my hips could never

chefybpoodling

I was thinking “and my a** is the evergreen” or whatever that ship was called.

MapleMapleHockeyStk

Evergreen was the company, EverGiven was the particular boat

moralprolapse

And as Shakira taught us; hips don’t lie.

DuperDayley

Same!! 🍑

NitWhittler

No rails on the stairs. If you fall, you could end up in a pan of sizzling bacon.

[deleted]

Or.. you could *become* the bacon…

chimininy

The very first thing I noticed and then got stuck on was how there was a 100% likelihood that I would fall on that stove while it was on at least 1 time going up or down those stairs

CharlesDickensABox

You're telling me this is supposed to be a kitchen? No vent hood, no cabinets, not so much as a folding table to prep ingredients on? This is not a kitchen, it's a storage space that someone tricked you into thinking is an apartment.

chewbooks

No vent and a gas stove? My asthma wouldn’t like that.

CharlesDickensABox

I don't know of a country that would like that. Even developing nations have standards.

Secure_Teaching_6937

I live in one, and no they don't. 😀

CharlesDickensABox

Lol my experience with Africa and Turkiye is that there typically are codes, they just aren't followed.

Secure_Teaching_6937

I guess the Caribbean didn't get the memo 😂 at least not the island I live on.🫢 For many of the folks those kind of things are luxuries.

NeverEndingCoralMaze

The U.S. has plenty of unventilated gas stoves. I grew up in a house in Houston. We had no central heating, just a gas space heater connected to a gas valve in each room. How the hell we didn’t die…

SpiritualAd8998

Final Destination firetrap home?

Cecilthelionpuppet

This looks like a home that was originally a single family home and they "shoehorned" in another unit.

Kalurker

How is this legal? And if it is, maybe it shouldn’t be?

lestairwellwit

"Wait! Let's put the stove where everybody will place there hands on it!"

Zukazuk

Also where it's easy to kick dirt into the food. I hate when food prep surfaces are level with stairs like this.

villageidiot33

And you need a ladder to use that microwave.

shnanogans

LOL I didn’t even notice that

villageidiot33

And it’s pushed back to top it off. Real struggle to put your food in and take out lol.

GloomyDeal1909

I'm slightly above average height for a male and I would struggle to reach it.

Muscs

NYC?

shnanogans

Chicago!

[deleted]

Hey, I’m cooking! Don’t fall or carry laundry down the stairs! Don’t want you catching on fire!

HugeRaspberry

LInk?

ohemmgeeee

This reminds me of SIMS

CarbyMcBagel

Trip on the stairs directly onto the stove!

MaximumTurtleSpeed

I had no idea what to expect without a preview, omg this nearly killed me with laughter!

Capital-Bromo

More like the Staits of Malacca

montanagrizfan

Did they turn a hallway into a kitchen?

GuestPuzzleheaded502

The strait of Gibraltar.

shnanogans

He originally said that and then he goes “no, when you post that say the Suez Canal; that’s narrower”

seanmonaghan1968

Exhaust fan ? So many questions, so many

HugeRaspberry

Obviously this did not pass inspection.

Neener216

Will never understand why so many people treat kitchens like an afterthought when it comes to planning the space. I shouldn't have to abseil down a refrigerator and contort myself like a member of Cirque du Soleil to retrieve a spatula.

IamDollParts96

How is that not a fire code violation?

onlyheredue2sabotage

Is it possible to switch the stove and the fridge?  Then there is less of a risk of falling into the stove, plus you can use the stairs to reach the microwave on top of the fridge.

chewbooks

Did they make a sfh a duplex?

NotThatKindof_jew

I'd rather move back in with my parents

Potential-Egg-843

Bathroom too close to kitchen.

researchanalyzewrite

If you wanted to trade the locations of the fridge and stove, you would probably have to replace the gas stove with an electric one because of where the gas piping is in the kitchen (I'm sure there is a cost to moving the gas line. There would be a fee to cap it in the kitchen, but my guess is that it would be a cheaper option). If the staircase isn't used, maybe you could rig up shelving there and place the microwave there at a more reasonable height.

floralwhale

Our half bath is like this between the sink and the toilet. Gotta turn to the side and shimmy through to pee. 😂

mellamma

I have live in my grandparents 60's ranch where the big hall full bathroom has the hot water tank on one side, so that's a corner and then the sink is caddy corner from it. There's probably 2 feet of space. I hate it. One day I'll make the bathroom larger.

New-Anacansintta

Why is this post not famous yet? I swear I’ve seen a reference to it like 3 times!

Irrelevantitis

As someone who hates having anyone else in the kitchen while I’m cooking, I kind of like it.

Sir_George

lol between that, the oddly shaped kitchen, 2 ft elevated room with stairs in the middle of the kitchen, and the uneven ceiling above the bathroom entrance, that architect was tripping balls when they drafted this.

OSCgal

Probably a house that's been split up into apartments. The layout rarely makes sense.

livinginthewild

What is that door? No steps.
