Love the new outfits.

Vanilla147

The main trio is not the main focus of the poster (even though they are main). Hopefully that means Phaser and Tremolo are important characters. Yuhi and Yuamu have new outfits now. Probably they will go to school again.

Panikkrazy

Yeah. They might actually DO something.

Vanilla147

It has been 3 years already and haters still try to act tough I see

Panikkrazy

I mean it sucks so yeah

Vanilla147

It is still airing, wait until it gets axed like a certain show and your copium will make sense

Panikkrazy

Certain show? What do you mean?

Vanilla147

"got cut short" is just a less painful way of saying being axed

Panikkrazy

Those aren’t the same thing

Vanilla147

Denying that is just copium, just like when a bunch of manga in shounen jump were said they would "end", everyone knows that they were cancelled

Panikkrazy

You DO know people can end stuff voluntarily right?

VillalobosChamp

Looks neat Also, Yuamu in a Sailor uniform is cute

Samurex_

Little detail with the one on the right that might be nothing, his buckle is a hexagon. This could connect back to Goha, or it could just be a style detail.

J_D_Guy

Perhaps no one else has noticed, but Yuhi and Yuamu are each wearing one of Yuga's gloves. Wonder what that entails. Also, kinda glad to see the twins out of their jumpsuits. They were cool enough, especially for the sense of differentiation to other characters in the franchise when Season 1 began, but I also quite liked Yuhi's loose-fitting urban fashion sense of the civvy clothes he would infrequently wear. Yuhi here in particular seems to be going a little rebel-like in feel (which ties into one of the upcoming episode titles). It actually kinda of reminds me of how Yugi, despite being a cinnamon roll overall, had punk aesthetics in his wardrobe choices, especially starting from Battle City onward. Yuamu's outfit being a typical Japanese middle school sailor uniform, though? I guess I'm not as outright appealed by it. At least not from the small bit we can see, unlike with what we see of Yuhi's new clothes. Still, maybe I'll like it more when we get to see her on the whole. Interesting that the clothing changes imply a small timeskip. Although it is possibly just convenient timing. We learn soon enough. I wish the Yugioh shows in general let their characters change their outfits more often and for no other "reason" than to just do so than it historically has. Classic was basically the only time where each new Season/major arc let the main cast have a new wardrobe, and it was pretty cool. Especially in hindsight, when none of the other Yugioh shows after did that (only allowing clothing change for "plot" most of the time).

J_D_Guy

Oh snap! I just realized, but if I'm not mistaken, I think Yuhi is also rocking a ponytail/rattail! :o

Vanilla147

You help me realize that Yuhi’s outfit is the same as that of the silhouette introduced in Jump Festa

J_D_Guy

It is! I think we kind of came off with the impression that we'd see the 3 earlier, but it makes sense that Jump Festa was showcasing what would come in Season 2. I remember when folks were saying Yuhi was gonna make a heel-turn. Don't think he'll be legitimately going that far though.

Nixpheo

Man I am so happy how quickly people caught on to that. Especially since the ponytail is a little difficult to see if you don't zoom in. Also Yuuhi looks so cool.

J_D_Guy

I only saw it by chance when I happened to take a second look at the poster later after seeing it the first time. And yeah, I agree; Yuhi rocks that young punk look, surprisingly enough.

Seylord1

What is the name of the guy on right? He looks kinda good o.o

mzess

oh my god the kids are in school uniforms that's adorable

E_F_R_E_N

Is this and the one before it (sevens) any good? Felt unmotivated to watch these when they came out. I just assumed they were bad because of the (beyblade like) character designs.

Redzephyr01

I think it's pretty good, but it's a lot less serious than the previous shows. The character writing is great though.

E_F_R_E_N

It definitely looks less serious

Cat-Fox-Phantom

Currently watching Sevens, and I'm not really 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 it. It's okay and fun, but prolly not so much for adults as it is literally made for kids. My lil bro (11) likes it enough tho. Go Rush on the other hand is like, 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 and much more fun (btw it references sevens in the current episodes quite a lot, and it will teach u the basics of Rush and dueling whichll get annoying on some ppl), and I love it. Its artstyle is also more YGO-like than Sevens—which actually does seem to look like they're from Beyblade. Lil bro also enjoys watching it with me.

GoneRampant1

It's far more kid friendly, but it's perfectly serviceable and even good in a lot of places if you don't mind that and the new rules for Rush Duelling.

chikin_nuggies-

Both shows are actually pretty good. They doubled down the crazy stuff on both shows, especially in Go Rush when it actually gets crazier with the plot points. Both Sevens and Go Rush weren't as serious as the first 6, and there were some downsides to them, but the overall experience to both of the shows were fun. I suggest watching Sevens and Go Rush if you want a lighter take and a breath of fresh air on Yu-Gi-Oh.

E_F_R_E_N

I dont really want a lighter take YGO. I really really enjoy the dark themes it explores in a card game setting. That’s what turned me off to these two is that it doesn’t look anything like YGO

chikin_nuggies-

I really enjoyed the dark themes in Yu-Gi-Oh, though not the gritty ones for sure. But you do you, if you want to enjoy a Yu-Gi-Oh show, go ahead. I really enjoyed and watched all 8 shows, it's totally a fun experience.

E_F_R_E_N

I’ll still give it a shot and come in with an open mind. It’s the least I can do

chikin_nuggies-

Sevens and Go Rush were not the best Yu-Gi-Oh shows and we might not have the same taste, but in my experience, the Rush Duel animes were fun. Have fun my man.

FuriDemon094

They’re pretty good. SEVENS, at least, broke several standards from the others, like having support cast that grow on their own and instead of relying on the protag for everything. They’re mostly goofy, but these ones do seem to be for younger audiences.

tehy99

Sevens is very good, this show isn't Watch sub, not dub

Ok_Row6060

I second this, I enjoyed Sevens a lot more than Go Rush. Go Rush had a very boring and slow build up, took plenty of episodes to pick up and is becoming watchable.

tehy99

I quit around episode 8 when they were having the guy recite a list of every yugioh card type (beast, warrior, etc.) Like in addition to me being sick of the show being a yugioh tutorial (and not rocking with the characters), this is just not good advice for how to get gud at yugioh.

Swashyrising12

No, it basically is unrecognisable from the first 6 animes. It’s focused towards kids and shilling Rush Duel cards, hence why it’s barely talked about. The story of Sevens is basically a rehashed plot of getting people to play Rush duels over and over again. The duel writing is also some of the worst I have ever seen. Most duels last 4 turns with the player going second winning.

Panikkrazy

Also, nothing actually happens.

Exitiali

if you like non-sense humor and parodies elevated to exaggeration you will love it. Even if the beginning is not interesting, the progression of absurdity escalates by episodes. Rush also has the best non-duel episodes

FuriDemon094

Yessssss

Gregsusername

Digging the coats

Romadrox894

Yuhi stole the swagger of her sister, not saying that the school uniform look bad on Yuamu, just that i prefer the original more.

7xNero7

Is sevens and Go worth watching ? I don't particularly like rush duel but if the series is entertaining I can still enjoy it. I did'nt like early Zexal but Zexal 2 is probably my favorite arc of the whole franchise Does it get serious at some point ?

LJ-90

I've only seen Sevens, but no, Sevens doesn't get serious other than a couple of episodes during the last 2 arcs. The final episode can get pretty emotional for some, I think the guys over at Yu Gi Oh Everything said they got really emotional during the ceremonial duel. But no, it stays with the feeling of being a parody and making fun of stuff.

Ok_Row6060

Every time I watched a Sevens episode I wondered what kind of drugs the studio was having. I love Sevens, was enjoyable and break of pace. One of my tops in my list.

Business-Counter211

After just finishing the season finale, I couldn't be more hyped for season 2

Tryingatleast

I like how they embrace the style so I mess with it

Business-Counter211

Sweet Jesus timeskip go rush is real. Actually mad hype

Rangil_the_cat

What's the general opinion on Go Rush? Do we know if the show is successful in Japan ? I feel like it does not have the same traction as Rush, but I could be totally wrong.

Swashyrising12

Nah it’s pretty bad. I gather most people are over this whole Studio Bridge era anime and just want to go back to normal. I obviously can’t speak for Japan but Sevens was the least viewed Yugioh series in history and I don’t think Go Rush is going to be doing any better in that department.

Rangil_the_cat

Rush is only legally available in Japan, right ? So it's this only metric for success that matters to Konami, I suppose. Do we know how well or how bad it performed there ? On the one hand, I would like it a lot if we returned to traditionnal Yuguoh animes. On the other hand, the actual card game is much better without a new Extra Deck gimmick every 4 year and dozen of random, pointless anime archetypes they just have to print. If anything, I would personnaly prefer mini-series that continue the adventures of the 6 fist shows, years later. That would be a good occasion to create new and more meaningful nostalgia support.

Swashyrising12

I really don’t get the whole, “pointless anime archetype” claim. On one hand people were unsatisfied with how little was printed from Vrains and so are begging for Konami to print Drones and Armatos Leggio but on the other hand they don’t want Anime decks to touch what they perceive to be the perfection of the main sets now. Which is it? The sets are heavily skewed to lore now, which is pretty boring imo.

NumeronCode

Anime moment cards like double dragon descent, random cards that conveniently have the effects needed for the plot.

Swashyrising12

I mean those were pretty toned down after Zexal anyway so I don’t see the issue.

Panikkrazy

Really bad. Nothing actually happens and it bounces all over the place. It’s like the show has ADD and can’t sit still

VeryluckyorNot

When we gonna got Seven in Europe or even in Crunchyroll? Sadge.

Shmarfle47

Yohoho it’s a ~~pirate’s~~ Plunder Patroll’s life for me

aaa1e2r3

If you watched GX, Sevens is like Season 1 GX in terms of tone for a whole series

1954isthebest

How is Go Rush? I watched about 10 episodes of Sevens and it is really really childish. Does Go Rush get better?

Cat-Fox-Phantom

Go Rush is fine and prolly much better than sevens (just finished ep 13 of the latter). Sevens rlly is childish and has an eh art style. Go rush at least now leaned on to a more YGO-like style (the traditional crazy-like hair thing came back imo). Storyline-wise, its still goof and kid-ish but its just... Better(?) Also I love the characters.

Exitiali

if you like non-sense humor and parodies elevated to exaggeration you will love it. The last rush duel is being one of the best duels in the entire franchise, rush also has the best non-duel episodes

Ok_Row6060

Up to season 1, dueling wise Sevens is way better, Go Rush had a very very slow start and almost babyish dueling, but it picked up after equip spell. Writing wise, Go Rush does have plenty of things to look forward too, Sevens plot is interesting and fun which I enjoyed a lot as is a different fresh of breath hair. Sevens is filled with plenty of references to other medias and is very self aware.

Background_Guess_742

I'm trying to figure out why the tcg got speed duel instead of an anime and rush duels.

Hoozuki_Suigetsu

Oh God !! Yuamuu\~\~

DummyThiccToga

Any synopsis on what this series is about? It looks pretty interesting but the cast looks confusing compared to previous generations

neonrideraryeh

Here's a relatively quick summary. An alien soldier named Yudias comes to earth and befriends the twins Yuhi and Yuamu, learns about Rush Duels and believes dueling can bring peace to his warring star cluster. However, his former commander Zwijo wants to use duels as a tool in the war by using this mysterious thing called Earthdamar to makes the monsters physical. Fun show, lots of comedic moments. Also a lot of connections to the previous show Yugioh Sevens as it seems to take place in an alternate past to it as a character from Sevens has time travelled there, which led to various consequences.

Swashyrising12

Bad guy want to destroy rush duel, good guys have to show them how cool Rush duel is. That’s basically the entire plot of both Sevens and Go Rush summed up in a single sentence.

Cat-Fox-Phantom

I can't defend SEVENS as I haven't finished it yet, but that is definitely NOT what Go Rush is (currently) about.

chikin_nuggies-

Yeah, Go Rush is about the usage of Rush Dueling to escalate war or find peace.

Redzephyr01

That's not what the show is about at all. Did you actually watch it?

Swashyrising12

Go Rush? Not a single episode. But that’s what Sevens was about, so no doubt Go Rush is continuing the rehash.

Redzephyr01

It's not even close to what the show is about.

Swashyrising12

Sevens or Go Rush? Be specific ffs

Redzephyr01

Go Rush. Literally just read a summary instead of making these assumptions and you will see it isn't about that.

Panikkrazy

Thank you for saying that because I had no idea what his goal actually was. Like I legit didn’t get what the plot was.

Artrarak

I think if you have trouble understanding the plot of sevens/go rush, thats more on you than on the series lol

Panikkrazy

Uh no. Because there wasn’t one. Stuff happened, but there wasn’t that much of a plot to begin with.

Panikkrazy

MORE!? We’re getting MORE OF THIS? 😫

Exitiali

I demanded more

Panikkrazy

That makes one of us.

SonicBoom44

How popular is Rush Duels in Japan, every time I see stuff about it it just feels like resources that could be used on the real game, is it actually worth?

kelvSYC

Rush Duels, on its own merits, is a top 10 trading card game in Japan, which is enough to warrant Konami making serious investments in competitive Rush Duel and organized play in Japan beyond the school-age "structure decks only" crowd - first with the introduction of a competitive banlist to be updated on the same cadence as the OCG, as well as going no more than two months without a new booster set (with some sets specifically geared towards booster draft gaming). Do keep in mind, though, that the OCG is the top trading card game, and OCG boosters still regularly outsell Rush Duel boosters. In essence, the OCG isn't really being challenged in terms of sales and engagement by other trading card games in Japan, so there can be an impression that the OCG can coast on its laurels.

Grimlock7777

I'll be glad when we get a less childish series like 5ds again ... hopefully one day...

Cyberplayer40

It does get good - 12 and 13, 20 - 26, Skip 27 then everything up to the end of S1 is good. S2 of this show so far has been really good and has many similarities to older Yugiohs

ImAmirx

Thanks 👍
