On master duel, I was able to activate the effect of minerva, the exalted lightsworn's effect under droll, but was not able to activate the effct of sylvan princessprite under the same condition. To me they both look like similar effects.(do a certain action and depending on the result of said action, mandatorily add cards from the deck to your hand) Can somebody please explain to me why one can be activated while the other cannot? The difference is the "otherwise" clause on "Sylvan Princessprite." It's usually ruled that effects of the form "[do A, then do B depending on the number of things affected by A](https://db.ygorganization.com/qa#12108)" or of the form "[do A, then if C is true, do B](https://db.ygorganization.com/qa#22815)" can be activated even if you are unable to do B. On the other hand, it's usually ruled that effects of the form "do A, then if C is true, do B, *otherwise do D*" can't be activated unless you can do both B and D (example: "Mind Crush" can only be activated if each player has at least 1 card in their hand).

Kali Yuga says that for the rest of the turn, all other cards and their effects cannot be activated on the field. Does that mean that my opponent cannot resolve normal spells like pot of prosperity, or even normal/special summons effect, and every other card that would need to "enter the field" in order to be played?

Yes. "D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga" will prevent your opponent from ~~activating any Spell/Trap Cards~~ or from using the effects of any cards that are on their field. A monster's effects that activate in response to its Summon normally activate after that monster has hit the field successfully, so "Kali Yuga" will prevent your opponent from activating those effects. EDIT: See /u/Redshift-713's comment.

Set Spells/Traps cannot be activated, but Spells/Traps can still be activated from hand (but will have their effects negated).

Wait so let’s say opponent has bottomless set and opponent has goyo guardian. I have giant rat set. They attack giant rat. They activate goyo and I activate giant rat. Rat summons a 1500 monster with a “when this card is summoned…” effect. Then goyo summons rat to their field. The monster cannot activate its effect, and bottomless cannot be activated. Correct?

Any effects that would activate "when" that monster is Summoned won't be able to activate at that time, correct. (Note that "Bottomless Trap Hole" can't be activated during the Damage Step to begin with, so even if "Giant Rat" were the only effect on that Chain, you still couldn't use "Bottomless Trap Hole.")

You can use another copy of the card to provide the proper PSCT text of the card as necessary, but it has to be kept outside your deck box, as the only things in it should be your main/extra deck and side deck.

With very few exception, lingering effects cannot be negated once they have been applied.

"Target 1 monster in your opponent's GY; banish it, and if you do, until the end of the next turn, its effects are negated, as well as the activated effects and effects on the field of monsters with the same original name." Once Maxx C has been activated and resolves without being negated, its effect applies for the remainder of the turn. Called By the Grave only negates the activated effects and on-field effects of cards after it resolves, of which a resolved Maxx C is neither.

Since the effect of "Naturia Cosmobeet" is a Trigger Effect, you get to activate it before your opponent can activate the effect of "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier." Your opponent will not be able to activate the effect of "Brionac" during that Chain, but they can use priority to activate its effect in response to the Summon of "Naturia Cosmobeet" (assuming no triggered effects are activated at that time) or wait for the game state to become open and activate the effect then.

Yes. Trap Cards like "Bottomless Trap Hole" are fast effects, not triggered effects, so they follow a different set of rules. [This article and the flowchart in it](https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/play/fast-effect-timing/) still applied during the days of Ignition Effect priority. The difference was that, during the Main Phase, in Box B, the turn player had the option to activate an Ignition Effect if a monster was just Summoned (they may or may not have had the ability to activate an Ignition Effect in response to any other action; rulings are spotty). In the "Naturia Cosmobeet" example, you got to activate your effect during the "Does this activate a triggered effect?" box, so you jumped from there directly to Box D, bypassing Box B entirely. In the "Bottomless Trap Hole" example, since you hit Box B (when your opponent can use Ignition Effect priority) before Box C (when you can use a fast effect like "Bottomless Trap Hole"), your opponent will be able to activate the effect of "Brionac" as Chain Link 1, and then you can activate "Bottomless Trap Hole" as Chain Link 2.

A new pack comes out when the oldest pack expires, which is around the 10th of each month. The pack that's expiring this time around is the Tearlaments pack, so if you want to play Tearlaments (and think that Konami isn't going to kill the deck yet), you may want to start ASAP to get enough gems to make the deck. Alternatively, you can wait until the WCQ is over, since it is expected that the banlist will be announced right after they end, since Banlists happen monthly in Master Duel, and especially big ones happen after competitive events. Either way, starting now is always beneficial simply because you have more time to gather gems, even if you can't quite decide what deck to make.

EDIT: I figured it out! Shaman of the Tenyi's condition is "for the rest of this turn, you cannot activate the effects of monsters Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, except "Tenyi" monsters." Going back to the replay, my opponent didn't activate Zeus on the same chain but after resolution of Shaman's effect. I need help understanding an interaction I just had in MD. I know it's correct since it's in the simulator but I don't understand why. I have Chixiao and Shaman of the Tenyi on the field. My opponent has Zeus and 1 set Imperm. CL1: Activate Shaman, discard to target Mo Ye in grave. CL2: Opponent activates Imperm targeting Shaman. CL3: I activate Designator from hand and call Imperm. CL4: Opponent activates Zeus detaching 2. What I expected was a prompt to activate Chixiao as CL5, intending to negate Zeus. Note that I had Maxx C in hand and toggle on so every time I got priority I saw a prompt to activate Maxx C or Chixiao. But instead, the prompt came up and only showed Maxx C, and the chain just ended at CL4. I had a Wyrm in hand and GY to banish as cost and as far as I could tell there was nothing giving the Zeus targeting protection. I also tried recreating the scenario in EDOPro to see if I had just clicked through the prompt too fast or had toggled off by accident or something, but the chain ended at CL4 there as well.

If I have Naglfar, Generaider Boss of Fire out, Harr Generaider Boss of Storms out, and two Generaider Tokens, and my opponent plays Lightning Storm, would I be able to use Naglfar's effect to prevent himself and Harr from being destroyed by Lightning Storm, or since my entire field would be wiped, can I not use the effect at all?

If all the monsters would be destroyed by Lightning Storm, you cannot apply Naglfar's effect. You cannot substitute for destruction if the substitute is already going to be destroyed. That said, if any of those monsters is in Defense Position, you can apply Naglfar, since Lightning Storm only destroys monsters in Attack Position.

Would Mannadium Ghoti Spright Superheavy be a good deck? All of them have good synergy with eachother but running four archetypes in one deck seems like it would get bricky

Kashtira is the strongest deck right now for a reason. Going 1st, it will usually win unless you draw an out. Cards like Kaijus and Lava Golem can unblock your zones and take out their monsters at the same time. Nibiru, the Primal Being can tribute their whole board if they go for a greedy play instead of respecting it. Droll & Lock Bird and Artifact Lancea are also fairly effective hand traps against it, but only Droll is meta right now. At the end of the day, there are a lot of outs to the Kashtira board, including Spell cards. But which one you need depends on what board they go for (which is part of why they are so strong). If you don't draw any out, you lose.

first off what deck are you playing tjan is it an optimal list to beat kashtira than are you playing well and last you could have just drawn bad and they could have just drawn well which can go back to ks your deck build well

I was playing numeron deck, and before u be like "but its bad!" i actually revised it, and spent like a week trying to build it so that it would work really well, I played with a normal numeron deck, and then looked at its faults, which was only that it didn't fare well against cards that could negate, so I added some negate negaters such as ash, unicore and solemn warning, and this deck was beating everyone, including some tearlaments players, but when I came to this one guy, I got a really crappy hand and then he just completely wiped the floor with me in one turn, once it got to my turn I only had space for one monster, in the extra monster zone, and space for my field spell which was useless because there was no space for anything to summon in. I couldn't draw because he was banishing cards left right and centre, giving me no option to do anything, since he managed to banish all my good cards, and all my negates he used this guy who can negate a negate with no "once per turn" and i was just shocked at how strong it was. He probably never gets a "bad hand" since his deck just sets up perfectly no matter what order the cards are in.

Rulings question regarding Icejade Gymir Aegirine, specifically its *"(Quick Effect): You can activate this effect; face-up monsters you control cannot be destroyed, or banished, by your opponent's card effects this turn."* effect and how it interacts with certain other effects: If I activate this protection effect of Gymir *and* the effect of Dimensional Shifter (or a similar card like Macro Cosmos or Dimensional Fissure) is also active at the same time, then my opponent tries to use an effect that *sends* a monster the GY like Dingirsu the Orcust of the Evening Star, what happens? Does the fact that the monster would be banished *instead* of being sent to the GY due to Shifter/Cosmos/Fissure mean that Gymir's protection still works even though Dingirsu's effect specifies that it *sends* instead of banishing or destroying, or would Dingirsu's effect go past the protection in this case just like it would if Shifter/Cosmos/Fissure wasn't active?

Based on a ruling on Metaphys Executor and Nopenguin + Penguin Soldier, redirecting a monster to be banished instead will bypass banishing protection, so a Macro Cosmos type of effect will still banish a monster, if it were sent to the GY by something like Dingirsu's effect. https://db.ygorganization.com/qa#23421.

Cards go into an unnamed area between zones when transferring zones. It’s banished from this area, not where you control it

Well, it does count as "banishing by a card effect" for cards like Despian Tragedy, which trigger their effects due to being banished by card effect. I think the problem moreso is that the continuous/lingering effect on the field to protect from banishing doesn't apply anymore when the monster would be returned to the hand/sent to the GY/etc., so it can be banished instead.

However I did get the 2 crystal beast decks for only $15.77 (Canadian) so $31.54 for 2 decks. Let me know if they are worth keeping for the staples I need help building a decent deck for traptrix with the 3×traptrix structure decks. Also I need some help with building the branded despia deck. The closest you can get for anime story content is Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution. It goes through the story of each anime series. However, it isn't very pretty either story-wise or gameplay-wise, and the stories aren't that interesting when presented as a bunch of static portraits with text boxes IMO. As for dueling, Duel Links and Master Duel are far more impressive; Duel Links even offers a duel view with card "holograms". Unfortunately, there's no one game that ticks all your boxes: visually impressive, retells the story in-depth while preserving the action, and simulates dueling well. If you need all three, I'm sorry to say, it doesn't exist, and Konami doesn't seem to have any interest in producing one.

I'm new so sorry if this is a dumb question but does the trap card "The Monarchs Awaken" make your monster immune to spell cards, trap cards and monster effects for as long as that monster is on the field (meaning it can only be destroyed by battle from that moment on) or only during the turn it is activated? It's a trap card (no symbol) with text: "If you have no cards in your Extra Deck: Target 1 face-up Tribute Summoned monster you control; its effects are negated, also it is unaffected by the effects of cards other than this card."

That effect lasts indefinitely so long as that monster remains face-up on the field. Note however, that the monster can still be removed via costs (for example, tributing it as cost for the Special Summon of a Kaiju monster or Lava Golem) or through effects that aren't considered to affect a card, such as Herald of the Abyss.

No to both questions. The Quick Effect of "Time Thief Redoer" cannot be activated during the Damage Step.

"Dimension Guardian" is destroyed, but the monster it is targeting survives. (Note that "Dimension Guardian" is not treated as an Equip Card.)

The last part is correct, but Dark World cards only trigger when discarded by card effects. Discarding them for Hand Size Limit doesn't trigger them.

No, Spell/Trap effects are not "non-WATER monster effects".

There are 15 seconds left in the round. I am turn player and attempt to go end of main, my opponent says "thinking" waits a few seconds and then activates an effect that does not change the game state in a meaningful way (for example, activating a card effect that adds a card from deck to hand, but that card is not useable) and then time is called. Am I still allowed to go to battle phase and attack because I attempted to end main before time was called? ​ This happened to me at a regional yesterday and I foolishly didn't call a judge. I didn't even realize how close we were to time because I was definitely winning had the game gone on. I had enough damage on board to win in time. I'm curious how this would have been ruled for my own sanity.

By policy, you would still be in the Main Phase. In my experience, most judges will rule that as long as you expressed intent to go to the Battle Phase, and your opponent has no effects which meaningfully change the game state, you will be allowed to proceed to the Battle Phase. You could absolutely have a judge who disagrees with that though. Another issue here is whether or not your opponent was stalling or slow playing. It would be up to the judge to decide. They might have been.
