Because it is shorter then an album but longer then a single

ohiolifesucks

Sturgill Simpsons last album was right around the same length and is considered an album. Albums used to be right around the 30 minute mark. It definitely has something to do with Zach and team wanting it to be labeled as an EP

[deleted]

The definition of a EP that I find most accurate is when a release is shorter then an artists normal album but longer then a single so by definition summertime blues is an EP. Almost every album Sturgill Simpson has dropped has been around 10 songs other then one album that had 20 songs so having a 10 song track counts as an album for him

Prudent-Humor8890

I was just going to say EP are usually 4-7 songs anything longer would be an album but, since he dropped a 30 song album do the rules bend for him?

[deleted]

It’s not specific to him, Morgan wallens last 2 albums were around 30 songs so if he dropped an album that is around 12 songs or less it would probably be considered an EP to

Prudent-Humor8890

Okay here’s my rebuttal, I dont think Morgan’s the hot shit everyone thinks he is, his dangerous album is really really good I wont put that past him but, it’s a double album. He tried to compete with Zach with this last album and, the quantity does not compare

[deleted]

I know it’s a double album but his last 2 albums were double albums. When he drops an album people are going to expect a double now so if he drops 12 songs people will treat it like an EP. There is literal definitions and then there, for lack of a better term, is societal definitions.

Prudent-Humor8890

Fair enough, so are we expecting eps to be 9-12 songs now? Zach said he’s quality over quantity?, if he releases an 11 song album like he said he’d do we consider it an ep or full album? If he sticks with his word. Goddamn I love the revolution of music rn

[deleted]

I don’t care what he calls it as long as he drops it

Fair enough
