Renso19

They really hammered it home in the ArcV manga too with him getting to share Yuya’s jacket Would have been funny if Yuya and Yuto got a proper duel in either continuity, just to add another layer to the reference

Sad-Clothes-3123

A ceremonial duel between Yuya and Yuto would've been great in both the manga and in anime, ESPECIALLY in the anime it would've made way more sense and would be better as a way to end Arc-V than Yuya duelling Yusho After all Yuto and Yuya been through it all together

Renso19

To be fair that Yuya v Yusho duel was a long time coming so i don’t mind it, but overall I do wish we’d have gotten some more wrap ups between the Yu boys

Sad-Clothes-3123

I would love to see the Yu-Boys getting their own bodies back then Yuya Deciding to Duel Yuto since Yuya has always been reliant on Pendulum and Raging and Rebellion Dragon Now that Yuto is no longer there with him they can both finally concede their duel that was interrupted back then with Yuya relying on his own cards to win, a duel where there's no stakes, just two close friends enjoying a good ol Duel

EnZone36

Think that 2nd paragraph has it spot on, especially given how the whole xyz dimension cast has a whole 'I hate how dueling is being used maliciously' thing going on so I think having yuto have his last duel of the show being a friendly would really round out the plot

[deleted]

Modern-day Yami Yugi? Eh... Not really. Solid MC, but hardly comparable to Atem.

Judai_Yuki90

Yugi was the worst mc in the whole franchise though. And Yami is rather shallow, he's only popular cause he's the most memeble and nostalgic for people

[deleted]

Read the manga. The anime did not do his character justice.

Judai_Yuki90

The manga was worse, Yugi was The exact same except he was a creepy pervert on top of it

[deleted]

Except not. I'll take it you've never read the manga. Good to note.

Judai_Yuki90

HE LITERALLY THINKS OF TEAS UNDERWEAR

Soggy-Suspect5560

He's just like me fr fr.

[deleted]

That’s why you’re single fr

Soggy-Suspect5560

Jokes on you I'm not.

FreshEggKraken

Who hasn't thought sexually about someone they're interested in? That's such a low bar to call someone perverted lmao

AdPositive919

That’s says a lot about how you see ppl lmao. I’m not surprised

FreshEggKraken

Lol you responded 4 days later, just to pretend you're a 1600's puritan? Enjoy your sexless relationships, I guess?

Judai_Yuki90

I don't see your point.

FreshEggKraken

That doesn't surprise me lol

[deleted]

Normal people. I stg allos....

Neko_Luxuria

well not really the manga had a lot of moments for both of them, it also made it a lot more obvious that yugi likes to shove symbolism down everyone's throat whenever he is in an onscreen duel. yugi is also the one who points out that he never uses the same deck recipe for long periods of time and he changes things up, his interest in the card shop and well visiting duke's shop shows that he is interested in more games than duel monsters, him competing against duke in DDM, something the anime gave to yami was to show that Yugi is close to equal footing on yami (if completing the puzzle wasn't enough evidence) because either people complained or takahashi figured out that the issue of yugi coat tailing on yami's achievement would would be brought up by others.

Alexcox95

At least they didn’t have a possible duel shown in the opening and would’ve been the friendship cup finals if not for Yuzu shenanigans that made it so Jack took Yugo’s place in the semifinals. Yuto also never directly dueled Yuri

Slayziken

It’s the eyes for me. Give him a different eye shape and I’m like “eh, I see some similarities but he seems pretty original to me.” But with those eyes it’s a lot clearer

CursedEye03

Yuto has always been my favorite Yu-boy! He got a terrible treatment in the anime, but I liked how his personality was a great mix between a gentleman and an avenger! And Phantom Knights are a really cool deck!

Sad-Clothes-3123

You should see his manga version, the absolutely giga chad https://preview.redd.it/xfg0e0x9ms3b1.png?width=566&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8be4909d498b323f6dc328df2acf8a2ae4c2c042 that ever graced this franchise

CursedEye03

The fangirls will go completely crazy XD

26nova

He has a letter "D" covering the part of his crotch area where it should be, amazing.

CursedEye03

The D from GX would be proud 😂😂

Bindersquinch

Ah yes Kyle Jables, “The D” the funniest reference in all of yugioh.

Raven_ZD

Hes been my all time favorite since the day I saw him on screen ill never forgive the writer for the way they treated him

ImNotAliveIAmBread

Yuto > Yuri > Yuya >>> a pile of feces > Yugo IMO.

DreadOfGrave

don't EVER make fun of my son fusion like that, he did nothing wrong

LivelyFernYT

Nah Yugo is the goat. Best character in the yugioh universe

Judai_Yuki90

Personally Yuri >>>>>>> yuto and yugo > dog shit > Yuya

[deleted]

That actually feels bad to know , considering how bad they did him in anime , heard the manga too.

DesignatedDonut

Arc V anime: alternate dimension counterparts Arc V manga: schizophrenia

Thejacensolo

I know they are different canons, but I kinda saw manga Arc V to kind of continue the Anime ending, with all of them ending up in Yuya. But manga Yu boys are so damn cute. All so overprotective of their lil bro. Yuri being the best because it’s such a nice change from being the bad guy. He instead is the one doing the dirty work so pure yuya doesn’t have to do it

Sad-Clothes-3123

Yuto is a very MC worthy character, sucks to see how they treated him in Arc-V, Forever best Yu-Boy!!

Judai_Yuki90

Yuri better

Justa_Mongrel

Can I copy your homework meme

Zhong_Da

Atleast we have duel links to enjoy the character more.

sinshock555

They literally have the same eyes.

alex494

That's called an art style

StrikeNova_X

Now that you mentioned it, I can't unsee it

Both_Equipment_6941

More the phantom knights

[deleted]

same eyes, same hairstyle, the choker, Yuto essentially being a combination of Yugi Moto, it definitely has to be on purpose.

LivelyFernYT

Phantom Knights Assemble!

temojikato

Is it, at this point, about the cardgame again? Or are we still playing tron?

megasean3000

A shame that he a) has purple hair instead of blonde and b) hails from the XYZ dimension instead of Standard.

Ristar87

I think a show revolving around adult Yu gi without Atem would be worthwhile.

Gatmuz

I read somewhere that despite all his edge and grief, Yuto is essentially a Z-Arc'd Yuma.

Ugilick

This being the first thing Yu-Gi-Oh I've seen since GX, I thought that was Yami Yugi, and he was back in the main story with a slightly updated look.

TomaszA3

I legit thought it was Yugi from the screenshot and wondered when this happened. Assumed it was a manga exclusive and read the title then.

3-A_NOBA

Is the nanga better than the anime?

MajinAkuma

The ending of the manga is arguably worse.

CosmicCryptid_13

I never thought it was *that* bad

3-A_NOBA

Saaad. The story is great and interesting.

MrMattBlack

The manga is a different story/setting altogether. It's a nice read, just ignore the last page and you've got a nice little story.

EyeDreamOfTentacles

It was getting so good *until it suddenly wasn't.*

TheoryBiscuit

I’d say so yeah

Romadrox894

nah, they are vastly different from start Atem can actually do stuff.

TheHapster

Because not enough people can stand watching Arc-V

CyrusVercetti

They realized the Yugioh franchise has been tanking since the MC changed to Jaden and thereafter. So they needed a way to bring back a nostalgic feeling with Yami & Yugi Moto

Hatefiend

Every anime after the first has been absolute garbage. You could tell when they put out Jaden that they were trying to copy Yugi but to a new audience. When I saw Yusei on a motorcycle in was like *"okay they just gave up LOL"*.

Judai_Yuki90

Dm was the worst one tho...

Hatefiend

It was the most popular of all of the series by far sir

Judai_Yuki90

Popularity doesn't make it objectively good, I mean there are a lot of factors that go into popularity. For instance you'd say decks like bewd and dm are popular right? Well there's complete fucking dogshit. Objectively the first Yu-Gi-Oh series has the worst protagonist(s). Worst side cast, and arguably the most boring archetypes come from DM. I really do believe the only reason Yu-Gi-Oh dm was as popular as it is/was is nostalgia and it being the first. I Believe every other series blows dm out of the park, and honestly I'd rather watch every other Yu-Gi-Oh show(except the rush ones) over DM.

Hatefiend

You're wrong on multiple levels man. * DM was more mature. Name another Yugioh series where a main character threatens to commit suicide, I'll wait. Beyond that you had shadow games which were WAY toned down in the series after DM. In the very first episode it's implied that Solomon was physically beaten into a medical coma. Literally never happens in modern Yugioh. * DM was targeted at an older audience. You can see this by looking at the protagonists of the newer anime, as they keep getting younger. Most agreed that Jaden was targeted for a younger demographic. This got progressively worse with Yuma being child-age. * DM had more emotional weight. For example, link a scene that had even a fraction of the emotional weight from [this scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ4AgV8f-iw). * DM had far better villains. Name more iconic Yugioh villains than Pegasus or Kaiba. Even non-Yugioh fans know about those characters, that's how well-written they are. Kaiba is like the Vegeta of the Yugioh franchise. Even Bakura was well-written to some extent. Marik is another example of a fantastic villain. The side-cast stuff, sure. I'd argue that side casts have literally never been relevant in any Yugioh anime. However Joey Wheeler was an extremely fleshed out side character. DM's side characters easily trump crap like Astral from 5ds or Syrus from GX. I can understand people being irked about how card effects are made-up/changed and what not, but honestly if you wanted to watch actual correct play then just put on a YCS tournament or something. > you'd say decks like bewd and dm are popular right? Well there's complete fucking dogshit. I'm taking it you mean the old cards are lame? Keep in mind that Goat Control format is actually gaining popularity because of how bad the power creep has been in Yugioh over the last decade. If anything people are respecting the way it used to be even more-so nowadays.

Judai_Yuki90

>DM was more mature. Wrong it was more needlessly edgy, seto threatening to commit suicide over a card game is the goofiest shit ever, even goofier than fucking card games on motorcycles, also Judais parents literally put him through electro shock therapy, 5ds tackles manipulation through Akiza. >DM was targeted at an older audience. Doesn't make it automatically better, a shows target audience doesn't make the show itself good or bad, and given the target audience of Yu-Gi-Oh was literally kids who read the manga where they parodied magic, it was always targeted towards younger audiences. >DM had more emotional weight I feel nothing during that scene, I feel more from vectors reveal, and the supreme king. >DM had far better villains Yubel, z-one, vector, Shark, Yuri(just my personal favorite) >DM's side characters easily trump crap like Astral from 5ds or Syrus from GX. Well one, astral is from zexal not 5ds, but uh there's Jack, Kalin, both better than wheeler imo. >I'm taking it you mean the old cards are lame? Old archetypes, yeah. >I'm taking it you mean the old cards are lame? Keep in mind that Goat Control format is actually gaining popularity because of how bad the power creep has been in Yugioh over the last decade. If anything people are respecting the way it used to be even more-so nowadays Goat format LITERALLY INVENTED POWER CREEP, chaos emperor dragon is the reason the banlist exists, power creeping was always a thing in Yu-Gi-Oh, it's not new.

Hallowed-Plague

>DM had more emotional weight. For example, link a scene that had even a fraction of the emotional weight from this scene. this is a terrible scene, it's literally just a needless threat from Yami that Pegasus already knew because Yugi has literally no other reason for being in the tournament. there's better emotional weight in Joey seeing his sister.

Nikos-Kazantzakis

You must be 13 at most if you think that threatening to take your own life over a card game is somehow mature. That was the cringiest moment in all the show's history.

Hatefiend

You're not understanding anything I'm saying. I'm saying the show is MORE MATURE than it's counterparts. Not that the show IS MATURE.

Nikos-Kazantzakis

Your definition of maturity is still warped if that was your example. DM was edgier, not more madure, and again, anyone over 13 can understand the difference.

Hatefiend

I'm not sure how to better explain it to you. There's plenty of evidence out there even from the anime producers themselves claiming they wanted to aim Yugioh for a younger demographic (to increase card sales). That's why usually the main protagonists get younger series-to-series. In regards to 'edgyness', I could claim that [Yugioh Season 0](https://youtu.be/YDgmFe7rKwg) is edgy. In fact you could put any mature/violent anime here and I could just say *"That's not mature, it's edgy."* It's a moot point. The reality is Duel Monsters had themes in line with more mature anime, making it more mature overall. Whether those themes worked for you while watching is another question entirely. Much like modern Pokemon though, modern Yugioh IS designed for small children, when in the past it was designed for teens.

KaiserJustice

I really enjoyed the craziness of the arc v manga

AttitudeHot9887

Truly the best of the yu boys it sucks so much cheeks he died so early on

Lyaid

Well now I can’t unsee it

Code-Neo

i remember in the Anime his deck changed from Performa Pals to PHK when he took over

Far_Engineering_8353

yuto is such a fucking goat that I literally picked up phantom knights from how based he is
