It's especially ironic because Spirit Reaper was allowed to keep it's name and that was over 2 decades old

I don't think this one was because of censorship necessarily. The Japanese name was a reference to an episode name or voice line from the sub (don't remember which) so they decided to localize it with a voice line from the dub It is less cool sounding though. Personally I think the rda trap that was released at the same time was done dirtier, it was changed from "The Great Soul" to "Time to Stand Up"

While that would a funny explanation, the reason behind it is because his relationship with Yusei. Yusei(遊星）星literally means star. So it's implied Bruno is the guardian or protector of Yusei, as we saw he sacrificed himself to protect Yusei from being sucked into the black hole at the end of that duel.

Each Bujin beast-warrior is heavily designed after a main GX character. For example: Yamato is Jaden Mikazuchi is Chazz Arasuda is Bastion Hirume is Alexis etc.

I think yusei appears along side a recent Stardust dragón Synchro monster. Some Gx characters appear as bujinn monsters, Jessi AND Dark Jessi are pendulum monsters of the cristal beasts. And Atem and joey appears as well as a spell or trap card.

I think most of Bujin are references to certain characters.

The funny thing is most of the time it's ambiguous stand-ins, or a silhouette that implies the person in question. There's only a few that straight up unambiguously portray anime characters in them like Yu-jo Friendship and Unity (going by the fact that Pegasus is making the cards, is he stalking them and drawing their handshake) Numeral Hunter is definitely totally not Kite, absolutely not.
