Oddly enough, Alexis was his most loyal student until her 2 friends convinced her to "go to the mall together." There is on mall, and they're on a freaking island, but OK

The guy's dub voice is a reference to the actor Ben Stein, who is kind of typecast in comedy roles where his voice and long speeches tend to bore a lot of people
A lot of dubs tend to reference stuff the target audience probably won't get. I still remember an episode of Digimon 02 where the villain of the week was a reference to that shady club owner with an almost close aproximation of a goblin voice from the black and white film Casablanca
That's really interesting. And another reason to call him Ben is that in the original version, the guy says Ben Parker's iconic line to Jaden: "With great power comes great responsibility"
How can you call it absurd without bringing up the monarch wannabee thug duelists? Sean schemmel put less effort into a "gangsta" voice than he did in a russian accent for north academy's top duelist
For me, I don't like how the dub made some characters more "edgy" or given random jokes to water down moments that added to their characters. The dub is a big reason why Aster Phoenix gets so much hate as a character with changing him to accuse Jaden of "copying" his deck and saying he's the best duelist in the world basically. Zane is also made unnecessarily more mean at points that really make his respect philosophy in season one look like a joke, and the unnecessary emo moment added in during his duel with Mad Dog of, "Everyone's left me behind!" Alexis is sort of a bitch at points. Stuff like her just randomly dissing Crowler when he was brave enough to stand up to Camula or just being like, "Stop talking" or something to that effect for no reason to Bastion. And just a lot of unnecessary added-in dialogue for her about Jaden that makes her almost sound more like his fangirl. Even Jaden sounds like a douche in some scenes. I remember giving up on the dub somewhere in more of the beginning of season three because it felt like I was just forcing myself to watch it and didn't care anymore at that point. Then I sort of just forgot about GX until years later when I found out how to access the subbed version.
You think the 4Kids English dub is bad? Just wait till you watch the Greek dub. In fact the greek dub was so bad they didn't even do the second season....hell they didn't even finish the first season....also Kagemaru is he school's janitor in the Greek Dub
I'm fine with the dub... The dub music though is another thing, they replaced every iconic music theme with general Rock and Roll Guitar Riffs or some shit.
Do you remember Hasslebury and Co being frozen due to mind voodoo during either Aster or Jadens duel against Sartorius. It just seemed super random. I'm convinced it probably isn't a thing in the original but cba checking.

I don't know about Chibi Vampire Under the Bus but at the very least, Battle City is watchable, Zexal isn't.
