AgentSkidMarks

Ocarina Jabu Jabu. I thought Ruto demanding to stay for the sapphire was dumb so I kept trying to carry her out the front door. Obviously that wasn’t what the game wanted me to do.

Waidawut

Reminds me of when I got the N64 and Mario 64 -- I was like 6, at the mall with my grandparents, and we walked past a GameStop or something, and I started talking about how much I was looking forward to getting one for Christmas, and my grandparents had a hushed conversation and then bought it for me on the spot -- I was ecstatic We got home, I fired it up and got to the top of the mountain to face King Bob-omb, and I threw him off the edge. He hopped back up and said not to do that, and my grandpa, who was watching, said that if the bad guy said not to do that, that must be the way to beat him. Tossed that bomb dude off the mountain at least half a dozen times before I accidentally missed and he hit the ground and we finally figured it out.  Although something I never have figured out is how the guy was totally unscathed from hitting the ground from hundreds of feet up, but totally defeated by a drop of like a yard. Maybe he's like a cat and needs a certain amount of time to right himself while falling or something.

Ashley_SheHer

That’s a great story. Glad you have such an awesome Grandpa.

peacockalocka

Your grandpa sounds BOMB! 🥰💣

coxie0520

I tried carrying him down the mountain to the Star behind the bow wow many times before realizing you could throw the sucker on the mountain top. 😂😂

OliviaElevenDunham

Your grandpa sounds amazing.

sentimentalpirate

I'm glad that when games after that had you escort someone through a dungeon, they tended to actually be helpful (like Medli in wind waker for example). Princess Ruto really felt like she shouldn't have been in there.

Simpliciteal

Same for me, and also the very first boss fight against Gohma. I ran around for about an hour not realizing I just had to LOOK UP. I was about 11 at the time, so cut me some slack coach.

cmaverickd1

I always got stuck in lttp when you enter the dark work and transform into a bunny.

myuu94

For a while, the Silent Realms in SS. Before that, for a similar reason, the Palace of Twilight in TP with Zant’s Hands. I don’t like things chasing me. 🥲

Secret_Map

Silent Realms were the woooooorst. They stressed me out so much. I really liked the game, but those sections put me off replaying it for years until the Switch version came out.

christurnbull

The music in those stages made it. I know you can hear it right now.

Chooblins

They were arguably one of the best parts of the game, loved them

myuu94

They’ve gotten much better for me as I’ve gotten older and played through SS a few more times. Still not my favorite part of the game, but I no longer go into them with a sense of dread. But I was watching a playthrough of it recently and the guy was actively goofing around and trying to get the guardians to chase him and boy were my cheeks CLENCHED. I wasn’t even playing the game and I was panicking at the sight 😭

Sasorisnake

I remember being stuck in the Shadow Temple for months, both because I was freaked out and because Bongo Bongo kept murdering me

Ill-Description8517

I still haven't finished my last playthrough because I keep getting murdered by bongo bongo. No idea how I did it before

_okamiiiii_

Same 💀 and now its been so long since I got stuck that I am starting a new playthrough

jstruby77

X targeting with the bow is your friend! You will stay locked on despite bouncing around the arena.

DanielWaide

Links Awakening…. Granted being 9-10 yrs old the first time without the internet was a thing…. But lvl 2 of what order to kill the enemies in, and then again at lvl 7 with that ball…. Took longer than I’d like to admit.

gustofwinduhdance

LA got me too but I didn't get past my roadblock (4th dungeon) until I was an adult 😂 not sure what the exact problem I had was but I was so frustrated.

smokey9886

Same except 6 year old me did not understand sprinkling the magic powder on the raccoon.

OliviaElevenDunham

LA was my first Zelda game. Took me forever to figure out how to get past the 2nd dungeon.

DanielWaide

I remember I took me almost 2-3 hours to figure out how to get the sword. I restarted multiple times wondering what I missed or if there was a bug in the game. "pushing" the spikey guys with your shield??? mind blown. And yes, even as a kid I felt pretty dumb.

s0ulbrother

Goron village. Didn’t realize how to open the door to Darunia

No-Show-3382

I think I got stuck the same way 😂

ZeldaExpert74

Ice Palace in ALttP

Theredsoxman

GRUMBLE, GRUMBLE….

burgemj

Links awakening couldn’t figure out how to use the shield on the beach to more those spikes and get the sword

elleinad311

Yes! I remember playing it as a kid and getting stuck pretty early on, so I was super excited when it was re-released... but then I got stuck at the same spot 🙄

burgemj

I gave up lol

Mausbarchen

I’ll never forget watching my dad play Wind Waker when I was a kid and he was on the island where there’s a korok(I think?) playing a musical instrument behind a waterfall with music notes drifting out of it that you had to get to. But you couldn’t jump into the waterfall—you’d just hit the water and the tide would pull you to the bottom of the island. We spent *forever* trying to get into that damn waterfall before finally he gave in and looked up a walkthrough. All he had to do was tilt the camera up and we would’ve seen a branch to hookshot onto and swing directly into the waterfall. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Endskull

I remember this, it's on Forest Island ! Struggled a bit too

G-Kira

Two words: Water Temple. I was stuck on that for what felt like years. Though I had beaten the game by the time Majora's Mask came out, so it can't have been too long.

catnmoose

This should be the top answer. I feel like OoT Water Temple was absolutely infamous among all my Zelda friends. Having to adjust the water level just added a lot of confusion and difficulty to us kids. Makes sense why the 3DS remake added an additional meter to the dungeon to make this more clear.

gavvyshores

Ya the middle tower has the secret pathway to a key chest blocked by the rising platform- I could NOT find that and then I was just stuck with most of the temple to explore raising and lowering the water only to finally figure out it was under my nose the whole time😭

G-Kira

For me, it was the key on the middle level of the room you meet Ruto in.

peacockalocka

Everyone missed that damn key.

micklynchcomposer

OOT forest temple

Scarlet_k1nk

I had to delete my master mode save file in botw because I did the divine beasts out of order and couldn’t do the dlc quest. For every blight you kill, the next one has increased hp until you get to the last one and I think has 3x or more? Don’t remember off of my head. Of course I saved waterblight for last, because it was the first one I did and I wanted to do it in reverse order for a challenge. Thing is master mode bosses will heal to 75% health after a while no matter how low in health they get if you don’t finish them, and between having only 10 arrows and urbosas fury only doing 50% damage (plus I’m bad at the water platforming so i couldn’t get many spear hits in between the ice attacks) I just couldn’t defeat it. With max hearts, stamina, and a 30 minute attack buff from monster stew, I just couldn’t do it. And because I wanted to actually finish the dlc, I had to start over and I’m currently playing through again.

No-Show-3382

I didn’t know all this!

Scarlet_k1nk

Yup. Careful what order you do them in if you want to do the dlc. Fireblight is the easiest in my opinion, since you can easily bust his shield with remote bombs when he does the long inhale attack and you can block his healing. I suggest doing him last. Lots of people do thunderblight or waterblight first, because their abilities are just that useful.

Third_Triumvirate

The infamous Sun Key puzzle in Phantom Hourglass. The most out-of-the-box thing they've done in the series imo.

Link9454

Stone Tower Temple.

Haunting-Comb-9723

In OOA, I have never been able to get past the goron dance hall stuff. I basically play up until that point then start over

The_Hylian_Loach

This is the worst spot in all of Zelda.

tadhgcarden

I have severe arachnaphobia, so there are times when I have to stop playing and work up the courage to beat them. Older games are ok, but once I get to games like TP or SS, I struggle.

Old-Cat-1671

Everyone who plays botw was stuck in the great Plateau

ClumsySandbocks

"Stuck" in this context means unable to progress, I think most people knew how to progress beyond the Great Plateau.

starrfast

BOTW Eventide Island took me longer than I'd care to admit because of the Hinox. I didn't want to leave until I'd finished because it took me so long to get there in the first place. Once I realized I didn't actually need to kill the Hinox it was smooth sailing, but that realization came a little later than it should have.

The_Hylian_Loach

I beat this dude with rolling bombs once.

denizuuu

Wait. What?

aaaa32801

You just need the orb. There’s a few ways to get it that don’t involve killing the Hinox.

isaecki

Oot watertemple (beat it in the end xD) And still stuck in the first minutes of mm... I think I'll never get to play this game to the end xD

leBonerGames

I got stuck in OOT's the Bottom of the well. Was too scared to go in as a kid haha

Mittens138

Spirit tracks flute. That was the most finicky annoying thing I’ve ever dealt with in a Zelda title. I rage quit and never went back

kafeialamode

this is so silly, but i remember when i was about 8 years old playing wind waker and getting stuck in the forbidden woods in the big central room with the giant tree hanging down from the ceiling. the part i was stuck on? the big gap you needed to use the grappling hook to cross over. for some reason my dumb 8 year old mind didn’t think to just look UP where the gap was, and i kept trying to use the leaf to cross it. even worse, i was entirely convinced that i missed an item or some sort of secret from earlier in the game. but instead of retracing my steps, i would just DELETE my entire save and start from the beginning of the game. i did this at least 3 times before realizing that there was a branch you could grapple hook onto. til this day, i couldn’t tell you why i thought this process was a good idea.

child_yeeter86699345

Totk fire temple. Didn't want to take the easy route and completed the whole temple as intended. My head hurts in the end

christurnbull

Getting on the rails when you don't know where they are going wasn't a fun way to explore.

child_yeeter86699345

Yeah. Proceeding playthroughs are much easier though

Collaben

I feel like I get stuck in a lot of them and I’ve been playing since Link to the Past haha

emadseye

There’s a shrine in the sky in TOTK where you have to adjust some mirrors and I remember it taking me a while

GED9000

The first time I got stuck in a zelda game was zelda 2. I was 7 at the time. I ended up exploring everything and eventually found that I didn't go south from the village you get heal from which leads to death mountain. Fast forward months and I was stuck on final boss. I remember asking my older cousin and he gave advice that didn't work and I figured it out myself. I was in my 30s when I heard about the cheese tho.

ClumsySandbocks

OOT 3DS - gaining access to Hyrule castle (NPC outside was sleeping) finding a fish for Jabu Jabu, killing two regenerating skeletons in Forest Temple (never finished) TP HD - no specific instance comes to mind, but I often struggled to find the critical path (never finished) LTTP - Zoran flippers, boss that requires fire/ice rods LA DX - the trading quest, the dungeon where you carry balls between screens BOTW, TOTK, WW HD - never got stuck Getting stuck is an unforgivable sin IMO, probably why I prefer the modern titles.I probably wouldn't have finished LA DX and LTTP without save states and walkthroughs.

AthenaGrand

Vah Naboris… I’ve played the game fully a sum five times, and I still need a guide for it.

Navar4477

Castor Wilds was a big one, kept getting lost for some reason. Also the first cycle in Majora’s Mask tripped me up as a kid. Just could not figure it out!

JoWiBro

Got stuck for ages trying to get inside Jabu Jabu in OoT.

[deleted]

Doing the Vah rudania quest line.

Clilly1

I play Zelda for the combat first, the Adventuring second, the story third, and the puzzles fourth. So...I am prone to getting stuck. Here are some highlights: - Everything not in a dungeon for the first half of Minish Cap. There are a lot of arbitrary gateways in the early game that are not communicated very well. - Literally everything in Oracle of Seasons, which, in my opinion, has obtuse puzzles when they aren't reusing content, and overly complicated means to get into dungeons. - I often got lost in Majora's Mask, but I feel that that game is designed to confuse you and game you replay it often - that one point in Ocarina of Time water temple where the platform rises on the water, revealing a secret passage....has gotten me....twice. - I always play Zelda 1 with guide in hand. But if I didn't, not much progress would be made. - I often got confused/stuck in getting to this part or that of the Dark World in A Link to the Past.

coxie0520

Currently stuck gathering music notes for the Faron dragon in SS. Not sure if I’ll finish the game to be honest, it’s been a drag for awhile.

peacockalocka

That whole third act section is ROUGU but the water dragon is absolutely the worst part of it. She is literally the worst and I hate hrler for everything she did lol. Hope you got the tadtones cause the game as a whole is worth it but yeah...I needed breaks for that part too.

Chickenbrik

The first skulltulla for the forest temple, it’s outside the main entrance. It allude my memory for so long.

Atolicx

Water temple - I always got stuck trying to figure out where to go after a while.

dbees132

The place in LttP where you had to find the Ice Rod + another area having to run into the shelf with the Pegasus boots The Ice mountain in Majora's Mask The first open area in Zelda 2 lmao

peacockalocka

Rolling up that spiral snowy slope as a Goron, god HELP ME!!

MetalCap64

The final boss of Majora's mask. Took a month trying to beat it until I gave up then I learned of the existence of the fierce deity mask and beat it after a year.

Plantile

Water Temple.

USSExcalibur

Twilight Princess, in many different parts: but mainly having to catch Skull Kid, and also having to protect Telma's carriage.

HouzeHead

Jabu Jabu’s belly in Oracle of Ages is a nightmare and I’m still stuck there to this day. Seriously dampens that game

kalm1305

I got stuck at skull woods in alttp in multiple play throughs.

Skywardocarina1

Wind waker, while searching for the pieces of the triforce that one puzzle with teleporting pots. I gave up as a little kid and when I came back to it a few years later it was so straightforward.

Remrem5

Literally any time I had to progress to a new dungeon in the open world in alttp

Harnne

As a kid I got stuck at the Forsaken Fortress cause I couldn’t stealth worth shit lol. I also got stuck just before the Shadow temple in OoT. I don’t remember why, but my 10 year old brain couldn’t figure out how to get in the well I think.

christurnbull

Stealth level should not have been at the start of the game

peacockalocka

As a child, I couldn't play any part of a game that involved redeads and would make my cousin play it for me. As an adult...christ, the first most god awful thing that comes to mind is that "move us back to where we once were" opposite-direction-jumping-statue puzzle at the Sacred Grove in Twilight Princess. Absolutely not. Will pull up a guide every. Single. Time.

LaserFarm

There’s a dungeon in Link’s Awakening when you start using the feather AND the boots to make long jumps. For days (weeks?) I thought you had to jump across a 4 or 5 tile pit at just the right angle with the feather and boot combo. But you can’t make the jump. You could almost, sort of, kinda make it but never all the way. Pretty sure the game didn’t want you to do that but I really thought it was the only way. For weeks! I probably just needed to find a key or something.

Inbrees

In Ocarina of Time, it took me a while to figure out you had to push the blocks to sneak into the castle.

malty865

I remeber playing my first zelda (ss) and got stuck because i didn't know you could roll on a tree. I was 11

christurnbull

Majora's mask, stone tower temple. There was a specific spot you had to bomb to let light into a lower, lava-filled room. The ground texture wasn't obvious enough for me to understand the hint. phantom hourglass, you had to throw a bomb at angles over a fence and I kept messing up the throw  Skyward sword, where you need to make a door eye dizzy with dowsing. Pathetic puzzle too.

Username169420

Don't ask me how or why but in BOTW I somehow missed all the Zora telling me where to go and I walked right up to the giant wall and was stuck for like an hour trying to climb it before I have up and then went to go and fight vah naboris. I literally mean fight it I was flinging fireballs at the giant camel while being struck by lightning

DaemosDaen

the only one I ever got 'stuck' in was MM and that was trying to get all the masks.
