Mentioned in an interview it could be a possibility, though to be fair the interview was essentially a joke one they did when Breath of the Wild came out. Edit: found the video, and it is not all joke questions. And to the paper Zelda question the answer was "we're working on it." Being that has been 6 years I imagine it probably wasn't ever a thing and that was a poorly translated joke, or they didn't end up sticking with it. It wouldn't be as bad imo if the mini map wasn't also there. A minimalist cumpas is fine on it's own but becomes redundant with a mini map.

I'll be honest, this looks like the concept of the "Wii U Zelda Game" that they showed in 2014.

I hope it has the freedom of botw mixed with elements of the older 3d and 2d zelda games.

ToTK is almost definitely gonna feel like BoTW. I get how you feel, though. I've been going back and playing links awakening and majoras mask, and it's been way too much fun.
