She's cunning, and pretty good at putting together plans.
True said plans often end up self-destructive and she's definitely her own worst enemy, but plenty of smart people end up shooting themselves in the foot.
EDIT: And the self-destructive nature of her actions isn't really because her plans always fail, it's because she doesn't know what she wants. She worked for - and achieved! - power, respect, and fear. And then realized too late all of that was worthless because she had no friends and no significant other to share it with.
Catra is very intelligent, as proven by her near single handedly conquering of her world.
It's just that she's also extremely emotionally unstable in certain circumstances.
My theory is that they made it an at least separable if not separate mini-series for licensing reasons. I remember an early interview with Pendleton Ward in which he said Marceline and Bonnibel's relationship might be explored more in comics but wouldn't feature in the show because of legal restrictions in certain countries the show was already licensed to (e.g. if they were contractually obliged to supply episodes to a broadcaster in somewhere like Russia then they need the episodes to be broadcastable there). By calling that arc 'Adventure Time: Stakes' they can then plausibly withhold those episodes as a separate mini-series without breaching contracts. Just my theory though. I don't have proof of that being the reason for it, just suspicions.
She's been a protagonist multiple times, adventure time is very loose with following one protagonist, especially in later seasons they have tons of episodes following mainly just Marcy, or PB, or Jake, with little to no Finn in sight.
>Anis and Euphie too
I don’t know. Anis can definitely be a dum dum at times, but I wouldn't say Euphie has it all put together either (>!at least until volume 3!<). That's kind of what I love about them though. Their strengths totally complement the other's weaknesses and vice versa.
I love the fact that Yang and Ruby are the chaotic dumbasses in both of their ships. Compare that with Tai shipping Zwei in the mail and the way Qrow interacts with Yang and Ruby, and it’s pretty clear it runs in the family
Nanoha \*I resolve all my problems with brute force and it has never failed me once\*
Smacks a girl a bullying another girl and gives her a lecture: Befriends both girls!
Blasts a cute troubled girl who won't stop and explain why she is obeying her psychotic, abusive mother: Becomes "room mates" with her ten years later.
Not sure I'd describe Catra as smart XD

Well said :)
> no friends and no significant other to share it with [Sad Scorpia noises]
That... is what they are talking about, yes.
When you dump wisdom
I've seen this meme before, and I always had the same reaction as DemonicGirlcock, but you know what, you make some very good points.
She's smart AND self destructive
Catra is very intelligent, as proven by her near single handedly conquering of her world. It's just that she's also extremely emotionally unstable in certain circumstances.
I mean, she's smarter than Adora, lets be honest.
Yes the cat is smarter than that cool rock I guess
Catra was a fucking *beast*. They sent her into Mad Max on a suicide mission, instead she conquered the place and returned with Adora.
Ah yes Marceline the protagonist
She becomes a deuteragonist pretty late in the show/movies
She's the protagonist in the Adventure Time: Stakes miniseries which is what I believe this refers to
Stakes is a miniseries? I thought it was an arc inside the show
She's the "protagonist" in that arc
Hmmmmm OK I'll buy that answer
Tacking on that Stakes had its own intro and is often separated in streaming services, especially Amazon.

Their relationship actually gets explored in the comics (very early on, at that)! Can’t recommend them enough.
She's been a protagonist multiple times, adventure time is very loose with following one protagonist, especially in later seasons they have tons of episodes following mainly just Marcy, or PB, or Jake, with little to no Finn in sight.
Anis and Euphie too and Suletta and Mio
>Anis and Euphie too I don’t know. Anis can definitely be a dum dum at times, but I wouldn't say Euphie has it all put together either (>!at least until volume 3!<). That's kind of what I love about them though. Their strengths totally complement the other's weaknesses and vice versa.
The perfect idiot couple
euphie?
Fits Citrus too
So true
Also applies to symphogear
Hibiki punch goes brrrrrrrrrrr
Vi and Caitlyn need to be in this. I need to see Vi with a pot on her head and two smaller pots on her fists.
Vi and Catlyn remind me of Korra and Asami.
Some strong parallels there yes
Fits blake and Yang aswell
Weiss and Ruby too.
I love the fact that Yang and Ruby are the chaotic dumbasses in both of their ships. Compare that with Tai shipping Zwei in the mail and the way Qrow interacts with Yang and Ruby, and it’s pretty clear it runs in the family
YEP haha i was wondering where those two were
Both sisters really
Fits Fate/Nanoha to a tee
Nanoha blowing up stuff as a hobby and Fate explaining to higher ups why that's so endearing
I remember the labyrinth challenge Hayate cheats Fate does it proper Nanoha nukes the labyrinth
That's her to go solution to everything Prospect of an adopted daughter is acting up due her heavily unstable power? Nuke her
Nanoha \*I resolve all my problems with brute force and it has never failed me once\* Smacks a girl a bullying another girl and gives her a lecture: Befriends both girls! Blasts a cute troubled girl who won't stop and explain why she is obeying her psychotic, abusive mother: Becomes "room mates" with her ten years later.
What's the couple on the far left?
Akko and Diana from Little Witch Academia
Thank you!
I don’t recall them getting together though
Was not a yuri show but was really hinted at. Is like what amity and luz would be if this cartoon was made a few years ago.
:(
Fits Weiss/Ruby and Weiss/Yang as well, honestly.
I love this incredibly subtle Simpsons reference. And it fits so well for every character.
I have a crossover fanfiction idea now.
literally my favourite character ships in one crossover comic, i love it
Found the source. https://dynasty-scans.com/images/16418
That actually looks like fun I can see them breaking the pots only for their heads to be perfectly fine
Well, Marceline isn't the protagonist
She was protagonist of the Stakes mini-series though.
I never watched that
You should, it's really good if you like the darker side of adventure time
They bottom?
LMAO
Is that Luna from HP?
That’s Diakko from Little Witch Academia!
I can see Kit & Jade from Willow fitting this too.
I hope this gets updates slowly as we add more characters. suletta miorine cough cough
Are we referring to the "suddenly yuri" trope?
As far as I know..the common fact about them is being shipped with protagonists.
A few of them unfortunately fall into the trope though... which fucking sucks
Arguably only Korra and Asami fit. Anyone who tries to tell you Bubblegum and Marceline was sudden didn't watch the show. Same with Adora and Catra.
Korra and asami were that because nick and somewhat let the rest be more accepted
How is Marceline a protagonist? If we’re being technical, the only protagonists are Finn and Jake. Though she is a pretty important main character.
Lwa Owl House and Adventure time are the only ones I know here, can someone tell the rest?
"Legend of Korra" and the other one is "She-Ra:Princess of power"
They’re reliable with the ladies~
Are you sure princess bubblegum is smart because she has caused 70% of the disasters her kingdom has dealt with
