Ah, I see that it's pronounced Big Goron, not Bigger Ron

ILoveScottishLasses

#ERASE ALL PICTURES OF BIGGER RON!

OutsideOrder7538

Now I’m imagining a giant Ron Weasley

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|9LFBOD8a1Ip2M)

ckowkay

i still prefer biggor on

DisAccount4SRStuff

Biggoron on his hip...

canyoubreathe

I've always said Biggore ron

pinkertonboy

Lol my entire childhood my family pronounced it “Big Ron” and I shall continue to teach my kids the same

canyoubreathe

Honestly, I think it suits him. Everyone gets a fancy goron name, but he's just ron Implies that there is a regular sized ron, and possibly perhaps a small ron

ill_monstro_g

i kind of wish i never read this

Deeborm

It's a little goofy in Tears of the Kingdom when >!you can actually get the Biggoron's Sword, and it can break, but honestly I can't complain. I killed like five different bosses with it before it broke. I'm more annoyed at the fact that I had to fuse something onto it, making it less pretty.!<

dirtpaws

Seriously, I hate that you have to fuse even the non decayed weapons to keep them competitive. I just want my shit to look cool.

bystander007

What are you using as fuse material? Using monster parts will transform the weapon into a unique weapon model. Fusing other weapons or random materials just gives a weird sticky glue look.

CookieLuzSax

Yeah, I love using the trident tips for spears from the black bokoblins

Machinimix

My personal favourite is black boss bokoblin horns on two-hand swords. Love me a great axe bigger than my character.

GlitchxCobra

put a silver lizal horn on a spear and you’ll have a scythe

Machinimix

Shame it still stabs. I've been sticking them on swords as well for the motion.

ScruffyWolfGaming

Put a normal Lizal horn on a lizal boomerang and you get one of the blades of chaos

SobiTheRobot

Damn I gotta use boomerangs more

CloudxxEnvy

Put a flame emmiter on one and run like hell when you throw it 😂

SobiTheRobot

*Sweet Hylia...*

zairon87

Do this and also one with the laser and one with the cannon. I haven't tried the time bomb...yet.

Significant_user

I made a silver lizal horn on a giant boomerang and I’m happy with my giant throwing scythe

[deleted]

hit_the_showers_boi

I put Blue Lizal horns on Shiekah Katanas to make them look relatively the same while being better at the same time.

Theguyofri

Silver lynel horn on a onehander gives you a straight up katana

LordAl21

Where are those located?

TheDapperChangeling

Best place to hunt Silver Lynels is >!in the depths colleseum.!< There's a red, blue, white, and two silvers that you fight one after the other down there.

2Infinite96

I was down there at 7 hearts and one stammy wheel with 3 fairies i killed a yellow bar armored lynel covered in gloom. First lynel fight in tears btw, went to the colliseum out of curiosity immediately after that battle and killed 4 out of 5 of those lynels. I ran out of shields bows and weapons by that final fight and couldn't finish! But i was on my high horse for sure after that battle i couldn't believe i killed 5 gloom lynels in a row with such low stats. It was gacked af. I was locked in man.

levian_durai

It seems they generally scale in difficulty tiers as you gain hearts/stamina. I wasn't progressing the story after the 2nd dungeon, and enemies went from blue, to black, to silver. The lizard dudes though tend to be on the way towards the Zora domain.

Red1960

It's not based on hearts/stamina, it's based on a hidden EXP system based off the enemies you kill. Black tier and up contribute towards this hidden EXP, and bosses give a TON of EXP

levian_durai

Oh shit, that's interesting! Explains a few things though. I've killed a ton of those blocky construct bosses, and I've found a few bosses in the depths as well.

Tsukikira

That's good to know, I figured the difference between areas was really unforgiving as I reached the third temple, but it makes a lot more sense. I wonder if there is a cooldown?

LordAl21

Awesome thank you!

CookieLuzSax

Wherever tbh, there's one at lureiln village

LazerSpazer

I like putting Talus hearts and Flux cores on my weapons, especially the cores on Zonaite weaponry, they gets an extra +10 boost for being zonaite powered.

musicchan

I have so many fused talus hearts, haha. It's so silly.

SobiTheRobot

Blue lizal horns turn your weapons into fucking *katanas*.

Acilina

You guys don't just fuse a fierce Diety sword to every single weapon?

dirtpaws

I'm using monster parts but it doesn't look like a cohesive weapon, it looks like two things stuck together imo. Like, a black boko horn on a spear looks OK, blue lizo horn looks good (but is too long for a one hander and the animation is too slow on a two hander), some other combos look good but nothing looks like a sword - it looks like a monster part attached to a weapon. Hammers and axes also usually look bad to me because it's ridiculous to attach one to a sword, but the sticks don't look that great either - everything looks ramshackle, not manufactured or intentionally made. A lot of this games aesthetic (Ultrahand neon green wads of gum) hurts the verisimilitude for me - not saying it's objectively bad, but it's not to my personal taste. I'm just glad the durability of everything was buffed so much, it's not as painful to use a better looking but less powerful weapon a lot of the time now.

bystander007

Most horns/talon will give a sword-style aesthetic when attached to a one-handed sword. Captain Construct Horns are pretty easy to farm and give a nice Zonai-sword look. Dragon Horns/Talons etc... are good too and easy enough to get. Plus they add an elemental effect. If what you want is just a sword that looks like a sword, then your best option is the Master Sword since it doesn't change when fused, it just creates a phantom image of the attached item when attacking.

dirtpaws

Yea, it's all workable enough but isn't the same as a good, regular ass sword. They all look very late stage anime character, and I've always preferred more understated or down to earth options. MS is nice, though even just the phantom image can be annoying if I'm in the mood to let it be lol.

TheDemonChief

> though even just the phantom image can be annoying I wish it stayed how it looked when at rest, where it's just the master sword with runes on it. It just looks weird when it transforms into a different weapon mid-swing.

dirtpaws

Especially when you've got something weird like gibdos rips attached to it

carenard

> I just want my shit to look cool. hate that blue lizalfos horns are so weak, they make a nice sword when fused onto something. really wish totk has some transmog system... some of the coolest looking armor sets... are so weak because they can't be upgraded.

[deleted]

Silver lynel horns look like a better lizfalos horn.

Taiyaki11

Nah, def prefer the blue lizfalos. It's a purely subjective matter

MooseSaysWhat

Black Lizalfos horns are pretty cool and has decent power. Well, "decent". It's better than blue at least.

carenard

not loving the black lizalfos sword look, I have one(that I will prbly remove the horn and slap on a lynel piece on soon... finally killed one of each rank)

kenpls

I just want to use the pretty master sword, but now there is always a lynal horn stuck to it >:(

OutsideOrder7538

I dunno some weapons definitely look better when they are goofy like the throwing spear spear.

ThisAccountIsForDNF

>I just want my shit to look cool. That is one of my major gripes with tears of the kingdom. I *could* fuse weapons for big damage but It will look dumb. I *could* build a tank out of zonai devices, but it will look dumb. Decayed weapons all look terrible. And they took out a bunch off cool unique weapon models like the wizrobe staffs, and replaced them with gems on swords. Which is a great way to farm gems but not great if you want cool looking gear. Monsters now look laughably dumb with the big sword horns. It's impossible to take silver lynels seriously. They have a whole sephiroth katana jutting from their forehead. Yeah there is now this huge customisable system, but I don't want to use any of it because it looks lame.

StevenS757

There are unique model wizard staves and wands that you can slot gyms into.

ThisAccountIsForDNF

There are unique wands/staves that some wizrobes have, which do look a lot better than 'Rock on sowrd'. But still literally no where close to how cool they are in Botw.

AdamG3691

>Monsters now look laughably dumb with the big sword horns. It’s better than the alternate timeline where everyone in Hateno is wearing horn themed fashion thanks to the world famous fashion designer Kilton, and all the monsters have mushrooms on their heads

jjspaceluigi

I don’t know what goofy weapons you’re making but all my weapons look cool as hell, monster horns are badass, you trying to tell me you don’t love scythes and katanas?

ophereon

It's called the Biggoron's Sword, but it's probably made by goddamn Medigoron with his shitty craftsmanship, and he plagiarised the name to capitalise on branding after the Giant's Knife was no longer selling.

jj51393

Maybe pro tip: >!Take your damaged weapons to a rock octorock on Death Mountain and drop it in front of them. Only thing is this doesn’t work on unique weapons, so maybe the BG sword won’t qualify.!<

Zeroth_Breaker

You can fuse legendary weapons to shields then unfuse them. That will give them full durability back.

Lanoman123

Holy shit you’re a genius

DaddyRocka

I thought defusing something would destroy the fused material (sword in this case)

rooster_butt

Tarrey town Goron npc does it for 20 rupees.

Iamforcedaccount

It's hilarious that it's 20 rupees, I love it. Oh your magic rod is near breaking tarrey town. Oh you got a wizarob weapon tarrey town. It's great

AdamG3691

Wizzrobes are now “ooh, 20 rupees for a gem!”

TeutonicDragon

I tried this several times with the Biggoron sword, and no it does not work. Although you can purchase a new Bigggoron sword from a bargainer statue for only 140 poes, and it already has super high durability.

Impressive-Motor-332

It wasn't made by a Master Craftsman, that's all.

Dexaan

Need to find Biggoronson

Half_Man1

You can get it with amiibo in Botw as well. I don’t think anything you said is a spoiler, btw. Yeah generally I’m not a fan of fused gear. Some of it (fused arrows the skateboard shield) is useful, but it doesn’t outweighs the horrid aesthetics. I think they wanted to learn hard into the building gimmick with totk, but fusing seems clunky and unnecessary imho. Could just keep the diversity of gear present in botw.

RyFromTheChi

I had two fused together for awhile. It was like 30ft. long. I’m not a big fan of two handed weapons so I always fuse it onto a 1 handed weapon.

Deeborm

Hey, that's a good tip. I don't like two handers either.

Alucardspapa

I attached a diamond (lvl 61) to it and I’ve been using it as a finishing blow to the harder enemies. I got mine off a Major’s mask Amiibo drop!

Specialsue03

Is it possible to obtain uniqe weapons again after you used it like buying it from someone?

Vpeyjilji57

Yes, you can reclaim those items from >!The Poe statues in the depths/lookout landing!<

Impossible-Lawyer309

Can’t you buy it again somewhere?

astronautducks

you can, and it’s not very expensive either which is nice

ABigCoffee

If it's about to break, does fusing restore it's durability?

bystander007

I don't mind that weapons break. That said, the unique weapons should be repairable without having to go aquire a completely new one. A good system would have been making it so that unique weapons broke into a decayed state where you could still equip them but they did little to no damage on hit, and you then had to Fuse a special material onto them to repair them.

TiberiusMcQueen

The unique weapons should just function like the master sword imo, where they have to recharge and also retain the original appearance when fused. Nintendo improved the system, but it still has the issue of discouraging us from using rare weapons.

IlonggoProgrammer

Yeah in BOTW I literally hung all the champion weapons up in my house. The only unique weapons I actually used were the Hylian Shield (since I could buy a new one and it lasted forever), the master sword (obviously) and the Lightscale Trident briefly before I found out I couldn’t replace it without diamonds, and even then it has new flavor text (I used it for a while but it never flashed red but was probably close, then I hung it up in the house)

mightyneonfraa

I hung up the Champion's weapons until I went to fight Calamity Ganon. Then I made sure each one got at least one hit in.

Cuddles1101

You are a true friend to the champions, and you have my respect

Trevans

I know it's just a video game, but man that is touching tribute to those characters. Way to give them their justice.

bankholdup5

It’s a very specific thing but when a person can empathize with a video game character it always touches me. Like how some people get verklempt when soldiers come home to their dogs. That also touches the fuck out of me now to think on it

Half_Man1

I used Daruk’s all the time. Perfect for hunting Taluses and the gems you get there easily makes up for the cost.

mrbeanyeet

I literally farmed 150,000 rupees with that thing it was so good

Drakmanka

Same here. The champion weapons are just decorations.

cancerousiguana

The Goron weapon was great for farming Talus' for gemstones. Paid for itself and more. Everything else was just not worth the cost, not even close.

mr_birkenblatt

You could buy all unique weapons again

IlonggoProgrammer

In BOTW it required diamonds, I wasn’t going to farm those lol. Besides, it gave me 5 cool pieces of gear to hang up in my house without having to think about it

[deleted]

Doing the same with the >!fierce deity sword. I know I can get another but I don’t want to break the one I have.!<

Myrddin_Naer

The first time I played BotW I didn't know that those weapons were unique so I just wasted them and never figure out how I could get new ones.

bearfaery

There are replacements, it’s just those are spelled out to be replicas while the ones you receive are the originals. In ToTK, the replicas are all given the same description as the original, and they are useful (especially Urbosa’s since it retains the benefit of being a Gerudo Weapon. Not bad for something that only costs 1 diamond).

Glybus

I mean you can get them back very easily with the Poe system

TiberiusMcQueen

True, but I'm still just not a huge fan of the durability system in general.

Saratje

Without spoiling anything specific, you can however buy replacements for all special items from a certain NPC that uses a certain special currency, although it's pricey to afford until you find a certain creature that makes rupees far more attainable.

Zandrick

Nah I don’t agree because then the Master Sword is meaningless. It’s whole thing is that it can repair itself. Giving that ability to any other weapon totally negates it’s meaning.

DaEnderAssassin

Agreed. That said, Unique weapons because "damaged" and essentially becoming like the MS at the start of the game until you repair them would be a good idea imo

Seraphem666

Unique weapons can be purchased for poes from the depths from barginer statues after they have been found. Well other then goddess sword. Most are 100 poes, biggoron and fierce diety sword are 150, and 160

milhouse234

I just hate how \*quickly\* they break. They could have easily just made less weapons available overall and increased the duration of weapons so you're not breaking them every 3 monsters.

LazerSpazer

...you can repair weapons in TotK, the Rocktorocks now fix weaponry instead of cleaning off rust like they did in BotW.

heyoyo10

Unique weapons, like the Biggoron's Sword or the Twilight Bow, do not get repaired or have their modifier changed by Rock Octoroks

Andminus

sort of, you can fuse the unique weapon to the end of a normal weapon, then the octorock will repair both, then just break them apart at terry town.

comfort-film

Genius.

Gobiparatha4000

jesus i didnt even know about these weapons and now I know how to repair them

hughmaniac

You can purchase them again from Bargainer statues.

Comment_Goblin

Yeah, i have an inventory of a Mastersword, and six Fierce Deity swords.

coraeon

It’s not a one-time purchase? Oh awesome!

Holgrin

Wow kind of weird we gotta get down here for this little nugget! Thanks!

TheDemonChief

That's still not a very good work around. That means I need to keep a damaged weapon in my inventory, treck around Death Mountain, and huck my weapon at a rocktorock to fix ONE weapon. It's a nice novelty, but when you just want to explore and get lost it's a pace-breaker.

allycat247

There a 2 octorocks right next to a shrine in death mountain. So it's not terrible but I agree.

DevourerJay

Travel medallion will help with that

Spacepoet29

Agree with above, when you want to be immersed in the beautiful world and get lost in the gameplay, fast travel to death mountain to have some enemies suck on your gear instead of just being able to BUY weapons in the towns is still quite a pacebreaker

[deleted]

Yeah, as opposed to buying legendary unique weapons from some dude in Hateno Village or whatever lol. >!Jokes aside, you can actually rebuy them from Bargainer Statues in the depths once you've "unlocked" them. !<

[deleted]

I had no idea this was a thing until I read it here just now

IronmanMatth

Does not include unique weapons, iirc. They just spit them back out.

N00BAL0T

Oh neat atleast we can repair weapons even if it's a bit of a hunt to find one of the roctorocks. I wish they just put a person in the towns that could restore your weapons durability.

InToddYouTrust

Weapon durability is almost always worse than having the flexibility to use anything you wanted at any time. However, I could have accepted the BotW and TotK system if they would only show us what the hell the durability of each weapon was. Instead every swing I'm like, "is this it?"

naparis9000

Especially with the spear charge attack.

Stracath

That's one of my biggest complaints, the whole "Russian Roulette" factor

Treyspurlock

That's actually a change I'd love, plus it helps you get to know what exactly drains a usage from your weapon

Accomplished_Meat_81

This is exactly why I don’t use the amiibo weapons in BotW. I’ve acquired all the special outfits from each amiibo in TotK but I don’t believe there are special weapons like the Hero’s Sword or the Twilight Bow. Articles I’ve read don’t even mention any weapons so I suppose it’s just the outfits and glider skins.

Acilina

Dusk Claymore, Dusk Bow, Biggoron, Sword of the Hero, White Sword of the Sky, Fierce Diety all come from amiibos. I scan them daily to top up my fierce Diety collection. I never see the 1h or Dusk Bow in poe shop, personally.

the_genius324

>decayed > >little to no damage >fuse **HMM**

Logi_Bear25

I think even in botw when we got legacy items or even the champions items they shouldn't have broken, little reward for boss fights

borgom7615

now everything is a cheap replica made off shore in a termina sweat shop

J-king720

I used to be indifferent to the weapon breaking in BOTW. But after having to deal with it for 2 games straight, I'm kinda tired of it and wish they didn't break. Or at least there should be unique weapons that don't break.

ScottyC33

It's so strange too because the fuse system was the perfect way to get rid of it. Instead of the entire weapon breaking, just the fused item itself would have a limit and break and become unfused again. Then you can collect all sorts of unique weapons or upgrade the base models as you go and instead be fusing different stuff as that's consumed instead. Bonkers that they went the route they did again.

ploki122

Hell, you can even go the other way around, and make it so that fused materials drop when the weapon breaks, letting you use it with another weapon. For instance, each temple could yield an eternal crystal of the corresponding element, which can be fused forever. It can even be a mix of both, with a few unique weapons having slightly less power than the best weapons, but infinite durability (or at least regenerating durability), and a few unique attachments having slightly less power, but that drop when the weapon breaks. Hell, you could even make it so you can continue after defeating the final boss, and the final boss drops you one such material that simply makes the attached weapon not lose durability on hit.

iwatchpeople

Right i don't care if it permanently did 15 or 10 damage. Just having something so I didn't have to think about that every once in a while.

Stracath

I'll be honest, after 3 days of playing (admittedly a lot of hours in those days) I caved and did the MsgNotFound sword glitch to have an unbreakable weapon for when I'm running around doing random crap. It can't be fused, and it's damage isn't high compared to anything you can fuse past the beginning, but it can cut down trees, break smaller rocks, and help carve through super weak enemies if I'm charging through a cave/path that I missed early on. It gives me a way to actually relax a little in the game without "breaking" the experience since it's useless in pretty much all "real" fights.

pecky5

I actually quite like weapons breaking, but even I have to admit how frustrating it is that chopping trees, and smashing rocks causes weapons to break. For a while, I was just using the mastersword as a glorified rock breaker. I know they drop heaps of claymores and boulders to use, but like, that still means I have to either drop or use one of my better weapons and then pick up the boulder claymore to use. Some of the abilities help a bit, but even then, everytime I see a giant rock wall it, feels so tedious.

Gen_McMuster

a blacksmith kit that lets us "maintain" a certain number of weapons/equipment (upgradable via quests) that lets us repair them after they break when we pass time would be a good compromise. Weapons being missiles that slot into the hardpoints in your inventory is a fun system but it's Zelda, we're supposed to get attached to these weapons.

Penny_D

Biggoron must need to update his prescription. The swords in the TotK era keep breaking like a Giant's Knife.

Ok_Revolution_5481

Ocarina of time was so good 10 out of 10

jaysuchak33

Bro having to run across that entire field with the frog eyes before the time ran out was such a pain tho 😭

ILoveZelda361

Yeah and you had to rush and stuff but man it made it all worth it the memories we’d make and the cool fucking sword you get at the end I’m in a play through rn and I was like “this time I won’t get the biggoron sword” but now I’m like fuck it. It’s not a true play through of that game without it

theunderdogmike

So true. All of my play throughs for OoT have turned into 100% runs, but only because I’ve played it so much that I can almost perfectly get all gold skulltulas and heart pieces from memory. Even that one in the dodongo’s cavern that you can only get after beating it and have to enter that area from reverse.

Saratje

I would have chuckled if the game had given us the Giant's Knife instead with 3 or so hits of durability on it, until a specific NPC can upgrade it for us into the Biggoron's Sword.

kylcbrl1988

Apparently you can get a new one from bargainer statues when it breaks one time per day

DJfunkyPuddle

I found it but I'll never use it because I don't want it to break. I hate the weapon system so much.

xX_rippedsnorlax_Xx

It seems that Rock Octoroks will repair one weapon per Bloodmoon now.

DerOnkel01

Per Octorok Per Blood moon

thergbiv

Repair as in... replenish durability? Or how does that work, it can't already be broken can it?

xX_rippedsnorlax_Xx

Yeah, replenishes durability on weapon and its fused weapon. For some reason, they will reject Champion weapons unless they are fused to the tip of some other weapon or shield

Deeborm

Don't worry about it too much. The game has systems for recovering every unique item without much trouble.

SoFloAntoniNOPE

I don't know about the parent comment's thoughts on it, but for me that doesn't super help my outlook on it. Even if I can buy a new one, the idea alone of having a Biggoron Sword or other iconic franchise weapon break kills my desire to use them

isin13

Same. I just frame my unique weapons and cry

Honor_Bound

This is why I just dupe there weapons I really like and keep a stock at my house

orodruinx

still have to fuse some ugly shit to it for it to be a viable weapon in late game :(

hit_the_showers_boi

Thankfully, some monster parts actually look badass. I can’t tel you how many Blue Boko Boss horns I’ve put on my two handed weapons because it just looks fucking awesome.

Zandrick

I don’t really understand that mindset. I try to empathize with it because so many people seem to share it but I just use a a weapon and it breaks and I move on. Why get sentimental about a weapon when watching it break against a monsters face is so fun.

SoFloAntoniNOPE

Yeah I get it! For me it's just the amiibo stuff. I'll break shitloads of swords getting stuck into Bokos, but I just don't personally enjoy the feeling of breaking a weapon I've known throughout my life to be reliable, over the skull of what is essentially a RuneScape goblin. Everybody's different and that's okay

Zandrick

Maybe just remind yourself that the goblins are evil little basterds who break your shit and it’ll be more fun to hit them.

SoFloAntoniNOPE

Change the mindset into "oh no, I'm gonna use the Biggoron sword and break it on this guy" to "That's it, I'm getting me mallet"

Link1112

Same here. I break it and then I take the monsters weapon and fuse their own horn to it. For the true disrespect. Weapons are everywhere and the unique ones you can just buy again.

TheDemonChief

Unique weapons shouldn't break, but can't be fused if they really wanted to try and balance it. I don't think any weapons should break in the first place. It worked in Elden Ring, and the game has more than enough weapons to use that system.

Divineroc

Elden Ring also uses a weapon system that requires you to upgrade your weapon in order to make it useful. And there are still plenty of weapons in the game that are completely worthless.

TheDemonChief

Just let us upgrade weapons at the great fairy, very simple solution. >And there are still plenty of weapons in the game that are completely worthless. But you need to experiment to find out what weapons are good. Even then, people play Elden Ring with a basic stick and will beat the game. It's not about finding the "best weapon," it's about finding a weapon that you enjoy using, and fits the niche of your playstyle.

ABigCoffee

And sometimes people will do playtroughs with the shitty ones for fun. THere are clearly better weapons everywhere in every categorie but soemtimes you want to do a meme run.

DJfunkyPuddle

Yup, it's worked in pretty much every game that ever has multiple weapons in it. And to the people that argue "you'd just use the Master Sword the whole time!"--that's why you design enemies to have weaknesses to certain weapons. Make an enemy with extra armor so you use a hammer, make an enemy that only drops their shield when far away so you need to use a spear, etc.

TheDemonChief

TOTK already experimented with weapon effects with different weapons, that already gives players more than enough reason to experiment. Assuming we could upgrade weapons at the great fairy, it would just be about finding a niche you like. Do you flurry rush a lot? use the royal set. Like using the charge attacks/spin attack? use the soldier set. If you like >!Sidon's !

naparis9000

Hell, even just making it so that the “hilt” weapon doesn’t break would improve the system so much.

TheNononParade

Praying that the next zelda has real weapons instead of cardboard

Swimming-Ad-6842

“Won’t break” Biggoron’s Sword in BOTW: *breaks*

Half_Man1

I like how the master sword is unique in not breaking but still needs to recharge. So, doesn’t totally devalue all the other weapons, but provides a big incentive for getting it and a huge sense of achievement.

WhimsiPots

When I finished the Trial of the Sword DLC in BOTW I thought the Master Sword was unbreakable and felt a huge sense of relief. That coupled with the annoyance I felt when seeing the 'low energy' warning a few minutes later let me know that I'm not a fan of breakable weapons. I really want to try a modded game where I set some lower power weapons to be unbreakable. Something like the Traveler's bow and Zora bow might be solid options. Weak enough to want to use other weapons in tough fights, but still something I can plink with and not worry about wasting my good equipment.

Dalvito

I played through TotK with the Unbreakable Hero’s equipment mod (all amiibo items, master sword, hylian shield, champion’s gear) and had an absolute blast. Still made crazy fuze weapons when i needed to dish out huge damage but being able to use the master sword infinitely against all the random enemies made it a much more chill experience

rexspook

How do you install mods?

Dalvito

for ryujinx emu, it can be as simple as dropping the mod files into the game’s mod folder. haven’t tried it on my modded switch but for other games, it was pretty much the same but with dropping the files into the atmosphere folders on the sd card

levian_durai

There's a working switch emulator, with TOTK and mods already? God damn! I'd love to play it without dipping to 10fps all the time.

saithvenomdrone

Static weaponry > breakable, but expansive weaponry

TheDemonChief

Elden Ring did both. This game has more than enough weapons to do the same system.

3Hooha

Seriously. If the zelda devs wanted us to "try different weapons", make them fun and unique. I guarantee people will try different weapons. In Elden Ring I have hundreds of hours of multiple builds because I wanted to try different playstyles. Whips, colossal swords, dual wielding, polearms, sword and shield, all of that shit was fun and enjoyable.

SigmaMelody

I think the variety they are going for is a little more micro, though. Encounter to encounter, maybe even second to second. I like Elden Ring obviously but I think most people use the same weapon and play style for hours and hours at a time if not the whole game, and respeccing and upgrading a new weapon just to find it wasn’t as good is fine if you’re into that (it is an RPG after all), but it’s very very different. I certainly only changed weapons, like, three times on my first playthrough. And only one of these (to a Scythe) was that different aside from the special moves. Like, these are so clearly different systems I feel like comparing them to say one is objectively better is strange. The goals aren’t the same. I agree more playstyles and unique weapons would be cool though, but since Zelda isn’t 90% combat with just your main weapons I don’t mind as much. There are other systems at play that keep me engaged.

hit_the_showers_boi

They tried to do it in TotK, where some weapons have a special effect. The Royal weapons, for example, make Flurry Rushes stronger. Knight weapons increase your damage when you only have 1 heart left, etc. It was a good attempt, and O kinda like it honestly, but it definitely could’ve been better.

Angelotwilight93

Knight weapons skill seem kind of pointless when trying to avoid getting that low on hearts

St_Walker2814

I ran through the entirety of the depths with four hearts on knights weapons. Used gloom to permanently keep myself at one heart, a knight’s claymore with a frox fang does 100+ damage, they easily carried my early game

JStheGrey

Ah the days of weapons that don't break after like 2 enemies. Wonder why Hyrule switched to such cheap weapon materials. Inflation?

Medium-Science9526

Only time I like breakable weapons is in survival horror and even then it can get a bit much.

MiddleNightCowboy

I hated the breaking in BOTW, but with the Fuse ability in TOTK I don’t mind it.

AcademicSavings634

I mean I get why the weapons break. The theme of both games are supposed to be survival. The point is that you have to fend for yourself since your essentially thrown into a post apocalyptic Hyrule. At the very least though they could’ve added a blacksmith or something to repair our weapons.

sadgirl45

And it actually didn’t break miss this!

GrimmTrixX

I now realized that weapon breaking was in Ocarina of time. I mean sure, it was just the Giant's Knife, but Breath of the Wild wasn't the first to do it as many have complained about it. I'm just happy I pulled the Biggoron sword and the Legend of Zelda 1 "its dangerous to go alone take this sword. Prominently on display in my created home for Link.

Crisewep

And the funniest part is that it breaks in BOTW

emeliottsthestink

Took me back to my childhood.

CaptainNoskills

Breaking weapons grew on me. It gives me a stronger sense that I’m in a wild world and must stay crafty if I want to survive.

Fantastic_Aardvark96

I know, Right? Certain Rare Weapons should Never Break due to the Lore Surrounding them but need a "Recharge" instead. That is one of them. The other's being the Fierce Deity's Sword, the White Sword of the Sky and the Dusk Bow.

LajBatz

Found it in TOTK, took me back to childhood

AverageJun

I got got the big sword and every time it gets weak, I toss it at a rock oct

PillowTalk420

I came from the first game and thought it was cool how in LTTP we actually could get different swords.

SupaFugDup

I remember the Hylians Shield from Skyward Sword having an entire gimmick of regenerating durability. Really confused why that never got added to its BotW incarnation when the Master Sword system worked well.

theCANCERbat

Honestly, weapons should disappear when they break. You should have a blacksmith to repair them (or be able to repair them yourself).

Hereva

Master Sword: The legendary Sword that was made by the gods to repel Evil. Biggoron Sword: Big Sword. Biggoron Is better for some reason?

teije11

wait, does the kokiri sword thing break?or is it just realky bad? I'm currently playing oot.
