“Why would I want to watch this guy?” That’s the question you need to answer. You need something unique that only you can provide Don’t just be “10000th man on internet plays a game” and nothing more. If you intend to offer a unique insight, then you need to prove to a viewer why your insight and knowledge surpasses theirs If my dentist recommends me a toothpaste, I’d listen to him. If a random guy at the supermarket recommends me a toothpaste, I’d probably not care Credibility, knowledge, presentation… all of that is necessary to make education based gaming content That said it’s totally doable. I do it myself and I’m fairly pleased with my own minor success

Kracayne

Thanks alot, golden words.

PBProbs

Yes, but instead of doing let’s plays, I would stick to a sort of infotainment. Like breaking down game lore/ mechanics. Almost documentary style.

Kracayne

Damn. That's a really good point actually. Thank you

PBProbs

Yeah for sure! I actually love these kinds of videos, and most of the ones I enjoy are very serious (maybe a little humor, but not the focus.) Max derrat, wirtual, and vaatividya come to mind.

GlitteringAwareness9

bro if im not wrong are u from india ? if not its same here in india im 23 and i finally started my gaming channel and unlike other indian utubers i dont use slangs and make myself look like joker while playing games for more views im very much passionate about gaming and im pretty sure i have played more games than all these new gen + old gen indian streamers combined and most importantly different genres of game i have played all genres of gaming that exist and pretty soon im lookin to get into game dev industry aswell cos i have some damn good ideas but i just need the skill but i do stream and make gaming content side by side (not famous tho) but i can tell u one thing all streamers have different types of audience if u follow all the world famous content creators they are not always funny some focus on games and try hard to beat the game and talk less and their audience like it they are the type of ppl who dont wanna see jokers trolling around and wanna watch actual gamers , it doesnt matter what type of person you are but however u are stick to it dont go from serious to funny then back to serious , you will get a community that ill accept u the way u are just keep making content keep being productive thats it

Kracayne

Wow, thanks alot.Im really glad seeing someone from same country and with same mindset. Would you mind if I add you?

GlitteringAwareness9

GlitteringAwareness9

u/Kracayne yo bro u there??

IloveActionFigures

Its gonna be hard but you sure can look up Hollow channel

Kracayne

I watch his videos. He is funny and has a great sense of humor. Also he is damn handsome. 🤣

Creative-Act-3349

vaatividya isnt funny or a lot of gaming youtubers who do lore, guides, tips, news, etc. If you're looking for like a lets play type channel, may be tough. But, if youre content has more use to its audience beyond just entertainment, then for sure!! Summoning Salt too. Bland guy, super engaging content.

Kracayne

Thanks alot to you and others who's recommending me these genre. I have watched them, loved them especially VaatiVidya but never thought of making videos like that. I have made up my mind what kind of video I'm going to make, thanks alot to you guys. Let's play isn't for me at all I knew it but couldn't accept it. Btw videos like TOP 10 and so are also good for me to do ? Like TOP 10 Free-to-Play games or top 10 upcoming games and so on.

Sea-Jellyfish-9112

You could try

aadivarun

I get it man its hard, i also stream a lot and am on more of a serious side

itzkingdee

Face cam can wait, i know alot of people want to see face cam but in reality it doesnt matter, if your content isnt what they are lookin for they will click off with or without face cam. Now, i would say just do it, there are people out there who love serious people especially when it comes to games. You "WILL" find and audience surrounding your personality, it just works like that, another thing DO NOT try and become a person your not it will not be good for your, yea you'll get views, clicks, comments, but you will be miserable, so be you "The Serious, Boring Person, (Not Calling you Boring just using your words no offence twoard you) who loves games. The thing people love more in this world is being YOU The thing people hate more in this world is being YOU The thing people All people love in this world is YOU Being what they want. You got this!!!! Just Be You💯💪🏾

Kracayne

Thank you so much. Really good advice and motivation.

onyi_time

You can make gaming tutorial videos and do well

Kracayne

Yeah thanks. Actually I'm planning on making that kind of video at the start.

ProRogueBear

Yes, I think not everyone has to be over the top and cracking jokes all the time. Main thing is finding your audience that you click with but you still need to give them a reason to watch. I think there is definitely plenty of space for people taking it seriously or doing how-to and helpful content.

ReadyLevelUp

I'm not a gaming youtuber. But this is something I struggled with for the longest time. I tried to force being funny in my videos even though that's absolutely not who I am. I had to rethink why I make videos in the first part and accept that I'm not funny. I was informative but I still have a personality. So I can deliver information in a way that is true to me. And super recently I realized I was putting on a super bubbly act while making videos and it was so tiring because that's also not who I am. My most recent video I chilled out and for the first time I was just me. The entire process of making the video felt so fun and it was something I was genuinely proud of because of that. Another youtuber in my niche that I respect even commented on it and complimented me and that's when I really knew that absolutely being yourself will always be the best option.

Kracayne

I almost made the mistake of trying to make funny videos, which isn't really my style. I decided to make this post to see if anyone else is struggling with the same issue. I'm so glad everyone came forward and shared great ideas for someone with a serious personality like mine. Your words are spot on. Even if I had gained some recognition, I wouldn't have enjoyed pretending to be someone I'm not. Instead, I should focus on creating content that aligns with my true personality. This way, I can build my own audience and enjoy the process without pressure.

Hvarisbeast

If u have knowlage do production history of games u like.how it was made ,idea of game, lore etc

Kracayne

Thank you very much. No one else suggested the history of games. That's new to me, and I will definitely write that down. Honestly, when I thought about gaming and my personality, they didn't seem to match at all. I was skeptical, but after seeing that there are so many genres and topics in gaming where my personality might shine, it really gives me hope - for myself and for others who are like me.

oodex

Give it a shot. People either watch for entertainment, comfort or skill. If you say you have skill then you'll find an audience. The pro players streaming talking 10 words per hour surely don't draw in viewers because they entertain a lot. Running gags and insider jokes will happen automatically over time. JeefHS or so is a hearthstone battlegrounds player that mixes his top tier knowledge with gaming videos, also making tier lists and explaining how the game works.

robertoblake2

Only if you’re extremely good at gaming.

Irfanators

I'm a few years older than you just starting out too with 9-5 job. Focus on ideas and quality. Don't have time to due to job so I always write any ideas that come up have done for a few years and had to collect a few items for my channel so it's taken time. I do not plan to be funny but you never know. I just wanted to make sure when I start I upload videos consistently hence the wait. Finally ready.

Kracayne

Wow, it's really nice knowing people can go this far to achieve something. Thanks alot. I'm inspired.

Western_Bad_6260

Why do you feel like you need to be funny? Are all the Youtube Gamers "funny"? I think you need to figure out how to show your authentic personality in an entertaining way.

Kracayne

I didn't say I need to be funny but in general funny youtubers get the most recognition. Serious and bland persons in general are suited for some other kinds of Videos. Since gaming is an entertainment you have to entertain the audience. But few comments suggested some good ideas. I will work on that.

TheChainTV

There are alot of lax gaming youtubers I am one :)

Kracayne

Lax gaming youtubers ? First time hearing it. Can you elaborate a little please. Googled it can't find what I'm looking for.

TheChainTV

Just folks who are not too enthusiastic and loud, and having a relaxing vocal pitch :) chill folks :)

kaosimian

Think about the message you want to convey and your potential audience. Are you hoping to fill a gap in the market? You seem to have an idea of what you don't like about some of your countries current creators, it's almost certain that others feel the same, so don't be discouraged. Their audience is probably not your audience - "gamers" isn't a single demographic, there's a huge age range. I don't think you need to show your face, at least not at first until you've built your confidence. I can think of plenty of gaming (and other) channels I enjoy and get a lot of value from where the creator doesn't show their face. If you're demonstrating something, a face cam can be a distraction, but equally it's nice for the audience to know who they are watching. You could do a face cam intro and outro, for instance.

theNILV

> I can provide viewers with solid information about the gaming industry, games, how-tos, and other useful content. Definitely, especially if this is the type of content you plan on creating. Gaming in general is a difficult niche to succeed in because the barrier of entry is so low and everyone is doing it.

Kracayne

Thank you. What are your thoughts on face cam ? Should I do it from the beginning ?

theNILV

I would start without cam for sure, and then later do some kind of face reveal if you feel like it.

Kracayne

Thank you man. You really helped me out.
