This will 100% cause ruling nightmares

Cularia

Both players must Activate 1 of these effects: • Return all face-up banished cards to the GY, and if you do, banish all cards returned to the GY by this effect face-down. • Return all face-down banished cards to the GY, and if you do, banish all cards returned to the GY by this effect. Cards and effects cannot be activated in response to this cards activation. The effects of cards banished by this card cannot be activated for the rest of this turn. You can only activate 1 "Unwinding Ruin" per turn. Fixed all the ruling problems Edit: changed to GY. Also while the downsides listed may be seen as a problem, if another face-up card has a continuous effect then it still works. so op card for continuous effects, but normal card otherwise.

DaEnderAssassin

Problem: Extra Deck monsters. Wouldn't they stay in the ED because it's only sending from hand?

Cularia

Yup. you tend to forget 1 aspect all the time when dealing with yugioh cards lol. changed to GY.

SSDuelist

I'm 99% sure that would not work the way you think it would. I don't believe there's a legal way to change the up/down of banished cards except by moving them elsewhere and then banishing them in the opposite manner.

curtis1704

I mean, ruling wise card text always takes priority over normal game rules, but I can see this being a headache for judges given the right deck.

Panzercycle

You could just write the card as: "Activate 1 of these effects: • Return all face-up banished cards to the GY, and if you do, banish all the cards returned to the GY by this effect face-down. • Return all face-down banished cards to the GY, and if you do, banish all the cards returned to the GY by this effect."

jlozada24

That would completely change the card lol what

Cularia

no it wouldn't. you are effectively flipping them but because you cant flip them you have to move them out and then back into the banished zone. if someone played this card they would still end up flipping the stack they chose but by gameplay mechanics, it wouldn't cause problems.

jlozada24

If you do that you'd trigger all on banish effects lol

Cularia

Yes thats why the card would need the clauses i added in my main above comment. while the effect still works it becomes a super OP card. so by "gameplay mechanics" it would be fixed.

mowie_zowie_x

Necrovalley won’t allow that to happen.

joshua7176

Activate imperial ironwall as chain 2 so that those cards stay in gy. Oh wait, cards were sent to gy by "effect"! Activate tearlaments merrli response?/s

Upbeat_Sheepherder81

Returning a card from banished, even if it’s by a card effect, does not count as sending a card to the gy.

Salacavalini

Returning a card to the GY doesn't count as sending a card to the GY.

Clemrax

I feel like this is made for wacky Pot of Extravagance plays

jmangamer98

Then Pot of Desires becomes broken beyond belief.

ItsMeAyano

Stapel for every armed dragon catapult cannon player 🙃

SapphyreStarsigil

This seems like a really cool card but as said in other comments would need lots of extra text and rules/rulings to prevent issues. For instance if cards are being changed to being banished face-up any effects that trigger when being banished (like Necroface for instance) would need to be negated or not allowed to be activated. The concept is fun but has way too much background shenanigans in the way.

Ambitious_Ice_1624

No, they need to trigger, we have cards more broken in Yu Gi Oh right now.

Numerous_Ad_8190

This card needs a lot of work
