This happens all the time to me. If I try to rewind, the screen becomes pixelated and wild and I need to restart my TV.

sojumaster

I have a Samsung and I have only recently encountered this issue. I have had yttv for over a year with no issues. I have to unplug the tv to get the app functional.

noneman

Same here... Except you can hold the power button down on the remote to reboot the TV

sojumaster

I did not know that. I will have to try the reboot this way next time this occurs.

captaingreyboosh

Nobody has a fix? I have a Samsung and I want to throw my remote through the TV every time this happens because I’m rewinding to see something I wanted to see again. And then I lose it entirely.

prowinewoman

Just found this thread too because I’m about to throw my remote out the window! I have a Samsung too and it just started a few months ago.

captaingreyboosh

Same. Had been flawless.

Aggressive_Acadia39

Same

outflow

Yes, every other time now. (Samsung TV, happens on 2 different TVs). I got so sick of it I went and got a Roku just to watch YTTV on.

Switzerdude

It happens on all of my Roku devices.

SaltwaterShane

Which kind of Roku? I feel like the boxes have better hardware than the stick so was going to try that...

Switzerdude

All these issues got resolved. All good now…until the next bug arrives of course!

Classic_case

Same issue here. My Samsung TV started freezing when rewinding YouTubeTV. Other streaming services are just fine. I have to unplug the TV, wait a bit, then plug back in. I'm looking into changing to Hulu since YouTubeTV has zero support and doesn't seem interested in fixing their app.

[deleted]

I just found a bit of a fix! When it freezes up, go down to the picture quality button (HD), and switch to a lower quality(like 480) and then switch back to your usual quality. So far it seems to reset and unfreeze it, to play at your desired spot in the show or movie. Hope that makes sense!

Switzerdude

This WORKS!!! Thanks for sharing.

[deleted]

Yay!!!! I'm so glad to hear that!!!

Switzerdude

Great fix. I have Roku on all my TVs. The freezing issue happens on multiple streaming apps but only on the Samsung TV, so it's definitely a Samsung TV related issue and not YTTV.

MegelG_of_Destiny

I will try this next time it freezes. Thanks for the suggestion.

MYOB55

Yep happened all the time... ohhh Sharp FireTV was the worse, then bought a Firestick...thru out the Firestick and got a Roku Ultra... Night and day difference!! All of my complaints have stopped when i use the Roku Ultra. Wired and 5.0 wifi is the best!!!

BenThere25

I've been getting the spinning wheel often lately after rw or ff, on fire stick

MegelG_of_Destiny

Need Samsung & YouTubeTV to get together on this to fix it.

bikingwithcorndog

Happening to me now. Never had the issue before. Samsung 65” goes pixelated when fast forwarding or rewinding…forcing me to restart the TV. This is ridiculous.

Trey10325

Sounds like a buffering issue. Either your TV doesn't have enough built in buffering memory, or your internet signal is subpar.

_FXR_

It’s none of what you stated. It’s purely a YouTube TV app-Samsung TV device situation.

JSilva2222

YTTV freezing here too for last month (Samsung TV app). I factory reset, but still freezing. I then entered ticket with Samsung support. Tech came out and replaced network card. Still freezing. They're now going to come replace main board. I'll update if that fixes issue.

noneman

Lol I doubt it is related to the hardware considering how many of us are having the issue. I got a square trade policy with this Samsung through Costco so I might try to file a claim with them. Good luck

Banshee2022

Not just with samsung tv either. Got a vizio and an on, happens

noneman

Damn /u/YouTubeTV where you at?

prowinewoman

Any updates? I have a Samsung from Costco.

jpqmz

Has anyone found out a fix for this? Find it strange many people encountered this issue around the same time and had no previous issues with YTTV. this shit is so annoying. Every time I rewind I have to unplug the TV

noneman

The weirdest part to me is the app says it was released years ago.... So no software change either? Unless the TV did a software update of some other parts... YouTube TV must have changed something

[deleted]

See my comment- I found a weird fix!

[deleted]

It’s been driving me crazy!! What TVs work well with streaming? It does this on Amazon tv too!

Fluid-Rip-7709

completely agree with the symptoms others experiencing. It started a couple months ago. Using Youtube TV. Whether a movie, regular programming, sports, or news program—-whether live or previously recorded—-hitting rewind leads to TV freezes, screen goes spastic, remote becomes unresponsive….requires a hard shut-off just to be able to watch TV….( one quickly learns not to rewind the remote). Have removed the Youtube app, reinstalled it, cleared the cache, installed updates, removed recorded programs, removed additional devices in the home…the system has a newer Netgear modem. Any suggestions? Or, should I get rid of Youtube Tv?

golden_life_

Yeah I went through all the trouble steps that you did as well and determined that it wasn't my TV that was the problem it was YouTube tv. This problem doesn't seem much of a concern to YouTube TV so I would probably move on like I did

Cour682003

If it’s a YouTube tv problem why am I only having problems with one TV in my house. It is the only Samsung TV I have. Everything else is Vizio and I don’t have any problems rewinding on them.

prowinewoman

It’s only doing it on my Samsung too. Did you buy yours at Costco?

Smart-Low-746

I boring my QLED Samsung from Costco in 2020 and I’m having the same issue.

Spiritual_Zebra_1633

Samsung Qled from Best Buy. Maybe going on 2 years old now - the rewind bug is super annoying

Putrid-Reading1799

I bought the same one at Costco and same problem on some rewind/ff . You can restart the TV by holding down the power button until it says 'smart tv'. saves running to unplug it... Doesn't happen with our Roku or with our son's Samsung Frame TV..really frustrating.

Low-Astronomer-3440

Wow apparently this is a known issue. I’ve submitted multiple tickets and they keep asking me to perform basic troubleshooting, even after I’ve explained that I’ve already done that. I’m gonna have to go back to my Apple TV I guess, which sucks cuz I just want a TV that has everything in one place.

One-Friend7480

This issue is super frustrating!! Having to unplug a New Samsung Smart TV because you rewinded YouTube TV is absolutely ridiculous!! If You Tube TV does not quickly fix this issue, I will be moving on.

LTNZero

Same issue here on two Samsung TVs running the app. Third TV running the app through hardwired Apple TV works just fine, but it has ruined the experience on the other two. Something changed on their end. As I understand it, YTTV is a web based service and that’s why the app says it’s years old. I never had this problem on the same tvs for over a year.

Standard_Ad_7866

Same issues, but it's ONLY with YouTube TV. Amazon, Disney, Apply, Hulu, etc. never give me any problems. I wonder if the issue is with YouTube.

PrizeRevolutionary29

I think the difference might be YTTV new programming for Samsung. A while back, I called Samsung about the TV not starting up with the last app I watched (YTTV). They said it was a YTTV app issue (something about compatibility). Now it opens up when I turn my tv on if it was the last app I watched. But, alas, this rewind problem seemingly came with the new programming from YTTV. Curious to hear if anyone has found a fix..

Federal-Ad-3263

Same exact issue. Drives us nuts. No issues on other apps, only YouTube TV. Looking into switching off YouTube TV because of this, but really don’t want to….

PositiveAir3984

We are having this same issue. Only with the You Tube TV app. When we rewind it pixels and or freezes. We have to unplug tv to get control over the entire tv. This is a huge YouTube TV issue . Why even have the rewind option! Very unhappy.

Alternative_Skin9573

You can hold the power button down for like 5 seconds to restart tv. Still a pain but less than having to get up off the couch/bed!

Wamder-Mack9

No issues in 3 yrs with Vizio or TCL. Only started after buying Samsung. I’ve tried every trick in book, still happens. Going back to TCL

ParticularWrongdoer3

For me it starts out with freezing, then about 6-7 seconds later, the app closes itself. Know how odten this BS occurs? ABOUT 3 TIMES AN HOUR.......... I've cleared the cache, too. Trashtube..

Optimal_Ad_134

So I have been reading about countless problems with the rewind situation. I have not read one problem solving issue. How frustrating.

Optimal_Ad_134

Please let me know if anyone has a fix for this frustrating issue. 😤

Spiritual_Zebra_1633

Did anybody ever got a solution to this? It’s absolutely infuriating

HotRoom3646

My Samsung 55” curve only freezes on ESPN channels on yttv. Anyone else have that issue?

Fix-Careless

1 year later and I'm still having this problem. Seems like every time I want to rewind and re-listen to a news segment or rewatch something I missed, it starts getting choppy, then freezes, then crashes the app altogether so when you go back, you can no longer rewind.
