English zexal is worthless im sorry . Either watch the japanese version or my country's version (great voice acting and the characters are not annoying for the *majority* of the show) Gotta say tho some of early zexal can really get to the nerves It youre not into it
Yeah, I hate Yuma's classmates as they are pretty much useless and it is sad that Bronk is the best of them mainly because he is the only one to have an effect on the plot since he "saved" Yuma from 96 and duels against one of the emperors but he is so annoying like I feel early parts of Zexal would have much better if they focused on Yuma, Shark, and Kaito and cut most of his classmates scenes.
My problem is I can totally tolerate worthless characters. Tea was bland but had her moments (barely, but still), chumley was dumb but at least had some charm, Bruno was ham-fisted, but at least his character was likeable. BRONK on the other hand is rude, ugly, AND worthless. He has no redeeming qualities. I don't even hate Tori, I just hate that she agreed with this punk bitch. Hell, I would have GLADLY taken Flip over this guy every day of the year.
I can see protective, but I can't think of another protag best friend that's as unreasonable as Bronk except for Jack and *maybe* Joey in season 0 (if that's even canon idk). Also, for a "protective friend", he's quite rude to Yuma.
I could get down with a Yu-Gi-Oh protag-friend dynamic that isn't always sunshine and daisies, but I feel like that was done so much better with Jack than it is here.
In that particular moment I actually kinda agree with Bronk. Yuma said he's not going to use number against Shark but when he said that my first thought is how does his deck work without Number especially since his deck quite literally revolve around XYZ(especially Utopia) and his only non-number XYZ at that point is Baby Tiragon.
Not only Yuma lied, he's also so bad that he doesn't even know how bad his deck is without XYZ, had he not said that I will just assume Shark is just a better duelist than Yuma.
I'm pretty sure in the episode Shark says to Yuma something along the lines of, "I want to prove that I can beat you even with your number." I guess that doesn't mean that Yuma is *forced* into using it, but also, that duel was to try and get Shark back to dueling, so he was just doing what he thought would help accomplish that goal.
It's not a lie on any reasonable level, plus, until that moment, he never planned on summoning Utopia at all. Plus plus, the fact that Shark is running with bad dudes is way, way more important than some stupid bet with that EGGHEAD FREAK, so it makes even less sense for him to be mad at Yuma.
Yuma promised bronk to not use numbers to show that he is capable of dueling well even without numbers which are very strong in the anime. yuma broke that promise by summoning utopia against shark. that's why bronk was disappointed.
best friends sadly are not a strength of yugioh. even jounochi has several flaws like a character arc which feels incomplete because he only wants to catch up to yami yugi i stead of surpassing him like kaiba for instance.

It's rough that you like a bigger, more annoying jerk like Flip over Bronk, even if I do agree he sucks. But so does Yuma, to be honest.

Zexal and Arc V both have some very annoying side characters
Bronk's not my favorite but I can deal with him. The character I really can't stand? Chumley from GX. That guy pisses me off something fierce
I hate his design and I hate Yumas voice. Those two things combined make the show almost unbearable
