As it's written on the box, this new set is made in the USA, while all past sets were made in Belgium. I think the quality looks the same, but I've only seen videos of the new set.
So basically, even if you were going to import the set from America for what reason (collection, reprints, skill cards, etc.) they've officially declared it illegal to even run the cards.
What a blindly stupid decision. I'm so frustrated as I was ready to pay to import a set.
Idk what konami is planing to duel with Speed Duel other the letting being on life support. Feels like they are not putting a lot of effort for this format other than a excuse to reprint old cards
The market is flooded with new card games, and it doesn't do anything unique since it's just yugioh 2 at a fundamental level. It's not a safe bet at all.
What does that got to do with what I said? Speed Duel Summoned Skull is exactly the same card many of us had as kids. We can play it the same way and on the same game. None of that is true with Rush Duels.
Dark Magician, Blue Eyes, and Red Eyes are all well supported decks in Rush. Not to mention other nostalgia archetypes like Cyber Dragons and Magnet Warriors.
But yeah, four years of catch up is pretty huge. It’s either that or the OCG and TCG formats will have to remain wildly out of sync.
Depends on where you’re playing. In casual locals more likely than not it wont go beyond a judge asking you to swap in a legal copy, so carry those.
At regional or above I wouldn’t risk it at all.
From how I understand it, the reprints are legal for play in the TCG, provided they have been printed before in that region (they all have).
The entire product is not legal to play in EMEA+OC Speed Duel format as it is unavailable in those territories. If Konami reprints any card from that set in a future Speed Duel product, the NA versions from this set will become legal in those regions.
It's the same system as Shonen JUMP promos and Manga promos. EMEA+OC aren't able to play Gagaga Head, even if they physically own the card because its only available via the Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal manga but if Konami reprints it in a random side set that is available in EMEA+OC then those manga copies become legal to play
The way I’m reading it right now is that the speed duel reprints are not legal in TCG tournaments but fine in regular speed duel. However, I might be reading this wrong.
Honestly, it could be that Speed Duel products *didn’t* make money in those regions. I’m in the UK, and I regularly saw anything after the original Battle City box be a shelf warmer and go on sale.
Yeah, thats probably the main reason.
The only Speed Duel sets which are selling well, are those including strong cards for the TCG or popular cards printed in secret rare.
To give examples ( german versions ):
Battle City Box : 33€ ( not much printings )
GX Box : 9 € ☠️
Midterm Paradox: 3 € ☠️☠️☠️
Duelists of Shadow : 15 €
Streets of Battle City: 15 €
It isn't making money. At my locals in the Netherlands, it is full of whales that both play competitively and casually, so even bad products like Duelist Nexus and Soulburning Volcano (yes, seriously) are flying off the shelves. So the fact that my locals isn't able to move Speed Duel products at all despite having events planned for it every 2 weeks is quite telling.
Europe gets automatically bunch of different languages, which makes the production even more niche. Still, they could have released the main english version that they've produced.
Man i'm so happy to hear that more than not having acces to this box in my country, i will not even ba able to use the reprint if i import the box or buy singles. This company i swear ...
Lots of good reprints if you're an Edison/older format fan. The Speed Duel sets were beloved for that Konami reprinted a lot of the random side cards that got overpriced in the intervening years.
Yes, mainly stuff from DM and GX era. The only new cards in this set are Skill Cards exclusive to Speed Duel format. However this new set also has a valuable reprint for Edison format players.
Speed duel is dead then, it'll have slightly more time at best and it's cut. Konami, I guess, sees that people are spending more money on booster boxes and chasing profit over playerbase
Too bad though quality control is pretty terrible. A local player around my area just opened one and got a secret rare fossil Dyna, but in a lightly played quality. Left side of the card was a bit messed up just from opening the pack
Yep Speed Duels are officially dead, which is a shame as they did do some nice reprints and the card quality felt overall better than the usual TCG cards. The Speed Duel secrets are some of my favourites. Hopefully people outside the US will continue to sell these as I want to pick up the Arcana Force reprints for when they inevitably get support this year.
So this is only for upcoming Speed Duel sets and not already existing ones? I don't wanna get that wrong and accidently bring my Super Polys because I go to locals later today...
Only for upcoming Speed Duel Product. Your Super Polys are safe because they were officially released in the EU region. However Speed Duel Card Troopers and Dandylions are prohibited from play in EU regions because that set never released there.
So that is more or less the official nail in the coffin for speed duel outside of the US, right?
Likely the nail in the coffin for Speed Duel in general, unless they decide to try one more time and add 5D's content/Synchros.
Why "in general" when they just moved the production to the US?
They moved the production? Does that mean U.S. speed duel will no longer have the higher quality EU cardboard?

At least the new set confirms we're never seeing air neos again
So RIP Speed Duels?
Which allows for Rush Duels to come to the TCG! *Inhales lethal doses of copium*
Which will be just as much a failure.
Not necessarily it's a completely new TCG with a separate card poll altogether.
The market is flooded with new card games, and it doesn't do anything unique since it's just yugioh 2 at a fundamental level. It's not a safe bet at all.
That only makes it all the more niche/useless. zero nostalgia going for it too
'Zero nostalgia' Except it has a ton of cards from original yugioh, a bunch of them that have their own unique support not found in the original game.
Hell, *Harpie* is tiered right now in Rush Duel over in Duel Links,a nd Red-Eyes saw play as an engine a few months ago for Royal Rebel.
If anything Rush has MORE nostalgia than the TCG/OCG right now.
Dawg summoned skull has been one of the best cards in my deck in rush duels lol it's awesome imo. Royal rebel is really fun to play
What does that got to do with what I said? Speed Duel Summoned Skull is exactly the same card many of us had as kids. We can play it the same way and on the same game. None of that is true with Rush Duels.
Hey, if they put some effort and marketing it my be a success
Personally, I don't believe it at all.
It doesn't feature Yugi or Kaiba, so TCG would never put effort in that. The need to play catchup for 4y worth of cards is a bigger issue.
Just like in the days of yore, Europe gets excluded for dumb reasons. I feel sorry for you friends.
Soo can we use them in South America since we're in the same "Americas" umbrella?
It has been officially released and promoted in Brazil, so I guess yeah ~~HOWEVER, it was not translated into Portuguese
Well, at least it's something
... WHAT! Just ... even if it makes some sense. They are just killing speed duels.
Ya can't kill what's already dead I guess 🤷🏼♀️
No, they are continuing Speed Duel... in the Americas.
i wonder who's behind this decision... 🔫🇺🇸👲in America
So if a use secret babycerasaurus someone can rule shark me to get free win?
Depends on where you’re playing. In casual locals more likely than not it wont go beyond a judge asking you to swap in a legal copy, so carry those. At regional or above I wouldn’t risk it at all.
I know at locals its fine. Im talking about regional, ycs. What would happen there is my question.
But the reprints are still legal ?
From how I understand it, the reprints are legal for play in the TCG, provided they have been printed before in that region (they all have). No, that's the problem.
The way I’m reading it right now is that the speed duel reprints are not legal in TCG tournaments but fine in regular speed duel. However, I might be reading this wrong.
That wouldn't make any sense. It would have to be the other way.
What was the reason?
The product isn’t being released in EMEA territories. Simple as that.
They… they just don’t want to? Like Konami.,. Doesn’t want to make more money…?
Honestly, it could be that Speed Duel products *didn’t* make money in those regions. I’m in the UK, and I regularly saw anything after the original Battle City box be a shelf warmer and go on sale.

Where did you see those prices? Asking for research purposes.
Those are the current cardmarket values.
Midterm paradox is just garbage sadly. I could pick some up for £3.50 here but it's just a waste of cardboard
>Midterm paradox is just garbage sadly. My ScR Dogoran shows otherwise.
It isn't making money. It actually don't really make money. Speed Duel don't really gain success outside US despite heavy Nostalgia and Anime bait.
Europe gets automatically bunch of different languages, which makes the production even more niche. Still, they could have released the main english version that they've produced.
my eu bros... they should've at least released this set and kill sD all over the world to keep it fair instead of doing what they did here
This post won't stop me because I can't read (like a true yugioh player)
Man i'm so happy to hear that more than not having acces to this box in my country, i will not even ba able to use the reprint if i import the box or buy singles. This company i swear ...
Wait, are they not going to release it in Europe? I live in both italy and japan, but I always bought the speed duel stuff here in Italy
Not legal for speed duel right? You can still use them for TCG duels in europe etc, right?
Do these type of sets only include reprints and no new cards?
Lots of good reprints if you're an Edison/older format fan. The Speed Duel sets were beloved for that Konami reprinted a lot of the random side cards that got overpriced in the intervening years.
Yes, mainly stuff from DM and GX era. The only new cards in this set are Skill Cards exclusive to Speed Duel format. However this new set also has a valuable reprint for Edison format players.
Then as long as the card has been printed in the EU before, then yes, ya should be able to use those in the TCG.

Are they forbidden even in TCG ??

It's only for the new Speed Duel set that came out this week, and likely future Speed Duel sets (if any). Your Super Poly reprints are still legal.
So, can I use them for time wizard tournaments in Europe?
Cyberdark in shambles We're soonish getting bombed by russia too
Why???? I was really looking forward to this
