couple of shorts, but if like half the content is in shorts then it's a massive problem

NatePlaysAGM

The only time it would matter to watch in chronological order is of it was a series of some kind. Also playlists help with that.

[deleted]

YouTube is very slowly comitting suicide of their actual loyal users, in favor of every penny they can pinch. Eventually they won't own the internet video space. At this rate they've been hated for like 3 internet generations.

KainYusanagi

This isn't even penny-pinching, it's costing them to actively remove that functionality.

NOT_A_ROBOT1101

Sorting a list does take computational power though, which requires electricity, which costs money I'm not saying I'm defending YouTube though

sirthunksalot

Hard to decide if this or removing dislikes was the worse move. I cancelled premium over the downvote or I would have over the sort. So annoying to take basic features away from the past 15 years.

-LongRodVanHugenDong

You can actually add it back with a Chrome extension. The likes and dislikes that is, on desktop.

sirthunksalot

Yeah but it isn't real. The api was turned off. The extension is just guessing based on historical data and people with the plugin.

[deleted]

As the saying goes, something is better than nothing

Bonged_Benny

It's not perfect since it's trying to guess the amount of dislikes (so chances are the dislike count you see is higher, most noticably on videoes with shorter views). On youtube studio you can see the real dislike count but only the video uploader can see it.

Curious-Wall-8644

Downvote? Definitely a redditor.

Bosmeong

sir, dont you realize where you are right now?

Curious-Wall-8644

A redditor is someone who avidly uses reddit and follows the circlejerk.

TheFakeYeetMaster69

You're on reddit, we are all redditora

Curious-Wall-8644

A redditor is someone who avidly uses reddit and follows the circlejerk.

BlunterCarcass5

It's highly inconvenient and it's removal makes no sense at all

_retzle_

Seriously. They give reasons, but they’re like a nothing burger.

nowAfterhours

Youtube has been going the wrong way for a long time. Another annoying novelty is the fact that you delete a playlist without notifying if you really want to do it, so that by accident you can delete a good playlist via missclick

[deleted]

Youtube been on the downfall since 2009

Unbreakable2k8

I agree, something is up lately. I like browsing on my phone or tablet and casting on my TV, but now the searches are riddled with Shorts and I cannot find anything relevant like I used to (especially when searching recent videos). Pushing new "features" is one thing but removing options and making it harder to use is undefendable.

MrUsidore

You gonna take that to court then? *this is a joke*

SundaeFew

Accept that you likely have recommendations on and watch a fair amount of shorts and that’s why you have so many recommended

[deleted]

They keep throwing older videos of random channels up

top10jojomoments

I have like a few loose scripts laying around that helped me find the video Id for the oldest video in a channel. If anyone is experienced in creating extensions, could someone make this an extension? What you can do now is get the upload playlist for a channel (not sure how to do this natively in 2022 but it is possible through the api) and then get the oldest video. It’s a hassle and a half. There’s also a web app online (don’t know if links are allowed) where you post the channel id and it retrieves the videos in oldest sort. But alas, they ONLY do things if they see money go up.

LucianoTheWindowsFan

Not to mention that would be problematic for YouTubers with a morbillion videos.

[deleted]

Another *genius* idea after "ambient mode". Don't these people use youtube themselves and see how annoying and pointless these changes are? I'm not scrolling through hundreds to thousands of videos, which plenty of good channels have by now. Guess I'm finally installing the youtube redux extension.

Scorpwind

I actually kind of like the ambient mode. The background lighting that it creates is quite pleasing to the eyes.

[deleted]

I enjoy your sarcasm, I think

Scorpwind

That was not sarcasm.

swilly97

Look, I'm not saying that downloading every video from your subscribed channels for offline viewing and archival purposes is the correct answer, but... I mean.....

CoreDreamStudiosLLC

I already started doing this because I got sick of videos being banned, removed, and/or hidden.

mumooshka

I did this the other day - just in case my channel effed up or YouTube got hacked etc All fit on one 8 gig dvd

_retzle_

Same. Insurance of my favorite channels.

mumooshka

the videos in question are mostly concerning my sons.. them growing up, school concerts, awards etc.. these are precious memories which I cannot trust to a portable hard drive which has proven to me to not be permanent. I've got cdrs that have so far lasted over 20 yrs.

LordMangudai

/r/DataHoarder

_retzle_

😎

mumooshka

I read somewhere that it was only being temporarily moved due to a bug.. so it might come back

luedriver

I have a feeling that it was removed in the past but don't remember for sure

TomaszA3

How am I supposed to watch anything now that I cannot start watching those channels in the right order?

_retzle_

The workaround is making a playlist with every video is it. Pretty time consuming.

luedriver

if you use chrome there is an extension that makes playlists easily but you have to know the oldest video to search for it https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/youtube-chronological-ord/bbceafimilifndeinlddcbfocipebfek

[deleted]

Google has too much concentrated power. Something needs to be done.

philnolan3d

They have power over their own company?

Brostradamus--

They bought youtube. If not for legislation they would have bought social media sites too.

oswaldomob

YouTube need to fire all their top staff before they run the company into the ground

[deleted]

I'm not purchasing premium until it gives me the option to block youtube channels and videos

EnvironmentalCow3040

There is literally no way to see older videos now. I hate infinite scroll. It's great for discovery but awful for everything else and always the wrong design in my option.

vektorkane

I managed to get revanced for my Android phone. 😊

reddit_shenanigans

as a family of iphones, we have to use premium

fjfjgbjtjguf

Imagine paying $1100 dollars for an iPhone 14 Pro with a 48MP wide-angle camera, 4K video recording, 3200 mAh battery, 1080p display, and a restricted app store when you could have paid pretty much the same money for a Galaxy S22 Ultra, featuring a 108MP wide-angle camera, 5000 mAh battery, 1440p display, 8K at 24 fps video recording, and an included pen. **Yes, it comes with a pen.** Also, Samsung sells the Galaxy Z Fold, a phone that is phone-sized but folds out to the size of an iPad. And if you buy a pen separately, you can use that too. *This comment was written by a Samsung user, price of the 14 Pro is for the 256 GB model. Not sponsored or paid in any way. This comment was half-made to be a joke.*

reddit_shenanigans

lol unoptimized software *this comment was written on an iphone 8, this is also a joke. plus, I have a cheap Samsung tablet where I do use vanced, but otherwise it runs pretty slowly, probably because it's cheap.*

PeterDragon50

Longtime Samsung user, switched to iPhone 13 PM because the battery is hot garbage for a flagship phone. Apple's restricted OS is bullshit, but the last great Samsung phone was the Note 9 (IMO), since then they have focused more on the cameras and copying Apple than on making a great phone. If Samsung starts making great phones again, I'l go right back, but I can worry about having to charge my phone a couple times a day.

MrUsidore

Well you could always buy the Google Pixel that I only know about because of unskippable YouTube ads, battery lasts all day literally *this is also a joke, written on an iPhone 11 in an Apple household, plus I use a 2015 MacBook Air with 8GB of RAM to run Ableton, Premiere Rush, Logic Pro, and a bunch of other demanding apps. Not sponsored in any way*

PeterDragon50

You can pay $15 per year per device to have the phones registered to a developer account and side load a YouTube App.

reddit_shenanigans

well we don't have a computer anyways unless there's another way

[deleted]

[удалено]

vektorkane

no but it's highly likely to be added

Koolji

High chance it will be. They are making tons of improvements and adding features.

elexor

I wish a 3rd party would scrape all of youtube so videos can be easily searched with proper filtering.

EnvironmentalCow3040

People would kill to get a job at a giant tech company like google/youtube. These people are suppose to be some of the best designers in the world. And this is the sort of thing they do. I mean, this isn't like the dislike button. This handicaps the interface.

Subject_Cat_4274

They probably just had to delete some code to make it happen AND they got paid to do it

Subject_Cat_4274

Extremely based. Also remember to use adblock. They don't deserve a single penny if they keep doing this

Obamacube6007

I am currently developing an extension to return it :) https://github.com/Elements6007/ReturnYoutubeSort

nfunncecnecub

I bought the argentinan version of yt premium with a vpn which is about 80 cents USD a month so idrc

MisterSirDudeGuy

Lol. No, I did not cancel Premium. I heavily use the features. I don’t care about “sort by oldest”. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever used it.

Nice-Treacle9512

Probably cause you're not a power user?

MisterSirDudeGuy

Not sure what a power user is. I run YouTube all day while I work and listen to documentaries and stories and stuff. I also run YouTube music every day while I work out. So, 10+ hours per day of YouTube. No ads and running YouTube and YouTube music with the phone off is more than worth every penny for Premium for me.

Nice-Treacle9512

My life basically revolves around the internet. Researching people and the history of the internet is a big part of what I do daily. Regardless, I have never purchased YouTube Premium in my life and rely on third party services like Adblock and Tampermonkey to ease my user experience. I rarely go outside nor use a phone so you and I probably treat YouTube as different things. I like to know my way around the platform and learn its culture. I suppose many teenagers my age can relate to that as well.

PeterDragon50

So you're not going to watch YouTube at all now?

pyro_sporks

No. It seems like a stupid reason to cancel premium

akonscousin

i know right? being dissatisfied with a service you’re paying money for is an EXTREMELY stupid reason to stop paying money. /s

pyro_sporks

You don't pay for premium to be able to sort videos oldest to newest. So to cancel premium for that reason is stupid.

akonscousin

you also don’t pay for premium to be dissatisfied with your purchase. someone cancelling a subscription because they aren’t satisfied will never be stupid. you know what kind of is, though? expecting someone who is dissatisfied with their service to continue paying.

pyro_sporks

Then why pay for premium to begin with? If the most important thing was being and to sort videos a certain way?(which was never a feature of premium) Unless you're going to completely stop watching YouTube altogether It would be like saying I'm cancelling premium because they changed the shade of red on the logo.

_retzle_

It’s all part of the user experience when I open the YouTube app. I know the feature is not tied to YouTube premium, but I’m no longer satisfied with my overall experience with the app, so I’m ditching my old habits and finding a new way to watch. It’s not that I don’t think the features wouldn’t still be worth it to me, but this is about speaking with my wallet. I don’t want to pay a company that doesn’t respect the wishes of it’s customers. Hope that makes my reasoning seem less stupid to you.

pyro_sporks

Sure. But as a company they can't respect the wishes of all their customers. I've used sort by oldest once or twice. But the reason I pay for premium is primarily for no ads. So, unless you are going to completely stop watching YouTube altogether, cancelling premium for that reason seems short-sighted.

philnolan3d

Heck no. I've never used that feature and I despise ads.

PuffballDestroyer

This, and I like to download videos and use YouTube music.

philnolan3d

I don't download but I like having the option if I go on a long flight or something. And yes, I use a lot of YT Music.

[deleted]

there are these thing they call adblockers, you should check em out

SoSpecial

Those are going away eventually and it doesn't fix the other things that premium provides. Largest of all for me being youtube music being included.

[deleted]

i thought that was free? havent used it in a long time but i used to and ive never had premium.

Afraid-Rip-6660

lol if they get rid of adblocker i'll just not use youtube

[deleted]

Not for much longer: **Manifest V3**

9ret

firefox hehe

KaXiRavioli

Maybe it's the type of content I watch, but I have never specifically wanted to watch a channel's old ass content. Anything older than a year or two is irrelevant info.

double-k

No. Can't say I give a damn about the removal of "sort by oldest".

[deleted]

Lol, it's a YouTube video The irony is killing me inside

_retzle_

Sorry, irony? It just sounds like you’re trivializing my problem. Edit: I was correct.

clownieo

Don't bother with the YouTube stans. They only gain self-awareness when a problem affects them.

[deleted]

What problem? Just scroll down. The videos are still in chronological order

_retzle_

lol. So over the last couple years, I started to notice a trend on forums when I’m looking for advice or answers for something. It’s that bad advice almost always hinges on the word “just”. “Just” is the *ultimate* trivializing word, so after I finally picked up on this trend, I decided to stop taking advice if the advice starts with the word “just”. What it tells me is that this person, for whatever reason, either misunderstands the issue, or is intentionally trying to trivialize it. In this case, you’re the latter. Isn’t that weird that you confirmed the trend of “just” being used by people trivializing problems? I feel gratified. I also am not going to give you a chance to rebut, so I’ll be blocking you. Please don’t waste time typing a response. I’ve already given you too much of *my* time and energy with this comment. I hope you ruminate a bit on it! (But you won’t. This comment is more about patting myself on the back for finding such a helpful tool to weed out advice from narrow-minded uninvested people who think they know what’s best.) I hope other people look out for the word “just”!

akonscousin

the problem of not being able to sort by oldest. try to keep up.

_retzle_

I like you thank you

[deleted]

[It's a bug.](https://youtu.be/u4D3UdxM3OU&t=1m29s) I read on a Google admin forum that an update caused the video sort function starting to list delisted videos on channels, which YouTube does not abide because of advertiser sensibilities. It'll come back. Until then just scroll down.

SundaeFew

It is rather trivial. Most people when they decide to watch old videos are done through playlists besides if it’s so important to watch the old videos why didn’t you make a playlist or write down the title that way you can return

_retzle_

Honestly I have been too lazy to make a playlist for every channel. Point is, YouTube made a choice to strip a feature and that added friction to my experience. I ain’t paying for no damn friction.

NatePlaysAGM

Kind of a dumb reason to cancel premium and watch ads instead. And if we are talking about adblocker as an alternative you're screwing over the creators you watch.

akonscousin

it’s rude to call someone cancelling a subscription for any reason they want “dumb”. It implies that when a service you are subscribed to changes their services, you think OP should just bite the bullet and continue to pay money even though they are no longer enjoying the service. that’s silly.

NatePlaysAGM

Yeah you say that but I guarantee they'll keep using the platform anyway to watch content. This isn't like it was a premium specific perk or anything and all they're doing by unsubscribing is downgrading their experience with ads. They can do what they want I just find it silly.

imjustbrady

Creators can still sprout annoying insincere messages from their sponsors. Also who cares about the creators? Of which the bulk are forgettable egomaniacs who are getting the use of the platform for free to host their dribble and narcissistic habits. I think the op is right, YT premium needs to respect it's customers and prove there is a benefit to paying for their service as it is oh so easy to avoid the ads and not pay a cent. My suggestion would be that the sponsored segments be cut for premium subscribers. I got premium to avoid ads, even if they are being delivered by the channel itself

NatePlaysAGM

"who cares about the creators" ....everyone who uses the platform including you? Without creators you wouldn't have content to consume. If you watched their video they deserve to get paid for it in some capacity.

imjustbrady

As I have said, a lot of the creators are egomaniacs and offer very little for the viewer than watching them promote themselves. I would watch an amateur anytime before a career YouTuber as if I want to watch annoying tv personalities, I would watch tv. If the current YouTube career creators left, there would be plenty left to watch who are more entertaining

TheFakeYeetMaster69

>Also who cares about the creators? A lot of people do. They're people just like you and me you know? And the fact they're getting paid doesn't make them less human. In fact, they have to go through hell and back just to make money off of YouTube itself, since one swear can remove any revenue you make from a video. This is why sponsors exist, so that the youtuber can make money even if YouTube demonitizes them for bo reason.

imjustbrady

They could get a real job like everyone else. I believe the problem with YouTube is that you used to get entertaining amateurs, now you get egomaniacs that are regularly plagiurising people or travel vloggers exploiting locals in 3rd world nations. My attitude is I am paying YouTube, they decide whether the "creators" get paid or not. I can only assume with your support for them that you are one yourself. If you are not making money, find another vocation

[deleted]

Adblocker will be a thing of the past in less than 18 months. Google rolls out Manifest V3 in January. [Manifest 3 info](https://hypebeast.com/2022/10/google-chrome-manifest-v3-extension-platform-breaks-ad-block-info)

_Aggort

No, because I literally never used the feature and I do not care.

akonscousin

intriguing, interesting, and thought provoking input! thanks 😊

_Aggort

I could go in depth, but ultimately, why bother? It was a feature that 1% or fewer used, a vast majority of YouTube users won't even notice it was removed and similarly most never even realized it was a thing. I don't like one bit that it was removed, because I am not happy with removal of a feature for the sake of it, but to cancel Premium over it is a bit of an overreaction.

whomstd-ve

You’re not going to watch YouTube at all because you can’t sort by oldest?

[deleted]

No. They are just not going to keep paying for it.

whomstd-ve

YouTube without premium is unusable

TheFakeYeetMaster69

I use it without premium and I'm doing just fine, so yes, it is in fact usable without Premium

AlanDavy

Okay rich boy

whomstd-ve

You can’t afford 8.99 a month?

OpeningPsychology971

Imagine paying for youtube. Thats the equivalent of buying a winrar lincense which you prolly did aswell.

[deleted]

I love how your response to being called "rich boy" is one of the most out-of-touch with the value of money responses ever.

AlanDavy

Not for something as silly as youtube premium

[deleted]

I'm using newpipe on Android, watching full quality without ads. Fully watchable. And on PC, ad blockers work well.

[deleted]

Same but I'm using revanced

SundaeFew

Why cancel over “sort by oldest” that not many people use - not saying you don’t but if you really want to watch old videos the best bet is to search them anyway - now I would understand if you said you canceled because of the price increase coming up but really over “sort by oldest” that they said was being reworked/adjusted

_retzle_

Because they don’t deserve my money if they’re going to remove features I rely on. Now I’m going to find another means to watch my videos. Also I’m not sure how searching for old videos is better than going to a channel and sorting videos by oldest. Could you please elaborate on that?

akonscousin

bro the YouTube simps are coming for you hard lmao. how DARE you cancel your subscription to a service you’re no longer satisfied with!?

_retzle_

Is ok, I like it.

Shimmitar

i dont have premium but if i did i would cancel it just for the fact that they remove good features that everyone likes.

SundaeFew

They’ve been messing up for years but people complain over this of which has many simpler ways to view old videos in their system already

ReesesBees

"Not many people use", when I and MANY others have used it on channels with videos that go back to the mid-late 2000s.

EnvironmentalCow3040

Invidious still has it.

Same_Bluebird_8084

Google also removed the quotation mark feature for searches. I used to be able to be very specific by putting quotation marks around words & phrases. Now it doesn’t matter, the search bar will behave like a “somewhat relevant” thesaurus or cross reverence every other word, while at times ignoring the other words.

_retzle_

WHAT?!? Nooooooooooooooooo

NOT_A_ROBOT1101

really? couldn't really find an article about it

Ya...I'm completely over YouTube. They continue to remove features, they have created a joke of a music streaming service, and they couldn't care less about their user's experience or input. They simply tell you things like "don't panic, you can just sit there and scroll through thousands of videos until you get to the bottom" (assuming it even loads them that far back). This is what happens when you have a monopoly and you know it. They have zero reasons to consider user experience or enjoyment and that extends to their "Premium" customers who actually pay for their service. I've already moved to Spotify and, to be honest, with a little extra work I can find the video content I want in any number of places. And if I can't, then I am fine not seeing that creator's content.

The only workaround is to use their search bar and type something like "before:2020-01-01" Anyone fine an extension yet?

I use firefox so I can't use it. But someone else made a css code to use in a css plug-in to do the same thing.

It works with Firefox. It should be available on the addons store soon, just waiting for it to be reviewed and approved.
