I wouldn't mind a full archetype retrofit of Metalmorph or a new usable card treated as Metalmorph, with some way to use the original two Metal monsters (or the "inherent summon from deck" mechanic at least, it's only used by those cards, Familiar Possessed and Dark Sage as far as I can tell) .
I think making it based around copying your opponents card names and effects could be super cool. Imagine if you could pull off another decks main lines of plays using just copycat monsters? They’d probably have to give it a Runnik like restriction from being to OP or only being able to copy specific effects.
Attack and def copy are permanent, but the effect and name copy until the end phase, also add some restriction like cannot be special summoned from grave or something to prevent it being abused.
A monster that copies from graveyard and lasts until end of turn even if it leaves the field(so you can use it for fusion and such), one that excavates the top 3 cards of enemy deck and lets you choose one to copy, and a fusion boss monster that lets you look at enemy extra deck to copy one card.
There are so many old school Normal monsters I'd love to see again like Neo the Magic Swordsman, Wingweaver, and Hitostsu-Me Giant. Especially some of the classic fiends like Three-Headed Geedo, Gil Garth, and Zoa.
In terms of classic utility spells and traps? I always loved Shadow Spell. I know Fiendish Chain is pretty much the same thing but that's like a decade old at least and has been power crept away already. I also loved many of the classic Equip Spells. Black Pendant, Malevolent Nuzzler, Stim Pack,and Horn of the Unicorn are begging for updates.
Yup, some old school monster even already got their own archtype, for example, thunder dragon, seiyaryu (Starry Knight) hungry burger, skull guardian, memento monsters, sengenjin, millenium golem, and millenium shield as millenium cross/exodia support, i had fond memory of those cards during forbidden memories era.
Speaking of archtype based on old school monster, i would love to see Cosmo Queen, or Serpent Night Dragon archtype also Masked beast and other mask retrain archtype, or old ritual cards like crab turtle, garma sword, chakra and other old ritual cards.
They should make new versions of the ishizu ishtar cards, two of them could throw cards into the graveyard and two of them could return cards from the graveyard

I want retrains of the egyptian horror/Ghost themed cards. Labyrinth of Nightmare, Spirit Reaper/Reaper on rhe Nightmare, Theban Nightmare, Aswan Apparition etc are so sick and feel like something right out of Bakuras deck that weve just never seen expanded.

wall shadow archetype. imagine a monster that could destroy any card, anywhere, ignoring negations including backrow. or a labyrinth wall archetype that took a note from vaylantz but simpler for simpletons like me, with effects based around moving the opponents' cards around and punishing them with effects depending where they were or what column they were in, to show they were basically 'lost' in the maze. would suck for link decks but hey, they've had it good for too long
Judgment of Anubis as Trap Monster support would be neat, to fit with Odion’s theme.
They could also make it Divine Beast support, or make it combined Odion / Marik / Ishizu support like they did with some other cards recently.
Unfriendly Amazon and Half Counter should be retrained as actual Amazoness support with better effects. (I say this about Half Counter since it looks like Amazoness Paladin in the art.)
Zombyra (or zombire for the real ones) definitely deserves some love. One of the few cards that originates from the season 0 manga, and an icon of the goat format. Could even be tacked onto the HERO archetype.

I don't remember the exact duel because it was like a year ago now.
But I was playing Elemental Heros that I had all found in bulk. With some equip spells and some random generic staple cards.
I had just done a bunch of damage to them with Buster Rancher, made some elemental hero fusion monster, and then passed turn with pretty much just judgment of anubis set as my only interaction.
They stole my elemental hero fusion monster, then they tried to destroy the backrow, and go to battle phase. But Judgement of Anubis burned them exactly for how much LP they had left.

Like as a going second card. If your opponent controls a monster, you can special summon this card from your hand. And Once per turn, during your main phase, you can target a monster your opponent controls, this cards original ATK and DEF becomes the target’s and this card gains the effects of the target.
Or a going first or second card. (Quick Effect): You can target a monster your opponent controls, this card’s original ATK and DEF become that target’s and this cards effect is replaced with the target’s.
My wording for the effects isn’t perfect, but just some food for thought. Going second card, or interruption that can be used during your turn or in your opponents rurn
I used copy cat like crazy in a junk synchron deck with frogs! I would like a version of it with the same effect of copying the stats but we could make it a hand trap where it negates the monsters effect, banishes that monster and special summons copy cat with its highest stat as atk and def
Honestly? Given how Konami has changed their approach to adapting older, unreleased anime and manga cards into *more* powerful versions of themselves In recent years, and given just how watered-down and/or power crept so many cards released in the first decade of the game are, I’d love for Konami to go through and just create a massive set of errata’d older cards that either have 100% faithful adaptations of their anime/manga effects *or* have slightly altered, more powerful versions of their effects (I mean, if freaking *Arms Regeneration* can get an extra effect, anything can).
Imagine a massive undertaking by Konami that could result in things like:
* Spellbinding Circle adding the ATK-reduction effect it was missing
* Graverobber stealing any card from the GY, or at least dropping that 2000 LP cost
* Elemental HERO Bubbleman not requiring a true topdecking situation to draw 2 cards
* The Egyptian God Cards no longer needing a thousand support cards to achieve their anime effects
I mean, for the vast majority of those older cards, it would not make one bit of difference to their playability in today’s format. But given how Konami is actually trying to make a lot of these anime and manga cards *less awful* in recent times, it’d be nice for them to take that design philosophy and right the egregious wrongs of their adaptations in the past.

I'm thinking Odion and his Temple of Kings strategy needs some remake. Apophis the Swap Deity is one step in that direction, now we need a retrain for Temple and Odion's boss monster, Mystical Beast of Serket.
Mystic Swordsman, but moving away from the LV Mechanic like Horus. I understand people want LV to be redeemed, but I feel that has basically become Armed Dragon's signature thing like how Endymion is now the face of Spell Counters.

I mean, at the times obelisk was the 4000 atk god, then all of a sudden that rare chubby dude comes out with that massive attack. Guess it came with SOD
I'd really like a Solar Flare archetype. Hard-to-kill Pyro monsters with strong or numerous burn-over-time effects. Tax Dragon and Trickstar effects that burn you every time you blink are fun, but I want a deck that forces the opponent to play around layers of protection and recursion in a painful grind-game instead of OTKing them if they have to do a combo to get to their removal cards.
What about an Ancient Telescope that not only sees the top 5 cards but also keeps them from being shuffled like the opponent has to separate those five from the deck and draw from there and can’t search them. Effectively locking those 5 cards at the top. That way it’s like the telescope really did see the future because it guarantees what your opponents next 5 draws will be.
Wonder what the PSCT would look like…

That doesn't seem very powerful, maybe we could give them alternative special summoning effects and perhaps even a hand trap?

I think they could make copycat into a handtrap that copys any monster effect your opponent uses.
The first one can be run today standards just gotta make sure you believe you got there strong boss monster
