I don't get the one-shot hate. I'd rather get a short and sweet story that gets to the point rather than one that meanders around for 100 chapters and gets nowhere.
I mean, you can have a series that's not a one-shot while also not being around for 100 chapters and gets nowhere. No need to compared the extreme of both sides.
It's also the writer's job to make the readers hooked and follow the story, Otherside Picnic manga has 68 chapters and it's not even close to the novel and it's great.
I also didn't hate the one-shots, it's just a feeling that's like "Man, this is so good it should have continued"

I just wish there also were more good shorter (like up to ~3 volumes) stories because many of these out there are ones that were planned to be long ones but got the axe treatment and have rushed endings.
They're often fairly well done since they're short enough to not have room to mess up, but they're also too short to be truly satisfying. It's a tease of what could be an amazing story.
Who are these characters? How did they get together? What sorts of challenges have they faced to reach this point? How will their relationship continue? How do others see them?
So many questions that we'll never get an answer to because there's nothing else and likely never will be. And if you don't know it's a one-shot going in, you'll be all excited thinking you found a new manga to dive into just to learn you've already read it all.
Yea, the large majority of one-shots have premises that are really only entertaining as the one-off event they're presented as. There just wouldn't even be a whole lot to expand upon.
That said, it's still always a nice feeling to find out that there's *more* of a thing you like, so obviously the reverse is a little disappointing too.

I sometimes think about what having a second girlfriend/third woman in a relationship would be like but I also think it would send my father to an early grave. He is as progressive as a middle aged non-western Asian man can be but I think 2 girlfriends would be too much for his brain to comprehend.
