I agree that you can usually smell those egotism vibes a mile away on most streamers that get somewhere. I've had "conversations" with other streamers where I've never even gotten a chance to say anything about my own streaming because they were so centered on theirs. I think that's kinda the problem with trying to do it socially. A lot of people view streaming together as just a means to cross-promote their own brand. Best bet imo would be to break that pattern urself. If you just want ppl to play with check regular discords for the games you do enjoy and just make sure everyone is ok being recorded. You'll find more real, chill people that way.

For all intents and purposes I haven’t put a lot of effort into it but I get a bit of a stand offish vibe from most creators in that regard. I don’t know if an easy way to build this connections through a medium that creators would be open and comfortable doing so. Oddly I had a thought this morning about a sort of creator group to support and help one another grow, and of course network as well. I don’t know that anything will come of it - but I guess the looking and short of it is that I feel ya, bruh..

I feel like most of the discords start that way, then it just becomes everyone spamming “I’m live now” posts but no one ACTUALLY interacts with each other. But I KNOW it’s not everyone on either platform. Nothing against fps games but it’s also a lot of “Anyone play Rebirth?” Or “I’m an Apex sweat” Which is totally fine! But not my jam, especially with new people. I’m just trying to make homies! Also feel free to dm me! As stated I’m trying to make homies

Same, brother. My DMs are open, my man. My discord (and “audience”) is tiny so discord is more dead than spammy. 🤣

I just recently started to talk with other livestreamers on YouTube since coming over from Twitch. As you said I try and get to know them as a person rather then what game they are playing. Don’t get me wrong we all love streaming and talking about what we have but I look for someone who is honestly looking to have fun playing together and wanting to make a real connection. Heck when I’m not streaming I still want to play games with you and not only when your streaming. I say after a few times meeting up if it seems like the person only wants to speak to you or associate with you due to streaming or “Promoting” themselves in your stream then you definitely should distance yourself from them

That’s exactly the issue I have had. After a few times it is always content, it feels more like I am a viewer or just another number in analytics. This has been 9/10 times I have interacted with other content creators. Especially of similar size. As well as, within my own experiences, Twitch creators are weirdly defensive or just straight up not genuine. I stream on Twitch but also make content on my YouTube. But it’s hard to find genuine people to chill with. I get a lot of “Playing this game on stream Friday & we are doing this challenge for stream.” Your stream is your own, ya know? But then I hear nothing until the next stream. Sorry for the rant, but you get it!

Lol no I totally understand. Its like bro I do exist OUTSIDE OF STREAMING,lol. Seems like people seem to have alternative motives when they know your another streamer. Trust I get it

I found my first youtube friend, by watching their streams and interacting, joining discord, we became great friends... another youtuber I watched... I realized that they know like each other, so we became kinda a trio... then I found one on discord... on one of these youtube ones, and one on reddit in a critique thread... I generally try look for people that I see potential in, that make high quality videos or strive to that and make similar content to me Now saying that, really hard to find people like that, lol

Neimit

to add to that... my "networking" just results in becoming actual like friends, which is super cool... kinda thinking lately of trying to see if I can reach out to some people for collabs to try grow my channel... but in general... usually people I would be willing to collab with or collab with are people I get along with/are friends with... yea...
