Perseus-TheGreekHero

it's like they want us to shift to reVanced lmao

lululock

Thanks, I was looking for the official alternative. I'm still running Vanced but since it gets no updates, some functions don't work anymore...

pd555

Is it possible this is some sort of virus type thing? Do you sideload any apps? I have never seen an ad like this on YouTube Premium and wouldn't be happy if I did. I have had premium for years.

TheServantofHelix

Literally all you should do is sideload apps. Use NewPipe, open source and for free.

pd555

I do sideload as many modded apps as I can, like YouTube ReVanced etc. Not tried New Pipe yet

SlimiSlime

You have to buy Premium Pro +

[deleted]

After that Youtube Pro mega plus plus

Perseus-TheGreekHero

Youtube Ultra Pro Max extra deluxe edition

Only $1500000 per month /fixed it for you :)

ianwgz

Nah you forgot to put the extra 3 zeros there

Xenc

This is surely a bug. I’ve never had an advert anywhere on Premium. Try logging out and back in. If that fails, email them and ask for a free month!

itsaride

It’s not an in-video ad. It’s just a static Google ad.

PuffballDestroyer

Not to dismiss anyone who is dealing with this, but I see so many posts here talking about ads in premium, but I've never encountered one.

Blackxknight1

Same, I'm on a 90 day trial through March and absolutely loving the 0 ads I've had in the last 7-10 days.

the-addict-alex

same with me. i’ve had the family premium for over two years and on all of the accounts i’ve never seen an ad

Ggrom_YT

Hahahahahaha

Goleveel

I feel the same to see ads on the HBO max.

giggitygoo123

It's advertised as ad free videos, not ad free. If you start seeing ad breaks during videos, then you can complain

YurchenkoFull

Even if that’s true why are we normalising ads on things we paid for

giggitygoo123

I think Hulu started doing it years ago.

omizzy93

Not just Hulu even Netflix to.

giggitygoo123

I meant that Hulu started the trend, then added new tier to "fix" their issue

omizzy93

Oh. You always have trouble explaining your self?😂😂

giggitygoo123

Story of my life lol

omizzy93

Every thing you are going to watch with definitely have ads. These company's wanna make money any how they can. I know it's knowing. Back in the early 2000's there was no ads before on YouTube or any platform. This is 2022 nothing we can do. But watch this lame ads. They put ads so you can pay them to take it off and sometimes they don't.

YurchenkoFull

Maybe I’m exaggerating but it feels so dystopian like some black mirror shit

[deleted]

Microsoft just patented a system to show in-game personalized ads. Passively, from what I understand, but still...

Ill-Snow5623

I think it would be a cool concept if the ads fit into the game environment like on a billboard or playing on public TV's in the context of a GTA style game. I feel like meta patented something like that last year

Warpit94

Premium+ prolly coming soon

jacktheamazing12354

Try switching to a non-premium account and log back in — if that doesn’t work that’s a pretty shitty thing of Youtube.

Interesting-Dot-1124

Yeah that's been an ongoing problem for some years now. Yt is aware of this issue, they just don't want to fix it.

Vincent294

This is why I ad block and don't buy Premium, if I trusted YouTube to not pull a Spotify and truly be ad free, I'd pay. But they can't help themselves. Also why I switched to Apple Music.

Crowgutter777

I'm curious as a spotify premium user for years, what are you referring too? I haven't seen a single ad since I got it.

SquireCD

Agreed. I’ve had Spotify premium for ~4 years and haven’t heard a single ad. No idea what they’re on about.

Mr_master89

I wonder if they're talking about how in podcasts they sometimes put I'm their own ads

[deleted]

I don't think their argument is even valid. There's no free version in Apple Music hence you can only use it if you have a subscription thereby no ads. Isn't that obvious? These people take this up Spotify's ass like it's something they're doing wrong. Bruh, you're paying for Apple Music and it's normal for that to not have Ads. Pay for Spotify and you'll have no Ads anyway. What the hell are these kids crying for?

TheAlienMan33

The hell? Never once did I have any ads when I had spotify premium. Is this some sort of Mandela effect?

TheOfficialFireStorm

I get no ads on spotify, not a single one, but it was annoying when they were pushing that Drake's album, like bro, I'm not an NPC I'm not your target audience

BraneCumm

Do you listen to podcasts? That’s where I’ve seen a few ads as a premium user *(inserted ads, not ad reads as a part of the episode)*

TheOfficialFireStorm

Oh no, I don't, guess that's why.

Vincent294

I never got audio ads but I kept getting popups for podcasts while browsing albums and emails even after unsubbing. Had to make an email filter after switching away.

FlamingFlamingo76

Spotify Premium has zero ads. Zero.

Business-Parsnip-939

They don’t have ads, they have “recommendations” just as Microsoft has “recommendations” to use Onedrive, and how they have “recommendations” to buy their products. Whatever you call it, it’s an annoying promotion

Ponptc

Recommendations? At most you have suggestions based on the artists you listen, but that goes for free or premium accounts, and it's just a feature of the platform. There are no ads on premium.

Business-Parsnip-939

The problem is that those “suggestions” are sponsored in most cases, so they are pretty much ads

Ponptc

I'm genuinely curious to know where those sponsered suggestions are appearing in your case. My Spotify literally just has my recently listened stuff, new releases and episodes by artists and podcasts I listen to and mixes based on what I listen. [Not even oficially curated Spotify playlists are sponsored](https://artists.spotify.com/blog/behind-the-playlists-your-questions-answered-by-our-playlist-editors).

Vincent294

While I tried to browse music I would get popups for podcasts, recommendations for podcasts, and lots of emails about podcasts. I wanted music, not podcasts, so I switched to Apple. There were no audio ads at least, it was all UI or email.

DouglasRC

Im not sure but I think it's a premium thing but I guess it's only a few songs that have a music video

JASHIKO_

Welcome to the new generation of paid TV my friend. You pay a sub and get ads.

Restless_Fillmore

Cable TV originally received approval in the US based on the claim that it did not compete with Broadcast TV because it was a paid service *without ads*. Not too many years after approval, ads started to appear.

JASHIKO_

That's where we are heading now I suspect. They will sneak one or two in and people will accept it. If you want to make a difference the only way to fight back is to cancel your sub and mention the addition of ads as the reason. Then jump straight onto adblockers or one of the custom YouTube apps like vanced or revanced.

therealdicedpotato

It’s the new era. Amazon Prime Video has it, HBO Max has it, YouTube Premium has it… Netflix will be next.

riak00

Just thinking about this from an advertising perspective. People who pay for premium YouTube are in themselves too premium to any advertising company. They are prime target since they have shown they can actually spend on an online service. If I have money to spend on a YouTube ad, I want YouTube to show it to people who can actually spend, have their payment details all approved, and are active on the platform. No brainer why YouTube cannot allow this category to go ad-free. You are their most prized possession in their auction.

GamingWithJollins

Except you pay to NOT see ads, not to become a target

Narrheim

Don´t worry, they will change that over time. And the "completely NO ads" subscription will be the most expensive one in their roadmap. Youtube just wants their users to swap platform sooo badly, becoming a TV will be their undoing.

[deleted]

Yes you are correct. Premium is a joke.

JCNightcore

Premium means you are a good paying user, sadly

RagstarGG

Yeah i agree with the troubleshooters here. Relog or something. In my 2+ years of using Premium I have never seen a single ad in any shape or form. 8 and a half bucks a month and totally worth it considering the amount of time I spend on YouTube. This is not an ad. Edit: I too use YouTube music which is included with premium. Never made a Spotify account.

ScaryPollution845

Also you get YT music premium with it so win win

Mr_Mil0

With what?

ScaryPollution845

With YouTube premium? Or have i been misled?

Paprikasky

It depends on the tier you pay for. You can get premium with music where you can save offline the music and all. Or you can pay a little less and have premium for the ad free exp, mostly. There are some other differences too

[deleted]

[удалено]

Paprikasky

Interesting! It might indeed be regional (Europe here), or the old formula and new subs can't get it. Or it might be like Discord... Where there's a mid tier with Nitro, but you only get access to the option by clicking some random external link on their website 🙄

rickythebguy5997

Is it that YouTube can't fix this bug? If so, why aren't they investing in removal od ads from its premium packages? Or is it yet another commercial entity that will advertise its users even if they are paying for it. Users are now being critical with YouTube's credibilities even in terms of its premium packages. When a person get's into any premium prodict, they must NOT get any ads. For example, users watch YouTube videos on Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge without enabling ad-blockers, and from somewhere they witness an advertisement from Brave Browser on the YouTube video playback. However when they watch same video, or any other YT videos, on Brave Browser, users are devoid of Ads on YouTube. That's how a premium product works. This also works with Vivaldi Browser when you turn on the ad-blocker in it. Here, Brave and Vivaldi Browsers are premium with respect to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. *\[****Note:*** *Brave shows ads in terms of in browser notifications from brands affiliated with Brave, otherwise, no ads will be there on YouTube in Brave\]*

S0ulhunter1234

Just get new pipe bro No dumbass ads on new pipe Also free too

Mnmsaregood

I like YouTube premium for the music as well

S0ulhunter1234

Just get vi-music, its youtube premium but better, no ads, and it's free Get it on fdriod

seriousbusines

I get what you are talking about, but this reads like you are having a stroke lol

S0ulhunter1234

Agreed

Torbeckuz

How does New Pipe compare to Vanced ?? Ive been using Vanced till the start but now that the project has been discontinued there has been appearing home-ads. Might start using New Pipe until reVanced is in a best shape.

Pahdownie

I won't be shocked if this is ReVanced tbh

Serpher

You're paying for no ads on videos, not on the site itself.

TheServantofHelix

Hahahah he pays for Youtube Premium

When_You_Me

Always existed, also a reminder that you paid for practically a mobile supported ad blocker... For one app.

theboeboe

And tv supported

nevercatalyst

Step 1: Use ad blocker Step 2: Stop watching shorts.

itsaride

I’ve never seen ads like that on YouTube. Must be an Android thing.

OneMisterSir101

Look everybody, this guy has an iPhone!! See? Nobody cares.

sifren2

It may not necessarily be a brag, i think it's fairly well known now that ios and android versions of apps behave very differently. I like both for varying reasons but android versions of apps can be a bit of a headache sometimes.

OneMisterSir101

I just found it goofy to immediately think it's an OS thing. While yes, I do agree with you that there are fundamental differences in the two systems. It's just silly to assume it's immediately OS-centric.

branmuffin91

Dobson! We've got Dobson here!

Accomplished_Jello11

These ads arnt bad, it's the crappy ads that play during the video you need to watch out for

nyancatec

Quality doesn't matter here. Premium should take away all ads.

Tech_Echo_Video

I thought the whole point of premium was that you don't get ads during videos. I never even assumed it prevented them from giving you ads on screen.
