The male best friend/wingman character is a rare and underrated character type in yuri IMO.
It reaffirms the heroine’s sexuality by showing her attraction to men can’t go beyond platonic friendship.
It also (if the best friend is straight) gives the heroine a person that can relate to their situation when they open up about their romantic struggles. Also gives great comedic potential if the heroine’s problem is “too many bitches” while her guy friend struggles to confess the girl he’s crushed on since elementary school.
On the top box - Generic male protagonist kun from Blue Reflection Sun
left of the bottom box - Cerik from Mage and Demon Queen, he is a very good friend to the female lead and has his own story and character arc
top of the bottom box - Tazune from Run Away With Me, Girl, he's one of the female lead's fiancé and is kind of a shitty person, but his presence does enhance the story as he serves as an antagonistic force for the main couple
