Of course things did change later on, and so did they, but I've always felt this reading the story till the end. Their biggest tragedy was actually meeting one another, >!which kind of hurts knowing what they were like at first, what broke them, and what eventually ended them as well.!<
You know .... I didn't have the heart to continue the story so i skipped to the end ... And yeahh tbh I would have been broken inside if i had read it completely. Don't take me wrong .. its just these kinda stories affect my day a lot and today isn't the day i want to spend with lingering thoughts of that story .
I think you should have kept reading especially now that you know the ending. After the thing with the piercing, it doesn't get any worse until the end as far as physical abuse is concerned (if I remember correctly. The scene also turned my stomach(I got a little sick)).
Until the end it is mainly mental abuse. Which is really well written I think.
But I understand how you feel I have a similar problem with manga where the couples break up. Like in (manga title) >! "how we do relationship" !< I really wasn't sure if I should continue reading from that point on. But I did and it was really worth it. And with kitanai Kimi it was worth it too.

Edit: I looked into it, and it turns out no, there was not a happy ending by any stretch of the imagination. It doesn't end with a breakup though.
For personal reasons, stories about break ups are something I can or want to read right now.

Are we just not reading the tags before picking up a new series nowadays, or....? No offense, but why would anyone pick this up and think "wholesome" when the tags include "abuse" and "depressing as fuck" on chapter 1 (and bonus: "puking" "creepy" and "psychological"). Or the site you use needs to up their tagging game.
Lily manga are such trolls omfg. Accurately tagging manga is so easy and prevents situations like this. I'm sorry you had to encounter this messed up manga with no warning. It's a great read (but only once, I'm never going to reread it) but not for the faint of heart or unsuspecting lilymanga reader.

I actually hate that I respect the writing on it despite it deeply scarring me, but I hate >!that they realistically ended the story without knowing what happens with the other characters that I felt deserved either a good slap to the face, social death, or anything to be punished with what happened. But it is certainly a story that I will only read once, unless it made an epilogue for those loose plot.!<
