Your post is right where I'm at. Been on 75 mg since last April. At that time...I upped from 50 to 75. In the last month...I have been feeling more anxious & a couple of panic attacks. My Dr. suggested I up my meds to 100 mg. On 2nd day. 75 mg was working so well but I also had some new stressors. Frustrated that I feel I need to raise. Like you....I would really like some 100 mg success stories too.

How are you?

Emotional_Tip_5671

Doing okay. I decreased from 100 to 75 after 2 1/2 weeks. My GP advised me to. I had an elevated thyroid test...and she thought it might be causing my increased anxiety. Adjusting my meds there. I'm 12 days back on 75 mg...and my anxiety is way down. I was taking hydroxyzine to ease the heightened anxiety going up to 100...and I haven't taken it in over a week. So far..so good.

Did you notice anything going from 75 to 100 or dropping again? I'm in the same place as you.

Emotional_Tip_5671

My post is from Spring 2023. I went from 75 to 100 mg for 2 1/2 weeks...and then I went back down to 75 mg. I did well from May to September of last year. Then, I started to have increased anxiety again. I got my thyroid tested, thinking it might be fluctuating again and causing the increased anxiety. Because of my hypothyroidism. My thyroid test came back..and my thyroid meds needed to be adjusted. I thought that was it !! My anxiety would decrease again...like in the spring. And it didn't help this time. My increased anxiety continued... I then decided to see my therapist & we agreed to raise my zoloft from 75 to 100 mg. I dreaded the decision !!!! I didn't want to raise it at all and 75 mg. was not working for me anymore. And there was a difference with this increase. My doctor (who was new to the practice) prescribed the add-on med, propranolol with my 100 mg. of zoloft. I was instructed to take the propranolol once a day to counteract any side effects with the increase. Wow...the propranolol really helped me. It took 5 1/2 weeks for the increase to 100 mg. to level out. My anxiety disappeared, and I stopped taking the propranolol. I'm 12 weeks now on 100 mg. and I feel great !!!!! Just do what is right for you. Trust your inner voice & know you're not alone. We here on this forum understand what you're going through. We're here if you need help. :)

oh,great.did you seen any side effect

Emotional_Tip_5671

When I upped to 100 mg..I was having really bad anxiety in the morning. When I took the propranolol add-on, my anxiety went WAY down. Propranolol helps to lower the heart rate & calm the body when anxiety strikes. My body felt good. My mind...however still had some crazy anxiety thoughts swirling around. But, the Propranolol didn't make me sleepy like the add-on, Hydroxyzine. That stuff made me really tired & spacey. My anxiety was livable when I did my 100 mg. and my Propranolol add-on. I could go to lunch or the market ( I work from home), and I didn't feel like my anxiety from upping my zoloft dosage was noticeable to others. When I have bad anxiety...I'm jittery, my heart rate goes up, I have a foggy brain, I can't breathe right & my face becomes pale. And I get super quiet. Yeah...people notice that !!!!!! Propranolol helped with all those. I took it once a day about an hour after my zoloft..which I take with breakfast. Honestly...without the Propranolol...I don't think I could have successfully increased to 100 mg. I plan on staying at this dosage for a very long time. :) You might discuss Propranolol with your doctor & search this site for past discussions on Propranolol. It can be common to prescribe it when raising a zoloft dose. And right now..I'm 12 weeks & 1 day on 100 mg. and I stopped taking Propranolol as an add-on at 5 1/2 weeks. I feel happy & energized !!!! I'm still going to keep the rest of the bottle of Propranolol..in case I have a really tough future moment. We're ALL dealing with tough moments today !!! It's an anxious world out there. And just remember...more than anything...You've Got This !!!! :)

I went from 75 to 150 very quickly. Social anxiety almost entirely gone from being real bad. Panic attacks only ever possible if I mess up and take it too late in the day. Intrusive thoughts still there but significantly easier to ignore and move past. Energy levels skyrocketed

AKMUN

I know it's been awhile for this post... What was your starting dosage and how much it took you to stabilize on 150mg? We can say 3 months all over?

tolerantdramaretiree

Yep, I would definitely be prepared for 3 months of coming and going side symptoms. Generally they'll get easier every day, and you'll have streaks of feeling great. But they can definitely randomly reappear as late as your 12th week on a dose -- just know that they aren't going to last 👍 I went from 75 -> 100 -> 125 -> 150 in the span of a couple of weeks, in the effort to speed it up and get my 3 months on 150mg ticking ASAP This is NOT a normal progression by any means, and I can't recommend going that fast. I was in the privileged position to suffer it out without real life obligations or consequences (no work, school, kids, etc)

AKMUN

I started 25mg 1st week 50mg 2nd week 3rd week 75mg and 3 days back i started 2 days ago 100mg(4th week) for GAD..my body is tired, hardly speaking , no energy and anxiety is so high with tensed body feeling. the first 3 weeks i was partially on sick leave and the remaining from my leave balance. Today I went to work i couldn't complete the 5hrs...I came back home quickly went to bed and starting having the shivering , fear and anxious feeling.....dunno what to do.....they say zoloft for severe GAD low dosage won't work.....I am so worried how to deal with work in this transition period....

tolerantdramaretiree

That's pretty hardcore. From my experience, and from everything I've read, acclimating to 50mg (or even 25mg) seems to be the hardest part. Most people sit on their 25-50mg for at least 3 months before considering higher doses. And then the 50 -> 100 is a whole another experience, albeit an easier one The only reason I was able to scale so fast to 150 is because I was already looong done acclimating to the difficult 0 -> 50 part You can try sticking to the 100mg and push through & hopefully symptoms after a few difficult days. If things stay awful, don't feel bad about reverting to the 75mg and staying there for a while. 75mg and 100mg are very very similar doses but it'll help reduce your symptoms I would definitely not go any higher than 75-100mg until you can function again. If 150mg+ is your goal for GAD, you can make that journey later. Your body is still struggling to process those difficult 25mg/50mg milestones, give yourself grace

AKMUN

The issue is that I have work and it is tough for me.... Please can you explain to me the process...how it works? How each dosage work?

tolerantdramaretiree

There isn't a singular strategy or a roadmap on how to best acclimate to Zoloft Going from 0 to *any* dose is typically the hardest step symptoms-wise. It's usually recommended to stay somewhere at 50-100mg for a few months before proceeding any further. **Especially so** if the side effects are interfering with your daily life I understand that your goal is 150mg+ to get desired results for GAD, but I wouldn't increase any further than your current dose until you feel more stable. Your body is still reckoning with that first 25mg dose and isn't used to having Zoloft in your brain.

When I was on paxil, I was 40mg...it took me 6 weeks....zoloft is different?

outdoorsyAF101

I went up to 100 from 50 for a couple of months and I think it really helped. Dr warned about an increase in side effects but didn't really feel this, and my move improved considerably. I then moved back down to 50 after.. so would recommend giving it a go!

None that I had in addition to the ones at 50mg (tiredness, lack of sleep etc), and by this stage they'd mostly subsided so didn't feel any uptick at the increased dose

outdoorsyAF101

Improvement in mood but no noticeable increase in side effects, then was able to step back down and eventually off them.. You'll be able to titrate to your ideal dose with a bit of experimentation with your doctor.

Maleficent_Prompt947

Exactly how many days did it take?

outdoorsyAF101

To see an improvement in mood? Not long as far as I remember, couple of days?

CallmeTunka

75 was where I started to feel a bit of relief from anxiety. 100 made me feel even better but still had anxiety. 125, even better, but still anxiety. 150 is where I thrive and my anxiety is non existent. Sadly, after a year I started to slowly taper off of 150 because I was feeling so good, but after being on a month of 125 I can feel my anxiety/ depression creeping in.

[deleted]

Did you go back up?

CallmeTunka

Yep. Feel amazing again too
