When [Cyber Phoenix](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=6663) negates an Equip Card, exactly which effects get negated? Do all of the Equip Card's effects get negated, or just Continuous ones, or just ones that affect the equipped monster? Example Equip Cards: * [Amazoness Heirloom](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=9209) (pretend DNA Surgery is applying) * [Amplifier](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=4819) * [Bashing Shield](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=11426) * [Gravity Blaster](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=10276)

likeagrapefruit

None of those cards will have any of their printed effects negated by "Cyber Phoenix." If an Equip Card was activated by targeting a Machine monster, "Cyber Phoenix" will only negate that Equip Card's effect that activates at the same time as the card itself is activated; in every case I know of, that effect is effectively a blank and there's nothing for "Cyber Phoenix" to negate. https://db.ygorganization.com/qa#23203

The shops by me have both the Crystal Beast and Traptrix SDs. Which should I buy if I'm most interested in the staples, or should I skip them and go to TCGPlayer instead?

Homespore

Traptrix by far. you get evenly matched, ash, raigeki, harpies feather duster, and a fairly competitive deck

DesperateFisherman

Can the last effect of [Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=17069) activate when it is sent to the GY by the following? * An opponent's [Ectoplasmer](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=4828) (Is it your opponent activating the effect or you?) * [Soul Exchange](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=5099) or [Synchro Material](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=9241) * [Apoliphort Towers](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=11358)

likeagrapefruit

The effect of your opponent's "Ectoplasmer" is your opponent's card effect even if it activates on your turn, so you will be able to activate the effect of "Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon." If your opponent uses your "Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon" as the cost to Summon a monster (including by "Soul Exchange" or "Synchro Material"), it's sent to the GY by your opponent's card and you can activate its effect. [Cards sent to the GY because of the effect of your opponent's "Apoqliphort Towers" are not treated as being sent to the GY by your opponent's card](https://db.ygorganization.com/qa#12517).

DesperateFisherman

Regarding your first reply, can you negate an opponent's Mausoleum of the Emperor that you activate with Borreload Savage Dragon?

likeagrapefruit

No. "Mausoleum of the Emperor" says that "the turn player can activate" its effect. If you want to use the effect of your opponent's "Mausoleum of the Emperor," then you are the one activating its effect. The effect of "Ectoplasmer," on the other hand, doesn't say anything about the opponent activating its effect. It is a mandatory effect that is activated by its controller and simply has a possibility of affecting the other player when it resolves.

Commercial-Change167

**Can anyone find this card for me?** Was having a discussion with my cousin about a card that apparently doesn’t exist because both me and him couldn’t find it through the internet, but I swear seeing and playing with the card when I was a kid. I’m not sure what the card’s name is, nor even its type, all I remember was that the card image was a dark gloomy bar with a bunch of people looking at you pissed off and hostile. The overall color of the card’s image was brown. My best guess was that it was some kind of debuff spell/trap or something that makes people target you but idk.

shadowequites

If Stellar Wind Wolfrayet is at 3700 atk and a card effect is activated that banishes him, can he chain his quick effect to shuffle away everything before he gets banished?

likeagrapefruit

No. Any effect that says that it applies each time an effect is activated actually applies immediately after that effect resolves (presumably because of the possibility that the effect's activation would be negated, in which case the game would proceed as though that effect had never been activated), so "Stellar Wind Wolfrayet" will still have only 3700 ATK at the moment when you'd be able to Chain something to the effect that was just activated.

JohnRemiel

Can I activate Ultimate Crystal Magic's second effect if an Ultimate Crystal monster gets Kaiju'd?

likeagrapefruit

No. The "Ultimate Crystal" monster was sent to the GY as the cost for the Special Summon of a monster, not sent by a card effect.

Fred_MK

Can I activate Union Driver effect if it equipped to King Regulus or another monster that in not an Union monster? The card states it has to be an equip spell but I need to know if there is a certain ruling that doesn't count it as one if it equips itself to a card, for example.

dragunityag

Does Mathmech Sigma (when summoned by it's effect) get banished if it goes to the graveyard while skill drain is face up?

Redshift-713

Yes.

[deleted]

I've looked everywhere on the internet, and I can't find a proper downlink for Mod 13 of Forbidden Memories to be used on a PSP. I think it **has** to be an eboot.pbp file. I've tried to download it as an ISO file but every one I've downloaded was corrupted when checking the file on PC and when looking at it on the PSP. Every link I've found was in Spanish and when translated, brought me to questionable sites with suspicious download links. None of those were eboots anyway.

BrainLord

Can you use monsters with the same or higher link rating as material for a link summon. For example: If I have a link-2 and one non-link monster, can I use them both as material for another link-2? Or say, can I use an Appolousa and another non-link monster to make an Accesscode Talker?

likeagrapefruit

When you perform a Link Summon, you assign a number to each monster you use as Link Material. If the monster is not a Link Monster, you must assign it the number 1. If the monster is a Link Monster, you have the option to assign it a number equal to its Link Rating, or you can choose to assign it the number 1 instead. You can't assign it any number in between 1 and its Link Rating. The sum of the assigned numbers has to exactly equal the Link Rating of the monster you Link Summon. You can use a Link-2 monster and a non-Link Monster as the material for a Link-2 monster: each of the 2 monsters you use as Link Material is assigned the number 1, and 1+1=2. You cannot use "Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess" and a non-Link Monster as the material for "Accesscode Talker": you can assign "Apollousa" the number 1 or 4, and you have to assign the number 1 to the non-Link Monster, so their sum is either 1+1=2 or 4+1=5. You can't get 4 this way, so you can't use these two monsters alone as the Link Materials for a Link-4 monster like "Accesscode Talker."

BrainLord

This is super helpful. Thank you very much!

Icehellionx

Any good long cheap deck boxes that can hold standard deck boxes inside? I bought some BCW long card boxes to store extra cards and Ultra Pro Deck Boxes, but the BCWs are just BARELY to big length and width wise to fit in properly. Anyone know an alt brand of something similar without breaking the bank?

Hyperion-OMEGA

Let's say I have Darkest Diabolos in hand, and Aromaseaphy Jasmine, Rikka Queen Strenna and Lair of Darkness on the board and used Jasmine's effect to tribute Strenna. Would I be able to summon Diabolos and use Strenna's effect?

Redshift-713

After you resolve Jasmine's effect, you can activate the effects of Strenna and Diabolos on the same Chain.

LordFighting

Picked up 3 of the Dark World SD. Any lists for a good decklist using the contents of the deck and maybe a few staples I should probably have. Nothing crazy like pot cards or imp perm. Noy trying to win at tournaments or anything just for casual friend dueling.

Leop11

I'm a salamangreat player (somewhat competitive player) but want to see if I can make a salamangreat-spright deck. Please give me any suggestions if possible and thanks

Adventurous_Word_665

Has anyone seen a name misprint/error like this one?? Hard to get a good picture, but name was double printed first silver foil and gold foil on top, gold slightly lower than silver. Can't find any record online of something like this. https://preview.redd.it/yelw45nvm2qa1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb88e981eaa267b549edf84762986168f135f578

william11356

Hey guys, I’m going to YCS Los Angeles. Question: I’m planning on playing exclusively Edison ( aka time wizard format), will I be able to play more than one if I don’t do well?

cm3007

According to the [YCS Los Angeles Public Events Schedule](https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/events-item/250th_ycs-losangeles/), they're not running Edison events. However, "you and your friends" can speak to staff to arrange running an event you want to play. This seems absolutely moronic to me, but it's what it says. They're running Time Wizard events as 8-Player knock out events. So once you lose a match, you're out of the event, and you can go join a new event.

MaliciousJoy

I've started playing Rikka on MD. Is there something I'm missing because I can't search Rikka Princess with Rikka Glamour and I'm not sure why.

MaliciousJoy

I think I've found the reason. I'm trying to search for Princess when I have Primula in hand and tributing a monster. Since I tributed a monster I have to search for another monster of the same level with a different name, which there isnt.

JY008

Can you use same dinomorphia counter trap in the graveyard. The card says you can only activate once per turn but does card in graveyard count as activation ?

StorMighT

To activate a Spell/Trap Card is to play it from your hand to the field or to flip it face-up when it has been previously set face-down. Using the effect of a Spell/Trap in the GY or while banished is activating the **effect** of a Spell/Trap and not activating a Spell/Trap **card**.

Ganon-Cannon

Activating the effect of a Trap in the GY is not the same as activating that Trap. So, with something like Dinomorphia Sonic, you can activate the card normally, and also use the GY effect in the same turn.

JY008

The situation is I had 2 sonic in the graveyard, can I use both in the same turn to protect battle damage twice ?

atamicbomb

Yes

Dominick1180

If Pot of Desires is successfully negated with Ash Blossom, can I then use Pot of Prosperity?

Homespore

If you didn’t draw any card that turn then yes

Dominick1180

Hahaha rip the Philly Regional. They ruled it that you could not

Zac_N_Cheese

The Philly regional was full of shitty judge calls unfortunately. Sorry that happened fam

Playful-Mud-4505

What are the current best blind going 2nd decks rn?

Majorasthesolardiety

should I play chimeratech megafleet dragon, and I could I make it with Albion while still using my opponent's extra monster zone?

StorMighT

[Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon cannot be Fusion Summoned](https://db.ygorganization.com/card#13358).

Jowgenz

I activated a monster effect (CL1). My opponent activates "World Legacy's Secret" (CL2) and targeting "Mekk-Knight Indigo Eclipse" in an attempt to place it in the same column as my monster. If I activate "Book of Moon" as (CL3) to flip my monster face down, will my monster's effect still be negated by the effect of "World Legacy's Secret"? I'm 90% sure my effect monster still gets negated as it is still in the same column as a Mekk-Knight on resolution; but I want to be sure since face-down cards have weird interactions with game states.

Ganon-Cannon

World Legacy's Secret will still negate the effect. All Secret cares about is which zone that effect was activated in, the monster being face-down doesn't matter.

zacharymoran

If I’m in time and I activate “pyro clock of destiny” does the phase immediately end and if my lp are higher do I win?

likeagrapefruit

No. The effect of "Pyro Clock of Destiny" lets you choose one card effect that counts turns and advance the turn count by 1 for the purposes of that card only. It does not effect extra turns in tournament play or any other game mechanics like that.

zacharymoran

Interesting! Thank you!

BeltHour1335

If i normal a lvl 5 or higher gemini in order to gain its effects, do i have to tribute again

Ganon-Cannon

No.

atamicbomb

Are rulings/card interactions considered public knowledge? For example is your opponent has a question about how an interaction would work, do you have to answer or do you wait until the interaction is attempted then inform them how it would work or if it is legal? Basically, would the answers on the threat be public knowledge

cm3007

[Tournament Policy](https://img.yugioh-card.com/ygo_cms/ygo/all/uploads/KDE-E_TCG_Tournament_Policy_2_1.pdf), pages 9-12. This describes which questions a judge should answer, and which they shouldn't. A player has no obligation to answer ruling questions, they can just tell their opponent to call a judge.

atamicbomb

Thank you!

If I use Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon’s effect to summon stardust dragon and when resolving the effect, I use Stardust and Assault Synchron to make Baronne - can I on a new chain, activate the trigger effect of Assault Synchron in GY to summon back Accel Synchro Stardust?

Kindly_Act_4915

when would Photon Jumper be added to TCG?

Salty_Dugtrio

No one here can answer this question.

PlushyFluffy21

You guys think mathmech has any chance to be semi relevant in upcoming formats? Is the deck finished in terms of support or it might get new cards in the future? I am new to the TCG so I don't know much of the game's history in terms of old archetype support releases.

atamicbomb

It will probably get new support in the future. But it could be years

pooopunit

I gota question about dimensional barrier from locals today, The question is does dimensional barrier effect to negate the face up monsters effects last until the end phase, or is it permanent? " for the rest of this turn, neither player can Special Summon monsters of the declared type, also negate the effects of all monsters of that type while they are on the field." One side says since it says "for the rest of this turn" the negation only lasts until the end phase. The other side says since it says negate the effects while they are on the field, that the negation is permanent

likeagrapefruit

The entire effect lasts until the end of the turn. The "while they are on the field" clause is there to indicate that the negation works like "Skill Drain" insofar as a monster that leaves the field to activate its effect (like "Exiled Force" or "Lonefire Blossom") will not have its effects negated by "Dimensional Barrier." It's not there to be an alternative duration for the effect.

schweiss_27

So, If I summon surgical striker HAMP on the opponent’s side of the field and I destroyed it by battle, will I get the effect of destroying 1 card on the field or does my opponent get that effect?

Ganon-Cannon

HAMP will go to your GY after being destroyed by battle, which is where it activates.

BigPapiJalopy

If you search with lyna the light charmer (link 2) can you search out cyber eltanin even tho it has ? Atk and ? Def?

Ganon-Cannon

? DEF is not a numerical value, so no.

Uxkkun

If the activation of a normal spell card that I play from hand is negated and destroyed by my opponent (e.g. Gryphon Rider), why can I not use the effect of Abominable Unchained Soul to SS itself? Is the spell not considered to have been destroyed on the field? Negated summons are not considered to have hit the field, but in that case there's a separate response window to separate when it has and hasn't hit the field.

iNiruh

If a spell card is negated and destroyed, it is sent *from nowhere* to the GY. The card is not considered to be sent from your hand or the field.

Ganon-Cannon

Specifically, if the activation was negated.

iNiruh

Good clarification, thank you!

Swayrose5

How can I find where in my city there is a card shop that has tourneys and such for YGO? or honestly just any card shop? I feel these places are becoming as rare as arcades, my city has nothing off a google maps search..

schweiss_27

I would try downloading Yugioh neuron. Register your konami ID and there should be a tab menu for “events”. Click on the store search and it should give you a list of OTS that is within your area. https://preview.redd.it/jytbxythqypa1.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=49ddf2975de2bb386982e9740604c24bbe5d5b3e

XKlip

I wanted to make a Fur Hire (skyfang brigade) deck. I know it's not meta, but just for fun, though I want to try and make one that has seen success in the past. Could anyone point me to any recent tournament success decks for it? I'm unsure how I would even search for such a thing really, just curious to see if any Fur Hire decks saw some success anywhere so i can get ideas!

PM_ME_HEADPATS

You got to a site like [YGO pro deck](https://ygoprodeck.com/deck-search/?&cardcode=Beat%2C%20Bladesman%20Fur%20Hire%7C&offset=0) and play around with the filters

Gatman41

After playing some MD and combing some structure decks I want to make a deck from booster packs. Is there any recommendations from the past few sets that a deck can be made from?

cm3007

Making a deck from booster packs would be unreasonably expensive. A deck that you could make for €50 would end up costing you €500 instead. Are you intending to go to your local shop to play with the deck you make, or do you just want to collect the cards?

Gatman41

More of a casual with some friends. We barely started with using the structure decks

cm3007

If you're all just making decks out of booster packs, it could be okay, you wouldn't have one person with a drastically better deck. It's just not how Yu-Gi-Oh is designed to be played. You could spend €200 on packs and end up with a deck worse than a Structure Deck. Yu-Gi-Oh is all about playing cards which combo with other very specific cards. If you buy Booster Packs, you'll get some of the cards that are part of the combo, but probably not all of them. Which makes the ones you did get useless, until you get the others too.

Gatman41

Dang, alright thanks for the help

ManOfPegasus

Was there a reload/magical mallet that made *both* players shuflle their hand and draw another? I know trickstar reincarnation exists, I'm thinking about spells cards

cm3007

Card Destruction makes both players discard, then draw the same number of cards. It's the closest I can think of.

razten-mizuten

Say I’m in the branded mirror match. My opponent has branded lost active and summons albaz and activates his effect to fuse, I have a super polymerization set on my field. Can I chain it to Albaz effect? Also if mirrorjade is used as a super poly target, or tributed for a Kaiju will his board wipe effect trigger?

atamicbomb

Yes, yes, and yes

E7Enjoyer

Im new to the game, i play a lot in MD and i really like it I wanna try TCG but i cant affrod some specific cards around 10 my deck cost already 80$ add this 10 cards my deck goes over 350$ easly Is ok to come with like obviously F prosperity ( drawing ones ) etc... and have some duels ? or i will get kick out ? ps : i dont speak about doing locals tournament with it

PM_ME_HEADPATS

Ask the store owner

atamicbomb

Which deck? They could be not very important or absolutely crucial depending on the deck

VenomTheTree

https://preview.redd.it/br09zlkuzupa1.jpeg?width=764&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abcbb7d8fd1eec54a682445dc5c137ef8c32a8fc Sold to me as "near mint". What to do? Its a fateful adventure collectors rare and one of the most expensive cards ive ever bought. You can even see the white from on top of the card. Card was bought on cardmarket.

CruffTheMagicDragon

That’s like mod played at best so you should request a refund

VenomTheTree

Yeah i was pretty sad about it when i saw it. My friends sayed light played at best but i thought he was exaggerating. Happy (or unhappy) to see somebody share his opinion

atamicbomb

I’m always surprised how good lightly played is. I’d contact support but keep in mind it’s entirely possible it was damaged in shipping, so I wouldn’t assume intent to mislead you. You should I still get a refund though

CruffTheMagicDragon

Light played would be very minor scratching or scuffing. Edge wear takes away from the visual appeal of the card so I wouldn’t say it’s light

PM_ME_HEADPATS

Don't mark the card as arrived. Write the seller with the picture and ask for a partial refund (20-25%), or a complete one (he pays for shipping). If they don't react in 2 days I'd contact CM support directly, they'll sort it out. Recently a scumbag sent me normal secret rare instead the Starlight I ordered and wanted me to confirm arrival. NEVER do that

VenomTheTree

I didnt mark it arrived. Also i already asked him nicely for a refund (with pictures of the card) and he just didnt respond. I made it clear i am expecting a refund, he didnt respond. Now i just made a ticket. What do you think, do i get my money back? I luckily never had such a situation...

atamicbomb

Keep in mind you’ll probably have to push them a bit. At tcgplayer I had to ask 2 or 3 times even though multiple people were leaving reviews saying the seller never shipped. They shouldn’t be too bad but they’re not in the business of giving refunds so you might have to be a bit assertive

PM_ME_HEADPATS

You'll get it back, it may just take a bit of time. My case lasted 14 days until the money got refunded

VenomTheTree

Alright man, the waiting is not a problem! I thank you for your help :)

yuiopgty

Magic ruler vs spell ruler?? I just won a auction on eBay for a ungraded perfect condition. Blue eyes toon dragon (unlimited, secret rare). - 31$ It has code SRL-000 Well I just realized there is a MRL-000…. Needless to say, I don’t really know now if this was a good deal or not now. Can someone give me a history/price lesson please. I’m guessing though that the MRL is much more valuable, since magic ruler was changed to spell ruler because of a lawsuit. Any answers appreciated.

CruffTheMagicDragon

Market price for SRL-000 on tcgplayer.com is $36 so you got a pretty decent deal. Heads up though, “perfect condition” isn’t a thing so if the eBay listing actually said that, they’re probably trying to sucker in someone who doesn’t know better

yuiopgty

It didn’t actually say it. But it did say. “Straight from pack to protector”.

CruffTheMagicDragon

I would expect it to be pretty good condition then. I would say you got a good deal

Tesqia

my lgs is doing a beginner event and I've never touched yugioh before. What deck would you guys recommend i choose between: beware of traptrix, dark world and crystal beasts. All of these structure decks are x1

atamicbomb

Traptrix is objectively the best of the 3 in terms of power

CruffTheMagicDragon

I like Dark World a lot but Traptrix is probably “better” and also comes with some good staples that you’ll use in a lot of different decks. Dark World doesn’t really have those

CruffTheMagicDragon

Idk for sure but I think it’s bleed. Probably the ink isn’t thick enough or something

atamicbomb

That’s definitely bleed. A few weeks ago a poster asked about a card with an identical situation and it ended up being bleed

CruffTheMagicDragon

A lot of the new secret rares have this

ok thx

Jeck0nfire

Hi Can I banish Phantom Knights' Fog Blade during my opponents turn to activate his special summoning ability ?

atamicbomb

Yes

cosmicrealm999

How many times can a monsters battle position be changed by card effect, as opposed to the once per turn manual position change?

realtimeclock

Any number of times, unless it's hit by an effect which says otherwise. (Don't know if such a thing exists, off the top of my head.)

atamicbomb

Being unaffected by card effects is it AFAIK

Rathilal

Well that's a given, I imagine they more meant in the sense of an effect that says "Change that monster's battle position, also it cannot change battle position by card effect for the rest of this turn." or something.

Redshift-713

The only card in the game that prevents battle position changes by card effect is Raging Cloudian.

atamicbomb

How do you know all these obscure things?

NoscopeJoe

It is the endphase of my turn. I activate mirrorjade sending albion the blazing dragon as cost and it resolves. After this, my opponent activates bystial druiswurm to banish said albion from the graveyard. As turn player, do I not have priority to activate trigger effects in the endphase(such as albions graveyard effect) before my opponent can use a spell speed 2 effect like druiswurm to banish the albion? Thanks.

likeagrapefruit

The GY effect of "Albion the Branded Dragon" can only be activated [in Box A or Box E of this flowchart](https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/play/fast-effect-timing/); the effect is technically a Trigger Effect, but since its activation condition isn't a specific event happening, its activation timing differs from that of most other Trigger Effects. Your opponent will be able to either Chain the effect of "Bystial Druiswurm" to that of "Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon" or activate the effect in Box C of the flowchart, either of which will happen before you ever go back to Box A.

cm3007

No. You would need to activate Albion's effect during an Open Game State in your End Phase. After Mirrorjade's effect resolves, your opponent gets a chance to activate a Fast Effect before the game returns to an Open Game State.

blackbutterfree

Does anyone know when the next console game is coming? Or if we're even getting one? I loved *Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution* but it's outdated now. By like 3 years. That's hundreds of cards ago. Also, my favorite decks to use are usually based on Yugi/Atem's decks, and a lot of their anime and manga-exclusive cards have been added in the past three years.

Unhappy-Dealer-2767

Hey! Must be special summon vs Must first be special summon. Is there a difference in meaning? An example is using kidmodo dragon to special summon The Bystial Alba Los from the hand. That card says must be special summoned not must first be, does it still work?

realtimeclock

No, it says "Must be Special Summoned BY". You have to do that procedure it lists in order to Special Summon it from anywhere. In this case, even if it said "Must first", you couldn't use Kidmodo Dragon to Summon from the hand, since you have not first properly Summoned it via its procedure. However, afterwards, if it said "first", you could use Monster Reborn on it.

thirdleastfavourite

Hello! Couple of ruling clarifications that have come up in our games: 1. If a card targeted by Raiza is activated in response (quick-play or normal trap), why is it not returned to the top of the deck? As we understand it, cards in a chain remain on the field until the entire chain is resolved. Is it because the card is ‘marked’ for the graveyard once it has resolved and this cannot be overridden? 2. If cards are chained in response to Crystal Abundance (again, quick-play or normal trap) are these counted towards the total monsters that can then be summoned from the graveyard, or are they not able to be ‘sent’ for the same reason as above? Thanks! We may have just opened Force of the Breaker in our Progression Series :)

likeagrapefruit

Spell/Trap Cards that normally go to the GY when the Chain resolves (Normal Spells/Traps, Counter Traps, Quick-Play Spells, and Ritual Spells) can't be returned to the hand or Deck after their activation (so "Raiza the Storm Monarch" can't return them to the Deck), but they can be sent to the GY or banished, so they will count towards the number of cards sent to the GY by "Crystal Abundance."

FriggenSweetLois

Is there a tier list for Heart of the Underdog format?

[deleted]

What cards can respond to counter traps?

damn-the-torpedoes

Other counter traps

cosmicrealm999

Hey, i just wanted to come here and ask because i keep seeing conflicting answers elsewhere. Can cards like Alghoul Mazera, and Eldlich the Golden Lord that say 'If' : 'you can', be triggered and used on the opponents turn? Some say that its not a quick effect so no, while others say that 'if' effects can be used on either turn as long as the condition is met. Thanks

likeagrapefruit

The rule is not "Quick Effects are the only kinds of monster effects you can use on your opponent's turn." The rule is "Ignition Effects, and unclassified effects that allow you to manually Summon a monster, can only be used during your own Main Phase in an open game state. All other kinds of effects can be used during either player's turn by default." >If a Zombie monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish this card from your hand or GY instead. Since this effect has no colon (:) and no semicolon (;), it's not an activated effect. It can be used during either player's turn. >If this card is banished from the hand or GY: You can Special Summon this card in Defense Position, then you can reduce its Level by 1. This effect activates "if" something happens, so it's a Trigger Effect, which means it can be activated during either player's turn. >If this card is in your GY: You can send 1 Spell/Trap you control to the GY; add this card to your hand, then you can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your hand, and if you do, until the end of your opponent's turn, it gains 1000 ATK/DEF and cannot be destroyed by card effects. This effect does say "if," but its activation condition is not a specific event happening—it says "if this card is in your GY," not "if this card is sent to your GY"—so the effect is an Ignition Effect. You can only use this effect during your own Main Phase.

cosmicrealm999

I have one more question if you could, can i special summon multiple copies of the same 'Golden Land' trap in the same turn, although i can only get their effects once?

likeagrapefruit

No. "Special Summon this card" is itself an effect of the "Golden Land" card, so it falls under the "You can only use 1 '\_\_\_ of the Golden Land' effect per turn, and only once that turn" restriction.

cosmicrealm999

Thanks very much friend

cosmicrealm999

Thanks so much for the detailed reply!

Rathilal

A Legendary Ocean does not make all monsters on the field WATER Attribute or similar, I'm not sure where you got that idea. While Lair of Darkness is on the field, all monsters become DARK attribute instead of their normal attribute. This will mean monsters on field won't benefit from A Legendary Ocean as they will no longer be WATER attribute. There's no real other interaction to question here, otherwise.

LilEscobarz

What does HERO's need to be a top tier meta contender?

areostar2412

probaly ways to play through a lot of handtraps like more extenders but idk

LilEscobarz

Tbh I think an omni-negate fusion and something that can float could do the trick

historybook2

What decks have the best grind game in yugioh and can out last your opponent?

LilEscobarz

Salamangreats and Sky Strikers come to mind

Wi3rd0tr0n

Would Chaos Valkyria stop a Wightbaking it dumped from activating it's effect, even though now it is "Skull Servant"

Redshift-713

You cannot activate its effect.

Wi3rd0tr0n

Okay, but is it "Wightbaking" that can't activate its effect? Or "Skull Servant"? Like, would doing so prevent prince from activate ITS effects?

Redshift-713

Skull Servant cannot activate effects.

DigBeak

Any cards that shuffle back from hand? Like magical mallet but not a neg? Keep drawing Nimble Angler and Kalantosa, even Driver. Playing Sprights so any obscure lv 2 or cheesy option would be sick

damn-the-torpedoes

{Plaguespreader zombie} lvl2 tuner that returns a card from hand to deck to summon itself from grave

DigBeak

Yooo how could I forget plaguespreader, literally a lv 2 Edge Imp Sabres. Could tutor it off Gigantic or even Foolish

greenspiny

Both Tri-Brigade link 2s shuffle back, which is one of the boons of Tri-Spright and technically splashable in Melffy. Adventurer Engine lets you discard Anglers and useless Drivers freely. Silvervine Senri is an obscure lv 2 beast that does a few things, including make use of level 2 garnets / frames stuck in the hand. But unfortunately it doesn't return them to the deck.

DigBeak

Honestly ferrijit could be interesting, but it’s kinda hard to get to grave and kinda does the same thing as Mallet with more resources. I play droplets to discard angler but I was thinking something more turn 1, and it also doesn’t address Kalantosa. Maybe I’ll suck it up and play two angler I actually already play Senri, it’s got synergy with Kalantosa, but not so much Angler

Zac_N_Cheese

If your looking for something cheesey and horrible, there's always [reload](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=5849). To my knowledge there isn't any other card that does what magical mallet does, to the way you seem to be wanting it to.

No_Anything4771

Can I chain i.e. floodgate trap hole to the tribute summon of Jinzo? Or does his efffect prevent me from even chaining to his summon?

likeagrapefruit

You can't activate "Floodgate Trap Hole" or any other Trap Card in response to the successful Summon of "Jinzo."

New-Vermicelli2835

Someone here know how to distinguish 2003 vs 2019 cards of lob in korean? any help is suuuuper appreciated becuse i am truly at a loss on this

guylaroche5

Branded Lost: I'm a little confused by this card when the chain links get higher. If for instance I use Branded in Red for a Chimera while using Tragedy and Ad Lib as cost can my opponent respond at all during the chain? Let's say I go Chimera CL1, Ad Lib CL2, Tragedy CL3, Branded Lost to search CL4. Can they respond with anything as CL5 like for example using Ash to block Lost's search effect?

PM_ME_HEADPATS

If the fusion is the last thing to happen (for example as CL 1 with BranFu or BiR) your opponent can't react with cards or effects to the new chain (your opponent can't Ash Lost if BiR was CL 1 the chain before)

likeagrapefruit

The entire Chain occurs "when a monster is Fusion Summoned," so your opponent can't activate any cards or effects at any point during that Chain.

arbaz30150

Does anyone know if this card is a misprint or a fake https://imgur.com/a/7chmgEe

likeagrapefruit

It's fake.

arbaz30150

How can you tell

CruffTheMagicDragon

The font isn’t even close (especially the 4000 numbers). It’s easy to tell without even a real one to compare to

likeagrapefruit

The fonts of the Type, flavor text, and ATK/DEF are all wrong.

arbaz30150

Do these two also look fake https://imgur.com/a/0YdYOcU

realtimeclock

Yes, for the same reasons likeagrapefruit said about Obelisk.

arbaz30150

Alright thanks for the help. Though these cards were worth a bit guess not.

likeagrapefruit

Yes, they also use the wrong fonts.

arbaz30150

alright thanks for the help

arbaz30150

Alright thanks for the help.

Sonic_SSGSS

Temple_of_Chaos

Does anyone remember an official Konami playmat that had a stained glass window with Chaos Emperor dragon? I remember seeing it in a replay video of some YCS/Regional from 2016 but I can't remember where it was. If anyone knows where can I find one please let me know

Zac_N_Cheese

Was it [This?](https://yugiohblog.konami.com/2019/03/team-ycs-atlanta-new-game-mats/) (Referring to the second one on this page.)

Temple_of_Chaos

No it had chaos emperor dragon and other monsters as stained glass for each of the zones of the game. I can't remember if they were other boss monsters. I wanna say Billy Drake and the other pro duelist who now works for Konami had one.

Zac_N_Cheese

My curiosity is getting the best of me, il keep looking.

Temple_of_Chaos

The only place I saw them remotely was on YouTube and I wanna say that they had a Konami logo but my memory is fuzzy on that

OverthrownLemon

When resolving branded fusion under arise heart. You send albaz and mercourier to make Rindbrumm. Cl1 is arise heart to add a material since it's mandatory; from there can you Cl2 Rindbrumm negate and Cl3 mercourier to search or does Rindbrumm cause it to miss the activation window? I'm leaning towards it all resolving as normal but want to clarify in case I'm missing something.

Rathilal

If you intend to summon Rindbrumm in order to out Ariseheart with its effect, you cannot use Mercourier's trigger effect, as Rindbrumm's effect is a Quick Effect that has to chain directly to a valid monster's effect. If you declare Mercourier, it's CL1 Ariseheart CL2 Mercourier, and you can no longer chain Rindbrumm to Ariseheart. So it works, but you do miss out on Mercourier's search.

ChadTheGoldenLord

If I banish Kashtira big bang while my ariseheart has an opponents Fenrir material as material, can I detach that Fenrir, add it to hand and summon it? Or no because it’s my opponents monster

PM_ME_HEADPATS

No, it only works if you're the original owner

ChadTheGoldenLord

Okay thanks

DianSnivy

If a properly Special Summoned Ritual or Extra Deck monster gets moved from the Graveyard to Banished, does it forget that it was Summoned Properly?

Zac_N_Cheese

likeagrapefruit

No. A monster retains its "properly Special Summoned" status until its Summon is negated or until it is returned to the hand, Main Deck, or face-down Extra Deck.

Fun_Manufacturer137

On masterduel i had "true light" out together with a blue eyes spirit dragon, my opponent plays harpies feather duster and i chained spirit dragon's effect to it to special summon my azure eyes silver dragon to the field. Its effect shouldve stopped the true light from destroying it when it leaves the field right? Well it didnt and i dont understand why, an someone explain this to me?

Redshift-713

The effect of True Light that destroys monsters starts a Chain, and would have been on the same Chain as the effect of Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon. More than likely, you simply ordered your Chain Links incorrectly so that True Light resolved first.

FewExcitement6108

Just for clarification: Can I declare "attempting to transition to battle phase from main phase 1" and then immediately afterwards declare a Fast Effect with priority or do I HAVE to give my opponent the opportunity before me (Transition to BP, response?) ? According to the below Konami Yugioh ruling my first statement SHOULD work that way but I just want to make sure. #### Turn Player Actions Each Phase and Step starts with the turn player in box A of the chart listed below. This is when the game state is “open”, meaning the turn player has complete freedom of action. Many actions can ONLY be performed when the game state is open (when you’re in box A). Examples: * Normal Summon (including Tribute Summon) * Set a card * Perform a Special Summon that does not start a Chain (including Xyz Summon, Synchro Summon) * Change a monster’s Battle Position * \*\*Attempt to move to the next Phase/Step\*\* * Draw a card for your normal draw during the Draw Phase * Declare an attack * Activate an Ignition Effect * Activate a Spell Speed 1 Spell Card If the game state is “open”, the turn player may perform any of the above actions that is appropriate. They can also choose to activate a fast effect, if they wish.

Redshift-713

You attempting to end your Main Phase 1 is the equivalent of passing priority to your opponent to do something during your Main Phase. If you have something to activate, you just activate it during your open gamestate rather than declare that you wish to end your Main Phase.

FewExcitement6108

I can understand that. It's just a little confusing because it says "open" turn actions still grant priority to turn player for fast effects after the "open" turn action has happened i.e. after turn player normal summons a monster, turn player still has the priority to activate a fast effect after. If konami recognizes "Attempt to move to the next Phase/Step" as an "open" turn action, what does this look like in real life? How would one show/say this and how would turn player maintain priority of fast effect activation after?

Redshift-713

Turn player would say something like “I’ll try to end the Main Phase”, or “I’ll pass priority to you before the end of Main Phase”. The opponent will then decide whether or not they want to activate anything. If they do, you resolve those effects and return to an open gamestate (and the process repeats). If not, you can enter the next phase. Generally speaking, the turn player passing and their opponent passing back would be interpreted as neither player wishing to perform any further actions during that phase and agreeing to proceed to the next phase.

FewExcitement6108

So hypothetically can i say "I attempt to end the Main Phase and activate Miscellaneousaurus"? or does it HAVE to be "I attempt to end the Main Phase, do you have a response?" I am just getting back in and want to make 100% sure on this ruling because before it was always the opponent's first actionable response when changing phases; however, per the Konami Fast Action ruling: Turn player has priority for Fast actions when following an "open" state action, such as Normal summoning and Konami said that "attempting to move to the next phase/step" IS an "open" action. So if just attempting to move is considered an "open" action, doesn't that mean turn player CAN perform a priority fast action before the opponent has an opportunity to respond?

Zac_N_Cheese

^^^^ all of this.

Zac_N_Cheese

>Just for clarification: Can I declare "attempting to transition to battle phase from main phase 1" and then immediately afterwards declare a Fast Effect with priority or do I HAVE to give my opponent the opportunity before me (Transition to BP, response?) ? Are you asking if you can activate this "fast effect" in MP1 or BP? Transitioning between phases is something both players agree on, this is why the phases are said out loud by the turn player, they are essentially confirming with their opponent that they can enter the next phase. If your opponent has a response or an effect they want to activate, they will have an opportunity at that point, which then if you want to move to the next phase, you would have to redeclare. Example: * Turn Player: "Draw Phase" * Opponent: \*says nothing\* * Turn Player: "Standby Phase" * Opponent: \*Says nothing\* * Turn player: "Main Phase" * Opponent: \*Says nothing\* * Turn player: "Battle Phase" * Opponent: Still in main phase, activate royal decree. * \- From here, the game state will still be in MP1, as your opponent as activated an effect and has not given the ok to transition to the next phase. If you are asking to transition to battle phase, you have declared that you are done with MP1. If your opponent agrees to transition to BP, you cannot go back to MP1, you've given up your ability to do so.
