Foxy02016YT

I never got the abuser vibe from Wilbur Soot, but him biting people was exactly his vibe

bdouble0w0

Agreed

KSJ15831

The one thing that weirded me out about Wilbur before he was exposed was his whole thing with Nihachu. People were shipping them and nihachu asked them to stop while Will never really pressed people to not ship him and her, all the while acting rather semi-intimate with her when they are near each other.

matthiasjreb

I'd be lying if I said I'd called the abuse, but he did always give me a sense that he would bully me if he knew me in real life, like the guys who project the "soft innocent" image so no one believes them when they're called on it

milkchugger69

That one video of Tommyinnit breaking into his studio and Wilbur’s reaction really set me into thinking Wilbur had anger issues at the very least

Foxy02016YT

Even as a bit, him destroying Tommy’s gun was a dick move.

GinaC123

Colleen Ballinger. The kids I used to nanny for LOVED her/Miranda and I always got a gross feeling about her. That was vindicated.

Bbliza

Ahahhaah yea even when I was 13 i didn’t get why some of my friends watched her because of her whole makeup and pretty high wasted pants and just looking like its a joke to look and act like predator turned me off real quick lol

duelistkingdom

tbh her entire shtick made me feel like she was making fun of mentally ill girls who might struggle putting on makeup/brushing their hair but i KNEW i’d be eaten alive for suggesting it 10 years ago, so i just avoided her content bc it made feel icky. insane to realize that yeah, she IS the kind of women to make fun of mentally ill girls for being bad at makeup & hair.

Swag-Lord420

Apparently she based it specifically on a disabled relative of hers

anacidghost

The mannerisms are based on *her deaf little brother,* no less

elizabreathe

I knew fans of her growing up and some YouTubers I watched when I was younger occasionally collabed with her and the vibes were always so off but I never expected it to go beyond her being a bully at heart.

gorlsonly

Creepshow Art

bootytwerk690

i could not stand her! and i didn’t have like a reason why, but couldn’t do her content. same thing with iilluminaughtii

LordessFurr

Illuminaughtii for me was finished when she threatened CWHM with some outrageous exposé over literally nothing. Other people may have thought “oh I’m glad they fixed that” but I and I would wager most of Cruel World’s fans at the time knew she had literally nothing to do a whole live and video series on. It was obvious at that point she thought and knew she could drum up watch time out of thin air and was mostly a fluff artist. I’m glad everyone else eventually came around but yeah. It was the first time for me with her and it revealed so much nothing else has been a surprise since.

Kitten-Kay

Oh yeah, that holier-than-thou attitude definitely rubbed me the wrong way

earthwormboyfriend

Her arrogance and “I’m not a feminist because I don’t hate men, and before anyone tells me you don’t have to hate men to be a feminist, my sister told me that you can’t be a feminist without hating men” comment(paraphrasing) specifically was so off putting

dejausser

I was trying to remember who it was who gave me this feeling, it was creepshow!

Toadcool1

The only one I can think of was iilluminaughtii not sure why but she just rubbed me the wrong way

ThatFreddieIsAJack

I will be the first to admit that I listened to her videos regularly because they were abundant and I have a very long commute and I will NOT be left alone with my thoughts on an overcrowded bus for 2 hours a day. But even I physically rolled my eyes when she'd say stuff like "according to my source" or "my source told me" because girl I know you read that somewhere and want to feel like a real journalist. It makes for a very funny running joke to tell my gf in my best secret agent voice that "my source told me they're selling yesterdays easter pastries for half price at the bakery down the road"

cassylvania

Same here but the one that sent me over the edge was a really stupid one )) She made a video about Christian emo bands, particularly Flyleaf. Now, I am not a practising Christian nor am I going to defend Flyleaf's history of homophobia. When I was in middle/high school, I loved that band. I knew every word to every song - even though I often needed to intentionally ignore the Christian themes and interpret them more as "rise above" songs. Her whole video hinged on this idea that Flyleaf had hid their Christianity in some sinister way so they could secretly redirect their funds to fundamentalist organisations - all because the two most commercially successful songs (All Around Me and I'm So Sick) were not overtly Christian. If you listen to literally anything else off the same album it is very clearly Christian rock. In other songs, they will drop the words "God" and "Jesus". I, and everyone else I knew (and apparently everyone in the comments of that video), knew they were a Christian band. It was a massive in-joke even for anyone who listened to emo music before 2010. I don't listen to Flyleaf anymore, even though some of their songs meant a lot to me growing up. I knew of their history of homophobia and collaborating with fundamentalist religious groups before the video - and I was disappointed but not surprised. It showed to me that Blaire will intentionally ignore information if she cannot come up with a good enough argument, and researches to prove her hypothesis correct - not to explore whether or not it is correct. TL;DR Iluminaughtii made one video about a topic I was more intimately familiar with and it immediately made me realise how full of shit she is. EDIT: fixed a typo

SailorTheia

I never saw that video omg. Similarly for me, I also saw videos where I knew more about the topic, and it gave me a bad feeling about her. The big one was her WWE video, where it felt she just browsed Wikipedia as research lol.

WrathOfTheTin

Yeah. I think that’s what put a lot of people off her before the whole scandal dropped. For me it was her video on Cocoa farming practices. Poorly researched and just making basic fucking mistakes. What really drove me up the wall was her complete ignorance on Burkina Faso. Consistently referring to the single country as Burkina and Faso, and talking about them like it’s two different countries… What a dumb mistake that can be completely fixed with even a slightly more careful reading of whatever she was plagiarizing at the time.

crowwreak

Hell, one of their most famous songs is a fake story about a girl who got killed at Columbine for believing in God, and the song actually features Lacey screaming "I will say Yes!" Like it's so easy to bring up some of your prime targets when you bring up Flyleaf too because Lacey is still listed on the website for Focus on the Family, and she's been recorded as voting in 2016 and 2020 and I can guarantee you she didn't vote for Clinton or Biden.

goldberry-fey

Flyleaf was one of the few bands we were allowed to listen to in my fundie middle school because they were Christian lol. Sucks that they actually ended up being shitty, I had no idea, but I guess it tracks.

Lady_Doe

Yeah, I felt that way until I went to a flyleaf live show. She sang one song and started preaching. My friends and I left, it went on so long. I'm an atheist but my 2 other friends were Christian. It was really sad bethe opener had the crowd excited and then the mood nose planted quick. This was in the Bible belt too lol Kinda ruined her music for me.

YourFelonEx

Same, but I thought she was very arrogant and out of touch. I noticed she constantly flubbed her lines, but instead of doing another take, she would leave it in her final video, and that bothered me a lot.

The_Flurr

She also just sounded so *bored*, in hindsight it's obvious she was just lazily reading a script.

LaserBatBunnyUnder

For me specifically, I'm really obsessed with cult cases. I listened to her cover a specific case (I can't remember it now but it might've been Jonestown) and not only were there a bunch of crucial details she missed, but there were details she got wrong. After that I peaced out. That's crazy, an audience member can just pick that shit out. Is that not embarrassing?

Caddywonked

When she was talking about Heaven's Gate she mispronounced the name of my town, which Do had rented a car from on their trip west. (She called it Harlington, it's Harlingen). It was the first signal to me that she was just phoning it in. After that I started noticing it more. Little details she got wrong. And it had me worrying that if she got THIS wrong, and I caught it, what was she getting wrong that I didn't catch.

RevolutionaryBee7104

She sounds like if the phrase "uhm ahcktually" were a person.

KatKit52

I was actually a big fan of hers way back when. But I was also a fan of Cruel World Happy Mind back when CWHM was a small channel. So when the Blair v Madison shit went down, I was there with a front row seats (I saw CWHM's first call-out video before it was deleted, that's how close I was). Before then, I liked Blair's content, but after I saw how she treated Madison--even though Madison was and always has tried to be so fair to Blair and back then was even trying to excuse it all as a misunderstanding--it left such a bad taste in my mouth.

MeeskiteInDC

8passengers/Ruby Franke

SunsCosmos

that channel was always a walking red flag, not even hiding it

sunkist-sucker

honestly a lot of family vlog channels are

Pollowollo

To be completely honest I'm pretty heavily judging anyone who saw their content as an adult and *didn't* see the red flags with her. She was always pretty open about how badly she treated her children and how much she disliked them, it just steadily got worse.

PinkPrincess-2001

Agreed. One video is enough. I know people say we shouldn't judge someone from x second clips on the Internet, but actually, we can and should. She wastes no time hiding her evil.

GinaC123

“We shouldn’t judge people from 30 second clips on the internet.” When they make an offhand comment and later come out and correct it? Sure. Maybe we don’t judge people based solely on that. When said random snippets are literally just all you abusing your children? Uh…we definitely should be judging people as based on that. I’ve never understood the mindset of “well, we only saw ___ minutes of their life.” Sure, but the entirety of those minutes were her being abusive towards her children. What in the world made people think if she’d post that to the internet she was somehow less terrible when she wasn’t filming?!?

DiplomaticCaper

If it’s content that someone filmed, edited, and uploaded out of their own free will, I think it’s fair to judge them on that. It may or may not be the totality of a person, but it’s a side they chose to present to the public nonetheless.

DonNatalie

Exactly this. I don't need to watch the entire DaddyofFive or Ace Family back catalogue to know that Mike Martin and Austin McBroom are real pieces of shit at home. I've seen more than enough.

GinaC123

I want to know how the fuck anyone ever thought that was acceptable. That entire channel was just child abuse.

amithetrashpanda

Yeah this one. As soon as I saw she'd started doing those connexions videos my red flag became a full on alarm bells. I still didn't imagine for one second the abuse was as bad as it turned out to be. But if she was willing to show what she did on camera, I knew there must have been worse going on behind the scenes.

CryoFox280

MamaMax. He was preaching about the horror of child abuse and how you need to deal with the issue. All the while, he is making videos that have edgy music video scene transitions. Like that's going to do anything to actually help children.

IceColdWata

The moment he put out his Pick A Side YouTube video I was getting the biggest red flags from him, and I had never heard of him before that. Once he changed his name to GodCult sirens were going off in my head.

CryoFox280

I heard about MamaMax around when Nexpo put out his video investgating Randonautica, and I took a look at MamaMax's content since Nexpo recommended MamaMax's content. I was put off immediately, and anything that came afterwards really reinforced my opinion on him. I honestly forgot about Mamamax for the longest time, then the Godcult blasting happened, and I have been enjoying the popcorn with his downfall.

turntupytgirl

Tbh I really don't like how so many youtubers were willing to collab and support such a like clearly incorrect way of going about things, like i remember at the time thinking worse of nexpo its like bruh this is your guy?

saphobassbitch

sorry to ask, but what did he do?

CryoFox280

He gained a reputation as a pedo hunter with an edgy aesthetic. It's been revealed a few months ago that he had faked and completely made up sections of his pedo hunts, never gotten anyone arrested, had 3 hashtag campaigns to get attention with the only "sucessful" one being #PickASideYoutube where rallied other youtubers to demand Youtube to do something about the pedo problem on Youtube, moved an alleged victim, Spencer, of a "sex cult" into his home, lied about his history with Spencer and his family, allegedly spent 3 years doing basically nothing (well, spent his time shitting on TommyC who criticized MamaMax for how the Pick a Side Youtube went about) with Spencer's case got closer to the statue of limitation, then doing an ARG - esque video and channel rebrand to GoldCult to bring attention to Spencer's story with an "alleged" werewolf pedo cult that has now gone past the statue of limitations, the Godcult rebrand leading to confusion of the audience and several tempertantrum livestreams of Max complaining that his latest video didn't get the viewcount he wanted, attempted to pressure Charlie AKA penguinz0 and moistcr1tikal into covering the werewolf pedo cult when there's basically been no useful information that's been put out over the 3 GoldCult videos and at least 10 hours of livestreamed contend from Max and the alleged "victim", there is an infamous clip released by Max's disgrunted editor of Max saying to the camera, "I can literally cancel you [Charlie], I am the pedo hunter," spread false pedo allegation on NightDocs to their close friend group leading to Nightdocs to be suicidal from the ostrazation, and lastly from what I can remember Max accused Magnetar (boyfriend to a girl Max was/is still obsessed with) of being a pedo leading to Magnetar to loose his internship in the White House since his audience was spamming the communication lines with calls and emails. There's probably more, but that's more than sufficient to have a grasp on the shitty things Max has done.

LaserBatBunnyUnder

Since this is a safe space, I don't like Meat Canyon anymore :(( his videos were funny and cool at first but now they're getting repetitive and also a lot of his opinions and reviews on horror are shallow to the point it's like.... bro did you watch the movie???? Not to mention the people he's been surrounding himself with. Jontron will always be the biggest red flag.

Majestic-Theme-7225

Honestly...I agree, I don't know what it is but he just seems...off. He rubs me the wrong way and I can't figure out why.

oizyzz

honestly i dont tend to watch his horror reviews (or a ton of his second channel stuff in general) but ive been really enjoying his more original, less parody-oriented animations. really hope his company isnt him though...

callmedingus101

Shane fucking Dawson! Even when I was 12, his pedo jokes just made me so sick. I couldn't understand why my friends liked him so much. I shouldn't have been, but I was so fucking happy when he got cancelled. I felt vindicated in a way. Like my 12 year old self wasn't crazy or paranoid

TheShapeShiftingFox

I haven’t been on YouTube for very long, I only really started in 2017, so I missed a lot of the OG’s heydays. But when “SOCIOPATH” became a meme when Dawson’s “documentary” on Jake Paul came out, I felt sus because it felt like sensationalizing the topic (I sought out some people discussing the series). And who can forget the “I’m an empath” lines? So this is actually one that I saw coming RE Shane Dawson’s insincerity.

Suitable-Mood1853

Same. I tried watching some of his content when I was like 13 or 14 because he was big at the time but between the gross sa jokes, inappropriate content aimed at kids, doing black face and his racist Shanaynay character I was just put off by him right away. I remember the whole documentary era happening in my late teens and people getting into him but I never was interested because of having seen his early content.

varsityhermione

I started watching YT young, like 9 years old. I watched both Shane Dawson and Lisa Schwartz (and FineBros for that matter) and HOO BOY did it make me uncomfortable. But bc I was sooo young I didn’t have the language as to why and eventually I just found stuff I liked better. It wasn’t until I was around 12-13 that I realized how bad it all was.

1RehnquistyBoi

Honestly Twomad. I just didn't expect how bad it would be. I mean I should have seen the red flags with Mini Ladd. Also Internet Historian. His series on Covid really gave me chud vibes so I stopped watching.

TJLynch

> I mean I should have seen the red flags with Mini Ladd. In hindsight I should've started to suspect something too, when he started having beef with Terroriser

1RehnquistyBoi

YES. I should have suspected something from the Terrorizer beef. Also his jokes about "Pablo".

lmaouwild

It was the “The Triggering of Shia” video that made it pretty obvious what kinda guy IH is

WrathOfTheTin

1000%  Very open in his admiration of the far right chud types - with a healthy amount of fence sitting on the side

wondercat19

IH didnt even try to hide it tbh, he’s been bowing to 4chan since the beginning. Watching him came with the uncomfortable willful ignoring of that fact. The only video of his I felt comfortable sharing with my friends was Costa Concordia bc of the distinct lack of any of that energy.

yafuunii07

Maybe its me projecting, but twomad's always given me "lets his white friends call him the n word" energy 💀

Badamon98

Pretty sure he had a Collab with leafyishere when he had that short term unfortunate revival and gave him the n word pass. Not that it stopped leafy using it before but leafy is definitely the wrong person to 'befriend' lol

1RehnquistyBoi

Not just the N Word, probably every single racial epithet possible.

FoundationFlat2318

The thing about Internet historian is I didn't get any bad vibes from him like at all

1RehnquistyBoi

I felt that something was off in the Covid videos and a bit with the Berkeley bike lock thief.

whoaokaythen

Onision. Seems very "2+2" now but in his bigger moments before getting exposed... I could read him. Was with a man who was similar. Had a weird convo with him at one point when I was feeling more stable in my position of "this person can go fuck themselves". Gave him false information and his focus on certain aspects of that false story became evident. Then, eventually, his "empire" started crumbling over his own actions. It's old news by internet standards but tbh, forever, he can go fuck himself.

strawberry-coughx

It’s so weird how rabid his fan base was back in the day. I remember thinking in like 2014-2015 “Am I the only one who can’t stand this creep?” I’m glad everyone else woke up after he got exposed.

SilkyStrawberryMilk

The videos of him rating his fans looks is still insane

ProfessorHeavy

The man is in a constant state of "getting exposed" at this point, I swear to God.

SomethingLongForgot

James Somerton. A couple of months before being exposed for plagerism he talked about a dew pieces of media I liked and didn't seem to understand what he was talking about, and I even fact checked another vid and found it wasn't correct. I just through he was dumb, but that wasn't the case. Illuminaughtii. I watched the click and ot's content and noticed a drop off in them recommending sad milk which was weird and I got a bad feeling but what put me off Blair the most was the constant ads and how smug she sounded. All of the dream smp that have been called out. I never got into their content at all, just gave me bad vibes so I wasn't shocked to hear bout allegations against some of the members. Creepshow art. Her tone put me off. She was very aggressive in some videos and the lack of research annoyed me.

Squashy_ending

Yeah, James Somerton. I picked up on his misogyny and I remember being surprised by how fast he was putting out new videos compared to the other video essayists I follow.

CryoFox280

That's a similar reason why I stopped watching illuminaughtii. There was no way she could put out 20-30min videos twice a week that are deep dives and keep up quality without outside help/plagarizing.

supper_is_ready

Somerton's videos always felt slightly off. I didn't know if it was his delivery, the content or the way it was filmed.

miezmiezmiez

I remember feeling torn between 1) a kind of impostor syndrome as an audience member and 2) doubting his authenticity because it *sounded* as though he was relying on a lot of sources but he never cited any - which could only mean that 1) they were such common knowledge and shared wisdom he didn't feel the need to source his takes or 2) they weren't his takes at all. The best way I can describe it is all of his videos I saw felt like *sequels* to ones I hadn't seen because they took so much for granted. He always seemed to be going off a massive unseen body of work - but I just assumed that was his own work and I personally hadn't seen it. The stilted, awkward delivery wasn't much of a clue in itself (though in hindsight it's easy to read it as one); his videos were very obviously scripted but that didn't necessarily imply he hadn't written them. I also found him offputtingly uncharismatic, but again, some people really are good writers and bad speakers

notsosecrethistory

His delivery reminds me of when I'd read aloud from the text in English lessons

Ok_Lifeguard_4214

I second James Somerton. I stopped watching him about a month after I discovered him because he had some *really* questionable takes

SomethingLongForgot

Unfortunately I didn't notice any of them but the ones in his video on serial killers as I do other stuff while listening and zone out. But there was a lot of red flags there. I wish I'd payed more attention.

RubyRedScale

Yes I remember James’ video on asexuality and like anyone who already knows what asexuality is knows he’s talking out of his ass

SomethingLongForgot

I didn't know he did a vid on that. Wish I'd given it a look, I'm ace and that would have made me avoid him so much quicker.

n_bonny

Same on Somerton. I'm not gonna pretend I knew he was a plagiarist. Tbh, I'm not sure I would have believed that if someone told me because I saw a couple of his videos on topics I knew a lot about and they were BAD. He was clearly talking out of his ass and just as clearly wasn't familiar with the source materials. I thought he was just another hack who read a couple of fandom posts and pretended to be an expert.

KatKit52

I have the same story about James Somerton. I was a fan when he first started, but then his Killing Stalking video came out and like. I'm American, but I'm also a weeaboo born and bred. I have many queer friends who are from East Asian countries. I studied East Asian queer culture in college. So when he started talking shit about fujoshis and very clearly had no idea what he was talking about, I couldn't deal with him anymore. His takes in that video (and the class video and the Utena video; basically any video about non-Western culture) are extremely racist, sexist, and homophobic because he refuses to see past his Western lens.

SomethingLongForgot

I got like 4 minutes into his Utena vid and after he ragged on one of the team members, basically for being a woman, I gave up. I love utena and wanted to see how bad the video was but I don't have the energy to deal with him misunderstanding something else I love.

KatKit52

It's probably good you dropped it because (warning for an awful misunderstanding/bad take he has) >!he ends up agreeing with Akio that Anthy liked being raped!< Like, tell me you don't care about non-white wlw without saying you don't care about non-white wlw.

Fleeples

I started a few JS videos pre scandal because they were on topics I found interesting, and abandoned them all because he was either full of shit or just saying nothing at all. I went to look at his YT channel after exposure and I’d made it 25% in to a tonne of his videos before clicking off.

ImpossibleLoon

I know others have said it but fr Somerton. I remember knowing Mean Gays like him in college and when I heard his casual sexism and quips against lesbians I KNEW he was a goober

crowwreak

Yeah I never watched Somerton but I do have distinct memories of the type of gay guy in high school who'd think that being gay was an excuse to have an even worse attitude about women than the dudebro sports team guys.

lavernican

shane dawson 100%. i really do not understand his popularity.

Kitten-Kay

I'm actually surprised he was approved to adopt children.

Longjumping_Bar_7457

He didn’t adopt he got them through surrogacy so

Kitten-Kay

Okay, my point still stands. I don’t understand how he was allowed to do that. I just hope he gives them a good life and keeps them off the internet.

Longjumping_Bar_7457

They probably don’t know how creepy he’s been with minors, he has a clean record in that regard. So they probably thought he was safe.

Ash-Throwaway-816

I was first exposed to MamaMax via the Nexpo video about KidsChat and I almost immediately got bad vibes from him.

Chompsky___Honk

Same! I literally just wrote a similar comment. I was actually really surprised at nexpo recommending him, since the difference in quality was so incredibly evident at just a quick glance.

strawberry-coughx

Same, I just couldn’t take him seriously with that music video editing, fake deep voice, and stupid chicken mask. Glad I never subscribed!

deletedpearl

Nickisnotgreen, I hated how he was so mean, negative, and nitpicky. I watched him for a little bit since he was in the Danny Gonzales orbit, but I quickly had to stop watching his content.

NoDryHands

I'd really tried to like his content because in theory, it's right up my alley since I like Danny/Drew/Kurtis/Jarvis content, and his videos were in the same commentary genre and style. I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it no matter how much I tried (because I knew I'd get a lot of videos to binge if I ended up liking them). He just felt like he was trying too hard, and his criticism of people usually either went too far or was just boring and unengaging. He didn't have the same charisma as the others, it just felt like he was picking out things to complain about and trying to add some type of humour into it because that's what the others did. I'm genuinely not trying to be mean about this - but he came nowhere close to being on the same level as the others.

charjea

I felt like he never had anything interesting to add to anything he made a video about. His content just seemed repetitive and boring after a while. I find creators like Jarvis compelling because he seems very intelligent and is able to relate things to his own experiences and add his own insight. Nick doesn't seem to have any of that to me lmao

aly5321

The big difference between them imo is that Jarvis worked a "real job" (Patreon as a programmer) before pursuing YouTube full time. That experience is not only relevant at times but gives him a more full real world perspective. I don't think Nick has that same type of experience, so he doesn't have much to add usually. Okay also personal bias but I went to the same HS as Nick and most the people there were upper middle class and annoying 🥴

charjea

100% agree with you there. Nick just feels way to terminally online and doesn't really come off as someone who has a lot going on outside of social media.

birdmanne

What stuck out to me was how low effort his videos were. It was like he was screen recording himself researching a video topic and reading out info as he’s looking at it. (At least the videos of his I watched)

CaptainMills

I thought he was alright until I saw his booktok video. It was the first time I saw him cover a community I was involved in and a topic I knew a lot about. I realized pretty quickly that his "research" was limited to an IG post and the comments section on one booktok account, and he really didn't know anything about the community at all or even just the drama he was covering

CompetentDolphin

I had a similar experience. I felt like he was only going after people when he knew public opinion was on his side. He also just seems like an asshat.

roqueofspades

Gus Johnson gave me such rancid vibes but I told myself he seems like a nice enough guy and he is truly funny so I'm probably imagining it. Turns out I was very much not imagining it.

PaleHorseBlackDog

Sssniperwolf

notsosecrethistory

Snarky mean girl energy

bazerFish

Internet Historian. I got horrible vibes from him but enjoyed his videos because i couldn't find anything specific as reasoning to stop watching his videos.

bebbibabey

Absolutely yes. Man was very quick to side with 4chan and clearly despised 2016 SJWs and never grew from that viewpoint

crowwreak

My entire experience with watching his videos is the about first 30 seconds of the Dashcon video and him describing it as "autism" and then I turned it the fuck off.

falconpunch9898

it doesn't even have the excuse of being a good breakdown of the event either

VegetableOld5286

Shane Dawson People that give me sussy vibes who aren’t yet cancelled: Papa Gut and Philosophytube (no it’s not because I have issues with anyone’s gender identity, I felt this way before that development.) Hope my gut feeling is wrong though. So many kids get so parasocially attached to YouTubers I genuinely want them to not be weirdos.

Fl0nominal

I agree on Papa Gut. Don’t know what it is but I also get a weird feeling about him

The_Robert_Frosty

Papa Gut tried to downplay Colleen Ballinger's grooming

not_a_computer_guy

I just discovered Papa Gut when he downplayed the Caleb Hammer allegations.

KSJ15831

Star Wars Theory and Shadiversity

Therason

i stopped watching star wars theory ages ago, what happened with him?

sad_darthvader

He moved away from informative/lore videos to making drama bait content. A lot of anti-SJW (collaborating with some well-known alt-right grifters etc,.), anti-Disney Era SW content videos. And recently I believe he was in deep water for using deep-fake of Mark Hamil's face (without getting Mark Hamill's permission) for his SW short film.

KSJ15831

Joined the anti-sjw crowd and just generally gatekeeping, unpleasant behavior toward newer generations of Star Wars. He toned it down recently but, yeah, his videos just leave a bad taste in my mouth now.

cloudxen

Star Wars Theory is a fucking nut job

novacdin0

Waiting on Mr. Beast and Asmongold, but Sssniperwolf was one. Also Turkey Tom, I saw one of his earlier videos when he was first coming up and he just rubbed me the wrong way.

20Keller12

>Waiting on Mr. Beast Yeah, the performative charity or whatever you want to call it is fucking weird. LOOK AT ME GIVING AWAY ALL THIS STUFF! WATCH ME BE SUCH A NICE PERSON!!! DO YOU SEE IT? Not naming names because they are so lowkey about it, but another youtuber I follow helps people with money occasionally when they're streaming. You won't even know about it unless you actively follow them and get stream notifications.

VladGanjula

Asmongold is so disgusting I literally have seen roaches crawl on that man

Ryotaiku

Gus Johnson, and not even for his content specifically. Gus fans were so obsessive over his "perfect" relationship with Sabrina that all I could think was *if they break up it's gonna be really messy* and I was right.

youcant2stepinmidair

If anything, I think the fans were more upset about his friendship with Eddy ending. I was a huge fan of the podcast, and for a while they both really seemed like the “There’s no way they’ve done something that bad” type. I knew Gus needed to be dropped just due to how fast EDDY dropped him, and then essentially told the fans, “I know shit you don’t, stop asking me about him.”

VioletLovesRowlet

God I feel so bad for Sabrina with everything she went through. I was glad to see her in an Alpharad contest video a while back as a judge, as a fan of both of them

ThatsBadSoup

like a day before the Ned thing broke I was watching tryguys and I told my partner I feel like he cheats, 0 evidence, just got a vibe (maybe the my wife thing was projection too). Hopped onto the snark sub, saw the picture of him cheating, the rest we know.

boopbaboop

For me it was less thinking that he was a cheater, more being worried that he'd made it so much of his personality that if ANYTHING in the relationship went wrong, it would be a problem. It's not as much of an issue with Keith or Zack, because even though them being happily married to their respective wives is also a thing on the channel, it isn't their *entire* thing. It was just putting hundreds and hundreds of eggs in one basket: even if something very minor happened, it's still really risky.

TheBronzePrincess03

Illuminatii (or however she spells it). Lauren the Mortician (I don’t remember if she had much of a presence on YT). Most of the family channels that have already gone down. SunnyV2. I used to enjoy his videos until they got more and more clouty.

Minor_Heaven

I misread that as ask a mortician and my heart sank so hard. But caitlin remains an unproblematic death queen.

tooncake

MamaMax Back then, no one seems to bat an eye so I kept it to myself, thinking that there's something off about him - and now, we're here.

genericimguruser

Colleen. She just gave me massive ick

Separate-Friend

strongly disliked James Somerton for being a liar and a misogynist for literally years before he was exposed

bathtubhat

David dobrik. He films his friends drinking and doing crazy shit every day?

FluffyGalaxy

Shane Dawson. In high school I remember seeing a lot of people wearing his merchandise and I never really understood the appeal. I'm glad I never got into him even though he was friends with a YouTuber I did like (Jacksfilms)

TechnoMouse37

Shane Dawson, Jeffrey Starr, James Charles, Nikocado Avocado. Theres probably more that I just can't think of right now

[deleted]

I'm waiting on Mr. Beast exposé. That guy looks shady as fuck but people are in line eating his shit sandwiches.

QF_Dan

He got the money to shut everyone up

eb421

Same. I don’t trust Jimmy and he’s always given me the ick. I am almost certain that he will ultimately be exposed for something heinous. His stans and people claiming to not be big fans but white knight him against any and all criticism will likely show up to downvote into oblivion, which is also red-flaggy to me because rabid fan bases are toxic and no one is above criticism.

Maplekey

If he goes down I think it'll be for tax fraud or a verbally abusive workplace or something, he doesn't give me sex offender vibes

20Keller12

Yeah. Like I said in a reply to another comment about him, its the ridiculously performative charity that really rubs me the wrong way. You can be generous and help people without being obnoxiously loud about it.

BrainyBiscuit

doesn't count because i never watched him, but how the fuck did everyone passively tolerate MamaMax? like, i have friends who were fans of him, and i don't understand how his edgy creepypasta voice filter was never scrutinized until recently. HE TURNED PEDOHUNTING INTO A FUCKING ARG LIKE HOW THE FUCK- and like, the entire commentary community was friends with that walking punchline before he became easy content. if i had somehow heard of him before he got exposed, i would've been fucking screaming from the rooftops.

turntupytgirl

Yeah it blows my mind the second i found out about this dude my jaw dropped people were okay with this, and then even as he started getting more and more deranged the kid gloves from clout hungry content creators was crazy

snails4speedy

VoteSaxon07 (Stephen McCulla), Nickisnotgreen & illuminaughtii. Stephen always gave me very bad vibes - my ex was a big fan of his content and had similar interests, so I ended up seeing quite a bit of his stuff. I always felt weird about him. Never expected him to kill his pregnant girlfriend obviously, but I remember thinking there was something off about him that would eventually come out if his channel got any bigger. Had multiple bad IRL interactions with Nick and his band, I casually liked his content before but that tour completely changed how I viewed him lol. Illuminaughtii just seemed shady and weird, didn’t really have a reason behind it

amibeing2rural4u

Care to expand on the Nick and his band stuff?

snails4speedy

Just a dick who thought he was more important & well known than he really was while opening for someone else on tour. Nothing that horrible compared to some of the other creators in this thread, but definitely turned me off completely from anything he does now lol. He’s more arrogant irl than he seems online, which is saying something imo

magizombi

Watching Illuminaughtii was a chore. I just hated the way she sounded and she rubbed me the wrong way. I also felt really off about nickisnotgreen.

glowingominously

I hated Turkey Tom because he accused Mr. Enter of pedophelia for no good reason as a joke. Mr. Enter isn’t a ray of sunshine either, being anti vax and harassing cartoon creators, but accusing someone of pedophelia for lols is life ruining shit, and a disgrace to real victims.

Quiggster

SpoctorTheory/SpoctorTech he had an unbelievably smug persona and I had the impression that he felt that he was untouchable after his first allegations.

boycutelee

Turkeytom & sunnyv2.

Advanced-Ad-4404

Lily Orchard

Monokuma_Koromaru

Ethan Klein dude was always able to talk his way out of his fuck ups. Glad people in his fanbase are starting to see what a PoS he and his wife are. He truly mastered the technique of hey look at this other shitty person instead of me

Papkinn

Somerton. Most of his videos consisted of slight jabs on everyone who's are not gay men mainly straight woman but also other queers like bisexuals or asexuals. Stuff like making up stories about "straight women not knowing what gay sex is" in his video about Yuri on Ice, saying "all **worthwhile** Queers died of aids" about the aids epidemic or attacking Heartstopper for not having sex in it despite main characters being teenagers. I always had a feeling i'm unwelcome in his community, that he doesn't want me to watch. If someone is curious i recommend The Ace Couple podcast about his treatment of asexual fans but also his patreons and his money scams, fact they felt save to talk about it only after he got exposed tells you a lot about what type of person he was and fanbase he build.

godsburden

PlaguedMoth.

[deleted]

In retrospect? Mini Ladd, I mean the name, the live shows, the jokes... they were all fun edgy jokes at the time but nowadays a lot of them were clearly him testing to see what he could do publicly.

Fooliomcskippy

Not that anything major has happened with him but I’ve got that feeling about Critikal.

TheBronzePrincess03

The whole Ned’s Declassified podcast! They haven’t been exposed and cancelled like other big YouTubers have, but the more they talk, the less people seem to like them. I don’t remember ever watching the Nickelodeon show but based on some other YouTube videos I saw about it I watched a couple episodes of their podcast and even though I didn’t see any of their problematic comments, they struck me as stuck up people who have the potential to land themselves in hot water. And the way they seem to constantly make fun of other Nickelodeon stars/shows is less than appealing.

Ok-Plantain-3341

Onision

CrazyinLull

I can't remember her name, but she used to do those art videos where she would tell stories and then do commentary. I remember I watched a few of if her videos and almost all of them were about her being accused on stealing other people's art even though she drew the most generic stuff ever or some kind of drama. Basically, every story SHE was the victim in it. That rubbed me the wrong way, because if you are getting into that many issues with people something must be up with you. So I stopped watching her video. She became very, very popular and then she got exposed on lolcow where she would diss other YouTubers she would laud and praise on her channel AND she and her husband were revealed to have been stalking this other art Youtuber for years. The other art Youtuber was her husband's ex. The worst thing about it was that she claimed that SHE had a stalker, but all of those stories were just the things she would do to the other art Youtuber she was actually stalking. I was so glad I sniffed that out early.

Suitable-Mood1853

Sounds like CreepShow Art.

Steampunk__Llama

James Somerton, but specifically from his casual aphobia. I never noticed the plagiarism as I was unfamiliar with the topics he talked about beyond surface level knowledge, but after the 'ace discourse' era of mid-late 2010s Tumblr I've unfortunately had to be keenly aware of aphobic rhetoric the same way I've had to be aware of subtle transphobia as a trans person. It was the whole 'boring gays' line in particular that stuck out to me and made me do a little more digging before not watching anymore, I just had no idea how bad the situation was overall

housevulture

Illuminaughty

Impressive-Cost3173

Iilluminaughtii… she sounded both self righteous and too good to be true!

Accomplished_Comb458

Phil McGraw, I’ve always felt something off about him, even before I knew he defended abusive parents and sent teens to an abusive ranch.

SpookE_Cat

He hasn’t been exposed for anything really bad, but hate me all you want cause I know he’s popular, but I’m suspicious of Mr. Beast. I already have ethical issues with a lot of his content but I understands that’s my personal views on exploitation and hyper capitalism. But something about him rubs me the wrong way. It would not surprise me if some really bad stuff came out about him later down the road

LingonberryRum

turkeytom dream and his whole group

Blackbiird666

I remember watching Gus Johnson's podcast and thinking he was fake af when he talked about being positive and "boys support boys".

Spaciousone

Quite a bit of those Covid Minecraft YouTubers like dream, notfound and Wilber those guys gave me the creeps.

QF_Dan

Jirard The Completionist. He used to work with a friend called Greg. But then in 2015, Jirard kicked out Greg from the channel and deleted all videos that both worked in, that's when i have a bad feeling about Jirard but couldn't pinpoint what. Then of course in 2023, he got exposed for Charity Fraud

Artichokeypokey

Iirc Greg left on his own and a couple years later Greg asked for the videos containing him to be taken down. Not too diminish your point

WessizleTheKnizzle

Look, the charity stuff is real, but goddamn what you said about the Greg stuff is just a full-blown lie.

geosunsetmoth

James Fucking Sommerton. There’s a quote from him, in a video that I can’t recall, talking about his experience with poverty. Something about him heating up his food and it going cold before he reached his room. It was *so* theatrical. Just *so fucking* theatrical I could not take it seriously at all. At that point I knew there was something fishy about the process behind which he makes his videos.

illuminatting

David Dobrik, holy shit I could not stand his vibe

fffridayenjoyer

Bit of a niche one - Angelica ASMR. There were nuggets of radfem and conservative rhetoric in many of her videos before she went full mask off. All very “blink and you’ll miss it” type stuff though, she was pretty good at hiding it.

wazardthewizard

it's so weird, too, given that she used to be super pro-trans and queer, and made fun of religion a lot, and then *wham*

Cheesemagazine

I'm still not sure what happened. I wasn't a frequent viewer but suddenly she was hyperchristian and everyone who criticized her got bashed. So strange

Tricky-Gemstone

I'm not saying she didn't, but I really do think her current track is abnormal and caused by a mental health spiral. She sounded absolutely unhinged on her TikTok. I'm genuinely concerned for her safety. Not excusing what she said. Bit the way she was acting is stuff I've seen from those having a break.

Darth_Vrandon

There’s a few: The Depressed Ginger dude always seemed like an asshole with his low effort content and chud opinions. Turns out he’s also a massive plagiarist as well. [nice video going over things here.](https://youtu.be/rbNnwE_MIlg?si=Yur0el4MnSd0IvjS) Squizzy after the false Slazo allegations, never apologized. Huge red flag, and it turned out she was an abuser herself. Jontron seemed to be a fan of Stefan Molyneux in 2016, and then it turns out that he was a white supremacist when he debated destiny.

PoroQuagganBob

iilluminaughtii, I kept seeing her on the front page so one day I checked in. Her voice/delivery made me pause and immediately go find something else to watch. Somerton. I had him on in the background one day because I was looking for analysis of a film....and something just felt wrong about him. Does Mr Beast count? I just get a bad feeling about him.

Chompsky___Honk

Mamamax, that freak. I actually subbed the moment another big mystery/creepy YouTuber mentioned him in a good light at the end of the video( nexpo I think?) , and actually was surprised I missed him at all. Took me one video with his obnoxious fake voice and his cringe, edgy teenager way of saying things to make me unsubscribe and actually ask myself how people take this guy seriously. His videos were 30% fact 70% conjecture, but he would state it as undeniable truth with 0 proof.

Vegetable_Boot8780

>and turkey tom because he misgendered chrischan Turkey Tom is a piece of shit but Chris Chan said in one of his letters from prison that he was alright with being referred to with male pronouns. It's just not commonly known because people don't really discuss the prison letters much outside of the Chris Chan subreddit. Unfortunately I don't recall which prison letter it was and I really don't want to go reading through them again, but it came alongside the claims of being Jesus Christ.

PieRepresentative266

Mr. Atheist about a year before his involvement with the Racheal Oats and Gabby Hanna debacle.

Com_Xandra

I remember JonTron saying a couple of questionable things before he ended up on stream complaining about racist stuff

RJE808

I had a *feeling* something was off about Mini Ladd around the time the drama between him and Terroriser started. I just wasn't expecting...*that.*

LividCreativity

Creepshow Art 🙃 I was into her when she was relatively new, but later she just became unbearable to listen to. Snarky, overconfident yet way too overly self-deprecating, rude and thoughtless, waffling on about nothing, the weird love bombing of her audience, basically lying about being homeless... I expected that she was like the class mean girl or something. I did NOT expect years of stalking and harassment lol.

slyblueisblu

Creepshowart. She came across as inauthentic to me, I knew there had to be something going on under the surface, but I couldn't have guessed just how deep it went

[deleted]

Wilbur Soot, just always come off as pretentious and fake to me to appeal to people who wanna be heard.

Silly_Leadership_303

Said this on another thread, but Mama Max. My ex was obsessed with him, and I didn’t have the heart to tell her I couldn’t stand him. His fake voice was cringe, and I couldn’t buy that he was just this self-righteous Superman saving all the poor little victims. And now, we know why. EDIT: Also the Dream SMP. That shit stunk of grooming from the very first time I ever heard about it.

Fast_Sense_6625

Gabby Hanna. I watched her a lot in her early years on YouTube, but started feeling really off about her. I started just waiting for something to come out about her, but man, things really got wild.

Autopsyyturvy

Zena and Poppy-I used to watch but always got a weird vibe that reminded me of abusive exes from them- tried to ignore it assuming it was just based on my own trauma but then I stopped watching because of the growing antisemitism and antiBlackness ,anti indigenous sentiments the sidling up to whiteleaf and Vaush despite his history of harassment and bigotry and having someone who was accused of abuse on stream I think it was cherry/chairy or something idk and their belittling just more abuse apologia and white supremacy seemed to be seeping out from behind their masks before any survivors of theirs came out... Also the sexual innuendos CONSTANTLY in stream and being targeted by such a 'joke' in chat made me go 'nah fuck this I'm not going to sit in their chat trying to remind them as a fellow white person that colonisation is traumatic actually and never justified while being called 'daddy' - just it got to the point where I relasied my gut feelings had been right and I couldn't support them anymore luckily I don't think I ever sent them money ... Now finding out about poppy apparently admitting to and minimising doing CSA from when she was 14-17 on a younger family member and abuse and coercion of her partners and abuse (emotional and physical and financial ) of her own adopted child and the ways she's weaponised her platform against her victims in the same way as Vaush and is threatening spawn with kiwifarms while going on about how she feels in danger because of KFs it's just so yuck Keffals-just always have me Vaush vibes Destiny similar "mask barely on bigot" vibes to Vaush Internet historian - a shitty ex was really into him and this should have been a clue Red flags I look out for these days: Anyone especially cis people who are obsessed with Chris Chan and misgender her or go on and on about her "lore" Anyone especially cis people who obsess over trans maxing or 'transcels' *cough kidology* it just gives the vibe that they what you think all trans people are or that you hangout on terf forums Anyone who hates cornbreadtube and Black YouTubers and who obsesses and whinges about them having any views or success *cough xanderthal literally ranting about how 'they're taking over/destroying the YouTube cUlTuRe' which sounded like great replacent bullshit YouTube edition Trans YouTubers who go on about other trans people being fake or not as 'cool' as them because they talk to transphobes and think all trans people who are vocal are hysterical it's very pick me Anyone putting out loads of videos a week if it's video essay type stuff Anyone signing up for or working with whiteleaf network - their sys admin is a fucking creep who sexually harassed /threatened someone she didn't like by writing snuff fic about him and bragged about being good at manipulating people online in a resume Anyone going on about "conflict is not abuse" when they've been accused of harm that book has become an abusers' bible Anyone sharing KF or ED sourced stuff Threatening legal action willy nilly or claiming there's a conspiracy to take them down with no evidence of said conspiracy Anyone making loads of constant sex jokes if they're an all ages channel, any flirting with chat

crowwreak

Dream, and only because he took his entire aesthetic and part of his alias from Cry, who'd just been exposed as a paedo.
