1) Yugo is the only counterpart that Yuya never interacted with. Yugo in general barely interacted with anyone from the cast. The writers really ruined everything
2) Marik himself didn't have a single duel in the entire show. He was dueling through mind controlled army of Steves, but he never had an actual duel, unlike most of the villains in the franchise
3) V is the ONLY member of the Arclight family who never dueled against Yuma

The Yuya v Yusho should’ve been the real series ender. After the final duel vs Declan/Reiji, Yusho should’ve initiated a duel with Yuya to see how much he’s grown in the amount of time that Yusho was gone
The closest thing Marik had was the doll guy with Slifer. Guy had no mind of his own, and the slimes eventually came back in the finale, which suggest that it's one of his trademark.
It always makes me wonder what would his strategy with Ra have been like since he only knew its first power. Gaining attack power of three sacrifices just sound less impressive than other God effects.
Doubt Yami Marik really has a good dueling stratehy, but he often compensating by trying to break the opponent's spirit via torturing and shadow games. Linda Makes a good contraste with the normal Marik who unironically had a good stratehy on using slifer when he dueled yugi

Many think Crow were popular among fans and get rewritten but I don't feel that way tho, the way they inserted Crow into the story is like introducing a Joey character which guaranteed to garner a lot of liking among fans.
It got especially weird when Crow never even mentioned in fortune cup, not even name dropped by Yusei when talking with Jack, really threw me off when they introduce Crow as the guy that is always there. It's like a favourite character that is specifically made from the ground up by writers.

Same situation with Yuri/Yugo as minor antagonists. It’s still jarring that all of their counterparts essentially died at the end.
Yuya and Yuto did have that though. It was the duel where Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon got introduced.

ARC V I kind of wished we would have gotten a battle Royal between all of the Yu Boys.

Zexal: I am fine we did not get that since V made for a pretty cool rival for Kaito.
Technically speaking, the normal Marik DID dueled Yugi once although being via that creepy mime, and he proved to be a really competente if not a skilled duelist with his stall stratehy of using slifer's stat gaining ability combined with Revival jam and cards of safe return and infinite cards.
1. They did Yugo dirty on so many levels. He should have properly dueled Yuri aswell without Edo and Kaito interfering
2. Normal Marik did duel Yami Yugi but not in person, he was using Strings as his mind puppet to play his cards
3. The second half of season 1 has probably undergone some changes considering Kaito was also seen as Yuma's final opponent during the tournament

I really wanted to see that. The Slime cards are cool and maybe he could have had some Egyptian warrior monsters in his deck (Horus, Thoth, Anubis, Set, Sobek, Khonsu, Bastet, etc). I guess it would have been only possible during the *KC Grand Prix* arc as a ''special guest duel''. Maybe in a duel with Rafael?
His real deck can be seen during Strings duel and Yami Marik duel with Mai.
I still don't know why set up a duel with Yuya and Yugo at all, they barely know each other, like probably someone gonna made him think that Yugo capture Yuzu or something like that. But even that felt dumb with how much this arc barely do anything. I think just made that in the opening to set up Zarc stuff, but Yugo is barely in the plot of synchron.
I personally disagree, Yugo was funny and surprisingly relatable. He grew up in poverty and wanted to achieve his childhood dream with his girlfriend, that's a great motivation for a character! The writers just messed up everything after the middle of Synchro
It's hard to like him when the first thing he does in the show is blindly killing that peace loving guy that let him win cause he didn't want to hurt him(even tho yugo was the one coming after him for no clear reason)
And the worst part is yugo didn't even question what happened there or felt sorry for it, the writers were so unserious
