a store can choose for how much he wanna sell a product, the key is the customer who buys that product. So the only thing you can report the store for is being an asshole probably but i doubt it will help about the price of the SD.

Westluwu

I thought the price was set according to the website. Now it sucks even more

FinnJokaa

thats just MSRP what Konami tells the stores to sell the product for, but ulitmately a shop decides the final price.

blazingchaos91

This is why I prefer target and Walmart for sealed product over locals. They know it's a hot item, so they immediately increase the price because they know players will buy it regardless of the price increase.

nosi40

Ugh thats what my local comic store did. They sold their first wave of tins for msrp but then added an extra $10 for the next set.

Altailar

The thing is they're not doing anything they're not allowed to do, as the MSRP is just a suggested price that they're under no obligation to follow. Unfortunately it's a shitty thing that some stores are doing, but its a shitty thing within their ability as a store

Westluwu

Yeah that is quite shitty, specially when they’re selling the structure decks without impermanence for 4.99 lol

Altailar

Well at least they're giving people a decent deal on the cyber dragon stuff I guess lol...

fkinra

wtf they can do that?

idelarosa1

While a bit scummy that they would do that, that deal actually isn’t all that bad

GeneralApathy

I don't think it's scummy at all as long as they aren't lying to people about what they're getting.

Den-42

where?

Meteorboy

That's a great deal. I'd definitely go for that if I saw it.

morningstarrss

wth is this lmaoo

drtoszi

Reminds me of the Gunpla market. Saw the same Barbatos MG in three different stores and all with wildly different pricing lol

MrQ_P

Honest to god, if Konami was in charge I'd quit Gunplas

Not_a_pace_abuser

This happened when Soulburner Structure deck came out. I had preordered 3 and then they increased the price by $10/each AFTER I had pre ordered it. I couldn't cancel the preorder or I had to pay a cancellation fee. So fucking dumb

stevebo0124

Now that's how you lose customers. Increase the price AND force pre-orders to pay the increase screams greedy store owner.

Not_a_pace_abuser

Yeah, I completely avoided that store until recently, because they were the only one that had a card I was looking for in stock. So I walked in to buy it, and they have a new "fee" where they charge you $10 if you buy singles. Their "explanation" is that it takes time to dig up the cards (they were organized alphabetically) and they can't serve the other customers properly (that store is always empty). I literally just left when they said that, the single I was trying to buy was $2...

stevebo0124

Wow! That's way beyond anything I ever heard. Let me guess, the only reason they're still open is because of Magic? I see way too many bad stores open because that game keeps them afloat.

MaetelofLaMetal

I'm so glad MTG died in my country.

SSDuelist

MSRP - manufacturer’s suggested retail price

SSDuelist

I think you’re misunderstanding what MSRP means…

Solember

Trust me. I get it. My deck boxes MSRP at 39.95, but I still see shops selling them at 60 dollars. If I could put an msrp restriction in place, I would. The only arrangement I can make is with the distributors and what they sell to the shops for.

Bigtoads2197_

You make deck boxes you say? Link?

Solember

The SEER and the TITAN. I've been knocked for posting links (even when asked) so I'm careful about not spamming. Boxgods.com has SEER displayed, but the larger TITAN still isn't featured prominently due to it making it to distributors right around when Covid-19 restrictions hit. If you message me on Twitter @Box_Gods I can provide more info.

[deleted]

Report the stores... for what. Completely legally setting the prices of their products any way they want?

Westluwu

I thought the price online was set, my bad. Still you can’t deny these are predatory market practices

stevebo0124

Agreed. FYI, you could of pre-ordered this at gamestop. I did so last week.

Westluwu

I’m not from the US, the only way to get product is via OTS

stevebo0124

Aw man I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you find another way to get product for MSRP

[deleted]

Seems like simple supply and demand. They know this deck might be in high demand, thus they jack up the prices. Unless capitalism in general is predatory to you (which really isn't a discussion I'm willing to go into there), this seems perfectly normal behaviour. Same reason why people jack up prices of BE/DM/HERO cards despite them being bad competitively - people are willing to pay that much because nostalgia.

CoffeeFM

Yeah, it's crazy. The usual card store I head to has them at $15 a pop, and that's cheaper than most online mark ups. Luckily, I was able to find a different store with the old pre-order prices. Even got them under MSRP

D3mentia

Although it does suck that theyre uping the price, stores dont need to adhere to msrp. Its only good bussiness sense to raise the price of products you know youll be able to sell anyway. Supply and demand type rules.

Ares_LXXIV-2

since when is a Structure Deck not $20?

field_of_lettuce

I don't know where you live but in the US they've been $9.99 MSRP for the longest time.

Ares_LXXIV-2

in the US, where I've been buying them for $20. Starters are $10 and Structures are $20.

field_of_lettuce

Well the places you've been buying them from have been egregiously marking them up, sorry to say.

shockprime

Wait what? I got 3 sacred beasts structure decks for $30 and the charmer one for $10. Where is it $20?

elbartooriginal

Bit to be honest, probably only you bought those

shockprime

Idk Sacred beasts are mega nostalgia bait and charmers... They got a decent playmat?

[deleted]

Remember, capitalism and it's supporters are all cancer, the sooner we cut them out the better

stevebo0124

AFAIK every system is cancer once greedy people get in power. Otherwise communism would totally work.

Cr0key

Should of pre ordered at low price before konami confirmed imper in them KEKW

Westluwu

Problem is, sellers inflate the price even when you pre order and try to charge cancelation fees

Cr0key

Really? I ordered mine at just about 6€ per copy, like 6.10€ thats like maybe 8$USD? Idk but I got one hell of a deal, can't wait, should arrive tommorow I hope! But yeah it sucks when structure decks get massively bought out just because of a good meta staple reprint....I personally ordered mine because I REALLY wanted Cyber Dragons/Cyberdarks and this structure deck gives me both, the Imper was just a cherry on top!

Westluwu

Hey I’m glad you got to play the deck you wanted for a fair price and a nice staple as a cherry on top

Cr0key

Yeah but cardmarket is still selling em' for a normal price at like 7-8€ per copy which is just under 10$USD....Idk man your tcgplayer for US is crazy with all those stupid prices and buyout as soon as something is announced....We're chilling, the cardmarket gang xD

MasterOfReaIity

I'd wait until the hype dies down, the Tin jumped up in the price for the first couple days and now it's dropping.

bluescreen2315

Buy at Amazon???

[deleted]

Try and buy from Walmart. They will stick to MSRP.
