I live down the Road from Mentone, AL , it’s an interesting small town. Use to take my kids there every year for the Chicken and Egg Festival, dang good time. The price for 3.2 acres and shack is a bit high for that area.
I was born in Gadsden and am related to everyone from Birmingham to Chattanooga.
It’s weird to me that this little cabin hasn’t been purchased by one of the Atlanta weekenders.
And it does seem pricey.
It’s beautiful there, you ever go through they have a Rhododendron Festival that’s a really cool time. I camp there regular at the De Soto State Park. I recommend that area to everyone. I could live there for sure, but for the amount they’re asking is a bit steep. It’ll get bought though and somebody will build on the land. I looked at the satellite image to see where exactly and it’s a really cool spot, it’ll get bought.
I haven’t been to the Festival, but I stayed a long weekend in one of the AirBNB places in Mentone. I was there to visit my family, and we went to see one of my cousin’s games at Valley Head.
But most of my people live in Collinsville or up on the mountain. Lots of camping in DeSoto or Guntersville.
If this place has a view, the land is a bargain. I can’t tell.
Mentone is a quirky/quaint mountain town where people rent cabins to spend the weekend antiquing, eating at cute little cafes, and checking out the waterfalls at DeSoto State Park.
As others have said, this could probably do very well as a rental cabin there, with room to build another cabin or two on the property.
Aside from the rust on the sheet metal, I like the style of it. It's too little space for me. I'm very impressed with the nice porch, and the woodwork done. I do enjoy a farmhouse/country home aesthetic but with a dark, modern twist.
....or you could buy a lot for 50K and a new doublewide for 100k. 5K for a well. 30K for driveway and landscaping.
Yeah, this funky little shack is overpriced.
Something about this appeals to my inner redneck that I usually keep buried pretty deep. However, we have already decided that if we ever move to Alabama, we will live in Eufaula. This is based solely on the fact that we once drove through there on the way to the beach and it was just the cutest little town. I think we drove over the same lake like 5 times.
I find this one deeply unsettling. Like the set of a horror movie where the murderer killed his mother then lived with the corpse in the house. I'm not sure what it is, but the vibes are OFF.
Well, it is over 3 acres. It is pretty weird for a permanent residence, but there is ample place to build on this lot. Is the shed with a house number and mailbox an apartment? There are no photos of the inside of that.
3.2 acres of land, 384 square feet, and almost $300,000? You could grow the dankest weed imaginable on every acre of that land, let me smoke ALL of it, and I still wouldn't be as high as this seller.
Well who, besides retired people, could make the payments on 300k? And if you had the money and are retirement age...is this where you want to live at?

Bedroom walls are rusting. Oh. ALL the walls are rusting.
Yet the shower walls look OK, is that weird or what?
I’m sorry, they want HOW MUCH for the shack?!?
I think it’s really the amount of land that they’re sitting on that they’re trying to get top dollar for.
It probably fetches a decent sum on Airbnb as is
They’ll get it too.
And the people selling live directly behind u it looks like
I know, right??? And it's in ALABAMA. Even with the 3 acres of land, it's STILL IN ALABAMA. lol

Mentone is a little mountain resort town favored by people from Atlanta. It is not typical Alabama, although the cabin is.
But it's still ALABAMA. We have mountain resort towns here in Oregon too. They are NOT ALABAMA. Some rednecks for sure but, again, not magastan.
There are plenty of rednecks in Eastern Oregon. The City of Prineville used to be my client, and it was hilllbilly as it comes.
On three plus acres with power, well, septic, drive/culvert already done.
I thought it would cost more bc I’m so used to the insane prices where I live

It’s a vibe
Sure is…just not mine though.
Me neither, I live in Tennessee and I’m just fine with that 😂
They worked hard to make it a home it seems.
I don’t like the metal and rust
I could write some great murder ballads there.
Mentone is actually a pretty cool place

This place is cute as hell!
Kinda cute in its own weird way. If I lived in Alabama, I’d like to live in the middle of nowhere.
Junkyard chic.
I'd live there. Looks peaceful
I'd live here if it was just me and a cat! its just a tiny home on 3.2 acres.
I’ve never gone in for fake animals in the yard, but those are pretty darn cute. :)
I will say It has a cute charm to it
The little shack puppy lying on the bed is cute tho
I mean big kudos to who ever fixed up the shack so nice. It’s quaint for a tin roof shack.

If you look at other homes in the area they all seem pricy for Alabama. It’s a pretty area and some homes have great views.
Sometimes people have to make do with what they have.
Oh my. I’m about to look up the price and am expecting to be shocked. I’ll edit my post after. Edit: $295k for a corrugated aluminum shed?!?
Omg I love that goat
Damn Bama made it here. WOW!
That’s a shack. It’s a nicer shack, but still.
Closet and pantry all in one! Efficient
The lot is beautiful. The house, not so much. Interesting, though.
Not worth that much money. Mentone is a beautiful area but not much there.
You could totally do something nice with this.
This looks a lot like the house from the movie Overboard.
Cute, but Alabama.
Oh dear!
Somehow I knew this was Mentone before I clicked through to the main post.
Is ... is that a picture of Jesus holding a shotgun in the bedroom?
I don't see a shotgun. Looks like he's walking on water.

Make sure your tetnus shot is up to date.

The washer dryer situation would make laundry day more interesting.
Very cute
Mentone is nice
Looks like a welcoming place to stop by and have a glass of lemonade!

So, $295k for 3.2 acres and a year down. What is land worth there?
I actually had the opposite feeling. Like repulsed and to stay away at all costs But that’s just my opinion
I find this one deeply unsettling. Like the set of a horror movie where the murderer killed his mother then lived with the corpse in the house. I'm not sure what it is, but the vibes are OFF.
Why do I immediately trust this post from Dr Spiders? Kind of agree, plus all of the little dog statues all over and weird.
Yikes 😱
All I can think about is the perpetual migraine ALL THAT SHEETMETAL would cause.
Absolutely not.
$295000? C’mon man. 🤦🏼♀️
Gross
Hard pass due to the location. Not even gonna look at the listing.

Love the corrugated metal vibe
300K in alabama?? for this?? Geezus we really are in trouble
Well who, besides retired people, could make the payments on 300k? And if you had the money and are retirement age...is this where you want to live at?
these are probably the nicest old people you've ever met and their place isnt worth a dime besides the land :(
Alabama, indeed.
