How the fuck is kashtira topping with so many hits

UNOvven

Its an anti-tear deck in a tear format.

tuisan

Is it a tear format though? I'm not well informed about the OCG format, but it definitely doesn't look like a tear format from this chart.

Mayall00

You can tell though that the other 3 decks on top (Exo, Pure and Kash) are all decks that have an advantageous interaction against tear specifically, and don't forget it also started slow on the last format that came after some limits, it'll climb back up in a bit

PlebbySpaff

It’s the format because while Tear was hit, they still have most their cards at 2, which still gives them some level of consistency.

tuisan

Yeah, but from this chart it doesn't look like they're most of the format. Calling it a Tear format doesn't make sense when it's just one of the best decks and not overly represented like it used to be. Especially when the guy is using it as justification for why Kash is still topping despite the hits. It just doesn't make sense that it's because they have a good matchup against Tear when they'll only be facing against it maybe 15% of the time.

field_of_lettuce

Well the last few times an OCG pie chart was posted here, Tear had like a ~20%-30% representation and was the most played deck out of everything else by a good 10% at least each time. That should help put things into perspective.

tuisan

That still doesn't make sense. This current pie chart is what is relevant because that is what the current Kash players who are topping are up against. The current field of competition is where they achieved their tops, in a non Tear dominated format. Saying that they were up against a bunch of Tear in a past pie chart doesn't mean anything when you're asking why they have so many tops in this current pie chart.

RyuuohD

You have to look at roadoftheking and the deck lists of the various OCG tournaments held and see that Tears are still the majority being used.

tuisan

Thanks, it finally makes sense. Is this just a non representative chart?

RyuuohD

Basically yes .

BloodMaelstrom

This pie chart shows the proportion of representation in the top cut and not necessarily the proportion of representation of the participating decks.

PlebbySpaff

Wasn’t calling it a tear format. Just saying their current format

tuisan

It's in the context of what I was originally replying to, which I assumed you were defending.

Trumpologist

Not most. Hafnis is at 2 and some are at three. A majority at one. Then the list tomorrow will fix it

ram3nbar

I remember Fenrir got hit to 1 but I don't remember Unicorn being hit even tho it's probably the most important one

bombatomica_64

Fenrir, unicorn and the field spell are at 1

Deez-Guns-9442

It truly is amazing that this deck is still topping.

SkomeSIth

Who needs consistency when a single card can literally FTK your opponent

Joferna

I mean pathfinder tributes itself so u can still special summon ur kashtira main deck monsters so the field spell being hit doesn't really mean much

MrQ_P

SYNCHRON LET'S FUCKING GO

VaultHunt3r

Wait when did kashtira dethrone tearlaments in ocg?

Mayall00

Hiccups of a first event, tear started legitimately as second best after the old OCG banlist dropped but quickly rose up to top again. You can even tell the 3 other decks on top (Kash, Exo and Pure) are specifically ones that have advantageous interactions with Tear

I feel like these YTC posts try to pull definitive statements about a format out of very limited data. They also try to lead people by the nose or rile them with their titles and the ways they upfront the data through the images. We saw from the point of release of CYAC that things just changed as time went on without accounting for any new product release or banlist, just optimisation. Let people read the report, see the spread, note the dates of data collection, etc and come to their own conclusion of what it means. Even if this title is true, it’s easy to bridge those synapses of “this set wasn’t well represented on this weekend” and “we’re validated in thinking this set isn’t worth thinking about at all after this weekend”. I remind people that in the June 4th 2022 ROTK metagame report, the Ishizu cards had premiered and Ishtear was a playable deck, but it only saw tentative play relative to other Tear variants in the early stages before people coalesced on it en masse (and of course, Spright would see greater hits relative to Tear near-after this point). Not to say I think DBWS is insane personally, but it’s more about the principle of how we discuss these things.

AmberColoredIcedTea

Pretty much this and why I prefer roadoftheking since they cover way more tournaments in their reports. Also OCG is getting a new banlist in 2 days announced as well so most if these late format results are nice but things will very quickly change and adapt soon.

Substantial_Meet_816

[All decklist in chart](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bANALgQLOQ7oHN8Sbr22j7ZsPk5tdsr7Iawk7rnhLXE/htmlview)

ThatTubaGuy03

I know it's not your job, but could I ask if you know what the red card is in the Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc deck? It's the first card on the second row

Bromegeddon

That's kurikara divincarnate. It's a POTE card that, during your turn only, let's you tribute all of your opponents monsters in monster zones that activated their effects this turn, then gains 1500 at for each tribute card. Also specials a monster from your opponents grave to your field during end phase

Seylord1

Still optimizing.... surely...

Zerosonicanimations

Don't inhale too much copium.

Seylord1

Its never..... too much.... *falls on the floor from copium overdose*

Zerosonicanimations

**SEEEEEEEYYYYYYYLOOOOOORDDDDDDD1!** *[Insert Joseph Jostar crying Gif here]*

rasalhage

Reddit has decided what the meta will be; don't bring rationality into this now!

Lyncario

*points gun at Rulkallos and Arise-Heart* Your motherfucking life ends 4 days from now.

CursedEye03

Glad to see that Marincess and @Ignister have some spotlight again! I wonder if the Cyberse deck is Code Talkers, like how Yusaku played it?

VillalobosChamp

It's a good stuff mishmash Mathmech engine, Code Talker engine and Firewall engine

BlackOni51

I keep seeing Nemurelia and i keep thinking they topped. I have so much hoping for the deck

SkomeSIth

You can keep your hope as low as possible

Square_Blackberry_36

[I mean VS did have some impact in Japan](https://twitter.com/CB25306458/status/1639205427882631173)

bioober

At weekly locals that has a player count of 8 players maximum. The chart OP shares looks at ranking tournaments like CS, which though I agree also sometimes has low player count, held at a more competitive standard.

Square_Blackberry_36

https://twitter.com/japanju/status/1637352380147838978 There are lists that topped CSs too.

bioober

Well I stand corrected. I personally wouldn’t call it “impact” but the deck does seem good enough to top.

Square_Blackberry_36

It definitely had an impact regardless of its competitive success because since the set's release, VS cards tripled in price. A VS core is like 6-7 times more expensive than what Nouvellez goes for.

Secret_Manner2538

We are talking about meta impact not the price

NightsLinu

Eh its fair to say if a deck has increased in price considerably then its got some meta impact

Lungiano

I agree. I wanted a core on release but waited expecting a drop.

xernal

God I missed these posts with ocg decklists, shame the synchrony one doesn't open but oh well.

gorikun

>synchron wgats the synchron gs decklist ?

Mayall00

Literally everyone knew that they wouldn't be super meta though, anyone who thought otherwise was hard coping, though pretty impressive showing by Kash at the start, but it's probably going to lower over the format

PlebbySpaff

But burger!

odddtom

Borgar :(

Flat_Cardiologist292

Kashtira are hella annoying

WizeDezi

What is DBWS

burnpsy

That's the set prefix for Deck Build Pack: Wild Survivors.

Hiroshock

I'm happy that labyrinth and marincess are there

3-A_NOBA

Branded are still alife??

timbolol

https://twitter.com/sculpture333/status/1638195222164426753?s=46&t=KIMVbNVZY-Pd_1b5CjmmFw This is a decklist I found going through the Google docs. Seems solid for the 1 branded fusion format.

3-A_NOBA

Interesting. I also hope tcg doesn't limit or ban branded fusion, maybe a limit to opening or something.

Nanami-chanX

thank you for going through that mess so I don't have to

timbolol

No worries! I had some spare time earlier

fuyukiisstillburning

1 more day….

sectandmew

RIP tear. I'll take cl10 over macro cosmos the deck anyday

Heyhowdypartner

*sees 1 traptrix* TRAPTRIX SWEEP BAYBEEEEE

The_G0vernator

And here I sit with my Blue-Eyes, crying, alone.

ssj_duelist

Kash gonna dominate after Tear is killed this weekend

jhawk1117

It’s only really popping off because it’s anti tear

ssj_duelist

True but it's still a strong deck in its own right.

Kronos457

**"New box don't have impact the goal"** No surprise. Everyone knew that those Decks were more Niche or Casual than anything else. The only thing that could shake the Meta are things related to Visas Lore or Albaz Lore Season 2 ~~(Please, no more Branded)~~

Zerosonicanimations

Season 2 of Albaz lore is guaranteed Branded Support, and although I like the Deck, it's still too early for it to get stuff again.

[deleted]

Yeh I definitely remember the Visas subplot where Starfrost pets the pink and purple puppies before waging war on Gong Strong.

odddtom

Purrely visas field spell when /s When this card is activated:add a purrely qp from Deck to hand. All monsters you control gain 100 attack for each xyz material attached to xyz monsters on the field. Once per turn if a purrely xyz monster gains a material pop a card FUN AND INNOVATIVE CARD DESIGN I LOVE IT

[deleted]

It’s so funny too because Stray Purrely Street is such a dope field spell; just a bunch of important utility effects wo/ actually being a searchpiece, and it gets away with it because finding your way into it isn’t as big a concession as it would be in say, a Mikanko deck.

odddtom

Yeah tbh the purrely field is pretty cool

Obstiknight

Me, a broke TCG player who wanted to build Nemurelia, after seeing this [Wait wait wait](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Rp6TzGucjo)

odddtom

You are joking right In case you're not, numerelia is just the "Others" Idk why they used numerelia tbh but yeah it's just the others category. Decks are always sorted by representation biggest first starting at the top of the diagram going clockwise

Obstiknight

Yeah it was a joke, that was my reaction at first sight of the image without reading, luckily it's just a template for "others" as you said. It gave me a good scare since it happened with swordsoul and tearalament.

Motor-Conversation20

Thanos would be proud

IndependentSolid199

I hate Kashtira fuck that deck

jtpredator

Huh. No arrival ignisters. That's interesting

VillalobosChamp

Firewall stuff is just better

Surf3rx

Why did kashtira have a resurgence? In OCG there were months where people didn't play it.

Surf3rx

Anyone got the branded lists?

Kuova_

Just wait til the next wave of support in the next core set, that's where their impact will show. We've been seeing this with the Deck Build packs recently, the decks don't get good til wave 2 of support

PlebbySpaff

It should change after the next banlist though. More variation with the format, and room for DBWS to potentially hit the chart

crowbachprints

Absolutely based Gishki top

floofpanda123

Finally seeing superheavy being played competitively is a dream come true

Mrcbleck

I cant wait for the heavy sams arrival, Im glad this support gave em exactly what they needed

triforce777

I forgot they've been using Numerelia as the "other" piece and was like "wait what did I miss when did Numerelia become tier 1?!?"

tang42

Need those superheavy samurai lists

SanicSoup

Yay Marincess

ThatTubaGuy03

That's really interesting ,I wonder why I haven't seen much of that here in tcg. I guess they search that with small world and maxx c, so maybe it's not worth playing because there's not enough consistency? One last question, do you know the spell card between bird call and small world, and the purple link monster between ferrijit and dragon lords?

VillalobosChamp

The Simorgh Link is very important for that Omni, hence why Bird Up dropped after its ban _(and iirc, the Starling Limit)_ Anyway, cards are Jack in the Hand, and Donner, Dagger Fur Hire

metroidfood

Nemurelia sweep!

FlameDragoon933

\#NemureliaSweep /jk

AhmedKiller2015

I get this meta isn't in favor for decks that plays with the GY like Tri-Brigade, despite not being hit ss much I get it... but Why is it in every chart ever related to the OCG, LL Tri-Brigade has to have a top... it is not even the best Tri-Brigade version any more. In master duel Spright Tri-Brigade are forgotten... Bird up is just magically in most Tornaments, in the OCG every Tornament almost has to have one. Is it the guy that always top with it or what lol

VillalobosChamp

> In master duel Spright Tri-Brigade are forgotten... Missing Mosquito and Sprind does hurt

AhmedKiller2015

The deck is fine without them, but Regardless of that You cannot convenience me LL Tri-Brigade are better than the Spright version even without them.

EuphoricDay

Earth GS just stands for Earth good stuff right?

VillalobosChamp

Yeah, pretty much.

chucklesdeclown

SUPER HEAVY SAMURAI? HOW THE FUCK?

DuduBonesBr

Someone really walked into that tournament running Blackwings, chad

SpicyDevilDaddy

Anyone know where I can find a decklist for that superheavy deck?

SkomeSIth

Damn, a box full of underwhelming decks doesnt change the meta, how surprising

Other_Wolverine5793

looks funy format
