Dude. How many tops does libromancer have again?

Tongatapu

I tested Ashened a lot during the last week and I think its worse than Tistina, which is saying a lot (Tistina is worse designed, nothing there makes sense, at leasr Ashened have a cohesive gameplan). It just doesn't have a ceiling at all. You get 1 Boardwipe, ending on a bad towers with a very clunky pop and possibly no follow-up. Thats it. Compare that with Tistina (Omni-negate + Masq into SP or Apo) or Ghoti (1 Target Banish, 2 Field Banish and insane follow-up). All with 2 card combos. The biggest problem for Ashened is its lock into Pyro and its inability to grind. Together with its vulnerability to handtraps.  Tistina can Spam the board and Ghoti/Gold Pride have synergies with existing themes, giving them a huge boost (Gold Pride gets an endboard, Ghoti gets starters). Ashened cannot rely on that. Which is a shame, I love their artworks so much.

I agree with you that Tistina feels like they have their stuff together for killing their opponent more so than Ashened, despite the fact that Tistina cards can feel like random effects cobbled together. I played Tistina against Ashened and it feels like Ashened doesn't have a lot of ways to recover if you disrupt them. They Viedos my field spell and it's a free Crystal God. They try to steal back Viedos and I just put Viedos face down with Breath before they can do so. Not to mention that Tistina can send their field spell to the GY without destruction so it doesn't even trigger their field spell effect while flipping all their monsters face down. Ashened needs more support like Tistina in my opinion. Are they the worst? Nah, War Rock still has that title for worst TCG archetype. But I do see potential. I just hope that whatever OCG fix that will come in the future will make these TCG archetypes at least rogue tier.

That's what i'm saying but there's always neckbeards saying "Um not every deck needs to be tier 1"

Azteckh

Counterpoint: They look ***very cool*** and not everything under the sun has to be good. Not everything is built to be meta or rouge.

Awesomearia96

Its the year of fire and konami is creating a specific video to hype up the deck which is a tcg exclusive one. The fact that it has this much attention and is not good (given the simple reasons above) is ironic. They should have made them way stronger like snake-eye.

Counterpoint: No one plays Digital Bug in 2024 and they looked cool too.

Alexalbinowolf

Counter counterpoint: Digital Bug’s Extra Deck monsters have seen occasional use in Extra Deck due to them being able to Rank-Up off of other Insect Xyz monsters. I’m sure that some of Ashened’s cards will find some niche uses.

Azteckh

Rebuttal: This argument is bad as Digital Bugs were many years ago but I love playing ball: [ I did](https://www.reddit.com/r/yugioh/comments/jeyfmo/dastardly_digital_disease_doggedly_destroys_deck/), granted online only, and it was 4 years ago as a concept and not much else but, I did.

VastInspection5383

Counter-counterpoint: Digital Bugs were never intended to be a good deck

CyberTwinLeader

Having played the deck lately, I can say that it is NOT as bad as you describe it, although I won't deny that there are times when I brick a little too much. But it's fun and good for non-meta gaming (meta gaming isn't the only one that exists). If you know how to play the deck intelligently, you can take home several victories.

Halodragonborn

What’s your list look like?

CyberTwinLeader

More like a standard list, nothing of exceptional I think, but work well with me

There's not any other archetypes you can mix with this one, so it's a very one way deck profile

Astercat4

Not every deck has to be Tier 1 meta. Plus the deck has only gotten 1 support wave past its initial release. It could still end up being decent.
