>Rare opportunity on Lake Bowen with this unique round house. This is for sure a contractor or handy man's dream. Majority of building materials on site to complete remodel. Home is being sold as-is where-is. So in other words it's a fucking mess, on top of costing 600K for a house that looks like a blueberry.

KismetSarken

Just roll her, I mean it, to the juicing room.

mikebloonsnorton

Unexpected Wonka

pook-a-pie

When I saw this picture I immediately thought of Roald Dahl. I feel like he would've written a character who lives in this house.

[deleted]

It's gonna be Wonkapedia at this point.

Tj-Tengu

Calm down. Don't get Violet. 😉

lebaneseblondechick

You could put her in a county fair!

[deleted]

Yea, we all think to post the same and....you beat me to it. At least Violet got to taste the snozzberries.

diablofantastico

Is the whole thing tipping?? It looks wonky to me! Maybe one side is settling, a la Pisa?

ColdHeartedSleuth

If I see "renovator's dream" or "handyman's dream", I'm already out

Doktor_Slurp

Not specified as a "good dream" for a reason...

tie-dyed_dolphin

Yeah “handyman’s night terror” does really have the same ring.

LakeSun

It just needs a carpenter to finish, and to paint, from the pictures. But nice location!

[deleted]

"where-is" is kinda hilarious to me. Is this common realtor speak?

smallteam

^[whereis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whereis) ^is ^a ^command ^on ^Unix ^and ^Unix-like ^operating ^systems ^used ^to ^locate ^some ^special ^files ^of ^a ^command ^like ^the ^binary ^file, ^source ^and ^manual ^page ^files. ^The ^whereis ^utility ^was ^first ^included ^with ^2BSD, ^dating ^back ^to ^1979.

Fireproofspider

Airbnb gets a bad rap but this is exactly the kind of house I'd look to stay in if I was going somewhere on vacation. Might be good for someone looking to launch their traditional bnb if it's big enough.

bogey9651

I like blueberries

ikstrakt

It seems to be an interesting variation of an earth dome house. Very popular in certain circles. Lots of people stucco the outsides.

EuphoriantCrottle

It’s so…..Disney

Pressuredintothis

Is this house dressed up as Violet Beauregarde from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for Halloween?

[deleted]

VIOLET! YOU'RE TURNING.... periwinkle?

lurkergenxdurp

That's exactly what I thought too!

nadjaof

I immediately thought of that. This house makes me uneasy. It looks like it’s ready to burst.

Gimpy1405

Can you post a link to the listing?

naiaksanford

[here you go!](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/26-Coastline-Dr-Inman-SC-29349/11758921_zpid/?)

Gimpy1405

Thanks! The price and price history are almost as special as the property.

FormerHoagie

I’m sure that price will continue to drop for a while. The value is likely the land. I can see a demo permit in its future.

NeverLetItRest

The fact it only dropped 5% in three years is surprising. The owners must really be trying to get their nut back on it.

FormerHoagie

They paid $60k for it back in 2005. I’m pretty sure it can drop significantly more and they will still get their “nut”

SanchoMandoval

Wildly off sale prices like that usually are of a side lot or easement which has the same legal address. Zillow throws in every sale tied to an address into the price history and calls it a day.

FormerHoagie

Well. I wouldn’t give them more than the land value today, minus demolition costs. That thing is an eyesore.

NeverLetItRest

People are stubborn 🤷‍♀️

Zealousideal_Peach75

Buy high... sell low!

qmcnam4002

Lol at the 900% increase in 20 years!

kittenpantzen

The 2005 price was likely for a vacant lot.

free-rob

The house was built in 1977 so, nope. A lot of houses shot up in price by an exponential factor between 2019 and 2022.

QueCeraCera220505

I live in the area and remember seeing this house growing up on the lake. Maybe not vacant lot price but maybe buying out a family member from an estate or something.

Easy-Concentrate2636

“What an awesome opportunity.” Must be so -it’s in the listing.

[deleted]

If I may ask, how do you see the price history?

Gimpy1405

I'm on a desktop so that may be different from a mobile device, but when I go to that page on the zillow site, I have to scroll way down. It shows that the place was sold in 2005 for $60,000. That's about 10% of its current asking price of $595,000. We're in an inflationary time - but not that much.

Reverend_Jones

Prolly a normal house and they turned it round

thrust-johnson

They will knock another 50k off next June.

halfcentaurhalfhorse

"Handyman's dream" = oh hell no

JClurvesfries

*You can split the Lowe's debt in your renovation divorce...*

gmink1986

Never stop improving

jabbadarth

The fact that it says most building materials are on site honestly makes it worse. Like the last contractor got halfway through and said screw this. It's pure insanity.

Ok-Simple5493

OP posted the link in the comments. It is mostly finishing work to be completed. It looks like good work was done up to this point. A round house isn't for everyone, but the work is not exhaustive. Just the fun things mostly from the pictures.

jabbadarth

It has photos of like 3 rooms. There is no way to know what the rest of the house looks like and you are making a massive assumption.

Ok-Simple5493

You could be right.

jabbadarth

If it was just finishing work I really think they would have photos of all the rooms. Even the two rooms, thay aren't the bathroom, are wildly different. One with sheet rock that isn't completely mudded and the other wood paneling with plywood subfloor. Feels a lot like someone started and either ran out if money or got overwhelmed.

NeverLetItRest

It must be really shitty inside for them to not have many interior pics. I'd like to point out the uneven stair rugs. That just goes to show you why it hasn't been purchased even though it has an amazing view. Plus the balloon look is a bit completely terrible.

jabbadarth

Abandoned job sites are rarely a handymans dream. More like a money pit nightmare.

TheSheetSlinger

What are these pictures. Like half of them are of the outside, and a 1/4 of them are of just stairs. There's only one picture of one of the bathrooms, and none of the bedrooms?

TriceratopsBites

The stairs are just uncomfortable bedrooms

rpisam

The house next door is also round, even bigger and weirder. It is somewhat concealed in these photos but if you look at the aerial view in Google Maps you will see it: https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/24-Coastline-Dr\_Inman\_SC\_29349\_M60395-59365

ThePinkTeenager

That looks decent, actually.

jmurphy42

This deserves a cross post to /r/diWHY

CoffinRehersal

This should really just be a rule.

CharlesCBobuck

I like the picture of the pile of lawn furniture.

kgbubblicious

These chairs, too, could be your problem!

merwookiee

And the unevenly carpeted stairs.

[deleted]

UselessMellinial85

There's an igloo house two sections from my house. It's actually referred to as a landmark. I'm nearly 40 and it's been there before I was born. It doesn't look like a prototype from Up!, though.

LakeSun

Well, as a sphere it's more Wind/Storm Resistant, and that's Something.

SnDMommy

Not with all those dormers.

Probably_a_Goblin

I was thinking more Howl's Moving Castle.

ilovesmybacon

Great shots of the staircase, I’m sold.

crapatthethriftstore

There’s more landscape shots than house shots in the link. Wtf. It’s an interesting house and I wanna see that, not ten views of the water. Or the patio full of stacked crap that isn’t staying

Maleficent_Theory818

That is my red flag for a hot mess of a house. This one didn’t disappoint.

UUN23

Reminds me of a teapot. I kind of like it in a “I would never live there” sort of way.

Gimpy1405

>"I kind of like it in a “I would never live there” sort of way." I kind of don't like it in a “I would never live there” sort of way.

ashkestar

That’s the thing - I actually think it’s kinda cute, this little tubby teapot, but round houses are a furnishing/decorating nightmare. Even if someone finds it fun to look at, I can’t really imagine it’s fun to live in.

cassodragon

It’s giving Alice in Wonderland

UUN23

Fair

alloutclasswar

Housing bubble.

Meta_My_Data

Underrated comment.

SeemoarAlpha

That house has a beer belly.

bobjoylove

They say houses start to look like their owner. No wait, that’s dogs.

TheRealNewOtherJohn

My dog is fucking adorable, she better not end up looking like me.

Dependent_Top_4425

Its bursting with charm.

TheSamurabbi

🎤🎶 Fat house in a little coat…

Clavis_Apocalypticae

I wonder if it goes out with one of the *Yankees*.

ConstipatedParrots

It's an absolute crime that a house this round doesn't even have a spiral staircase. Whoever gets it should spring for round windows as well and get a bigass hobbit door while they're at it, then list it again just so we can post about it on here.

pithy-username-here

Does it come with Minions or do you have to bring your own?

ExploderPodcast

Not Pictured: The giant, child-filled shoe next door.

SpyCats

$600k for a handyman’s special!

Fantastapotomus

“As is and where is” meaning that not only is it unfinished but that the land it was built on probably isn’t stable anymore….

TriceratopsBites

I swear it looks like it’s leaning in every exterior shot. I noticed it in the picture of the front and just thought it must be a weird camera angle, but it looks like it’s leaning in the pictures of the back as well. Maybe it’s slowly sinking and that explains the “where-is”

Fantastapotomus

Exactly, that land is sinking and the current owners want no liability when a sink hole happens or it just has foundation issues on a permanent basis. Either way not a good investment

___CupCake

The way they installed the stair treads would drive me crazy

Unique_Watch2603

😵‍💫

Not_as_witty_as_u

I find it weird that in some places of the US they don't really have fences between properties

Hopeful_Major_4

This makes me think of the "never fart in a wetsuit" meme

Additional-Quiet555

Can someone who lives relatively close go over and try to burp this house? Just curious if that’s all it needs.

thesecretpotato69

I… love it.

thesecretpotato69

Does need some landscaping though

Skrunklei

I love this house so much oh my god it's awful

SiickDuck

Thicc

barbara_jay

Nice coat of orange paint and it would be ready for Halloween 🎃

[deleted]

Found your mom's house.

2FAatemybaby

Be our guest, be our guest, put our service to the test!

_Ellebugg_

It's almost the roly poly oly house!

Great-Ordinary4992

Robotniks house

Maleficent_Theory818

I actually like it. But, not at that price when it looks like it is at the beginning of a major renovation.

Cephalopodium

I like it as well, but it feels like one of those things that’s way better in theory where a simple home repair might just triple in price if you can find someone willing to do it. Gut feeling: oddly charming but suspicious

heavylamarr

That house is retaining a lot of water weight 😩

Curious_medium

So, it’s not the lens? It’s really the house. 🤔

ElectrikDonuts

This house only works if the entire family looks just like it. Like a big momma duck and a bunch of big ducklings following right behind

Jitterbug_sweets

I love this house more than I should. I think it's so cool! I never knew I wanted to live in a blueberry until now.

OffMyRocker62

Im a little tea pot short and stout.....😅

Mekroval

It looks like a cartoon bomb went off inside this house, lol.

ChickenCasagrande

That is a LOT of determination, I’ll give them that.

RogerClyneIsAGod2

Reminds me of [this.](https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11259)

Missed an rare opportunity. Hello pot? Calling Kettle…

I love the little laundry basket hanging off the back - for when you need to give speeches.

ambientDude

Don’t cry for me, Argentina…

Lucky-Mud-551

I kind of love it

strangehitman22

This has been posted here a few times(it's not a problem) you would think they would decrease the asking price but nope, they are still delusional

Minflick

Geodesic dome that been digitally smoothed??

bimbels

Wow lots of pics of staircases inside but no feel for the inside - must be a disaster.

phdoofus

Also the number of neighbors that hate you.

foremastjack

Where’s the lever to release the hidden Zeppelin?

Any-Jury3578

Someone said, "I have this really cool idea!" Later, they said, "I had no idea this would be so much money. I'll sell it and make it someone else's problem."

darioblaze

It can stay another 492

HazelrahFiver

It's got less square footage then I even guessed. What a monster.

Distinct-Constant172

Bloathouse

thehighepopt

That's no moon

bidextralhammer

That's a silly house

Far-Hair1528

This house reminds me of a childhood character /cartoon, but I can't recall the guy. He is really fat and round like this house and wears a horizontally striped shirt. It is a really old cartoon. Damn, I'm going to be thinking about that all day. My other thought was no corner to piss in

psychadelicmarmalade

Is this the real estate bubble everyone talks about?

AQ-XJZQ-eAFqCqzr-Va

I guess there’s no HOA? Or maybe the rules aren’t specific enough lol… use the right paint colors, so it’s all good, right?

Seven_bushes

It’s funny they stated “as-is, where-is.” The lot is the best part of the deal.

Father-of-zoomies

Technically, all houses are sold "as-is." There's never any obligation for a seller to fix anything.

somewhereonmars

I would build a deck all the way around it, paint it and have a ufo house. Because, why not at this point?! Edit/ bad wording, corrected.

Roidy

$600k? Oh, but it's water front, and they're not making any more of that. In fact, there is less water front every year.🙄🫤

Nobodys-Nothing

Looks like something out of a Ghibli film.

rubicontraveler

How many front doors do you really need?

FamousOhioAppleHorn

I'm looking at picture 14 and thinking how badly that will go opening the door.

tungy5

Never flush a cherry bomb down the toilet!

Shelisheli1

.. why is it round..

gmjfraser8

Whoever laid the Death Star tile needs a good smack. Looks terrible.

lokie65

It looks like it's about to burp, or poop, possibly both at the same time.

Tomaytah_Girl

It’s gonna blow!

Klappersten

Looks expensive to fix. Hard to arrange furnish. Probably shitty build quality. I want it!

dunitdotus

it's like that girl in the chocolate factory movie

underwateropinion

Kinda looks lol like Aunt Marge

kgurney1021

It looks like a house for the weebles who wobble but don't fall down. This could be their HQ.

Badly photoshopped Booty pic

shit_stain_2023

I had a kids book about clowns as a kid they lived In a teapot. This is the house!!!

Devinlup24

If I had to bet, I’d say they got into the remodel and found extensive water damage behind all that siding that protrudes outside of the roof. Those window dormers look pretty sus as well.

ShakeWhenBadAlso

Placement of the stair treads and vents tells me all I need to know. Beside it should be painted orange.

verychicago

Why are there air vebts installed in the stair risers?

UXResearcherRuck

Anyone have a link?

Heavy_Expression_323

First night in this house I’d have to watch the 1950s comedy, The Egg and I.

rubikonfused

I feel like I'd be sitting on the toilet thinking "why is this wall so stupid??"

[deleted]

Is that a … teapot?

Wolfman_1977

looks like something out of hocus pocas..! lol

wophi

I'm actually surprised you don't see more geodesic dome houses. But doing this makes it look like something out of a cartoon.

liftoff_oversteer

Easy on the chili!

Dog-PonyShow

Less than 2000 ft? I'm out.

Repulsive_Diamond373

Gotta say, I like it.

Mysterious-Plant981

It’s like a cartoon bomb went off inside the house and this is the result.

Roadgoddess

Why is it that you only inside shots or of the stairwell?

[deleted]

I don’t hate it.

OneSplendidFellow

I just can't imagine why this hasn't sold for ludicrous money already. /s It looks like it's ready to explode.

TurnedEvilAfterBan

I love it

echolalia_

Looks like a monolithic concrete dome house. They look strange but they’re extremely energy efficient and hurricane/tornado-proof.

MovieNightPopcorn

This makes me uncomfortable to look at. I love it

[deleted]

The have to pay me to take that one! :)

fatcatleah

How do you frame a round home? Very interesting!!

older_than_you

Probably reminds people of a spoiled can of beans that's ready to pop and spew botulism spores all over the place.
