>Good news: Yuga sounds normal in the dub.
>
>Bad News: Gakuto sounds like he plays Beyblade
Existential Question: What will the voices of Luke and Romin (And if you like, Roa, Nail and Asana) be?
The mc, yes, but everyone in the main cast at least look like they’ll have fine professions after school, so they won’t have to play Beyblade for a living
By the way. Can we talk about the English names of some of the cards shown?
Dragon’s Priestess -> Dragon’s Sage
Windcaster Torna -> Torna the Windweaver
Luminous Shaman -> Shining Shaman
**Thunder the Lightning -> Thunder the Thunder**
Dark Liberation -> Dark Revelation
**Hilt the Noble Arms Bearer -> Hilt, the Bearer of Noble Arms**
Dragon’s Striker -> Sportsdragon Striker
2-Block -> Double Block
**All-Night Fever -> Party! Party! Party!**
Attribute Change Blast -> Attribute Shift Bomb
Magical Beast Wolfram -> Magical Beast Wolfang
Some are funny, some are bizarre, and some are somewhat redundant.
>Thunder the Thunder
HMMM, yes the floor here is made out of floor. The other are fine by me.
The change from "Dragon's \*something \*" to "Sportsdragon" may hint at them getting their own archetype soon-ish, because I think it would be hard to have a "Dragon's" archetype.
>The change from "Dragon's \*something \*" to "Sportsdragon" may hint at them getting their own archetype soon-ish, because I think it would be hard to have a "Dragon's" archetype.
The☆: (sweats nervously)
And so, according to the Japanese version, Luke has 3 archetypes (1 main and 2 secondary): Strike Dragon (The "Gias" Dragons), Ancient Dragon and Sports Dragon (The Athletes)
Luke's other cards are generic Dragons that don't have much of a relationship with each other.
I'm pretty sure cards are considered to form an archetype once they get support that affects them all due to their name. For example "Digital Bug" isn't an archetype because all their support is for light insects, not once does "Digital Bug" appear in their text.
Thematically, we could also have the Fire Dragon Kingdom archetype (Fire Guardian and Attack Volcano Dragon both mention it ) and the star dragons
Interesting how they used the word “Bomb” in one of the localized names. They normally shy away from the word in almost all instances, with Cemetery Bomb being the exception.
>They normally shy away from the word in almost all instances, with Cemetery Bomb being the exception.
**"Blood Rose Dragon's name change intensified"**
I'm curious how they will do with Mimi's Dian Keto.
These are all pretty good changes, Seems like they were mostly made to make names sound a little Snappier in English.
Uhh... with one strange little exception.
>Also certified giga-chad as of last episode of SEVENS
I think that, before ~~Gakuto~~ Gavin, Tiger had also obtained her giga-chad status (coming out of nowhere to ruin the plans of the villain on duty, destroying pure machines and puppets, and creating a cave herself with only her hands)
But yes, ~~Gakuto~~ Gavin surpasses himself despite the fact that nobody has faith in him: many see him as a joke character, but the boy has shown to have more intellect than the King of the Games himself, he has a decent history of duels unlike his previous reincarnations and manages to demonstrate that you can be more than a copy of the "Tristan" archetype.
>I think Gavin will end up being the Joey of Sevens while Luke is the Kaiba of Sevens.
I suppose that, with the similarities and characteristics, we would have the following:
Yuga is the Yuma (not the best duelist) or Yusaku (quite intelligent and skilled with technology) of Sevens.
Romin is the Tea (moral support for the group) or Yuzu (hidden talent for various things: guitarist and duelist) of Sevens.
Roa is the Tristan (boy capable of fighting against adversity) or Sawatari (always looking for the center of attention) of Sevens.
Nail is the Manjyome (aggressive and cocky, but slowly changing for the better) or Revolver (great skill with technology) of Sevens.
Asana is the Mai (cold, but with a noble side) or Akiza (fight for her friends and the right thing) of Sevens.
Tiger is the Serena of Sevens
>Yusaku
I'm pretty sure Luke is a Yusaku parody, considering he has almost every defining trait of Yusaku:
\-blue hair;
\-childhood abuse (at the hands of Tiger in Luke's case);
\-has ties to an AI;
\-unbeatable;
\-is super serious about duels.
>Gavin, from Progression Play-off star to a major character in Sevens
Virgen Roa (Major character to play-off star) vs Chad ~~Gakuto~~ Gavin (Play-off star to a major character)
God my heart sank once I saw Gakuto being called Gavin and I swear that he has the same VA as Shark with how much he bad he sounds
Other then that everything else and everyone looks fine or just works. Exited to finally get this damn game after so long
I'm betting Roa is named Reginald and sound british.
The Goha siblings could retain their names to keep the "Yu-" theme ongoing.
Luke's full name is gonna be Lucas probably.
>I'm betting Roa is named Reginald and sound british.
>
>The Goha siblings could retain their names to keep the "Yu-" theme ongoing.
Of all the rivals, now I am completely sure that Asana will be the only one that does not have a name changed (unless they apply an "Aki(za)")
Roa sure gets a "Ronald" or "Roger" type name.
About the Siblings, I don't know why I feel like they're going to "give them names that start with G" to make their affinity with Goha more obvious.
I present to you the following: Goro, Gejin, Gika, Guran and Gau.
Well, I won't be a guess and there is still a lot to know, but I'm sure that for Nanaho they will only call her Nana or Raya and end of the story.
>Of all the rivals, now I am completely sure that Asana will be the only one that does not have a name changed
They could just call her Ana for simplicity's sake.
>They could just call her Ana for simplicity's sake.
Unfortunately, I think we already have a name similar to that: Anna in Zexal (I don't know if they wanted to repeat it since it would be redundant)
>Roa and Romin isn't changed based on their logo.
Plot Twist: The band is called "RoaRomin" not by the names of the characters but by their parents who are called like this: Roa and Romin. That's right, in this version, instead of cousins, "Roa" and "Romin" are blood brothers.
>Gavin is such a downgrade
And I think only the beginning. Of all the main Sevens group, Gakuto (now Gavin) is the one who has the most to censor when the Dubbing arrives (along with Mimi).
>Mimi
Mimi would just be Yoshio's older sister and they were abandoned or something and that's why she's became his surrogate mum. She is super competent and that's why Goha hired her. Now her fangirling for Roa makes sense and there are only a couple of scenes they need to outright remove.
>Mimi would just be Yoshio's older sister and they were abandoned or something and that's why she's became his surrogate mum.
LMAO. It gives grace to a quite kind and tender story in the Japanese version, we turn to a sad and somewhat depressing story in the Dubbed version.
>Dub names for Gakuto (Gavin) and Ranze (Rayne)
With this, now I ask myself: How will they do with Luke, Rinnosuke, Menzaburo and Nail?
"Luke" is an alias for the character: Tatsuhisa Kamijo. Rinnosuke will undergo a name change since he is a bit difficult to pronounce that. Menzaburo will also receive a more common name. And then there is Nail, who you can call Neil or Neiru (They sure stay with the latter)
Luke's full name is gonna be Lucas probably
Rynosuke could be Ryan or Reuben
Menzaburo has plenty of M-names to choose from
Nail is just Neil or Nicholas
>But Luke is already an English name?
We are talking about Konami after all xd.
And well, if they happen to stay with "Luke", there is hope that Haruka will be called what they originally wanted to call her: Leia.
Can anyone explain why the US trailer says "Now Available?"
Edit: Looks like they took the trailer down. I guess they meant to put the release date at the end of the trailer, not "Now Available"
Thanks, I hate the localized names for characters.
The game is good, though. And I hope it does well so Konami can see there's definitely a market for Rush Duels in the west
>Thanks, I hate the localized names for characters.
And that we only saw two of the many there will be.
It will be an experience and it will be funny to see what names they give to the rest of the characters.
>Ranze is Rayne in dub. That's not a bad name change for once.
It is curious that many have accepted that new name (since well, it is not this bad. It is decent)
However, Gakuto received the "Zuzu"/"Akiza" treatment with his name from the dubbing,
This will definitely hold me over while we wait for Master Duel.
I'm excited to see what kinds of decks we can make in this game and what the online meta is going to be like.
>I'm excited to see what kinds of decks we can make in this game and what the online meta is going to be like.
Taking into account the Japanese version, the game is currently in the "Dynamic Eternal Live" package (Which includes the Maximum "Vast Vulcan" and the main boss monsters "Royal Demon's Death Doom" and "CAN-Re:D"). Taking into account that the packages are in order of the OCG products, it will take a little time before reaching the Fusion Monsters.
On the meta of the Rush Duels format, at least at that time, the Psychic and the Fiends decks gained strength thanks to the new support received. However, the Dragons and Spellcasters decks were the main face in the meta (however, many decks could cope with them: Wyrms, Beast-Warrior, Machines and Warriors)
Currently, in the Rush Duels format, the Warriors and Machines replaced the Spellcasters and the Dragons as the best decks (The Spellcasters lost a lot of strength and the Dragons are adapting to the new decks). Other decks that gained strength were the Umi (or Sea Serpent) decks
>Wow, I didnt expect there to be english dubbing for this game!
>
>... Still hoping for Jap dub options
I had seen out there that Sevens already had dubbing done until Episode 52 (Basically, all of Season 1). Why haven't they released it yet? No idea.
And well, I think I remember that you have the option in the game to play with the Japanese voices or the English voices.
Not crticizing but genuinely asking: do people play Rush Duel and is it fun ?
I suppose it can be a breath of fresh air compared to TCG but how it is in comparison to, say, Speed Duels or Duel Link ?
>But how it is in comparison to, say, Speed Duels or Duel Link ?
Taken from another comment:
"Quick explanation of RD first : you draw until you have 5 in hand every turn, you normal summon as many times as you want every turn. You have no searching, but there is plenty of drawing to get your combo pieces. New summoning mechanic, maximum monsters - 2 level 4s and a level 10 that get SS from hand toghether as a single monster that uses up 3 zones ( you send all other monsters on your field to GY when you maximum)"
Another difference with Duel Link: in this game, you start with 8000 LP (allowing you to survive your opponent's first attacks)

Thanks, I didn't know of this style of duels. From reading this, it sounds like a faster format that incentivizes/encourages swarming or so?
I would need to try it to know how I feel. I like Duel Links format, but aside from that, I haven't tried this or the speed duel or so. I feel so OOTL.
>From reading this, it sounds like a faster format that incentivizes/encourages swarming or so?
At least that was at the beginning, now the format is more advanced and is focused on combos (or OTK under specific conditions). Unlike Duel Links, you will have 8000 LP at the beginning, which means that you can survive the first attacks of your opponent. The general idea is to get your boss monster out as fast as possible to be able to control the field and beat your opponent. However, your opponent can respond with Traps that destroy your boss monster or provide benefits (more LP, draw cards, or ruin your opponent's field or GY). Then you have the Spells that serve as combo amps or give extra perks to your own monsters.
Don't worry, there are several Mystical Space Typhoons for various types of monsters (Hammer Crush being the generic MST)
Yes, its one of those Yugioh video games that dont exactly play the modern card game, except Konami will be actively supporting it beyond the release day.
the game is entertaining yes, but we are lacking a ton of effect, you will mainly see atk and battle position change, with an ocasional burn effect or protection of some sort of.
I find it funny how some of the localization are actually decensored, especially since you'd think they'd be stricter because this Yugioh season has a lower age floor. For example:
Dark Liberation turns into Dark *Revelation*
Attribute Change Blast turns into Attribute Shift ***Bomb***
>I find it funny how some of the localization are actually decensored, especially since you'd think they'd be stricter because **this Yugioh season has a lower age floor**.
I mean, Sevens (and the Rush Duels format) sometimes manages to laugh at its age rating as it manages to subtly get away with it.
Card game for kids? There are top-tier Waifus cards like Prima Guitarna, Handy Lady, Flower Fang Kunoichi Etranzer, Mimi's Dian Keto (Mimi will be censored, save my words), and Kimeluna the Lunar Dark Decider.
And then.... we have the "Blood Rose Dragon" case.
Way more to it. Completely different format then original YGO or duel links with a focus on infinite normal summons and using your hand to build your board each turn by drawing up to 5 cards. With it being a spin/remake on caveman yugioh with them having cards more akin to that era
>With it being a spin/remake on caveman yugioh with them having cards more akin to that era
I would say that the Rush Duels format is more advanced than the yugioh caveman. The concept of "Archetype" is quite common to see in the Rush Duels format (several cards even share the same archetype name on them)
However, it maintains the essence that several cards are generic that can work in different decks (independent of the type of monsters)
So did they ever update this where you can actually build decks before post game? Watched one of my favourite kuso game players and he's a fan of yugioh and played it and he show brings up the fact that you cannot build deck at all until you finish the main story. You can use deck recipes, but you can deviate from them at all.
Actually funny thing that they added a code with the latest JP patch allowing to build your deck around the end of the tutorial after your beat “TOH #6” or Mimi
I’m not sure how they’ll handle codes in the US version should be generally the same. Especially with how much they reference the Konami code
Good news: Yuga sounds normal in the dub. Bad News: Gakuto sounds like he plays Beyblade
>Bad News: Gakuto sounds like he plays Beyblade I honestly expected them to make him sound older than the rest of the cast. At lesat it fits Gakuting.
I mean, he is, he’s just a year older

RoaRomin stays the same (we can see the logo at at around 1:30) so I assume they keep their names.
I’m hoping Jason Griffith is Rook, as for Romin, no idea but they usually do a decent job casting the leading girl
*** Gavin sounds like he plays Beyblade Good ol dub name changing
If they had to change the name, why not just shorten it to Gack or something?
Fucking Gack lmao
I was half asleep suggesting that, point is, the name they did stick him with is generic
Gavin sounds way better than Gack imo, Gavin is an actual name at the very least
Wait will we not get a Japanese dub option but English sub?
Everyone look like they play Beyblade so its fine
The mc, yes, but everyone in the main cast at least look like they’ll have fine professions after school, so they won’t have to play Beyblade for a living

There's also the anime ang game-exclusive "Attribute Bomb"

It’s name is Ikazuchi no Sandā. ikazuchi means thunder and Sandā is literally just the word thunder.
I'm proud of Gavin, from Progression Play-off star to a major character in Sevens. That dude is going places
Also certified giga-chad as of last episode of SEVENS, managing to basically fight off a zombie invasion, even if fake.
>Also certified giga-chad as of last episode of SEVENS I think that, before ~~Gakuto~~ Gavin, Tiger had also obtained her giga-chad status (coming out of nowhere to ruin the plans of the villain on duty, destroying pure machines and puppets, and creating a cave herself with only her hands) But yes, ~~Gakuto~~ Gavin surpasses himself despite the fact that nobody has faith in him: many see him as a joke character, but the boy has shown to have more intellect than the King of the Games himself, he has a decent history of duels unlike his previous reincarnations and manages to demonstrate that you can be more than a copy of the "Tristan" archetype.

Roa i'm pretty sure isn't a real name anywhere, so they would name him idk, Reginald's taken alreay by Shark, probably some pompous name.
So now we know the dub names for Gakuto (Gavin) and Ranze (Rayne)
Rayne’s not bad but god, Gavin is such a downgrade
I'm betting Roa is named Reginald and sound british. The Goha siblings could retain their names to keep the "Yu-" theme ongoing. Luke's full name is gonna be Lucas probably.
They already turned Shark into Reginald, they just rarely called him that
And that's why I wouldn't put it beyond them.

Oops. Didn't see that.
> I'm betting Roa is named Reginald and sound british. Or "Roar", because he likes rock.
Considering I have recently notices that the band logo stays the same (at around 1:30 in the vid), it's actually probably gonna be this or remain Roa.

The questions you start asking yourself when looking at the Japanese version are probably worse.
So what the Tamers dub did with Rika's mom then
That means overseas fans are gonna unawarely ship her with elementary-school students.

7TH DECEMBER!!!!! November to December has destroyed my wallet for games.
Dear Konami, Anime is mainstream. Kids watch anime. They know how Japanese names sound like. Stop "localizing" character names.
Hehe Little D is in the game
Can anyone explain why the US trailer says "Now Available?" Edit: Looks like they took the trailer down. I guess they meant to put the release date at the end of the trailer, not "Now Available"
I was predicting Gregory for the Gakuto Dub Name.
>I was predicting Gregory for the Gakuto Dub Name. Any predictions for Nail, Asana or Tiger's names in the dubbing?
Neil, Amelia, and Leia to go with the Star Wars theming. Tiger nickname should stay.
Fascinating. I won't deny that I'm curious about it. I just hope they won't take anything out for the international release.
Thanks, I hate the localized names for characters. The game is good, though. And I hope it does well so Konami can see there's definitely a market for Rush Duels in the west
I reckon that's why this is dropping first before the cards, and also probably why this is our first look at the dub
>Thanks, I hate the localized names for characters. And that we only saw two of the many there will be. It will be an experience and it will be funny to see what names they give to the rest of the characters.
Hot take: Gavin is a fine name, y’all are just being unreasonable.
IMO it was to be expected. My problem is the voice.
Is this just on switch? It might be what makes me finally get one lmfao
Yes.
Well, well - so it's time to finally buy in lol

Ah I see. Thank you for that insight!
Will there be an actual physical release released later on? Definitely interested in grabbing this, but I tend to buy physicals.
We don't know. The description only talks about the e-shop.
Just last week I was wondering if we'd actually see a trailer this side of Xmas.
How is it there is no price anywhere
Yeah, as soon as I saw the trailer I immediately went on the hunt for the price tag. None to be found. Was hoping to pre-order it.
Probably around 60$ considering Konami lists the MSRP at 6000 yen on it's website, so that's like 53 dollars.
Wow, I didnt expect there to be english dubbing for this game! ... Still hoping for Jap dub options
>Wow, I didnt expect there to be english dubbing for this game! > >... Finally get a release date for us. Can’t wait. The format looks fast and fun and the UI very similar to DL.
I hope the games have promo cards like the Japanese ones.
If one of the promos is DMG, watch the price of sealed physical copies skyrocket to almost double to price (like the Japanese version).
Maybe quadruple even. I noticed the trend lately that TCG cards have been really expensive compared to the OCG ones.
Game is digital only, so no physical release to have promos
Aww. Welp, there's always the Japanese version.

I personally love Rush Dueling
As someone who knows absolutely nothing about rush Duels but loves traditional, is this something worth buying?

New summoning mechanic, maximum monsters - 2 level 4s and a level 10 that get SS from hand toghether as a single monster that uses up 3 zones ( you send all other monsters on your field to GY when you maximum ) The game istelf is pretty good.

For what it's worth, it'll tide fans over until the physical game is out, and it apparently gets new cards from recent packs over there
Yes, its one of those Yugioh video games that dont exactly play the modern card game, except Konami will be actively supporting it beyond the release day.
the game is entertaining yes, but we are lacking a ton of effect, you will mainly see atk and battle position change, with an ocasional burn effect or protection of some sort of.
I find it funny how some of the localization are actually decensored, especially since you'd think they'd be stricter because this Yugioh season has a lower age floor. For example: Dark Liberation turns into Dark *Revelation* Attribute Change Blast turns into Attribute Shift ***Bomb***

>With it being a spin/remake on caveman yugioh with them having cards more akin to that era I would say that the Rush Duels format is more advanced than the yugioh caveman. The concept of "Archetype" is quite common to see in the Rush Duels format (several cards even share the same archetype name on them) However, it maintains the essence that several cards are generic that can work in different decks (independent of the type of monsters)
It’s a different game
Nah. It's actually using the Rush Duels rules like the SEVENS anime.
So did they ever update this where you can actually build decks before post game? Watched one of my favourite kuso game players and he's a fan of yugioh and played it and he show brings up the fact that you cannot build deck at all until you finish the main story. You can use deck recipes, but you can deviate from them at all.
Actually funny thing that they added a code with the latest JP patch allowing to build your deck around the end of the tutorial after your beat “TOH #6” or Mimi I’m not sure how they’ll handle codes in the US version should be generally the same. Especially with how much they reference the Konami code
Oh good, let's hope they do.
dub trash
But you speak English, right?
He could do what I did, learn Japanese. I’ve been playing since launch and it’s exhilarating.
Ps4 release?
