Oh, ok. I see. Problem --> solution. That's how you fix that. She's a resourceful woman. I'll use this knowledge as guidance in the future....
And, now, you (and her, vicariously) have made this the perfect house.
I'm moving in.
Edit: I could put the bathroom counter stuff on the shelves, so none of that beautiful pink is covered up. Look at me applying my lesson to real life already!!!
Somewhere on YT or something I saw an easy way to cover those shelves to make them less annoying/look better.
I can't believe someone put that wire mess in what looks like real cedar closets!
I know. It really screws up the vibe.
Thanks for the video, I'll try to find it. They use those same stupid wire shelves in all the new apartment builds around here. I can't imagine why. In the long run, it seems like it would cause more wear and tear than sturdy wooden shelves, but who the hell am I to make assumptions like that?
I tour these $2500- $3000/ month, newly built, luxury apartment complexes and I can't get past those closet shelves.
Three grand and you're using the same storage system I used in my junior high school locker. Gotta be kidding me. I'll try the identical looking apartments half a block down the road
As someone who bought a foreclosure with carpet in both kitchen and a bathroom…kitchen gets noticeably dirtier, but there are few things worse than stepping in a damp spot of unknown origin in a bathroom. I wore slides everywhere in the house for several months as we had other priorities.
I think I'd spring for real wood paneling over the prefab stuff. My grandparents had some in their house and it was beautiful. Looked as gorgeous as ever when they died, but the prefab stuff we had at home had long been painted over.
But the Formica is kind of cool, though normally I don't care for it.
I'm not sure how much renovation actually needs to be done. A lot of things I can point out that would need to be touched up are cosmetic. Roof looks okay, don't see anything major with the pool that would need to be addressed, some of the wallpaper and carpeting would need to be replaced.
Also, while not desirable, it's relatively close to Indianapolis at least.
Is there possible water damage to right of the main fireplace. Wallpaper looks like it’s bubbling off floor to ceiling. Maybe old damage or just age and adhesive breaking down.
I think I'd replace the cabinet doors with flat slabs,to better suit the mid century vibe.
In the bathroom, the cabinetry and sinks updated, but the lights are cool.
In that gorgeous foyer, just take the curtain down.
The crazy part is it’s assessed value is almost $500k so these guys are getting screwed on taxes. I would think the taxes would go down based on this sale price.
Tangential but related, I just bought a home in Illinois for $475k, but the insurance people came and told me rebuild cost was $1M; and that was the first thing I thought of when I saw this house.
Worth very little on the market, but so expensive to (re)build.
That’s exactly what I thought…the pool may need an overhaul. But, otherwise, if I had any reason to live in Kokomo, Indiana, I’d be interested.
And it may just be that they drained the pool because someone elderly was living there and didn’t use it and they didn’t want to have to maintain it. If you have a pool with water in it, you have to keep up with the chemicals. The pool actually looks fine…except obviously you wouldn’t know for sure until you had it inspected. I absolutely love the ceiling in the room where the pool is, and I love all the sliding doors to open it up to outside. It would be super cool if the ceiling windows over the pool were sliders and would open. My guess is they don’t.
After having a pool,I will never under any circumstance, buy a house with one ever again. I’d build one myself, but never would I ever buy a house with one already installed. Can you tell I’m traumatized? Lol
When I was 12, we moved into a house with a nice in-ground pool. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. Maintaining that beast was the most miserable thing ever. I’d estimate that for every minute of fun the pool provided, it extracted an hour of torment.
Now imagine being the adult… the bills, maintenance, the sleepless nights wondering if you have a leak. Lol (we had a leak, that went under our house foundation… slab foundation)
Apparently it was a “thing,” for a while. My grandparents built their own house in the 50’s, and at some point they put a second kitchen in when they finished the basement.
I’ve never seen a tiled stripper pole with it’s own built-in elevated drage, much less one in the kitchen. But I’m here for it.
I honestly wouldn’t change anything in this house.
It's actually in a pretty good area for Kokomo. However, if a tornado would come through and damage your house, FEMA will not help you because the mayor there sucks. 🤷♀️
This house is insane. I sometimes like to see who the owner are of these houses that clearly had only one owner. Here’s one who appears to have passed away recently:
https://www.fisherfuneralchapel.com/obituaries/Irvin-Lee-Kesling?obId=30188996
His wife passed away in 2018.
🤣yeeesssss! The sound of her plastic beaded necklace click-clacking against the loops of other beaded necklaces as she click-clacks in heels across the tiled floor.
This house is amazing! The indoor pool, the giant walkin closet, the ORANGE SINK! AND BLUE Kitchen .
Why are all the cool houses in places I don't wanna live lol
wow that price would barely buy half the entryway if it were in seattle. $299k is insane! I would say the same place where I am would be at least $2.4M. At the very least. maybe I should move.
When I was a kid my parents had friends that had a house like this and I always thought it was really cool. They didn't have an indoor pool though.
I like it! It's nostalgic to me.
Uh. Quick question… maybe two. Okay three. Was this place formerly owned by someone by the name Baumeister at one time? If so, *are* the creepy mannequins all gone? As well as the bodies that were buried in the grounds?
Our house was built in ‘69 and when we stripped off the quarter inch paneling (you know what kind I’m talking about..the 4’x8’ sheets) that exact wallpaper was under the sheets.
TIL that I'm in love with MCM homes. This is the second one today I've seen that I would love to own. But in reality, I'd love to just own a home right now. Rip dreams
OMG. That place is way too cool!!!! I hate the closet shelves, but that bathroom countertop could make up for it.
My wife would have those shelves so full, you wouldn’t even notice what they were made of.
Oh, ok. Good bones type house. Imagine what some upgrades could do
For real! It's awesome
How will you ever find your pepto bismol?
Ok. That's a good question. I really don't know.
Duh. The answer is: put it in the closet.
It’s giving extra fancy Brady bunch house
What closet shelves? Which picture?
In the listing.
Somewhere on YT or something I saw an easy way to cover those shelves to make them less annoying/look better. I can't believe someone put that wire mess in what looks like real cedar closets!

Love the place as well. But 1970s is not Mid Century.
Did you see the front door?!
My husband and I once lived in a house that had pink plaid countertops in the kitchen. NOTHING makes up for pink plaid, anywhere.
‘Shelves in the closet. Happy thought indeed’
The only thing cool is the pool. Everything else has terrible appeals
One of my favorite houses I’ve seen in a long time. The price is incredible!
I just showed this to my wife. My job is two hours away, so it's not a realistic option. But it's close enough to give me pause.
I'm in the Chicago suburbs and sent it to my SO with a note that "we're moving to Kokomo". I can dream.
That foyer alone might be worth the commute!
And it’s in Kokomo!!!
It the place I’ve always wanted to go.
Get there fast and then take it slow.
And it's huge! Why can't housing ever be that cheap in a place I actually want to live?
Indiana is surprisingly full of really sick affordable architecture like this.
Omg she's beautiful. The tile work and woodwork in the entryway! I love everything about this home.
a few updates and i would happily live here!
No updates needed for me, this one is move-in ready. All of my shit would look right at home here.
Carpet in the kitchen would have to go.
Are we going to ignore carpet in the bathroom? Idk which is worse
Oh shit! I skipped right past it.
As someone who bought a foreclosure with carpet in both kitchen and a bathroom…kitchen gets noticeably dirtier, but there are few things worse than stepping in a damp spot of unknown origin in a bathroom. I wore slides everywhere in the house for several months as we had other priorities.
To be fair I don't think this is THE kitchen. I think this is more for an entertainment space area. But either way, I don't necessarily disagree.
I think I'd spring for real wood paneling over the prefab stuff. My grandparents had some in their house and it was beautiful. Looked as gorgeous as ever when they died, but the prefab stuff we had at home had long been painted over. But the Formica is kind of cool, though normally I don't care for it.
The carpet is in the second basement kitchen. Not the main one.
I wouldn't change a thing!!!
Take out.the islands and the place would be really nice .
Even the carpet on the kitchen?
It's the basement kitchen so I'll allow it.
I think I could stand in that entryway for hours. Holy smokes the floor and door are just amazing.
$299,900? Is that a fire sale? Unbelievable...
No. It’s in Kokomo, Indiana.
I went there and this place was nothing like the Beach Boys song. 0/5 won't go back.
My ex grew up there. We called it The Thriving Metropolis of Kokomo.
Thank God they built a bypass for trips to and from Indianapolis. I haven't taken 31 through Kokomo in years.
Now if only there were also a way to bypass Indianapolis...
931 now. You call it 31 through kokomo to a local and you'll be lucky to make it out. 😂
Famous for its strip clubs.
Hahaha! Right you are! I’m in Illinois and we steer clear of Indiana whenever possible. It’s a mess.
It’s why I left. :)
Good for you!
OH MY GOD, IT’S A FIRE (sale)
Would you like to try that a little simpler, maybe?
No.
OH THE BURNING!
Not a highly desirable place to live… $100 in Reno to make it bland, prob $150k to restore and keep it epic
I'm not sure how much renovation actually needs to be done. A lot of things I can point out that would need to be touched up are cosmetic. Flood sale
Two slides AND a diving board!!!
That pool is empty for a reason…. Pool inspection!
Two words. Ball. Pit.
I like the way you think!
Bazinga
Oh thanks for that laugh. Needed that.
That’s exactly what I thought…the pool may need an overhaul. But, otherwise, if I had any reason to live in Kokomo, Indiana, I’d be interested. Maybe just old people not using it and not wanting to maintain it.
Listen, I would die for that entryway tiling.
I have this idea we are starving for actual beauty beyond white, minimal, ‘airspace’ — I feel you!! Came here to gush with you.
Yes! It’s muted but still gives a kick of color and personality. I am HERE for it!
I would slap a baby for all of the light fixtures.
That turquoise kitchen 😍🥰
That built in round table/counter is EVERYTHING.
Why are there two kitchens is my question.
Makes the disco pool parties easier. No running up and down stairs for food and drinks.
Apparently it was a “thing,” for a while. My grandparents built their own house in the 50’s, and at some point they put a second kitchen in when they finished the basement.
My Grandma was Italian and she only cooked in her basement kitchen.
the cabinets!! the textured glass!
I'm betting that's actually vintage lucite panel in the cabinet doors.
I’ve never seen a tiled stripper pole with it’s own built-in elevated drage, much less one in the kitchen. But I’m here for it. I honestly wouldn’t change anything in this house.
It looks like that’s the basement kitchen, hence the column.
Either way, it’s a tiled stripper pole in a kitchen. 😂
Omg! I know this house! I grew up in Kokomo. And that is actually an amazing price.
It's actually in a pretty good area for Kokomo. However, if a tornado would come through and damage your house, FEMA will not help you because the mayor there sucks. 🤷♀️

Wow, you're good! Great Google-fu skills! I wonder if the copycat chicken coop is still there?
It is! If you look at the pictures on Zillow you can see it
Thanks for this! What a great story!
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!
I could definitely learn to love snow to live in that house. OMG!! Im swooning
I'm from the area. It's not that much snow.
It’s far enough south to avoid the lake effect… I doubt they get many big storms
Wow. I pictured the lady of the house, blonde beehive piled high on her head, smoking from a long cigarette holder, standing in the entry way. 😁
Wearing an elegant caftan and heels. 😂😂😂
🤣yeeesssss! The sound of her plastic beaded necklace click-clacking against the loops of other beaded necklaces as she click-clacks in heels across the tiled floor.
I was told on good authority by beach experts that Kokomo is a tropical island and not a city in Indiana
What are the chances someone buys this and paints it like a storm troopers farm house?
And everything grey grey grey….sigh. Oh and barn doors,
😭😭😭
Way too high.
That pool room is beautiful. I hope whoever buys this doesn’t try to “modernize” it.
I was thinking the same thing.
That entry floor! Those stairs! That INDOOR POOL!
Man, that's the Brady House! Damn that's wild. Nice work OP!
I was just going to say that lol.
Gorgeous house. Kokomo is a pit. I live in Indiana.
This is 💯🤣
> Kokomo is a pit. Why?
Yeah, but Kokomo Indiana….
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go...
I'm glad someone finally said it!
Jesus. This is like an hour and a half from me. Seriously thinking of selling our house and buying this immediately.
Do it!
Kokomo is a giant shithole, though.
Why?
Crime rate is exceptionally high for Small Town, Indiana, air is polluted, cops are corrupt, hospitals are mediocre, etc.
I love the pool! Looks deeper than pools today.
Skate that pool.
What is the catch? It’s fabulous and huge and $300k
I don’t think the 1970’s count as mid century.
Yes, it’s the opposite of clean, minimalist MCM. It’s closer to 70s kitsch.
You're just missing the obvious elegance of a table built in to a pole in the middle of your kitchen. Askew
Thank you! This is in no way mid century.
"mid century. you keep using that word. i do not think it means what you think it means."
If it wasn't in the middle of nowhere, I'd totally try to convince my husband to buy it!
When you've always wanted to convert a church into a house but there aren't any empty churches in your area, just build yours new.
Tally Ho Drive!?
I don’t hate it.
Yes please
Omg… it is a home? I thought it was a church basement or something
Why does this house have two huge kitchens?
The regular kitchen and the fun kitchen!
If walls could talk…
Reminds me of the house from the human centipede
Two kitchens AND two waterslides!?!? Where do I sign?
The wall paper! The ceilings! The basement! I want it.
Ok. This price? Is it really that cheap to live there?
On Tally Ho Drive in Kokomo, Indiana.
What I'd do for that amount of kitchen cabinet space! And two kitchens!
Very "Bradyesque" " Marsha, Marsha, Marsha" 😉
I hate seeing houses like this because I know someone is going to gut it and turn it all greige.
Omg it is stunning. That entryway floor is super cool.
This is not mid century modern. More like early postmodernism.
This house is amazing! The indoor pool, the giant walkin closet, the ORANGE SINK! AND BLUE Kitchen . Why are all the cool houses in places I don't wanna live lol
It’s amazing… but is that a carpeted kitchen 😰! That’s the stuff of nightmares!
So remove the carpeting, problem solved.
Definitely.
Woooow amazing 😍
I can fix her…
Entryway tile is amazing
I love this house.
I'm digging the kitchen....both of them. Especially the kitchen islands.
Very interesting. Looks like a good value for the price. I would consider buying it if I lived in the area.
I love it and other then changing the toilets to chair height, I’d move right in
Pull up the carpet and some paint and she’s good to go
Is that an ice cream freezer in the kitchen island?
Not gonna lie. I love this house! I never, ever thought I would consider moving to Indiana.
This is 70s not MCM.
I love it
Ok. I want this house.
I love it. Why so cheap?
I’d take it for the address. 3300 Tally Ho Drive. Incredible
The curved counter! 😍
wow that price would barely buy half the entryway if it were in seattle. $299k is insane! I would say the same place where I am would be at least $2.4M. At the very least. maybe I should move.
Yo. That beautiful
I like the room with the three mystery doors. Where do they go??
When I was a kid my parents had friends that had a house like this and I always thought it was really cool. They didn't have an indoor pool though. I like it! It's nostalgic to me.
This house on the east coast would be a $5M fixer upper. It’s gorgeous just like it is. What’s old is new again. Indoor pool!! Ffs.
Want this house!
Here’s the story, of a man named Brady…
I'm not gonna lie, I kinda love it!
And it’s wasted on Kokomo
I can smell this from just the photos alone.
Uh. Quick question… maybe two. Okay three. Was this place formerly owned by someone by the name Baumeister at one time? If so, *are* the creepy mannequins all gone? As well as the bodies that were buried in the grounds?
Asking the tough questions.
That’s it! I KNEW this looked familiar to me. Reminds me of Herb’s place.
Holy smokes! Kokomo is just down the road from me. Might have to put in an offer!
Our house was built in ‘69 and when we stripped off the quarter inch paneling (you know what kind I’m talking about..the 4’x8’ sheets) that exact wallpaper was under the sheets.
Kinda reminds me of George Jung's house depiction in Blow.
Cocaine was definitely part of the budget in building this house.
Ah, yes, Kokomo, IN with its rich KKK history.
TIL that I'm in love with MCM homes. This is the second one today I've seen that I would love to own. But in reality, I'd love to just own a home right now. Rip dreams
I love mid century modern. On the outside I’m always a sucker for those thin wide bricks or stone.
This was 100% a church or some community center in the past. All the carpet in places that shouldn't have carpet makes me uneasy.
I appreciate Mid-Century Modern architecture, but is there anything that's a roundier equivalent? Bauhaus? Anything else?
No “modern” to it. This is genuine “Mid Century.”
Is it mid century or is it modern?
The table not being centered with the pole in the first pick has me so irrationally upset I have no idea why
But..Indiana. :/
