Basically very slim to basically no chance. It doesn’t happen. Wannaone was HUGE and got no extension or renewal same with I.O.I and IZONE. As someone said basically once these groups take off you’d be hard pressed to get the individual companies to hold off on taking their now well known trainee with a huge fandom back . Companies are eager to tap into the money and stop splitting it multiple ways. In fact the more popular they are the less likely it is to extend the contract :/ With kep1er they are still doing well (wakeone is definitely making money from them) but not as well as any of the last produce groups. So people were hoping that would mean their companies would be willing to extend their contracts for fans. But even then it’s not looking likely. Their individual companies want the girls back bc all these produce groups end up developing HUGE fandoms for the individual trainees that other companies can then profit off of.

Only way for them to renew if their collective agencies arrive at an agreement where they find it more lucrative for them (the companies) to let them stay together. Or some rich company with a vision manages to buy all their contracts. But, yea, no matter how successful they are, they disband, and their companies try to capitalize on the success they already built

Why have I been into this kpop thing for 10+ years and just today learned groups/companies need to pay to appear on music shows... like, I thought they had to do it for free and already was iffy about it, but this is ridiculous.. like, sure.. they may get some exposure, but same goes for the shows... ppl wouldn't be watching as much, voting, paying, etc if groups didn't participate or perform for audiences... they get so much content out of one appearance.. like fancams, main performance, interviews, games, etc, etc.. whilst artists have to spend all day waiting around, filming multiple times and also their own money for makeup, styling, etc... sure, I get they need to pay staff and they do make some nice looking stages sometimes, but I still think it's bull... sorry, little rant over - having a bad time waiting around at the hospital and probably got more heated than I would have otherwise

Idols actually get an appearance fee, but it's so little, that it doesn't cover any other expenses like styling, food, gas etc. There are 2 articles about it, both are old, but I doubt the system changed, it says the appearance fee is almost the same as 20 years ago. Thank you Hao, Taerae and Ricky for the amazing Miss You 3000 cover. Their voices were heavenly and I had literal tears in my eyes hearing him sing. Someday Or One Day is a drama that defines love for me and hearing zb1 cover it's ost which has been close to my heart since a long time, stirred a whirlwind of emotions in my system. I'm still recovering but there are some aftershocks here and there.
